The space is very nice- clean, modern, and great for watching sports during happy hour( came to watch FIFA game) The service was a little slow at first, but it improved later. The drinks were disappointing - very sweet even after asking for less sugar, and their pear mojito didn't really taste like what it was supposed to be with very old mint. The food was better. I rarely order takeout but since they sent a coupon, in the mail, I had to try this restaurant. Wow, I ordered the short rib panini for $18 And it was fantastic!!! When I was got home I discovered it also came with French fries. The fries were very good, plentiful and substantial. My husband was jealous since had already had dinner earlier (leftovers) I look forward to actually eating dinner there next time. I had dinner for the first time at LaScala's Fire and it definitely won't be my last visit. It's a lively sports bar atmosphere with delicious Italian food, located right in front of Topgolf North East Philly. The restaurant is very large inside with two huge bars and plenty of seating. I would definitely recommend making a reservation because it gets busy. We had one and were seated immediately at our reservation time, which was great. I went with a friend and we both really enjoyed our meals. I ordered the grilled salmon with the scampi sauce on the side. It was a perfectly cooked piece of fish served over a bed of roasted vegetables--simple and absolutely delicious. My friend had the Spicy Chicken Cutlet Rigatoni, which she loved. Our food came out very quickly, and the service was excellent. Our waitress, Sam W., was very attentive and on top of everything we needed throughout the meal. The manager also came by our table and stopped to chat for a few minutes, which was a really nice touch. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. My family and I ate at the Northeast Philly restaurant on the Boulevard last evening, July 16th. Our waitress was Leslie. EVERYTHING (the food), and EVERYONE was excellent. We were excited to try this place and thought it was mediocre at best. We were seated right away on a Saturday evening. Food was ok. Service was slow. I think it was a little overpriced as well. The music was loud, we had to talk over it just to hear each other. Also maybe it's just me but they don't have salt and pepper at the table. I wanted salt but didn't want to have try to track down our waitress that kept going MIA. But I think they had her customers seated in different sections so it was taking awhile. I didn't even know this location was there! A friend mentioned it so three of us met up for dinner on a Sunday evening. Our waiter was wonderful (I wish I knew his name!)! Let's talk about that salad. Is that a meatball... Why yes, indeed. It is a salad with meatball and ricotta, with a dressing that perfectly adorned it all. Short Rib Pizza anyone? Who would have thought mushrooms, onions and short ribs on a pizza - Lascala's did, and it blew me away. Flavors that blend so effortlessly yet pack such a flavorful punch. Heard some good and bad things about this place... wanted to try. First off, place is huge. Modern vibe, upbeat music. Overall, a bit pricey for what you get but very good. Started with their signature ricotta board (whipped ricotta with honey and bread). Sooooooo good. We shared the la scala fries (cheese sauce, long hots, old bay, lump crab). Large amount and legit. LaScala's Fire is a brand new restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia with a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant itself feels very upscale and is a great addition to the Somerton plaza. I visited last night without a reservation. It was busy, but not crowded. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. Service was average. Our waitress was fine, but didn't check in with us much. She asked if we had dined there before and provided background information about how the meals are prepared at the restaurant. She said the pasta and paninis are their largest dishes. To start, we got the crispy parmigiano artichokes. They were too plain to enjoy without the salad underneath. Something was missing - they needed either an accompanying dip or a drizzle on top. I was SO excited for the pizza... and it wasn't anything special. Way too mushroom forward and not enough salt/seasoning in my opinion. It tasted like mushrooms on bread. The pizza dough was crispy. The Tuscan Ricotta Cheesecake was also missing a drizzle or something to help moisten it. It was thick and dry. Perhaps it was the ricotta cheese that purposely made it taste that way. My suggestion would be an orange compote with the orange peels or even honey. I wanted to love LaScala's, but I'm not in a rush to come back here anytime soon. read more

I've wanted to try this place for some time and finally had an opportunity. We have chicken parm, gnocchi and sangria. Our server Luis as attentive and descriptive of the menu. In the area and found them via google maps, taking a chance based on images and proximity. Located just out front of North East Philly's Top Golf, with their store front facing Rosevelt Blvd / Route 1; they were easy to find with the exception of which cross street / light to make a left. Out first impression on arrival, something was "visually" off with their front door and window area as we both questioned "are they open?" Something hinting they might be still under construction. Undeterred we took a let's check and see approach, upon entering I even remarked to the hostess "oh so you are open" confirmed her nodding smile and the handful of other patrons enjoying a late lunch and drinks. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and our server. Atmosphere was bright, clean, modern and inviting. Menus are simple, easy to digest with just enough choices without being an anthology of food options like some other venues. I ordered the short rib panini and my wife got the Poke bowl (raw salmon salad over rice). And we split a side Cesar. Everything came out in short order (though it was 2 oclock and maybe 5 other tables being served) and we were both pleasantly surprised (shocked even) at the portions. I even brought home half my panini and fries for tomorrow's lunch at work! I did let our server know the salad was delicious but they might want to pull back a bit on the dressing as it was close to swimming in it, and a little fresh black pepper would have been a nice touch. We both really enjoyed our meals, portions, preparation, presentation and service was spot on. Pricing was a bit high but then the portions definitely balanced that out. A couple could easily split a meal for the price for one and still leave full. For management; I think my fries were a smidge undercooked but portion was good. Also you could consider reducing your main portions by 1/3rd and charging 1/4th less; which will still put you ahead and your customers will still be full. As for the Cesar that was a good size but the dressing could be cut by 1/3rd or even 1/2. I'll keep them in mind for a return visit if and when we are in the area again. Our server was pleasant but kept forgetting little things we requested and ran away from the table pretty quick at the beginning of our experience. She didn't know the menu well and told us some wrong info about the dishes. Management came to fix it but the guy (bald manager on duty) kinda had a vibe like "Idc what happened here's the food to replace what was wrong". Menu items are on the pricier side, not worth it in my opinion. Mushroom pizza and Italian pork rolls didn't have much flavor. Drinks were fine but not good enough to order a second one. read more

I decided to come here for my birthday, and we were beyond impressed! The food is excellent. We got the loaded fries with crabmeat, delicious. Fresh crab, and NOT imitation. Chicken parm was solid, the chicken cutlet has a great taste. My favorite was the tiramisu; one of the BEST I've ever had! Servers and waitresses are very nice and accommodating. This is my second time at a LaScala Fire but my first at this location. Went with a group of 8, made prior reservations. We were sat immediately. They had live music on Wednesday which was a really nice touch. The place is huge and really nice inside. Now for the food. We did order LaScala Fries, shrimp tempura roll and a cheesesteak roll for appetizers that didn't get a picture of. All very good. The fries are table portion, huge and loaded. They had a nice kick to them. Cheesesteaks rolls were plated with like a cheese wiz which was really really good combo. I had the baked lasagna. The portion was huge. Came with 2 pieces, I had to take the other for lunch. The pizza was good, not too spicy. My brother had the seafood Diavlo and he was the only one who ate his entire portion. He thoroughly enjoyed it. It is spicy, he took his glasses off and was sweating from the spiciness but he didn't leave a drop of food. My baby ate the spaghetti with meatball and she liked it. The most rude and obnoxious bartender I have ever experienced. I asked for a glass of water five times and she was making mocking faces at me. Asked for the manager who was saying she's busy and didn't do anything wrong. The bartender the. Informs us that the manager is her "mom". She was the worst "manager" I have ever encountered. I was there to relax and spend some money after a long week of work and instead had to argue with two crazy people. I will never go back to La Scala Fire. I love this place! I think the food is excellent, the drinks are excellent and the service is also genuinely excellent! We love Max at the bar, which is usually where we sit and they have some pretty good happy hour specials. If you have not tried their Lascala Haze IPA, I strongly recommend you do that They make excellent craft cocktails as well. I come here a lot with my work friends and we always enjoy the ambience. It was great to find this hidden gem in the neighborhood. Came highly recommended by friends. Walking it, I was in awe of how big this place was. Plenty of seating. Big bar. A lot of beers on tap. Very clean (even the bathrooms were spotless). Our bartender, Nikki, was the bomb!! So was the other young lady working there. So friendly. And made sure we were well taken care of with everything we needed. Nikki's suggestion with the Fire Wings was excellent. They were just slightly hot and just the right sweetness in them too. Delicious!!! And they were a great size wing and portion. We also got the Grandma's Pizza. Also delicious!!! I highly recommended a LaScala's Fire visit. This was a run of the mill Italian restaurant nothing special. We had a 20 minute wait until seated. We ordered Meatball Trio, misro salad and a 1/2 plain and pepperoni pizza. The meatballs were served with way too much ricotta cheese and were just warm. The salad had large slices of cheese along with the tomato slices and cucumber. The pizza was small about 10" and the pepperoni was also small pieces Anton only warm. We also each had a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. The total bill was over $95.00 which I thought was a bit pricey for this type of venue. All in all I would rate this restaurant adequate not exceptional. read more

The food is pretty good overall at both locations we've visited but I have a real problem with the Roosevelt Blvd. Location due to the very dirty wine glasses my wife and I both received (cloudy and greasy fingerprints all over it). When my wife asked for a clean glass the bartender seemed bothered and brought back a glass that was so greasy to the touch it was ridiculous. Pretty annoying and well below expectations. read more

We came for the pasta and a weekday girls' night out , and somehow ended up with a full trivia challenge on our hands , which honestly could not have been planned better. There were drinks flowing , appetizers on the table , entrees landing hot , and dessert to seal the deal because effective trivia competing requires fuel. Every bite was phenomenal , especially the Shrimp Pompei , LaScala's Hot Honey , gnocchi , Brussels sprouts , and plenty of wine to keep spirits high. Our server took excellent care of us and was absolutely awesome, though I wish I remembered her name... let's blame the alcohol . The bartender made sure our drinks stayed on point , which did not hurt our confidence one bit. Trivia itself was a blast , and a major shoutout to Team Phoenix because Team Trinidad James definitely respects you . The energy, laughter, and friendly competition made the night feel special . We were smart and used rideshare so we could fully enjoy ourselves. It would be an absolute joy to visit LaScala's again , for the food, the vibes, and making more memories like this. read more

Service was impeccable! Dirty martini was one of the best that I've ever had ! Atmosphere was ok.. very bright and felt like I was in a cafeteria or dining hall. Food was ok.. we got the artichoke appetizer and felt like the menu description was a little misleading, thinking we were going to get a bunch of artichokes and a sauce, but it was six pieces of artichoke over a bed of arugula. The ricotta appetizer was phenomenal. The flavor was great my friend and I got the chicken piccata and the veal Marsala ,. which both were kind of underwhelming, but it was good. I'd been going to their location in Drescher fot Happy Hour but I tried this newer location in NE Philly which is closer to me. Their Happy Hour menu didn't offer any options that appealed to me but the first time I went there, I was surprised to see that they offered sushi options anf the tuna roll appetizer was of high we quality and delicious. I returned today and ordered the spicy tuna and salmon sashimi salad which was of similar quality but the spice level was so off the charts that I felt as if I were having an out of body experience. I literally had to catch my breath outdoors ffg or a moment because I was so drenched in sweat. The verdict: the food here is of high quality but just watch what you order.
