Banh mi with grilled pork (10/10): grilled pork is flavorful and the pickled veggies are a perfect pairing. The baguette is soft, never stale, and crunchy on the outside. Add a fried egg, it is a great addition. Rice noodle (Bun) with grilled pork (10/10): delish! Same grilled pork they use for the banh mi sandwich. Fresh veggies that aren't browning. Vietnamese coffee (10/10): dark and strong, like it should be. Chicken wings (8/10) Grilled octopus skewers (10/10) Garlic butter prawn banh mi (8/10): there is a batter coating on the prawns and the prawns were pretty large so it was a little hard to get a bite where things didn't just fall apart. Shaken beef banh mi (8/10): very saucey so it made the bread a little soggy BUT it was very very tasty. Pho bo (10/10): served with birds eye chili so there's a NICE kick. Yes, it is pricy for Vietnamese/fusion food.. but MAN is it worth it! Dropped by for a to-go order after a long day and was met with friendly folks and good food! We got 1 lb crawfish (add 2 potatoes for $1) and the summer roll. The crawfish was garlicky/citrusy/lip smackingly delicious. The summer roll (grilled pork patty, crispy egg roll, vermicelli, cucumber and herbs) was refreshing with the perfect crunch. I'll definitely be back for the banh mi's! read more

Okay lucky for her we're professionals, so right off the bat since we had the time to think about it we order our drinks and appetizers. We tell her later on ask us what we want for entrees. Okay drinks eventually come out, appetizers come out, we order our entree, the server did come by one time during the appetizers to ask how everything was, but didn't really do much else. She could have asked us for more drinks, and probably would have gotten another round out of us. Okay then the entree comes and we share a fish whole fish it has a sauce. No new plates, fish with sauce served without a spoon. The only utensils are the forks we started with. Server is at the end of the bar looking at her phone or talking to the bartender. And only notices activity from our table when I get out of my seat to come towards her to ask her for fresh plates and then the spoon. The dessert I wanted that they're kind of known for is an ube tiramisu. And they were out of it. Limited production. That's nobody's fault but the owners. Okay now because we're restaurant people we still left 20% tip however that's the bare minimum for me. This restaurant isn't very fancy but it's also not a fast food restaurant. It's casual setting, there's a bar they have drinks they have food. Service is taught, it's not natural, and it takes more than an order taker to be a server. Maybe the training was the bare minimum, maybe this person had limited experience before. But It's called Wait Staff, cause you supposed to be waiting for me to want something or better yet anticipate so I don't have to wait. Maybe I'll just expect less... I believe Le Bleu has some of the best banh mi I've tasted in the city of Austin. Their grilled pork is super flavorful, their bread is fresh and everything inside was super tasty. But the important thing to note is that the food at Le Bleu seems a little more than what you would pay at a typical Vietnamese restaurant. High quality ingredients but at a premium. For example, you will be paying roughly $4 extra for a grilled pork banh mi here compared to the other competitors in the area. Is the extra $4 worth it, IMO only sometimes. Le Bleu also has spring rolls and summer rolls. I would generally avoid these for the price. These rolls are about $9 a piece and you are essentially getting two full size egg rolls split into two(equals to 4 pieces). Though the peanut dipping sauce was delicious, I think these are overpriced by about $4 dollars as well. Everything we have tried at Le Bleu has been great. Just know that all the food is priced at a premium. We might be back but it won't be our go to place for when I am craving banh mi. read more

I split the garlic prawn banh mi & the OG with a friend and loved the prawns. The shrimp is lightly battered, kinda like tempura batter. It's not super garlicky, but each of the shrimps were large and juicy. The OG banh mi was pretty good, but my friend and I each found the thick layer of pate to be a bit overwhelming. Spring rolls were tasty, although the rolls weren't very big, each bite had shrimp and pork, so it was a win for quality over quantity. The mango salad was a refreshing mix of green mangoes and green papayas - something I hadn't tried before but the green mangos made it extra fruity. They also included a fried pork rind in there which added extra crunch and some balance to the bright, tart dressing. Altogether they use quality ingredients and it's a very tasty meal. The choice to change from a traditional fish sauce without stipulating that on your menu when it's not only got spice to it (i like spice, but not my vermicelli), but it's chock full of mint (which i don't even like in my toothpaste). Unfortunately, I didn't realize there was a sauce change until I had poured it all over the meal. Which means I just spent $13 on food I now get to throw out because of there not being an accurate menu. If someone had an allergy to any of these ingredients, it'd be bad news. This was my first and last meal here. Never trust an "upscaled" version of a food that was just fine as it's meant to be served. Overpriced, flavorless, and dry with a sauce that's not at all described (and should be). Hard pass on this if you have food allergies or sensitivities as the emphasis here is more 'how fancy can we make this seem' instead of leaving a staple as it is. Super disappointing and I wish I had my money back. Delicious! First time getting to try Banh Mi and it was amazing. Also my first time trying the mango salad and I was not disappointed. The servers were great. So kind and attentive. Jael in particular was fantastic. Gave great recommendations and came back to fill waters and drinks the perfect amount. The ambiance was very cute and fun. Lots of nice natural light and bright colors. The drinks looked so unique and fun but I didn't get to try them yet. The food was delectable. I got the mango salad and the OG Banh mi. I had never had either before but was very satisfied and happy. I'm not the biggest fan of like a European style liver pate but this pate that was on the sandwich was amazing! It had nice warming spices in it which made me think of a pho broth which is quite pleasant. The pickled daikon and carrots were a nice crunchy foil to the soft pate and the chewy pork belly. I've been wanting to try Le Bleu out for a while (especially the crawfish)! Last time I suggested it as an option, it was ruled out because they only do to-go orders from crawfish. I think this is actually pretty smart since it keeps their restaurant clean from crazy crawfish messes. Crawfish - order was ready when I arrived to pick up. We got 8lbs for our family and it was packaged in a large tin container wrapped in foil. It was decently heat-insulated so when we arrived home, it was still pretty fresh. The potatoes, corn, and mushrooms had absorbed all the garlicky goodness of the sauce. If you're always disappointed by the lack of flavor in crawfish boil potatoes, you won't be here! Crawfish was fresh and you didn't get any of the baby crawfish you sometimes get in boils. The flavor was excellent - super garlicky, a little buttery, a slight sweetness, and a nice not overbearing spice. Plenty of garlic and sauce at the end if you wanted to top rice with the flavor. Tofu Banh Mi - we got two of these in case the crawfish wasn't enough. These were delicious, I've never tried tofu banh mi, but it was well done. The egg rolls was meh... it was so salty... the pork bun was overly salty... only good thing about it was that the vegetables that came with it were really fresh.. the summer roll had like a very bright red color to it like they put heavy red dye in it. A crucial aspect to a good banh xeo is making sure it is super super crispy. It was quite soggy which already knocked it down some points. It was also lacking the array of herbs that it typically comes with. They did provide slices of mango instead of carrots which was an interesting touch! I've been wanting to check out this place since they're known for their banh mi! We came here on a Sunday evening, and it wasn't crowded. We ordered the original banh mi with pork and pate, and summer rolls. I ordered a side pho beef broth with it to dip with my banh mi. For my thoughts on the food, I would say it's not bad. The banquette for the banh mi was crispy and had the right texture when you bite into it. I am usually not a big fan of pate because of its gamey-ness but it tasted pretty good here! The pork filling though wasn't as original like the ones you normally see stuffed in your banh mi's (chả lụa, thit nguội , etc.) . They reminded me more of like carnitas meat. The fermented veggies were on point though. As for the summer roll, or nem nuong spring rolls, it was decent. I did like the pho broth a lot and probably would order a bowl of pho next time! Overall, I'd give this place a 4/5. I wouldn't say it's 100% authentic, because it had a bit of a fused twist to some of the things on the menu. The decor was nice and despite the low staff on waiters, they still are very nice and prompt with getting the food out and answering our questions/needs. Le Bleu is one of those restaurants where I could literally eat *anything* off the menu and like it. This is, for lack of a better word, 'upscale' Vietnamese cuisine. I'd even call it slightly Westernized, but in a good way. (Note: Westernized in a 'bad' way would be like adding french fries to Chinese dim sum - not terrible, but jarring.) For example, the addition of a slice of warm, smoked pork belly to the OG (Original Gangsta) Banh Mi is surprising, but very welcome! Peppercorn chicken nuggets? Bring it on! And their Bun bowls (grilled meat with rice vermicelli) are excellent. Easy parking and easy to get to off Burnet and Hwy 183. The decor is amusing (Fish traps for lights? Cool!) and the service is friendly. This is a tad expensive for Vietnamese food but like I said, it's been slightly upgraded. I'll definitely be coming back. Wow. Le Bleu serves some amazing food. My favourites so far are the bun with garlic butter prawns, pho ga and chef's special salt & pepper shrimp. Everything tastes soooo good. The shrimp are simply enormous, and the kitchen always cooks them just right, never tough or rubbery. The vegetables and herbs are super fresh, nary a wilt or brown spot anywhere -- a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Their prices are higher than conventional Viet restaurants. With a friendly welcome immediately inside the front door, I placed a to-go order for the OG BÁNH MÌ, which has Vietnamese cold cuts, pork belly, Pork Liver Paté, and fresh veggies on French bread. I chose to omit the pork belly (I'm not a fan of the texture), but I didn't miss it. Bottom line: I loved every bite! The pate is a MUST. It is a generous spread on this sandwich, with a slight kick of spice. You can have it added to anything you order for an additional $2, and you won't be sorry. The sandwich was in perfect balance: the bread was perfect --crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, but not too thick. The fresh, crunchy veggies (cucumber, carrots, jalapeños, and cilantro) were a perfect complement to the pate and cold cuts. I also ordered a side of their house made fish sauce to dip my bread in. Yum. They offer a cup of plain beef bone marrow broth (Pho Bò), which I found to be very tasty, if somewhat over-salted. I added some sriracha and hoisin (packets nicely supplied by Le Bleu), along with some Thai basil and cilantro that I had at home, which evened everything out deliciously. I look forward to exploring other items on the menu after this flavorsome first visit! Both of my experiences with Le Bleu have been really positive. The first time I had their food was a to go order. The portions are large and the ingredients are so fresh and bright. My second experience was dining in. The menu is limited, but they do have vegan and vegetarian options. The gluten free options are seriously lacking, but lucky for me I'm not on a GF diet. The Brussel sprouts are an appetizer and can easily be split between 2-3 people. I had the pork bun and was impressed. The price and the quantity are a great deal. I had enough to take for another day. The ONLY thing I will say I regret is taking the Brussel sprouts to go. They made my fridge and kitchen smell like a fart and I couldn't bring myself to eat them again. But that's on me. Phenomenal Vietnamese food. So I live near Zilker Park and avoid North Austin like the plague. The traffic, the less appealing architecture, and The Domain (sorry, just not a fan). But I recently discovered a little gem that is located in an unassuming strip mall up north: Le Bleu. Let me tell you, it's worth every minute of the drive. I'd even be willing to go up there during rush hour. That's how good it is. Le Bleu serves simple Vietnamese street food, but there's nothing ordinary about the flavor and fresh ingredients..... and it's hands down the best Vietnamese food in all of Austin. It doesn't have the fancy, Instagrammable, ultra modern aesthetic that so many restaurants downtown have, but it's run by a family who genuinely seems to care about the quality of their food. On this one particular occasion (I've been twice so far), my friend and I shared the spring and summer rolls. The fresh ingredients paired so well with the peanut dipping sauce. I then ordered the Garlic Butter Prawn Banh Mi, which was just scrumptious. Soft, crispy baguette filled with prawns fried in a light corn batter with scallion-garlic butter, kewpie mayo, romaine lettuce, and radish. The perfect balance of flavors, texture, and not greasy whatsoever. I was also really impressed with their drink menu. I had a lychee cocktail which was delicious and not too sweet.
