This cake place is amazing. Really light and they have lots of goodies in the store. Got a small cake for my parents anniversary and my dads birthday. The process of getting the cake was super simple. Make sure to order it a couple of days in advance if you have a celebration taking place and then you just pick it up. No hassle. This is our second time here. 1st visit lemon lavender cake was really good. The flourless chocolate it was not good. Chocolate eclair was very very basic borderline dry. 2nd visit lemon cake was soggy (see the pic with the finger impression) I guess u need to serve it when it's fresh, we were served the last end piece. Tried the Lemon Blueberry Cake and the Chocolate Cake with my husband and we did not finish them. I hate leaving a bad review for a small business but the cakes were not good. The cake portion of Lemon Blueberry was bland and had a fine crumb that disintegrated in my mouth in a gross way. The outer frosting had a soapy flavor. The Chocolate cake was so plain. My husband and I will usually devour anything chocolate but not this. I gave a star for the delicious Summer Peach iced tea. read more

Absolutely terrible experience at layer cake bakery!!! I ordered a "cupcake cake" for my sister in law's 50th birthday. I sent a picture showing what I wanted and was told it could easily be done. I said I would be there early Saturday morning (the day of the party) to pick it up. When I arrived, i saw the flowers I had dropped off the day before (for the cake toppers) sitting in a vase on the counter--clearly it wasn't ready! The cake decorator who I thought was the owner (still unclear about who I dealt with) showed up 20 minutes later and never even addressed me. She walked into the front, grabbed the flowers (ignoring the fact that I was 3 feet away and clearly she was late) and seemed inconvenienced by it all! After waiting almost 40 minutes, it was ready. She told me the pick up time was stated wrong on the invoice even though I'd clearly stated I'd be there around opening time (which is why I dropped the flowers off the day before). The cake looks pretty enough so I left - having no options at this point. I drove so cautiously on the way home that I got honked at for going too slow. when I opened the boxes at home I was horrified. The cupcakes hadn't been secured at all and slid all around the waxy box bottom! It was such a rookie maneuver!! I could possibly forgive this disaster if the cupcakes were any good but they were dry and tasteless. I looked around the party of 50 ladies, and no one ate them...a few honest people admitted, "yep, these were pretty bad! I hope you didn't pay too much for these!" I could've done better at Costco!!! For a $175 cake, this was AWFUL! All the way around, brutal experience. I told the shop what had happened and got nothing but lip service. Any professional would be equally horrified and would refund my money. DO NOT COME HERE for specialty cakes. I'm attaching a photo-- it was supposed to be a "cupcake cake" in the shape of a 50 - where the frosting is placed in a layer over the cupcakes, helping them stay together. This was the best the restaurant could do in restructuring after they slid all over the box! So bad! read more

Hi, I really wanted to give this 5 stars. The cakes are beautiful. I ordered the Devil's chocolate cake 9' 45.00. I sampled an unfrosted slice to make sure we'd like it. The sample was delicious but the cake I picked up was dry and appeared to be stale. The frosting was discolored (we followed instructions and kept in box in fridge until the next day. Took it out 30/45 min before we were going to serve it). It was not worth the price. Worse, when i called to let them know the person who answered the phone said she'd talk to the manager and would have them call me back. I told her I wasn't looking for a new cake but just wanted to let them know. Well, it's been 3 days and I'm still waiting for a call back. Not good. Yuck. read more

I've been a for customer years. What keeps bringing me back is their phenomenal-tasting Belgian Devil's Chocolate Cake. Love chocolate cake like me? LCB's got something special going on with their's. By the way, they sell the full cake, and also by the slice. We just got a whole cake for my wife's birthday. Everyone raved about it. Friendly staff too. And, they just renovated their store. I was looking for a bakery that would create a custom cake designed to look like the tower in the Disney movie Tangled for my daughter's princess bday party. Liz emailed me a picture of a cake she had done for someone else and I loved it but the quoted price was higher than I was expecting. Liz was so great and willing to work with me on the price. We agreed to a lower price for less detail on the cake. The cake still looked amazing! All of my guests commented on how amazing the cake looked AND it tasted great too. The texture and flavor of the cake was really delicious! I was also happy with the customer service/ communication. Liz responds to emails and even gives her cell phone no. She was willing to change to colors on the cake to what I wanted. I was 100% satisfied (which is rare for me) with the service and final product. ill definitely be returning to this bakery! read more

There are about 12 or so flavors to choose from. The flavors aren't very distinct though, which I was a bit disappointed with. also, the macarons are kind of weird, because there's like a huge air pocket in the cookie, instead of just cookie, filling, cookie. It's more like thin layer of cookie, AIR, cookie, filling, cookie.. I mean, they're still good, I guess. And not that expensive, but I've been to a different bakery in the area (Pascal Epicerie), that had macarons for $1, and were just as good, but not as pretty. Service was pretty good. They answer all questions kindly, and yeah! I heard the cakes are super fantastic, so I guess I'll be trying those next time! This bakery has been a constant in my life, growing up in Irvine. The macarons here are pretty good, and decently sized. But what is really special about this place is the cake. The slices are a bit pricey ($5.50 each) but they are MASSIVE. I can never finish one in a single sitting, even with a friend helping me. I also recently ordered a two-tiered cake in Red Velvet and Belgian Chocolate for my birthday party, and it was a huge hit! The cake was moist and dense, the buttercream was thick and creamy. The prices are reasonable , no one is breaking the bank. 4. Fresh ingredients are used in all of the items in the menu! You can taste it with every bit. 5. Baked goods , wow, just wow ! 6. Their Brioche French toast was so good ! I was so disappointed about their service the macarons were so good though. The staff at the counter didn't greet me or say thank you. Even she didn't smile. She turned around the machine that says tip and signature and she just walked away from the counter before I signed it up. Now, I understand why some people mentioned about how bad the service was. This place is a few blocks from my work. I love the decor, customer service, fresh pastries (almond croissant), and coffee. Nothing more relaxing than being able to enjoy a yummy latte and sit by their glass windows. I do wish they opened earlier than 7am ( some days I start at 7am) but that's okay... The filling was not the same. I was mislead. In addition, this place is very expensive if you ordered a cake for your Child's bday. I paid $150 for a chocolate cake w/ a theme for my son's bday. I was told to get a the items/figurines and bring it to them to finish off the decoration. I didn't mind and did all that, but overall experience was not pleasant.
