(4.5 stars) The beignets are still winners in my book and are quite addictive--whether they be raspberry, chocolate, or plain. So good and the perfect amount of dessert when you want something a little sweet but don't want a calorie bomb. pair that with a drip coffee and you got a winning post-running reward on a breezy Fall day. lines move pretty slow because the counter is a one-person show, the bakery has a steady flow of neighborhood patrons, and the customers are paralyzed by the variety of baked items. i tend to avoid lines that are more than two people deep. just found out that the baguettes are baked fresh throughout the day, so no need to get there early morning to get a super fresh one. Le Fournil is definitely an East Village must-visit.

THE BRETZEL WAS EVERYTHING I DIDNT KNOW I NEEDED. Chocolate Hazelnut Babka in a pretzel shape, I mean come on!? I could have eaten four of them. They were a bit low on breads when I stopped in probably because it was a bit later in the day and because it was Rosh Hashanah. I will definitely return, but earlier in the day so that I could get my hands on some of the bread! When I entered, there was one person being helped and another person in the line ahead of me. The person being helped at the counter had zero situational awareness and was chit chatting and asking to view multiple items to pick "the best," all while the line was forming behind her. Another person joined the line after me. The gentleman before me got so fed up he left after 5 minutes of the jaunt.

Lots of goods to choose from. I found the pain au chocolat to be kind of dull and soft. Not even slightly crispy. It was layered inside, it was just fine. Chocolate was decent. The raspberry beignet was maybe half filled, it was also just okay. Nice flavor. The latte was good, refreshing and smooth.

Randomly stopped by this bakery and was immediately impressed by the selection of breads and pastries. I came a little bit later towards the end of the day, so they were already out of stock for some items. However, their bread looks so beautiful. As for what I ordered, I got a ham and cheese sandwich, which I wish was toasted since the bread was hard (expected though because it was a baguette and I came around the afternoon). However, when I heated it up later at home the sandwich was surprisingly delicious, even with very few ingredients. Service was friendly and kind! No complaints there. I'd probably come back and try other things again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I visited this cafe on a weekend, and it was such a lovely cozy stop![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is run by the sweetest couple, and the service was so quick & effective (esp given how long the line was!!). I especially loved their wide assortment of mini pastries bc I'm someone who loves to try a bunch of different things. . Here is what I tried as a baker/blogger (@sowmthingsweet on Instagram): - Maple Pecan Danish; VERY delicious. Great natural intense maple flavor without being too sweet. I also enjoyed the crunch from the pecans throughout (they are an elite nut) - Mini Tomato Tart: Very fresh & simple. Would've preferred the larger size because I feel like I mainly tasted the pastry & not the filling. - Mini Pain Au Chocolat: technically very well done, not greasy at all with beautiful pockets of air between each croissant layer. Chocolate was nice & bittersweet as I prefer. - Pissaladiere Slice: The most unique!! I wanted to step out of my comfort zone & i can totally see it being a hit for others, just not for me (bc of the anchovies haha). The focaccia was fluffy & the caramelized onion paired well with the tart olives. - Peasant Bread: solid lovely sourdough bread :) Overall, everything was quite delicious, however, I do wish my pastries were warmed! Can't wait to be back.

It was ok, I'll give them a little discount bc we came in towards the end of the day . [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is a cute bakery with a few small tables and some French groceries for sale as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the peach croissant which was not bad but not amazing . Could have used a little more generosity in the filling . Dough was ok but not at its peak. We also got the grilled cheese which seem to be better , judged on my daughters feedback , but again closer to an ok grade We'll perhaps come back to try some other items

I always have to resist the urge to wander into Le Fournil when I pass by it on the street. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bright red, white and blue French flag storefront just beckons to be entered and savored. It truly is a gem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have tried their pistachio croissant, mini chocolate croissant, and Croque Tomato Mozzarella. The first two were excellent; the last one was not bad. Definitely not cheap, but reasonable by NYC standards. The mini croissant and pain au chocolat are only $1 and a great way to sample the viennoiserie as well as treat the kiddos. The pistachio croissant was a thing of beauty and decadence. The Croque Tomato Mozzarella (basically a Croque Monsieur but with tomato instead of ham) was delicious, but oddly sold cold. I had hoped to have it fresh for lunch, but was surprised to see it unheated. I was advised to heat it on the griddle at home. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong but even after heating it on low-heat on a pan, it wasn't good and was very dense and dry. I would skip the Croques in the future.

I stopped in for some pastries on a weekday morning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't super busy inside, but there was a small line that moved quickly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a chocolate hazelnut pretzel, chocolate twist, madeleine, and peach danish. They were all fresh and delish & not overly sweet for the ones I selected. The peach danish and chocolate hazelnut pretzel were my favorites of the ones we had.

Great spot for pastries in the morning, woke up early and popped in really quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was quick and friendly, and there were little tables inside to eat at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Of all the treats, the Peach Danish was my favorite, it had great fresh peach flavor. There were lots of other things available as well like sandwiches and loaves of bread.

7/10 Came here because I saw them on a list of best corissants in the city. PLAIN CROISSANT Their croissant definitely stands out in the sense that it was very airy and stretchy! It's not hard/flakey/crusty like other croissants, but rather, fluffy and pull-apart, and the dough was chewy. I kind of enjoyed that, even though I wasn't expecting it, and would def recommend getting their croissants. BELGIAN WAFFLE w CUSTARD - a little cold, so this was take it or leave it FETA SPINACH PASTRY - love a feta spinach moment, a little savory, not super fresh when I got it around noon, was okay and definitely scratched the itch. They sell a variety of imported French goods as well, and I was looking for a fresh squeezed juice and they had a few bottled nectar juices including a mango one which was fragrant and sweet.

Spacious bakery with a great selection. Limited outdoor seating only when I visited in November 2023. They also have a store with French pantry items. I tried: + Chocolate Madeline + Chocolate hazelnut bretzel + Raspberry beignet The bretzel was the highlight (reminded me of the one at J'aime in Philly), and the beignet was also amazing. Good prices for the area, too!

This used to be my favorite Italian bakery. I haven't been to this bakery in years like ten years…read moresince I was a teenager. Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.

I had never heard of the place before, but I was happy to give it a try -- and I'm so glad I did. From the moment you walk in, the experience feels special. The store has two beautiful double doors that create such a grand entrance, and once inside, you immediately feel the energy. The place was bustling with people, and everyone seemed happy and excited -- from the customers to the team behind the counter and the baristas. The cookie case was overflowing with so many amazing choices that it was hard to decide! I ended up getting the Rocky Road cookie, a Double Chocolate Chip cookie, a Two Chip Chocolate Chip cookie, and a blueberry muffin to enjoy for breakfast the next morning. The service was absolutely impeccable, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and delightful. When I got home, I had half of the Rocky Road cookie with a cup of tea, and it was incredible. The cookie was large and chunky but still perfectly enjoyable -- not heavy or overwhelming. It literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate was rich and smooth, and every bite was just delicious. The next morning, I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was just as impressive. It was light and airy, not overly sweet like many blueberry muffins can be. It truly felt like a breakfast pastry. The blueberries tasted fresh and burst with flavor in every bite.
