My husband and I arrived to this restaurant on Christmas Day. We were in a rush to go home to San Diego from solvang so we wanted to grab something quick. I had initially wanted to go here because I wanted both nem nuong springs and chao tom and some soups but unfortunately no spring rolls at all today. Not many people were dining here and parking was plentiful. My husband got the bun Bo hue ($14) and the broth was flavorful. I was pretty bummed with mi quang ($14) simply because there was no pork belly as advertised and instead they replaced it with pieces of pork hock from the bun Bo hue meal. There were only couple of shrimps and 2 slices of pork cha. The broth plentiful but just okay, not what I'm used to with mi quang and no quail eggs . It just tasted like a regular ol shrimp pork soup. Not what I was expecting at all. However they gave us lots of veggies so overall it made us full enough but I probably won't return. I frequent this little shopping center and I finally had the courage to try this place. Honestly, for me it is a little intimidating to walk into an Asian restaurant. One it is language barrier and two what the heck am I supposed to order? I have no idea what is what... Anyway, I went with a safe choice, a #8 BÚN (*Vermicelli). My dish was served with a sauce. I had no idea what it was for but the nice lady, cleaning up a spill on the table across me, noticed my confused face and explained how to eat my dish using the sauce. It was soo good, I can't wait to go back and try other dishes. They also have hot food trays on display for a quick grab and go. So convenient! There was a little misunderstanding when I first ordered but no problem everyone was kind and I totally felt welcomed. Things are a little confusing so have patience and take nothing personal. Randomly found this spot while we were in the area and we had a great meal! We didn't know what was good so we went with the bun bo hue and bun cha Hanoi. Both were awesome and tasted great! Loved the quality ingredients used. Bun bo hue I'd say is on the lighter side but the stock is tasty and the proteins is very clean tasting. For the bun cha, loved how they added mint and their fish sauce is great as well. Smells pungent but it's actually quite mild and goes super well with the grilled pork, which is very flavorful as well. Would totally order egg roll as its own appetizer too as it was tasty. The iced coffee is here also excellent! Liked it so much I almost got another one to go but decided against it since I didn't want to get the jitters haha.
