What an unpleasant experience! Pleasant waiters, quick service but nobody gave a hoot that the food was awful. My "salad with duck confit" turned out to be naked Frisbee, a roasted dark quarter of duck without any seasoning, and tiny bits of French fries. This place tries to market itself as an upscale French bistro offering Kosher food. I eat only kosher meat, so for me there aren't many options of nice restaurants where I can get a good steak. We came here with my in-laws and everything from the food to the service was terrible. The steak came out overcooked and tough, so we had to send it back. They also brought out the new steak with the wrong side. The staff is severely undertrained and rude. Even asking for water was complicated, because it would turn into a 3-step process of us asking out waitress for water, her asking a bus boy to bring it, and then another waiter would come over asking if we needed water when our glasses were all obviously empty. Everything took forever to come out, including the dessert. We ordered a pistachio cake, which was made with sabayon, but when we got it, it was just a muffin with a sauce that tasted nothing like sabayon. I went to Le Marais after catching a show--didn't know if the two of us would get in without a reservation. We were happily welcomed in and told it would be fine to just order dessert. It was around 9:45 on a Tuesday night and very busy. We got a little table in the back of the ground floor. My dining mate had a plate of sorbet scoops. The green apple was better than the blueberry, although the texture was a little grainy. I had a scoop of peanut butter mousse covered in chocolate. Tastewise, it was okay. Presentation is superb, however. It was noisy and crowded, but fun anyway. The service was fine--this really surprised me as our waiter surely realized only a small tip was involved because of our small order. I would definitely do this again if I'm in the neighborhood at that hour. It was just what we were looking for. read more

Pleased with service and the food. Waiter and staff very attentive for a party of 9 on a Sunday 7:00pm seating reservation, no problems on Memorial Day weekend. Everyone pleased with entrees: Cog Au Vin, Magret de Canard, Ribeye steak, veal chop, half free range roasted chicken, roasted salmon. Dessert chocolate cake and parve ice cream excellent. I live in Brooklyn and my sister was in the city so I asked her to do me a favor and pick me up some of there famous beef jerky but they wouldn't allow her to pick it up unless they have the credit card in hand ...They don't allow pick ups unless you bring the card you ordered and paid with on hand .. As if there's a differance between ordering a delivery order, because then they can't swipe your card either ..so after eating here for 10 + years they have the audacity to make accusation as if I was a thief..staff is runned by trash employees..food is usually good . But after eating here for 10+ years I was so turned off by there employees and management that I will never spend another dollar at this resturant ever again . I understand about a company and there policies However they are just absurd and ridiculous, if someone is looking to steal from them I'm sure they can find away to do it... Packed for a reason! The food was great! Took a group of friends for a birthday and the food was very tasty and a great portion! I left there satisfied , I had the salmon and Fries was soo good !! Oh and their fruit juice drink was also very tasty. The place is defiantly a party restaurant not for romantic dinner for 2 type of thing. I gave it a 4 because i RSVP like 3 times and even on the same day of the event i called and RSVP and when i arrived the girls didn't know who i was and didn't see that i reserved a table, was a little annoying! They mentioned how they have no more tables but after waiting 10 to 15 tables we went upstairs and there were tons of empty tables. The waiter was a little snob but with a great group we didn't even notice him there! So besides for the staff this place is a great place to take your friends out for dinner! My out-of-town guest and myself were looking forward to dinner at what we thought would be a nice dining experience. Everything that could go wrong happened. The service was beyond rude and inefficient. We had to ask several times for menus, wine lists, etc. before they were brought to us. When the waiter finally came to take our order it was with a curt "what do you want". I ordered fish which I had to return because it was undercooked and my guest had the steak which was quite mediocre. I started a specialized eating plan just over 4 months ago. I need to weigh and measure everything that goes into my mouth. Every question on quantity was directed to the manager named Danny. His answer was, I dont know how much, they eyeball it in the kitchen, and send it out. I needed 24 oz of cooked and raw vegetables. I asked him about the steak frittes and salad. The salad was .5 oz of curly green leaves. I ordered mushrooms. The first order had 9 ounces. I ordered onions. They had 7 ounces. So I asked for another order of mushrooms. They sent me 6 ounces! I asked the waitress for some more, she had to call the manager, who proceeded to argue with me. Is this really a classy restaurant? I told him that the first time he gave me 9 ounces, now I received 6 that is 33% less, so basically the dishes are served by whatever the kitchen staff decided that the standard should be? Anyhow, he FINALLY agreed, and sent another order that he did not charge me for, but not before the table near me had a great laugh about a lady insisting on my mushrooms not being enough. Terrible. I work in the area and used to go there often. One time, when clearing off the table, the server spilled oil on my shirt. He did not even apologize and I had to ask him to bring me a fresh napkin and a glass of seltzer. I sent them an email to explain what happened and they did not even acknowledge my message, let a lone apologize..... Another time I went there and asked them to pack up my food to go. By the time I made it back to the office, I realized that 1/3 of my order was missing. I called to let them know and, to their credit, they did send the remaining part of my meal free of charge (though the person answering the phone was rude and gave me attitude). This place used to be one of the best spots in the city. Now, however, it is completely unprofessional and unorganized. The customer service is lacking and they are not responsive to the issues that are brought to their attention. I would not risk bringing any coworker there or client there to conduct business. Mediocre food, mediocre service, poor sanitary conditions (the restrooms were filthy), and very poor morals. On the morals issue, this place has a "policy" of scamming its customers by charging them for food/drink it does not actually provide. I ordered a virgin drink which turned out to be just lemonade (which in itself tasted very bad) with some mint leaves. When the bill came, the drink was charged at full price. Other restaurants charge less for virgin drinks since there is no alcohol which is what jacks up the price. When I pointed this out, the restaurant manager came and told me that "It's the house rule" to charge full price on virgin drinks and rather than present any valid response to my objections, could only repeat that "It's the house rule." It's not the money so much as the principle. This place takes its business in large part from the tourist dollar and thus has decided that it does not have be concerned about losing repeat business from customers dissatisfied with its dishonest business practices. read more

I went to this restaurant last night. We arrived at 4:30 and were seated promptly as there were few people dining. When we ordered our meal, we asked for water since no one had come by to fill out glasses in the 15 minutes we were there. We wound up having to ask again awhile later. Approximately a half hour later, we asked for bread because no one had brought any. Again, this continued to be a ridiculously long wait for something that should have come out when we were seated. My friend ordered a salad appetizer and was extremely disappointed because the lettuce leaves looked like they were just thrown on the plate and had not been cut up at all. When I finally got my steak au poirve, the top was so hard, I could not cut into it. I had asked for it to be cooked well, but this was ridiculous. The meat was dry and flavorless. Considering it took over an hour to get, I was extremely frustrated. For dessert, my friend ordered the chocolate mousse and I ordered a tea. The mouse was brought without any spoon and my friend had to ask for one and then wait. She was long finished with her mousse before I got my tea. It was a good thing we arrived at 4:30 because we would not have made our 7:00 show if we got there any later. I've never felt compelled to write a bad review before, but this was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. read more

Eating here was an extremely unpleasant experience. While the food was decent, the service could not have been worse. Our waiter seemed aggravated the entire night, didn't ask us how our food was after we brought it out, didn't refill our water glasses, and just made me feel like it was a burden for him to serve us. To make matters worse, after we paid our bill and were on our way out the door, our waiter came over with the bill and said that $20 was missing. Knowing that we had paid the bill in full, we asked him if he had seen the three $20 bills. He replied that he initially saw 3 bills but now only had 2. I didn't know what he wanted from us. He admitted that he saw us pay the full bill, and was now asking for us to pay more because he lost the money. When we explained what happened to the manager he sort of shrugged and told us it was fine, but he didn't apologize at all.
