Visited the new Latitude Restaurant in Midlothian today. I had the fried shrimp (awesome) with some tartar sauce (awesome), garlic mashed potatoes (great), and asparagus (great). Much different for my hubby who tried the flat iron steak (couldn't chew it since it had so much gristle ( horrible). His mashed potatoes and broccoli both floating in way too much butter and salt (and he loves salt).The hush puppies were nothing special. He said the tea was good. I guess we won't be going back which is unfortunate. Our server was great. Also, we love sitting in a booth but were told they were saving the booths for larger parties. Ordered a seafood pasta bowl with Shrimp, Crab Meat and Scallops. We were a party of four. Three of us ordered the same dish. While enjoying the meal I noticed there were no scallops. I asked the two others if they had scallops and they replied yes. One friend gave me one of hers and I could actually see the scallops in the others dish. The waitress was called over and advised. She looked at the dish and went back to the kitchen. Returning she informed me the cook said he put scallops in all the dishes. I said well maybe he put mine in my friends by mistake because she has ample scallops. Waitress returned to the kitchen and the manager arrived. "Who's having problems with the scallops" she said. I told her I didn't have any in my serving. I moved everything around on my plate so she could see. She left and again returned asking to see my plate. I handed it to her. She looked it over and said she also didn't see any. She asked me if she could carry plate to the back. At that point my little cherry bomb of a friend went off and advised her that they were being Rude. So far two people had been to the table four times and now my plate was in managements hands and they wanted to take it to the kitchen. The manager stated "People Lie" now I guess they suspected me of lying. She did take the plate to the kitchen. Ultimately, I was offered another meal or scallops. I opted for the scallops to just add to my plate. Shortly afterwards an individual we suspect to be the cook came out of the kitchen. He walked from one side of the establishment to the other and scrutinized our table hard. This kind of service is rude as my friend said. They need to do better. Was all of that unpleasant interaction from them really necessary? Wouldn't just bringing a couple of scallops been simpler? The service sucks. Food is alright and the place was clean. I brought the remainder of my meal home, after adding the scallops to have for dinner. Wednesday 1/9/2019 @ 4:53p.m. I always feel like a restaurant in a shopping center is kind of weird. None-the-less I decided to try out Latitude. it had some mixed reviews but not a lot of reviews and that kind of piqued my curiosity. They appear to have some good daily specials. Today, Wednesday, the special is half off a bottle of wine which did nothing for me because I don't drink wine. However the rest of the week is good meal discounts. Please see photo. As far as decor, I do like the dining area but I don't like the noise that flows into the dining area from the bar. the noise takes away from the dining experience. I do like the brick wall separating the dining area from the bar area. My waitress was nice (Lisa) and she was helpful. She tried to help me decide on what to order. Initially I wanted the shrimp and grits. She let me know that it might be a little spicy, which I don't like spicy food. I really wanted the shrimp and grits so I asked if I could have a small sample, just to see how spicy it really was. I didn't want to order the meal and then have to send it back because it's too spicy. Unfortunately she told me that I couldn't have a sample because of the way it's prepared? So be it, if I don't like it I'll just send it back. I ordered a boring sweet tea to drink. Lol. Was good. Not really sweet but good enough I didn't have to add any sugar. The food has arrived!! My taste buds were anticipating this meal. After several bites I must say that it's pretty good. It does have a slight kick of spice but it's edible. The grits were cooked perfectly. It doesn't hurt they have bacon in it. Everything tastes good, yay. Would I come back?? Sure I would. I give it 3 stars based off noise from the bar and not being allowed a small sample. I wouldn't Go back if somebody else paid my bill. I just couldn't believe how horrible it was. Our waitress never came and waited long as we were there 45 minutes before we got anything. My soup was cold. My daughter soup was cold. My ahi sashimi to no know was sort of warm not cold like it's supposed to be. It took her forever to bring up our bottle of wine. I even went to her and I said if our food is cold we're going to send it back so she sends the manager over and wants to know what the problem is. Problem is our food is cold and we haven't seen her but once so needless to say she got a dollar tip. I complained two or three different times. I'll be honest, I feel I need to give Latitude Seafood several more chances before I can write a definitive Yelp review. First off the restaurant itself is very posh and classy. I like the atmosphere a lot. The food (as seen in my photos) is colorful and vibrant. I got the fire shrimp tacos and they definitely had some kick to them. I thought the balance of flavors was a little off but that's just my opinion. The calamari was what I expected and the dipping sauce tasted better than my expectations. Overall I was satisfied with my meal and the experience. It seems the majority of Yelpers are somewhat falling into the same boat. I wish I could give this place a 3.5 because it's better than a 3 but just not quite at a level 4. I know, it's petty, but those are the breaks. Your mileage may vary, I'll 100% be coming back to take several more passes at Latitude. read more

I first went to this location 7 years ago and it was fantastic, then right around Covid they started adding automatic 20% tips to anyone that came in there which I noticed when I only had a party of three. I did not come back to this location until recently when I heard they stopped doing the 20% illegal charge on ALL TABLES, where it has turned into a dive bar at this point with expensive prices. read more

Decided to come here on a nice Saturday night around 5:30pm. When we pulled up there was a party outside. It looked like it was pretty crowded. We got seated right away though. By the time we left the restaurant was full and there seemed to be a wait a few time throughout the night. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered drinks. The first beer I ordered off the menu apparently wasn't tapped yet. So she asked what else I would want. I ordered my next beer and waited. The waitress came back a third time. She said there was an issue with the beer again. They brought me a beer and said it was on the house. So cool no problem. Then they came back with a flight of beers and let me try those for free to. Great customer service. Loved it. Service alone it would have been 5 stars. We got the calamari app. It was very good. The lobster soup was just kind of OK. I had the low country boil. The crab legs were probably the best part. The sausage had a tiny kick. And the mussels were good. The bad pet was the shrimp. It seemed like they were frozen over probably over cooked. There was one big onion in the middle and some potatoes that were a little under cooked. One thing I would have like was some bread for the boil. It would have been nice to dip into the sauce. Also maybe some crackers or bread to dip in the soup. The place was very loud. Not bad but if you are looking for something quiet and romantic this is not the spot. This was the second time my wife and I visited this establishment in the last two weeks. Long story short, the first time she ordered the chicken dish and the second time she ordered the chicken dish. First time too dried out/overcooked (chicken riviera) and second time same script. This time (today 5pm) we asked for a manager to share the fact that perhaps the cook could be told so others meals might be tender, juicy, and good for the $18.50 we were charged. He could have cared less. He did not introduce himself, he did not ask if or how he could make it right, and there was no offer to take some or all of the cost off the bill. The waitress (Destiny H) we had was nice enough but checked on us twice and the only time she offered to refill our waters was after we finished and were asking for the manager. This second experience was a 2/10 with the exception that my crab cake sandwich both times was spot on. Choose this location at your own risk. The newer Hull Street location cooked the chicken dish perfectly when we were there and has a great outdoor area and view of water. read more

I was excited to come to this place because my son had talked the food. It was my sister and a friend of her's birthday on August 30. So they were excited to celebrate. The food was good, service was great but the flies were off the chain. We had to cover everything with napkins to keep flies from landing in your food. But we still had a great time. One of my favorite places in Richmond to get fresh seafood that's reasonably affordable. One of the best happy hours in Midlothian for sure (all day Sundays). Hellfire shrimp, raw oysters (ask for the mignonette), lime jalapeño wings (extra crispy), and every dish I've tried on the menu has not disappointed. They even have local RVA Nightingale ice cream sandwiches for dessert! Certainly a "must visit". read more

Latitudes is a favorite for us. We drive 30 minutes to eat here. All of the dishes I've tried are delicious but the fish and chips is still my number one dish I drive out for. It melts in your mouth. Stopped by Saturday evening with a party of 7. I want to add that I love when places have the service where it sends a reminder of your reservation/when table is ready via text. We headed to the bar as the table was getting prepared. Plenty of seats available around 7pm. It was quite loud, but bearable. We were greeted by Braxton. He was very polite, super attentive and all around awesome! He made our short wait pleasant with good conversation. The drinks he made were also delicious. After 15 minutes at the bar, we head over to seat ourselves at our table. We are immediately greeted by our waiter, unfortunately I do not remember his name. We started off with another round of drinks and a few appetizers. Oyster rockefeller, calamari and hellfire shrimp. They were all really good and a decent portion size. The seasoning for the calamari was bland, but the sauce that went with it was pretty good. After finishing off the appetizers, we get around to ordering entrees. I went with the mahi rockefeller, the two scratch sides I chose were creamed corn w/ bacon and cheddar jalapeño hash. It did not take long at all to receive our orders. The plating was nice and I was happy with the portion size for the price. I loved the jalapeño hash, wished it was more on the spicy side and that fresh jalapeños were used, not pickled. Two downsides... the mahi tasted just a little too salty for my liking and when I ordered my olive branch martini, it did not come with the blue cheese stuffed olives as stated on menu. Horrible customer service. The waitress drops ketchup all over my daughter's sweatshirt and jeans. All over them. They give us a couple of napkins to clean up. We're all super mad and the manager never came over to check on us. No discount was given, no offering to help clean or a free dessert. These are pretty standard offers when I used to work at a restaurant. And to top it off, they include their 20% gratuity all bills. So, they got full price for our meals, the waitress got her 20% and I'm throwing away my daughters new blue jeans with a stain on the lap. read more
