Even though I only know how to make omelettes but ahem, I do cut vegetables, avocado, chicken, and steak. So Zwilling has been making knives since the 1700s, they're like the Porsche of German steel. We were immediately attracted to the 20 piece Pro which is made in Soligen, Germany. We wanted a natural block but they was outta stock (hey that rhymes), I'm about to bust it!! So we went with the darker block. Ahem, the knives are incredibly sharp and the set looks very well made. I'm very pleased and thus far, I've cut avocado, broccoli and chicken breast, and hot dogs (from Omaha steaks - but that's a different review) using an assortment of knives - dang, be careful!! Five (5) stars to David, he was exceptional in servicing us despite the number of people in the store, he answered a multitude of our questions like he was being paid by the question. The knives were delivered in a timely manner. I registered my purchase and will be receiving a free gift from Zwilling. Danke schein - David and Zwilling!!

The facility was clean, and our instructor, Tim, was great--knowledgeable and full of pro tips. Unfortunately, the experience after the class was disappointing. After paying $109 per person, we were surprised to find that we had to stand while eating the meal we had just prepared. We also were not allowed to take any leftovers home. We've attended several cooking classes in Chicago as well as other cities, and every one of them provided seating so guests could comfortably enjoy their meal, as well as take-home containers for leftovers. Not allowing guests to take food home seems unnecessarily wasteful. It's difficult not to wonder whether the leftovers simply end up being discarded or eaten by staff. For the price of the class, providing chairs and take-home containers seems like a reasonable expectation. While Tim and the quality of the instruction were excellent, these two policies significantly detracted from the overall experience. Unfortunately, because of these inconveniences, we won't be attending another Sur La Table cooking class.

The mall does have a big parking lot so shy of Black Friday to middle of January... there should be no issues finding a spot. The store itself is beautifully laid out. During my visit, they had a great selection of products. And it seemed they were all ~10% off retail price (probably due to being an outlet store?). However, I did see a lot of signs saying an addition 30-50% off on random tables and area with some possible excisions so talk to an associate. Being an outlet store, you will have be less picky about the color but that is fine with me. I own different brands and colors so my house is like a rainbow. Today, I was interested in a deep lasagna pan. And I found a rack of them with an addition 30% off. Score! Overall, I wish I could have spend more time at the store. But my 2 year old was getting antsy and there are a lot of heavy and breakable items. However, I will be back in the future. And maybe by myself if the wife allows it to spend more money.

After browsing we found a set of measuring spoons and cups we wanted. Combined cost about $80. At the checkout, they ran up at 30%% off not 35%. When I questioned the associate, she said, the "tools" aren't part of the sale, only the bakeware. We opted to forgo the purchase over the $4 difference out of principal. While it's not as catchy to say 'everything on the tables except...' honesty would be great, especially when you see the people you told about the additional discount picking up apparently excluded items.

This was not a pre-made crust & a can of filling, this was a homemade crust, peeling, coring & slicing apples. I've been baking this pie recipe for 30 years. I decided to use my new Pryex pie plate instead of my usually stoneware. I placed the pie on a baking sheet to catch anything that might bubble over and placed it into a 375 oven for an hour. I removed the pie, on the baking sheet and placed it on the stove top to cool. There was not an extreme temperature shift because the pie was on the hot baking sheet. The pie plate exploded all over my stove, counter, and my lovely pie. All that work, ruined! I have now read hundreds of reviews similar to mine. How can they still be selling this inferior and dangerous product??? Why haven't I seen a recall?
