Went for Happy Hour with some gal pals. The decor is adorable, day of the dead/old cantina. Tried their palomas and margaritas which were great. Their palomas use any Jarrito flavor of your choice and margaritas are as good as thet get for happy hour, no nasty syrups were used. After a few drinks in, we asked for an alternative to the salt rim. Our options were a salt chile or sugar chile rim, our favorite was the sugar chile. On the enclosed patio, they have a lady selling tacos and taquitos that can be purchased in sets of 2. We tried all of them. My favorite was the taquito de papa!! read more

Bartender suck they are only there to hook up there friends and girlfriends. Was here on a Saturday night and literally they kept ignore people around the bar. Dope Mezcal bar in DTLA. I've been there on Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's and it always has a good atmosphere. They play the hitter on Saturday, anything from Vicente Fernandez to Chalino Sanchez, which I think is legit! They have a rocola so you can play a good variety of Mexican music. Came across this place last week when I was at the Art Walk and wanted to take my friend out for a bday drink. I was looking for one place when we saw Las Perlas. I love the vibe and it reminds me of my favorite spot in San Diego (La Puerta). So happens they have a great Happy Hour Mondays all night :) I will be stopping by Mondays more often! They have great selection of cocktails, they have Negra Modelo on draft (my favorite!). Drink prices are in your normal LA bar prices. Great selection of tequilas too. I usually come on Saturday nights. In the last 6 months or so, the drink menu was revamped (got rid of cardboard menus also), but not an improvement in my opinion. The drinks are conceptually cool, mixologists seem to be putting effort into making the mescal drinks, but the drinks lack the right balance to have a good taste. For example, the Poblano Escobar sounds cool, but ends up tasting funky. The real reason to come is to listen to Indie 103's dj Darren Revell around 10p. His music makes the place worth coming to, not the usual top 40 overkill you hear elsewhere. No cover charge doesn't hurt either. To summarize: 4+ stars for the music, 2.5 stars for drinks and their price, 3+ stars for the atmosphere. read more

I came here for date night before going to the LA Art Walk . The Spice Daisy is amazing, definitely a must try I've never had a cocktail like this before, it's cool from the cucumber and spicey at the same time. Noel our bartender/mixologist was not only friendly, his customer service was excellent. He gave us great drink recommendations. I love the vibe of this place and will definitely be back. My co-worker and I stumbled upon Las Perlas last spring when we were on the hunt for non-terrible food in DTLA open past midnight. They have tacos and salsas (two types!) served late and more importantly awesome drinks. At first my friend was sad because she ONLY drinks gin and tonics and says beer tastes like moldy water (I disagree but whatever) so we are branching out and slowly learning to appreciate the mezcal and tequila selection. I would probably take someone from out of town here since it has a great interior decor and there always seems to be a band playing and people dancing but for now it is my 1:00am after work stop. What can I say besides I love this place. It's my go to bar in DTLA ( ask the people who know me where they can find me in a Friday/ Saturday night... with no hesitation they say Las Perlas) . The drinks are great, the bartenders are awesome ( Justin, Miguel, Bart to name a few), they make you feel like you're at home with the hospitality. Cute place, beautifully decorated. It is weird that you have to order your drink inside and food outside. What if you wanted to keep your tab open at the bar and then get food? Btw outside/food area is card only. They need to come up with a better idea. The food takes forever. There is only one lady making the food. And she had an attitude when we ordered from the wrong menu. By the time the food was ready I needed another drink. There is a very very very short menu, not much variation, especially for brunch time. Try the strawberry margarita with chili powder, it's really good. And churro for $1 was good too. Was so excited to come here with some friends...It was a Thursday night it wasn't too crowded we got a great spot where we could sit hang out and play pool.The drinks were decent..not anything special though. For being a tequlia bar you would think the server would know a thing or two about tequila or any drink for that matter...The service from our server was HORRIBLE! she was a girl who kept saying "I dunno...it's only my third day... I'm not sure?" Umm I don't care if its your third day!...you could at least go ask for me and find out. Shouldn't she at least have studied the menu at all! I mean I literally had to do her job for her...and go directly to the bartender to ask a questions and get my drinks because she was nowehere to be found or too slow. Once you get over the BO smell, the place is ok. Small and clearly smelly. Like all of 213's bars, the drinks are great. The house infused tequila for $5 will do the job - it's spicy, fantastic and cheap! If you smoke, you'll love the patio. For us non-smokers, it's pretty sucky. I visited Las Perlas for the Downtown Craft Beer Crawl and I was a fan. Smog City was on tap (yay Westside) and the bartenders were awesome. The drinks are unique and tasty but you better like tequila because that's what they serve. Honestly, I had one drink so I can't be a good judge but I drank a ton of beer that day. Drinks are a reasonable price especially for those on a tight budget...my girlfriend and I were greeted by the security guard and the bartender as well...the bartender was helpful and as it got busy he tried his best to be attentive to all of the customers...the selections of drinks are a limited selection but it's ok cause with a drink or two you're good to go...very strong tequila and mixed drinks...I will definitely return to las perlas read more

Everyone here is friendly & the service is great... the girl Katarina mentioned the security was rude is lying. This little gem is in the heart of Downtown L.A. and has a great dive bar yet trendy vibe to it. The drinks are amazing! I highly recommend the La Llorona, which contains watermelon juice in it, making this a refreshing drink. My friend and I saw another customer eating the taquitos and we couldn't resist. Boy, oh, oh boy are their taquitos delicious! We had the potato taquitos and they were smothered with avocado salsa and sour cream, making each bite flavorful. The taquitos definitely have an authentic Mexican taste. We plan on returning and trying their chicken taquitos next time! The service is great and bartenders are friendly. read more
