Been here several times now and the pastries are never a disappointment. Can't speak on the rest of the menu items or coffee beverages. Chocolate crème croissant, jamón gruyere croissant and the morning bun are the favs but all pastries have been tasty. Service is nice and professional.

Cute French cafe that was recommended by a coworker of mine. He was raving about their kouign-amann batons, so I decided to stop by around 11am on a Tuesday. The exterior and interior reminded me so much of the cafes in Paris. They have a bunch of tables and seats available. I loved every part of it and glad that this kind of cafe exists in the city. The baton was delicious. It was crispy and flaky on the outside and dense on the inside. The shape reminded me of a churro. I also tried their regular croissant and it was also very tasty. I like that they have a wide variety of pastries to choose from.

Came in for breakfast on Sunday morning. Ordered and sat down at a table by the window. Took about 15 minutes to get our food. They have lots of alternatives for dairy options. The cappuccino was ok with almond milk. The smoked salmon Benedict was simple yet tasty! The lemony hollandaise was fantastic!

    Cute box.

Vast choice if genuine French pastries favorites and a spacious and chilled interior. I go there on Saturdays and the person serving is simply adorable Service is attentive.

It's a pleasant enough French bakery cafe set-up, but I've held back on this review for a while. It's because in hindsight, I wish the staff was interested in having an interaction with their customers. Well, at least with this customer. Perhaps I would've discovered that their $16 La Complete was encased in a buckwheat crepe, an unfortunate discovery for me since I'm allergic. That's why I avoid Japanese soba noodles like the plague. In the description for La Complete, the menu mentioned French ham, gruyere, and egg but nothing about the buckwheat crepe (photo: https://yelp.to/VvV_RSMoAO). When my plate arrived, I was hesitant to touch it, but since I bought it already, I took a chance. Big mistake. My throat started to swell just as I was leaving the shop. I take responsibility for the mishap, but the indifferent service didn't help. I might come back for a croissant but I'm in no hurry. FOOD - 2 stars...overcome by the buckwheat AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...pleasant enough cafe SERVICE - 2 stars...not much offered on this front TOTAL - 2 stars...this buckwheat ain't 'o-tay' RELATED - Exploring Nob Hill? This is one of them fancy pants French pastry places. And yeah I'll be honest, I do fancy myself a fancy pants pastry. Try and follow that train of thought. Been here a few times but didn't take too many pictures. I've had a twist thing, a chocolate croissant, this banana coconut croissant and a cookie I think. The best thing was the banana coconut one. Nothing blew my mind, but nothing was bad either. The SF bakery scene is so competitive. La Marais (whatever that means) is good but it's not punching up at the elites. Reliable though! What I want to know is how they are about 200 feet away from another French pastry shop (The French Spot). There has to be a story there. (4.1 Stars)

Been to this bakery many times, love this place, probably one of the bests on this neighborhood. Make sure to ask for your croissant warmed up. It tastes so so much better when it's warmed up and crunch on the outside.

Le Marais is a little French bakery with brunch Thursday-Sunday. We went on a Saturday around 10:30 and walked in without a wait. The pan chocolate was fresh from the oven and flaky, melty Heaven. The almond croissant had a generous amount of mild marzipan and was also delightfully flaky. The latte was quite good, and the mocha had chocolate chips at the bottom. We ordered three crepes: mushroom, salmon, and ham and cheese (with egg). The salmon one had a generous amount of salmon, but was bland in flavor and barely a touch of the cream sauce mentioned in the description, leaving me with a lot of plain spinach to eat with a buckwheat crepe. The mushroom one had dollops of goat cheese on it, but the interior again was fairly dry. The winner was the ham, with flavors blending together nicely. I would try the French toast or something other than a crepe if I visit again. Still a lovely brunch with my favorite people, and time well spent in a wonderful restaurant.

Visiting San Francisco and stumbled into Le Marais Bakery by chance. I proceeded to have the most delicious croissant one day followed by an equally delicious ham and cheese croissant the next day. Not sure why their Yelp rating is only 3.9. I think it definitely should be higher based on my not one, but two delicious experiences.

I tried the regular croissant, the almond croissant, and the kouign-amann. My favorite was 100% the almond croissant. All were amazing but the flavors and textures were truly exceptional. Also, the staff were so kind, the line moved quickly, and bonus: all the items freeze exceptionally well!

While I was visiting friends in the Inner Richmond, we were tempted by the aroma of butter and decided to brave the line to try one of these legendary pastries. While the line stretched halfway down the block, it moved quickly, and we only waited in line for about 15 minutes. The ordering process was efficient, and we were able to pick up our pastries in a couple of minutes once we were at the front of the line. The menu is short and simple, and I decided to try the almond croissant, one of the classics. I enjoyed my croissant when I got home, and immediately noticed how decadent and heavy the pastry was (I recommend splitting it). The outside was very toasted - almost bitter - and the inside of the pastry tasted slightly underbaked. On a more positive note, I appreciated how the almond filling tasted purely of freshly-ground almonds; simple and naturally sweet without the overpowering almond-extract flavor. While this first experience did not quite live up to my expectations, I would still come back to try the other pastries.

It ended up taking us over two hours to get our pastries, and by the time we reached the front, some items had already sold out. This time, we decided to arrive right when the line opened at 7:45am on a Friday. Personally, I'd rather get there early, wait a little over an hour, and have the first pick of pastries than arrive later, wait even longer, and risk missing out on items. We were the third party in line and placed our order around 9:05am. By 9:15am, we had our pastries and drinks. After our first visit, I wasn't completely convinced the wait was worth it. The pastries were good, but the long line and wait time didn't feel justified. This visit, however, may have changed my mind. We ordered: * Madame Lorraine * Chorizo & Tot Croquiche * Morty P * Strawberry Vanilla Bean Bun * Pistachio Cardamom Sugar Croissant * Rocky Road Double Chocolate Cookie * Classic Croissant We also got two drinks: the S'mores Mocha and the Cherry Vanilla Almond Cappuccino. Don't skip their drinks, their specialty coffees are just as creative as their pastries. I really appreciate their rotating menu. Their pastries are always so creative, and I love that they experiment with unique flavor combinations that you don't typically see at a bakery. Some items are definitely more memorable than others, but I enjoy that there's always something new to try. Their pastries are well executed. The croissants are flaky and buttery. This visit, my personal favorite was the Chorizo & Tot Croquiche. Overall, this visit was a much better experience than my first. If you're willing to wait in line, I think it's worth checking out. Otherwise, you can always try your luck with their Hotplate presale.

It was absolutely heavenly. The standout was the bolo bun with guava butter. Imagine guava jam and butter had a delicious baby and being tucked inside a warm, soft pineapple bun and that's exactly what it tasted like. We also tried the classic butter bun, which was excellent, but the guava version was the winner for us. For something savory, we ordered the salted egg yolk and BBQ pork bun, and it was delicious. The combination of sweet, salty, and savory flavors worked really well together. We also tried the pandan bun, which was fine, but it didn't quite stand out compared to the other flavors. I wish we had time to come back and sample more of the menu. I had my eye on the matcha and red bean varieties and would have loved to try them. I also ordered a Hong Kong milk tea and it was rich and strong. They even serve it with a mini warm bolo bun on top of the cup, which is both adorable and delicious. Pineapple King is the kind of place I would happily travel back to San Francisco for. Now if they could just open a location in LA my life would be complete!

I've always wanted to try this place since I see a line every time I walked by. There's a lot of foot and car traffic. It's definitely a busy area so expect to park in one of the nearby residential areas or be extremely and walk/bike/bus here! Upon stepping into the tiny shop, I was enveloped in the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies. It was tempting to put that in my bag, but I stuck with my game plan. They do self serve for all the baked goods and drinks except the pizza and focaccia. You tell the cashier what you grabbed. There's self serve complimentary water on the side too. Got a pecan swirl, one of each square focaccia flavors, and a half pizza (hot). The pizza flavor of the day was triple mushroom with sesame ginger garlic vinaigrette and mozzarella. It was 10/10 delicious!! Do note that they don't heat up the focaccia. Personally, after tasting everything, I'd say the pizza is more worth it than the focaccia "pizzas". The pecan roll was quite addicting too. You can also skip the line if you want to order online on their website and schedule a pick up time, but my gift card didn't work so I just waited in line.
