A bistro menu with wonderful food The staff was great and very professional. Appropriately friendly. Foodmates raved about the mac & cheese/lobster, tasty shrimp & avocado salad. Order the frites 'for the table' as soon as you order beverages. Very creative and flavorful' Morrocan chicken' My salmon niçoise was really salmon on a bed of string beans (delish but not what was expected) The 'touted' vanilla ice cream was not worth the calories but the crepe was consumed with glee by all Ez parking on street Nice neighborhood for the stroll (We love a full menu with desserts listed)

Food was amazing , wonderful presentation and appropriate amounts. Wonderful staff. Delicious deserts . Unlike other restaurants food was distinct and not overdone or over salted. Would definitely go back and recommend for a special occasion!

Little brown feeling, diner like. Burger was cooked medium, flavorful and the fries were crispy. The steak and fries was delicious, simple seasoning with a tasty onion flavor. The onion soup was a nice starter to share.

Stopped in for a very late lunch on the Friday after Christmas. The place was empty but the servers were awesome. We both had the French onion soup and shared a burger. Both were very good. The soup was hot and cheesy. The half of the burger was the perfect amount of food if you are not really hungry. Cool ambience, nice seat at the window overlooking the quaint town of Bristol. I would definitely recommend stopping in.

Very cute french bistro serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.. My first time going and had a tough time selecting from their brunch menu. My 3 friend's and I loved our breakfast waffles and fresh berries with the best whipped cream I've ever had. My friend had the lemon ricotta crepes which she said were the best crepes she's ever had. I enjoyed my cappuccino and we had a side of the cinnamon sugar popovers. I'll definitely visit again!

Salad of Endive & Roasted Beets

I brought hubby here for a date night a few weekends ago. I made our reservation via OpenTable, and used their rating system to decide on Le Central over other similarly popular date night options in the Bristol/Barrington/Warren area. We parked on the street and walked in a little before our reservation. The place was surprisingly sparsely attended, despite being a weekend night at prime dinner time. The good news was that we were given our choice of basically any table, and we picked one with a good view of the restaurant. To start, we began with the endive salad, which was hands down the best thing we ate all night. The endives were crisp and fresh, and were topped with toasted walnuts, sweet beets, tangy gorgonzola, and were just really delicious. Even thought we said we were going to share the salad, they took the liberty of plating it split for us. After that we tried the onion soup. It was extremely heavy, like perhaps it had cooked down too long. It was also weirdly boozy, like they deglazed the pan with something alcoholic and it hadn't cooked off yet. It was also very salty, and flavor-wise was not well-balanced. For dinner, he opted for the grilled Moroccan chicken and I went for the grilled lobster. His chicken was similar to my soup, not well seasoned, and had the wrong ratio of spices for the flavor they were trying for. My lobster was well cooked, but it was completely not salted at all, including the accompanying veggies which were bland and not seasoned. The food was so unimpressive, we opted not to stay for dessert and walked down the street and got ice cream elsewhere. If we had only had the salad, our experience would have been so different, but unfortunately it was the one-off in comparison to the rest of the dishes. Service was good and friendly, and the restaurant had a good atmosphere with decent prices, but they lost us on the either over seasoning or lack of seasoning. Would not likely return.

    Lemon Ricotta Crepes very good!

The bartenders were very helpful to our friends who are new to craft cocktails. They stick with vodka martinis. I started with a paper plane, which was very well-made. I then tried one of their specials, the Fig Leaf Old Fashioned, which was fabulous. Everyone had a fabulous time, and we will definitely be back to try some of the Absinthe recipes. I hope my fellow Yelpers support a new cocktail place. We need more of them.

Enchanting. If you…read morehave not been to The Franklin in Bristol, go! Open for just over a year, The Franklin is the newest inspiration from the owners of Groundswell... and stepping through its doors feels a little like falling down the rabbit hole into a wonderfully grown-up, decidedly French Wonderland. But what enchanted us most about The Franklin is that nothing about it suggests this kind of dining should be reserved for a special occasion. Quite the opposite. This is simply how dinner should be. You dine by the flicker of real candlelight, surrounded by a moody French Arts & Crafts-inspired interior with floral-spun linens and eclectic china, where flowers, pattern, texture, and shadow conspire to create something wonderfully transporting. It is romantic, eccentric, intimate and beautiful, but also remarkably comfortable. The effect is one of permission to settle in, put away the distractions, order another glass, and actually enjoy the increasingly rare pleasure of a long dinner and uninterrupted conversation with the person across the table. And THEN the feast begins. This is French cuisine as it was meant to be experienced: decadent without being excessive, luxurious without being heavy. There is a reverence here for food and its preparation by people who clearly love their craft; the ingredients, the techniques, and the rituals and traditions of preparing and serving a beautiful meal. Our evening began simply and perfectly with a bread basket and sweet cream butter. Then came the truffle croquettes, little bites of tarragon forward indulgences. The filet mignons were superb, accompanied by beautiful boulangère potatoes, rich, deeply satisfying and exquisitely prepared. And because the special truffle and lamb pastas sounded too glorious to pass up, we ordered each to go to enjoy for dinner the next day. Because no proper trip through Wonderland should end without cheese, we finished with a cheese plate that included local cheeses, honeycomb, and drunken fruits along with cappuccinos for dessert. The drinks deserve their own chapter. Our choices: Champagne, an elderflower apéritif, The Franklin Manhattan, and a beautiful Sangiovese were each superb, complementing the flavors of the meal. And through it all, the service was exceptional. The servers are consummate hospitality professionals... knowledgeable, intuitive and gracious, with that increasingly rare quality of people who not only excel at what they do, but genuinely delight in doing it. You get the remarkable sense that they take as much pleasure in presenting each course as you do in discovering it. AND, they speak freely and warmly of their employers' excellent treatment of them, which clearly contributes to the spirit of the entire experience-- VISION LEAKS!!! And perhaps that is what The Franklin gets so wonderfully right. Somewhere along the way, we began treating a long, beautiful dinner as an extravagance reserved for anniversaries and celebrations. The Franklin makes you remember that it doesn't have to be. Dinner itself can be the occasion. Real candles should flicker on the table. Linen should feel beautiful beneath your hands. Unique plates should be uncovered as you enjoy your dish. Drinks should arrive in lovely glasses. Dinner should unfold slowly. Food should be prepared with reverence. Service should feel like an old friend welcoming you to their table. And you should look across at your dinner partner and realize that there is nowhere else you would rather be. The Franklin is a little mysterious, a little romantic, a little eccentric, thoroughly French and completely enchanting. But more than anything, it reminds you of something we seem to have forgotten: a beautiful dinner doesn't need an occasion. A beautiful dinner is the occasion. We happily disappeared down the rabbit hole. We intend to do so again very soon.

The first thing they…read morebrought was almost comical: a nickel-sized square of focaccia with a bit of jam and cheese. I have never in my life been served what I'd consider half a bite of food. I'd almost rather they bring nothing at all than a comically small piece of bread. My food (basil pesto pasta) was good but the quantities are quite small, especially for the price. TLDR: Don't come hungry or on a budget. The real reason for the low rating was the $34 mushroom entree. "Potatoes" here just means two bites of potato, which is kind of crazy considering how cheap potatoes are. "Carrots" meant 4 (kind of sad) carrots, and the mushroom (the main part of the dish) was so small it was comical. My dad was disappointed (he also wanted to love it here) and when they asked how it was, he gave his honest feedback. The waitress took the info back and he repeated his thoughts to the manager about the disappointing portion. He said he only got like two bites of potato and she said "oh they weren't in pyramids?" (Like that resolves the quantity of food?) He repeated again that it was about the quantity and was told "No one has said that about this." I suppose people must only have thought it... Felt really dismissive to say to someone, especially because this plate was apparently new (they said today was the first day they had it). They didn't comp anything or even discount it after the manager came over, which I feel like is standard practice when folks are unhappy with their meal. Felt like she just wanted to shut down the complaint rather than resolve it. They brought us, at the end of the meal, a "thank you" which was 2 lemon candies... there were 3 of us (not that we really wanted them anyway, but weird to not give at least one per person). The atmosphere is relaxed, the place is quite small in a sweet way and it's tucked away from the street, but I will never return. Ridiculous pricing for tiny portions. It felt like a SNL skit.

Everyone who works there is friendly and inviting, and even gave us a cute little amuse to start the night and the buckwheat shortbread to end. Appetizers: fried squash blossoms stuffed with tofu ricotta in pomodoro sauce, and housemade focaccia with a trio of whipped butters (thyme and shallot, Calabrian chili, and smoked sweet onion). The ratio of butter to focaccia was more than double what we could use (we ordered more focaccia to spread it on!) but both of these apps were perfect. Foglia burger: house burger patty, tomato jam, garlic aioli, lettuce, onions, pickles, onion ring, housemade focaccia, and spicy agave parsnip fries (my dad's entree and to my delight he really enjoyed it!) Dessert: a gigantic slice of tiramisu (my favorite cake!). This was a huge slab, enough to share and have some leftover for breakfast. A little on the dry side for tiramisu but still really nice. Foglia is such a gem and we had a great time in Bristol, it's a beautiful town. The restaurant is small and cozy but was not too busy when we went. I highly recommend Foglia for a special occasion!

The indoor seating we were put in was a high top, but it was just enough room to seat 5 people comortably. I also had a fun mocktail with a dragonfruit (unfortunately can't find the name of the drink, but the picture is below) to pair with my food--I will say that while it was tasty, it was pretty sweet but was the perfect pair with my Bayview Burger, which was a bit on the saltier side. The only downside to our experience is that once it did start getting pretty busy in the restaurant, the service was much much slower (which is a given with how busy it was) and we had to ask a different waiter to help us get our check and head out. Sure enough, the printed menu also said nothing about an upcharge for a different fry, so ultimately I was able to remove the charge, but it was a little awkward and frustrating. My only other complaint is not particularly the fault of the restaurant, but I suppose just a side effect of the laidback vibes. A group of 7 or 8 people came in like 20 minutes after us and was so loud that I almost suggested we leave. My guess is they were drunk, but it was a Wednesday night around 6:00, so I wouldn't have expected that. They were so loud that I was yelling to my friend who was within arm's length. Totally changed the vibe and enjoyment for me.

The atmosphere was comfortable and charming. The food and drinks were incredible. Everything was perfectly made and flavorful. I only wish I had been hungry enough to try everything! I Cannot recommend the lamb highly enough, and implore anyone going to not miss a chance to try the soufflé.

When I saw "Fine French Dining" as a dinner option in Newport, I was excited as we were celebrating…read morea birthday and also because I was trained in classical French cuisine. Upon arrival we were greeted quite quickly and my coat dispatched to the cloak closet. The hostess took us through the bar to a two top and let us know our Captain would be with us shortly. While waiting my partner and I both selected cocktails from the menu. The Captain arrived and took our drink orders, also letting us know that there would be two dessert specials, both of which required ordering at the beginning of the meal as they took time to prepare. Both the Grand Marnier Souffle and the Tart Tatin sounded wonderful. Cocktails came after a short wait, and we put in our order: To Start-Beef Tartar and Sweetbreads, followed by Caesar Salads for us both; and then Duck for my partner and Filet for myself (both medium rare). We selected a hearty Pinot Noir to go with the apps and entrees. This would be one of the few times we saw the "Captain" throughout the meal, and to be honest I'm pretty sure they were short at least one server, as most of the food was delivered by the bus boy (I can't give him the honorific of commis or assistant) or the bar tender. Bread and butter were dropped unceremoniously on the table, and that's ok because the French bread was average and the slice of butter tube was nothing special. A few grains of black or pink salt would have kicked it up a bit, a short spiel about the local bakery that makes the bread could have been nice, something about the local herbs and honey in the butter could be good (there wasn't any but hey I can dream...) Our Waiter returned with wine and offered to pour early so it could breathe but no need as it's a Pinot Noir and we have some time as we were both finishing the cocktails (which were also very well made and tasty), but the offer was appreciated. Appetizers came , and the bus boy had to be told who got which one, but to be honest the sweetbreads were just fantastic. The beef tartar was good but nothing amazing. The wine went very well with both. This is where the night turned a bit south, as the "salads" came out. Using a 6inch ring mold, the kitchen chopped romaine to the point where it was smaller than ¼ inch by ¼ inch sized, then tossed that in a very light dressing consisting of mostly anchovies. Finally the entire ring of lettuce was crusted with bread crumbs (and I assume parmesan) providing a 1/2 inch tall salad 6 inches across with gritty topping and tasting very much of umami but not so much like Caesar salad. To the point where we couldn't eat them and they had to be taken off the bill. Entrée Time. Once again the inability to code the ticket so that the servers know which entrée goes to which guest is just subpar. The duck, while crispy on the skin was way past medium rare and seemed a bit small for a full duck breast. Sauce and Rillette was pretty good. Filet (when I pronounced the 'T' during the ordering process the server didn't understand, but I guess that's just me being picky) was also well past medium rare, the bordelaise was fair and the beets were great. We ate the food as it was there and we were now hungry and realizing this was not to be the amazing meal that we thought it would be. Our bus boy came back to clear and take coffee orders. I was also going to get a Grand Marnier to go with the souffle and cork the remainder of bottle 2 of the Pinot Noir but when I asked for an Americano he was completely lost so I just asked for a 'cup of coffee' and my partner had a double espresso. I didn't want to burden this poor guy with more things he didn't know about like aperitifs. The Souffle came out and busboy tried to make a show of breaking the crust and adding crème anglaise to it, but it just didn't work for him, maybe because the crème anglaise was so think it didn't pour it kinda glopped off the spoon. That's OK because when we broke into the souffle it turned out to be fancy scrambled eggs (so they overcooked or overwhipped or both). The tart tatin was again 6 inch ring mold sized and looked like a fried egg white on a piece of toast. True it tasted good but it was in no way shape of form a decent Julia Child like tart tatin. The server came over and I asked him to remove the souffle and also informed him that his tip wouldn't be so very good as he didn't check on the cook on the entrees nor the dessert until it was pretty much time for the check. After removing the two salads and the desert, our bill was still over $400 for the meal, which is, to be completely honest, about $200 more than it was worth.
