BOBA BALLS Their boba (tapioca pearl balls) are all made in house and from scratch. If you come in on certain days, you can actually see them make the boba right in front of you! The founder says that the recipe is from his own grandma's so you know it's real. Their boba balls are warm, soft, delicious and oh so good. DRINKS Lots of variety here. All of their drinks are amazing and again you can tell they don't use powder or artificial stuff. To decide whether or not a boba house knows their stuff, I will usually order a jasmine milk green tea. From there, I can tell if it's legit and yes, Latea does make an amazing Jasmine Milk Green Tea. VIBE Lots of seating inside. They have some individual booths if you're looking for more privacy so I'd recommend coming here if you need a spot to study or just do some work. They have WiFi as well. I'm wouldn't say I'm a picky boba drinker, I've never disliked any boba I've had but this place was by far the worst I've had. Paid a little under $8 for a regular sized assam milk tea with oat milk. The tea flavor was so weak that it tasted like sweet milk and the boba was so mushy. I usually prefer my boba on the softer side but this was just not good. The workers for some reason did not call the names of orders if you said you were getting your boba "to go" so I waited 20 minutes and eventually asked for an update on my drink and it had been sitting there for the past 10 minutes they just didn't call my name. I came here a few times( those times 5 stars) and got their delicious grapefruit green tea. This time came for the grapefruit green tea, I got regular sweetness and light ice. It came out bitter. One of my new favorite boba tea shops! All their drinks and boba are made with natural ingredients and you can really taste the difference between that and the shops that use artificial flavors and powders. Their drinks have a strong tea taste and the brown sugar boba tastes like honey. The brown sugar is roasted in house. You can tell that the owners are very passionate about their tea. This shop is located in a busy area and it can be a little hard to find parking. But there is an underground parking structure behind the shop that is free for the first hour. The shop is overlooking a busy street and has large windows so it is very pleasant to sit there and people watch. There's also free WiFi too. The interior is very interesting. It's a small shop but has a lot of nooks and crannies where they put seats in. There's even a seat for one that faces the wall for people who just want to sit by themselves. Nestled amongst the ever increasing scene on Main Street in the center of Culver City is this boba shop. Like all LA restaurants must present a vaccine card to sit inside. They have a few cozy nooks to sit and chat or a quiet place to work. As for their tea I had a hot grapefruit green tea which had chunks of fruit contained within it. Admittedly this is more likely meant to be an iced drink as I found it somewhat watered down and didn't finish it. I couldn't ask for more in a jasmine tea brew. You can also choose the sweetness levels and add a plethora of toppings. The drink of choice for me is their Roasted Brown Sugar Milk Drink with Roasted Brown Sugar Boba. Instead of whole milk, I opt for the Oat Milk. It's amazing. It isn't some powder made drink. The owner explained to me that they roast real brown sugar to make this drink. See guys, there are details placed into each of their drinks. Another go-to drink for me is The Tiramasu. Holy kick-a-shiz (made up that term)!!! That is a fun drink. It's such a treat because it not only has espresso in it, there's a layer of cream on the top that's delicious. The last thing, don't forget to pair your choice drink with a little cookie. Just ask an associate which cookie pairs well with what drink. Trust me, it makes a difference. Last-last thought before I close and this is more of a suggestion to the owners than the potential customers reading this: change the music. Culver City is a vibe. If you can't hire folks who can make quick decisions about what is more important, then sorry for those employees as they won't go far in anything they venture into. Ta ta latea. You opened the Culver City location during the pandemic and knew what you were getting into. And LA has opened up quite a bit since we are no longer in the thick of it. I have to admit, I was very impressed with the quality of their tea! I never expect high quality tea outside of 626 from being constantly disappointed but Latea was a delightful surprise. I don't like flavored syrups but I went half sugar on their mango green tea and it wasn't overwhelming at all. Just the way I like it actually. Also, I wasn't going to have boba but the worker convinced me to try their house made boba and it was good!!! Their boba was soft and chewy, and not overly syrupy.
