Better than Bangkok. Forgot the name/number of my lunch salad/dish but it was tasty...and big enough to take half home with me. As I recall it was some sort of rice vermicelli salad...perhaps some cabbage thrown into the mix, adequate spice, and a little on the salty side. First timer but I am definitely coming back. Small place with super friendly staff. Tried the pad thai because it is the staple and I use it to measure against others. Darn good plus you can cool it down (peanuts) or heat it up (chili's in fish sauce) at your table. Definitely be careful with ratings. I ordered 10 and it was a 10. Friends ordered 5's and they thought it was more like a 7 at other places. Need to go back and start trying the rest of the menu. This is my favorite Thai restaurant. The green curry is my favorite! Especially when they give it a little extra kick! They can make anything as hot or mild as you want, though. Went here with a couple of co-workers for lunch. Is it fancy inside? Nope. Kind of a hole in the wall place. Might have walked past it if my co-worker didn't know where it was. The wait staff was nice. And the owner of the restaurant came to out table and chatted with us during the lunch. We had fresh spring rolls for appetizers, which were good. I'm not a peanut fan, so the sauce that came with them was just okay. (But, if you like peanut sauces, you'll be fine.) I ordered the yellow curry with tofu. I ordered a five in the spicy level. Not too spicy and pretty tasty. My lunch mates ordered dishes with a five spice level and both complained about them being too spicy (although both still ate most of it). When the owner came over and we told them that some people's food was too spicy, she offered to re-make the dishes, which I thought was nice. Not at all defensive or upset. I've been to a gazillion Thai places in a few different cities--this ranks about in the middle. I'd go again, for sure. Prices are reasonable and even at lunch time, the wait wasn't crazy long. Do I dream about their food when I haven't been there in awhile? Not really. It was good, but not a stand out. read more

My favorite usual thai spot was closed and I decided to try Laos. The takeout order that I placed turned out to be over twice the price of what I usually pay... over $60 and I pay $27 at the other place. when I inquired as to why it was so much I was told meat was an extra charge on everything I ordered, and on top of that they charged me for an appetizer but simply forgot to make it. I left the place angry, thinking this better be the best thai I've ever had for $60. The tom Kha gai was bland and hardly any coconut or lime flavor, and the red curry was watery. the drunken noodles were okay but had very little meat or vegetables. I went in enthusiastic after seeing good reviews, but sorry, I won't be going back, even if it means I can't get my thai fix that day. read more

I went to Laos Thai a year and a half ago on the recommendation of my girlfriend.She RAVED about how good it was so I agreed to try it. Let me say in advance that I am a reasonably well traveled man and have eaten in many fine dining establishments.I was unprepared for Laos Thai,however.It is in an unassuming area.Mexican shops in a somewhat rough urban setting and a low key restaurant design.The food ,however,is STELLAR! We started with the fried spring rolls.Fried to perfection with still crisp vegetables inside,the rolls(dipped in chili paste)were sublime.A perfect appetizer before the amazing entrée.I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai(7 on the spice scale)and my girlfriend ordered the Curry Fried Rice(5).I was blown away by how delicious this was.An absolutely perfect mix of flavors and spices.And plenty for leftovers,too!I sampled my girl's Curry Fried Rice,as well.Amazing and highly recommended. Wow I've lived here for a year (moved from Washington DC) and was really missing Thai food. This place did not disappoint! We got happy meatballs appetizer and pad Thai and Thai pepper steak. Wow. this is the best Thai food I have ever had! I have traveled to 13 countries and have a real passion for good Thai food. Every time I go to Thai Kitchen, it is a wonderful experience. The staff and decor is traditional Thai and it the menu is very extensive. A few of the best dishes on the menu are: appetizers- chicken satay with peanut sauce and fresh spring rolls, main dish: beef salad ( a taste sensation with steak;cilantro; mint; onions, etc.) Panang curry has oodles of fresh vegetables and a great sauce (can be made with chicken, pork or shrimp). All of the curries are wonderful and another nice treat is the Pad Thai noodles (divine is the word). For dessert- try the Thai tea or coffee (very sweet) and pair it with coconut sweet rice with fresh mango on top (best thing ever). The beauty of the Thai food here is it is made with love and it comes out in all of the fresh ingredients, herbs, spices and recipes that make you feel like you may have actually left Omaha for a bit and could actually be on holiday in Thailand. There are also some grocery items for sale at the front of the store for any budding chefs! It is located on 24th street right across from South High School, there is plenty of parking right outside. Excellent pad Thai and red curry. This place was spicy- I ordered mild and it was spicier than I expected! Very friendly waitress, she even brought a toy over for our daughter. I've tried all the Thai places in town and Laos Thai is the best, by far. The food is more flavorful and more spicy than the others...the Thai restaurant on bob boozer rd is just plain bad, really I have to be honest because it would likely fail health inspections with the leaking toilets, cans of old veggies cluttering the hallway and jars of "spice" that sit out on the tables. My husband and I got sick there several times. The owner is also very pushy and gives you nasty looks if you don't order a drink and dessert. Laos Thai is SO much better. Far and away one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. Have enjoyed everything I order from them. Especially like their soups and salads. Only downside is that they only take cash, which is the norm for more of the restaurants and shops in that area. I have only been here to get take out. Food portions were very small and horribly overpriced .... not sure how I ended up paying over $79.00 for 3 entree's, a soup and 2 appetizer's. Add the money I had to plug into the parking meter out front and the $2.00 fee to use their ATM as it's cash only and the fact that I waited over an hour while there were only 4 other people at a table. The worst part of it all....... we threw most of it out after I got home. NEVER AGAIN. read more
