Don't be fooled by the pictures as the dishes aren't as photogenic as they are delicious! My husband and I had been trying to eat healthy at home, and wanted a break from our cooking once in a while but weren't sure where to go for a healthy meal. Every time we contemplated going here, we look at pictures and decided against it multiple times. But whimsically, we finally gave it a try, and we had been returning customers since our first time trying! We've tried almost all of their bowls and each one is delicious. They really know how to make vegetables taste amazing. My favorite bowl is harvest bowl (quinoa, pumpkin seeds, black beans, kale, and tofu with lime sauce) and my husband's favorite is Korean bowl (assorted vegetables, rice, and beef). But you can't go wrong with anything here. I've tried their juices too, and they are all good - my favorite is ABC (apple, beet, carrot). The sub-urban sprawl and lack of human density will never work for a business like this. Sure, they could bring the food and succeed, it's healthy affordable and pretty tasty. My Zorba Bowl was great. Fresh and not weighed down with salt or fat. It's like something you might make at home but just have no name for. I did try some chicken from my wife's Bollywood Bowl. It was a little dry for my tastes but that just could have been that batch of chicken. I will try it again in the future. The oatmeal chocolate chip cookie was satisfying enough for the whole family to share. Of course they also had smoothies to pour on that sweet tooth. I'm sure we will go here in the future. Came here for some smoothies. The staff was friendly and the smoothies were good. Be prepared to wait a bit since there are a lot of online orders. Also, indoor seating is closed currently. I would give this place 4 stars if they didn't always mess up our order. They have good food. I love their salads, bowls and quesadilla. But, almost every vet one we come here there's a hiccup. I get it if every once in awhile a place messes up but it's constant with them. They either forget something like cheese, avocado, sauce, utensils, or quinoa in our dishes or they forget to put our order in or accidentally give it away. It can be a little pricey too for how much they give you. Overall, still come here often but always double check my order before I leave to make sure it's all there and correct. read more

There's nothing worse than wondering what variation of a dish you might get. I love having a healthier option in Midtown and I absolutely love their bowls. Try their Thai bowl or Bollywood bowl! Being able to make anything on the menu meatless with ease is super nice. Their flavor combos are right on and I love the number of options they offer as toppings/sauces for their bowls and burritos like Cholula, chili sauce, sriracha, nutritional yeast, liquid aminos and so on. Ordering at the cashier and grabbing your number makes it fairly quick and a great spot to grab a casual meal. The decor is wacky and fun and the restaurant is clean. read more

I love Laughing Planet! There isn't very many options out there that offer fresh, healthy food that's not only delicious, but also won't empty out your wallet. You'll feel the laid back vibe as soon as you walk in and will more than likely be welcomed by a friendly staff member who'll jump at the opportunity to help you guide through the menu if it's your first time in. I have a love/hate relationship with Laughing Planet but it's the love and the dinosaurs that always keeps me coming back! First I love that they offer vegan options, tons of items on the menu can also be modified to be made vegan. They once had some kind of drunken vegan red beans on special and they were super delicious. (Please add them to your regular menu!) They also have a Bollywood bowl that has a delicious sauce that I love, however they have changed the ingredients since I have first started to eat here and I'm not a big fan of the chickpeas, I will definitely sub out for black beans next time I order it. They are always very accommodating to all our requests. I had a build your own taco bowl the other night and it was amazing... However, sometimes at night the food comes out cold, like just came out of a refrigerator cold. If you order the weekly special bowl as a burrito, they charge you for the price of the bowl but it is not as much food as you would get in the bowl. If you omit the meat and tofu or tempeh offered they don't give you extra beans or rice to make up for it, instead you just get a super tiny burrito. On one occasion the server noticed how small my burrito was and said she would remake it, only for it to be filled with about a cup full of guacamole! Not only did it make the food ice cold but it was awful... We have recently started coming back and the food seems to have improved. I still rate laughing planet with 5 stars because they have a unique variety of options for all diet types, they offer vegan cookies, and when they get the food right and it's hot, it's goooood! *****************************************************updated review as of 12/9/17 Came in with my husband for two diy taco bowls no pork and no cheese, sub extra beans and rice... we used our laughing planet stamp cards since we had two filled up... so technically dinner tonight was free. The corn tortillas were cold to the touch and the inside was broken pieces of tortilla... my husband asked for replacements with no issue, although now we have our food getting cold while we wait for fresh tortillas. They forgot to put lettuce on our bowls, I request some on the side. By the time our new tortillas came out, our food was not hot. These bowls are almost $10 each, and we basically get steamed rice, black beans, pico de Gallo and guacamole. Super disappointed in our food this evening! We are not really sure why this place is always hit or miss, especially at night time. Btw, it's a Saturday night but they only had 3 other tables so it wasn't busy. Bummed about our dinner this evening. Well, we ordered our food and went to stand outside of the restaurant borders to wait for it. We were more than 10' away from anyone else, in full sunlight, which kills viruses in seconds. We were not allowed to wait for our food, even off site, unless we wore masks. So we left. They are definitely intent in controlling behavior, not just following established CDC guidelines to "protect our health". They have lost our business for good. July 18, 2020 Update: In retrospect, I was an asshole here. Just shocked and angry at being controlled when I believe masks are harming us instead of helping. With a name like Laughing Planet and overwhelmingly positive reviews, I had to give it a try on a Sunday afternoon when I had about an hour to kill. I'm not vegan. Heck I am not even a vegetarian, I'll happily eat a steak with the best of them. But I was happy to see they had a variety of vegan/vegetarian options for people more discerning than myself with the menu carefully advising customers. The menu also advises whether dishes have nuts, whether they are gluten free, and whether they are paleo friendly. I decided to have the weekly special, posole soup along with a side order of chips and salsa. The soup was excellent, with just the right amount of spice to add a kick without being overpowering. There was a nice mix of vegetables, including d iced radishes, avocado, and hominy. The version I had read vegetarian, though you could add meat for a reasonable up charge. I finished my bowl and could have eaten more, but the amount I had was satisfying. The chips are homemade, as is the salsa. The mild salsa is green and had almost a lime afterbight. The medium is red, not particularly sweet, and has a bite to it. The toy dinosaurs at the table are a nice treat for the young and the young at heart. While the menu seems primarily Mexican, they also have a variety of Asian themed dishes. I will have one of those next time. I doubt I will be disappointed. read more

Just what I needed after a bumpy flight into town! Tried the Harvest Bowl as recommended by the cashier, who was so kind and helpful and wonderful - which is why I'm giving five stars (see below). The Harvest Bowl was delicious. Even without the dressing, the veggies were flavorful and vibrant. Add the dressing, if you want a spicy garlic pick-me-up. It's really good either way. On the whole, the food is a solid 4.5 stars. They deliver what's expected: feel-good food. The .5 extra goes to fantastic customer service. She was friendly and authentic. Very accommodating! She subbed the tempeh with some brussels they had on hand to suit my request. I also got a chocolate hazelnut cookie (gluten-free, vegan). It was so-so. Next time I'll just get an extra Harvest Bowl! Would you like to eat in a land before time? Seriously, there are dinosaur action figures on top of each table. Everything about this place is cool, from the vintage art hanging on the walls, light fixtures, menu selections to the shadow boxes that hold very cool items. I highly suggest the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla and Snickerdoodle cookie. I would get these over and over again. The Korean bowl has great flavors and is perfect for those not expecting your traditional Korean type of food. Laughing planet's bowl is more on the leaner side. I would get this dish again. The Summer Vindaloo on the other hand was a little too healthy for me. The rice just didn't mesh well with the toppings and I would've like a bit more kick, creaminess and fat. I guess I'm just to used to traditional style Indian food. Their Mango Lassi smoothie is nothing like the sweet thick ones from Indian restaurants. If you want a healthier (not as sweet) version with a different twist on flavor, give it a try. The other two smoothies were good. They tasted avg and I mainly would drink them for nutritional value: They're also pricey so consider making your own at home. -berry berry good -Marionberry ginger(beware of the fresh ginger taste) My vegetarian mom and dad raved about their Amazin Grace quesadilla and House Made Veggie Chili.
