My mother wanted to eat at this location. The service was unacceptable. The rudeness is unbearable. The more I have patients the more I'm met with just plain rudeness. I wanted to pull out the drive thru line. But again my mother wanted me to just allow the disrespect from the rude lady working the drive thru taking the order. I will not be visiting any location from south city, north city are north county. I'm a person that believes in mannerisms. I always show mannerisms when I'm placing my order at any fast food location. I started out working as a food service worker. I know the ups and downs of having rude customers. I walked inside the restaurant to see a long line of people waiting for their food to be made. I was greeted with good customer service by a nice lady with dreads and placed my order. As I waited, I heard laughing coming from the back and playing. As this was ongoing the lady in the front was yelling to the back saying I need this done constantly. As the back doors to the food spot where the cooking goes opened back and forth you could see them back their playing instead of making the food. My food was not very pleasant. I stopped in to this spot yesterday. I think it's a chain in STL. It was my first meal during my visit to the city and I went through the drive-thru. The wait was reasonable. It was a typical drive-thru experience. The food was mediocre at best. Some of it was cold. My chicken was flavorful but cold. Everything that was supposed to be hot was cold. I used to live near here years ago and I really liked Lee's. I have recently returned to this part of town and was looking forward to some good fried chicken. I have now been there twice in the last month and was disappointed both times. I don't know if something has changed or what but I was saddened. I should point out that the service is good. The first time I had the breast strips with potato wedges and baked beans. Both sides were fine, baked beans really good. I noticed that the biscuit is a little smaller. But the chicken strips were so salty I could not finish them. This second time, today, I was in the mood for a sandwich so I ordered that with just wedges. The sandwich was inedible. Like old shoe leather. Clearly it sat way too long in the hot box. I considered complaining but I decided I'd rather get home and heat some leftovers. Too bad they've lost a customer. This place is convenient to my daily route, so I thought I would try it. What a disappointment! So I went up to the drive-through box and since I've never been there before I didn't really know how to order and I was unfamiliar with some of their menu terminologies. Also the speaker box was not the best sound quality, so I couldn't understand the lady very well. Instead of being helpful & guiding me through it, she just screamed and yelled at me. I don't know why I started apologizing, I guess she reminded me of my bus driver when I was a kid, yelling like that. I ordered a two-piece dark meal with macaroni and cheese and green beans for the side. The macaroni and cheese was tasteless and uninspiring, and the green beans were the kind that come from a can and have a little pork and salt added. The chicken was tasteless. To make matters worse, the portions were TINY!! The leg and thigh nestled together in the clamshell ended up being smaller than a scotch tape dispenser, and the portions of the macaroni and green beans were less than a tablespoon. There's absolutely no reason to eat here, and those employees were some of the nastiest I've ever dealt with, and that's saying a lot for fast food, where I pretty much always expect an attitude, but this was on a whole other level. I asked a question about the franchise (how long has it been established) I'm a guest here, I don't know. He asks the ladies in the back, they replied we don't know! I don't think their fried chicken is good. Very greasy, not seasoned well. Perhaps I got a particularly bad batch, but I can't justify coming here again in the future when I can easily get better chicken at a KFC or Churches. Also, I asked for mashed potatoes as one of my sides THREE times because the cashier kept on repeating my order to me saying I ordered potato wedges instead. After reaffirming the mashed potatoes, when I get home there's potato wedges!! What the hell! They were also very greasy and poorly seasoned. I'm visiting from out of town so i stopped here to have a taste. I ordered the two piece snack. Basically a two piece with a biscuit. The chicken had a slight burnt taste. I am bias since I love Lee's chicken!! I came for lunch and the cashier Joie C.who took my order was very polite, and courteous; ordered the three piece snack which is a substantial size. Of course the chicken is great!! My only complaint is that they are located on a small lot right off Gravois/Jefferson. As I entered the lot there were a couple of large trucks, and cars blocking the parking area. They were waiting on the Drive-thru line. read more

It goes without saying that not every restaurant deserves 5 stars but since I typically don't rate fast food restaurants much, I have to separate this evaluation into its own category. It's not fair to evaluate a fast food restaurant against, for example a place like Ruth's Chris. With that said, as far as fast food restaurants go this is a 5 star fast food restaurant. Lee's definitely has the best fried chicken in the state. I live in California so when I come home for the holidays I like to get the junk food I grew up on and Lee's is one of my favorites. The restaurant was very clean but extremely warm. I was going to ask them to turn down the heat but I decided to sit under the ceiling fan and turn it to high. That helped a lot. I ordered the 5 wing plate combo. The wings came with a biscuit, two sides and a drink. For my sides I ordered baked beans and potato wedges. The crispy chicken had a great crunch followed by a very unique and slightly spicy flavor. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. If you ask for bbq sauce for dipping (free), it elevates the chicken even more. It also wasn't overly oily like some fried chicken places. The potato wedges were very good but a little under done. The center of the larger wedges were a bit too firm. The baked beans are phenomenal; a little sweet and spice that compliments the entire dish. I wish the biscuits were a little more moist but the flavor of the biscuits were spot-on with its flaky, buttery exterior. Accomplished by Lee's infamous sweet tea, it was an indulgent meal that I have about once a year. If you're ever in the area and your looking for some fried goodness, stop by Lee's. I live closer to the Kingshighway location, but drive to this one instead just for the staff and service. This is the only restaurant I'll still go into if it is packed. This is my go-to fast food restaurant. Not today. Today instead of my usual baked chicken breast, slaw, and green beans, I received three small bags. TWO were fried pickles. ONE was some dark undefinable meat that was coated and fried. OMG! My dogs enjoyed the fried mystery meat. I did not. If I had opened the bag in the car, I would never have accepted the grease. I was searching for a popeyes and low and behold who knew that all of them left in STL are scrappy as all get out! So I decided to try out Lees since I hadn't are lees in many years. The place was ger clean and presentable compared to most places in the STL. Employees were very well mannered and clean also. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because the chicken wasn't very hot not were the potato wedges. But all in all I will be coming back.
