I can see others complaining about bouncer, he was late the day we showed up delaying opening by 15 minutes, but no biggie. He was cool to us, no problems...I love the vibe of this place, good music, interesting and comfortable interior, absolutely great drinks. The only think I would change is to place a speaker outside so you can hear the music, but I can also get how maybe they wanted a quieter area where people could talk. This bar is pretty cool. At first I thought the drinks were a bit pricey, which they are but we'll worth it considering they are delicious and meticulously made. I loved the Rosemary's Baby and Smokey margaita. The bartenders were pretty attentive and friendly enough. However, I take one star away for the tiny tacos that are 2 for $6.. that's just crazy. Cool Spot! I ordered the Spicy Daisy & tasty it was! Open space area with limited seating. Got there around 10:30 and it wasn't wall to wall packed. Went here last night for the first time. Walking in and considering the location, I have to say I didn't expect the music. I loved the music! But one odd thing is that the music didn't match the crowd. What I mean by this is that the crowd that was there didn't seem like the crowd that would enjoy the type of music being played, let alone dance it. Wasn't thrilled about their selection of drinks. Tried one and it was "okay". I feel like it is overpriced for what they serve, but I know rent must be high. When we got there it was not that crowded and it took us a while to get out drinks----too long for my liking. Then the crowd started pouring in and I don't think the establishment was expecting it or ready for it. This would mean a much, much longer wait for our second round of drinks. Would I come here again? Maybe. It was a great place to enjoy music and observe lots of beautiful people. Come here for the drinks. They are unique and different from anything that I've ever had. Most of them are somewhat spicy, which is an entirely new thing to me when it comes to alcohol. Service is good and the waitress was very nice. Not sure how I feel about having a DJ at this sort of place, but I'll let it slide since they do have a jukebox. The crowd is mostly 25-30 year olds and not trendy at all. Also, there's a million other bars within walking distance(try the Falls or the Varnish). Since the Varnish is starting to get difficult to get into, think of this place as a Mexican Varnish. read more

Went here for a friends birthday and it was OK. I would MAYBE go back, but it wasn't anything fantastic. Yes I like tequila, the drinks were unique, but honestly I make better drinks at home. Seems like they just throw in a bunch of weird stuff (jalapenos, pomegrante) and call it a drink. The vibe was ok. Older crowd (late 20s, early 30s). No hot chics. Drinks were on the pricey side, but considering what goes into them, I'm surprised they aren't charging more. Honestly the place across the street looked more happening (The Association) but I just read the reviews on that and it didn't sound any more appealing. read more

Las Perlas has it all, there's an inset patio that you can overlook the street below, a full line of all Tequilas and knowledgeable bartenders, plus there's a pool table around the corner that is infrequently occupied. Try the "Spiced Daisy" cocktail, jalapeno infused with pomegranate seeds, it's delicious but the slight bite makes you take your time and really savor the experience. read more

This place is a block away from skid row. The drinks here are good for people who care about what they drink (not me). The owner of Cole's (across the street), 7 Grand (Whiskey Bar), Casey's Irish Pub, The Golden Gopher (1st Bar of the new downtown), Broadway Bar, and Tony's just opened a Cerveza and Mescal Bar on what I think is the coolest street in the historic core. As a LONG-time drinker of tequila and now a huge fan of quality mezcales, I have to say that this is a must-go-to bar if you are into tequila and mezcal: I know of no other bar in L.A. that can beat this place. There are so many poser bartenders and tequila drinkers in this town....and VERY few that know anything at all about mezcal, much less even know what the drink is. Raul Y is legendary in the local mezcal landscape. Him and Ced Mo did a great job on Las Perlas. While the poblano mezcal mixed-drink is my current fave mixed-drink in the world, I love going to a bar where the crew won't steer you wrong if you are looking to try something new and interesting. The Las Perlas margarita is awesome, the decor is great, and there are plenty of places to sit. I also found the bartenders to be pretty friendly and accommodating.
