Ordered Egg Foo Young and when I got home. The container was full of gnats. I'll not be going back.

What I've heard about this restaurant vary from person to person. It's never a consistent love it, like it, or hate it. But I can only review from my experience from lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. First of all, the place is dank, dreary, and eerily quiet. Almost like a library quiet. First impression when walking in is "is this place even open for business?" The lights were off and there was no one in eyesight. A lady behind the register popped up and took me to a table. The dining area is to the right and that's were maybe 6 customers were. Still, the lights were off and no music, so eerily quiet. I ordered the triple delight plate. It came with an ice tea, fried rice, and choice between an egg roll or crab ragoon. First, the ice tea was weak, just colored water. Okay, no biggie. Next, the fried rice was cold. Not room temp, just plain cold. The entree itself was steaming hot so I figured it would balance out. Now the entree. The chicken tasted like boiled chicken that was tossed together with obviously frozen shrimp and okay beef. The sauce was okay, not the best but not bad. The egg roll was just plain bad. It was as though it was cooked/fries earlier and then kept under a heat lamp. It was not crispy at all. It was tough and chewy. I scooped out the pork and veggies from inside and ate that instead. Overall, a bad experience and would not recommend. For the same price, you can go to golden wok down the road and have a much better meal and experience. read more

The reviews for this place are scary! I am a little worried to order again, but we have ordered many times and have never had any issues. We just Googled local Chinese delivery and went with it. We always order delivery, we have never actually eaten at their restaurant. The food is usually very quick. We ordered once on a Holiday weekend.... Can't remember what day it was, but that was a long wait, otherwise, we have been very pleased with the service. The delivery guys are always really friendly and the food is always really yummy. The orange chicken was the only one I haven't liked but I really love their dumplings, cheese wontons, and kung pao chicken. We have ordered Chinese from a few other local places, but this place has been our favorite. We haven't had any scary meals delivered to us so far (knock on wood). read more

Average food. Disappointed that the general tso's chicken isn't white meat. Cashew chicken was ok. They're closed for dine in and only 1 worker at the front. She is swamped with phone calls and takeout customers. They also forgot the sweet sour sauce for our crag ragoons . I would give 3 stars if weren't for missing sweet sour sauce.. I had issues with my delivery and I went to the restaurant for assistance and to help resolve. They did not try to help me or assist me in anyway. They turned me away and refused to help me in any way or form. I got my food and it was soggy and incorrect. I do not recommend this restaurant. The customer service is awful. read more

Looking for another Asian restaurant in San Antonio, we came across Lee's Garden. They have your typical Americanized menu and numerous dinner specials. We ordered Vietnamese spring rolls and traditional egg rolls to start. The spring rolls were good but the egg rolls were buffet quality and unimpressive. We received our meals and the portion sizes were impressive. The shrimp in the Kung Pao shrimp was cooked well but the other meals were less than satisfying. The orange chicken was over cooked and had way too much sauce. The chicken with string beans had minimal taste. Both feast-goers I was with found the fried rice to not be very good either. They sent me spoiled food. I ordered a Gen Tso chicken, and beef & broccoli on a combo dinner plate. My Gen Tso chicken tasted, and looked, a bit off, but then a bite into broccoli that came with my beef & broccoli alerted me to the fact that indeed I had been delivered rotten food. (Yes, my sense of smell sucks. Yes, I know veggies better than I know meat.) I called Lee's Garden very upset, but calm. The usual man who answers the phone immediately offered to replace my meal with a freshly cooked order, to be delivered as soon as the driver could return. The man sounded disturbed, saying those two dishes are among their most popular, so they shouldn't have sent out any spoiled food. He promised me that he'd watch the cooks make me a new container. I ate half of the fried rice while I waited, because I was legit tummy ache, hadn't eaten all day, starving, and that portion of the plate seemed fresh. It was SA style, super Americanized fried rice. I'd give their usual fare three stars, which is amazing for San Antonio, but I spent most of my life in the Northeast, where freshly imported Hong Kong cooks got down on a wok like whoa. SA Chinese food makes me cry, and then I use my tears as seasoning, because Buddha knows it needs some. My replacement meal was indeed fresh, and delicious for what it was, but this should never have occurred. My family has been ordering delivery from Lee's Garden whenever several of us gather for a long time now. Not the best food (that was Lei Wah's, so ofc they closed), not the worst food (Sun Sun, hands down). Huge, easily sharable portions for decent prices. Got the family combo for the first time today and was pretty pleased with it; three people wanted General Tso's Chicken and Beef fried rice so it made sense. It came with two steamed rice, two egg rolls, four rangoons, and two egg drop soups. It would have been nice to have a choice of soup but I'm not going to complain over what was essentially free soup even if it wasn't a soup any of us actually wanted to eat. We got other stuff, too, and it was also decent American Chinese in huge portions. The Maylay Curry with mixed vegetables was the standout of today's meal in terms of flavor. Highly recommend. In terms of service their delivery drivers are always very kind, prompt, and attentive to delivery instructions. The food always arrives blisteringly hot and fresh in half the time or less than was quoted. When we called in orders the staff was always helpful and attentive, and we have gotten the ocassional phone call after we started ordering online when they wanted clarification or to inform us that something was out of stock and they were refunding that item but would we like a replacement? My first impression was a dud..Rice was chewy and smelled like it was left open in back of a smelly kitchen. No kidding! I was hungry so I ate about 3 bites. I took a bite from my wife's pepper steak and it was just to salty, but was doable.... Eatable. My chicken was old and chewy.. Not fresh at all. I got extra cheese buffs and they were old to. Great place to go for a quick bite to eat Pros - offer lunch ($6.50-8.50) and dinner specials (ranges from $8.50-11.50) - offer white or fried rice - portions are big! I ate my meal for lunch and dinner - called in and the order was ready within 10 minutes for pick up - cashier was nice and friendly (greeted me when I came in and left) Cons - food quality is not the tastiest, but that's expected given the price range here - fried rice was a bit hard for my liking - the hunan spicy dish wasn't as spicy as I wanted it to be If you're looking for a place that's cheap, quick and will make you full, this is the place! I like to order food from Lee's Garden for carryout. I have ordered at least 10 times since moving to SA, and they have never taken more than 15 minutes with my food. Most of the time it is 5-10 mins. I have treid the orange chicken, sweet and sour, general tsao's, and perhaps a dozen more items for lunch and dinner. I enjoy the taste of these entrees, and they give out big portions. However, there rice is just ok. I recommend this place for chinese take-out if you live nearby. read more

I've been coming here for years, the staff is very friendly, never had a bad experience with them. The cleanliness of this place has always been questionable, the floor is carpeted, so they should be vacuuming more frequently. The food has always been a problem with me. The main entrees have always been good. It's the fried rice that has always been bothersome, it's sometimes flavorless, or tastes like play-doh. Egg rolls are decent, nice honeyish flavor. The cheese Rangoons are always made fresh but dripping in oil. I think if they found a way to make the rice differently they can save the place. Never saw a roach here though. read more

Back in the 70's there was a restaurant in Windsor Park Mall called "King Wah". They had the best egg foo yung ever. I occasionally try to find a replacement for that long gone restaurant. I think Lee's is good and cheap! I didn't love the egg foo , but I would definitely go back and try some of their other specials. Service was very good! read more

My husband and I eat here a few times a month. It's close by, and a great price for all the food you get. I wont say its the best chinese food, but it's definitely good. The other places in the neighborhood are so so, and Mencius is expensive and not always worth it. We get the General Taos Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken and they are both really good. I prefer the cheese rangoon, and while they don't always look pretty, they are good and look homemade. Delivery always takes about 45 min to an hour, so don't be shocked. I think they only have one delivery guy, but he is really nice. We usually don't mind waiting, we're used to ordering early because we know the wait time. read more

I've eaten in the restaurant and had delivery to my home many times overt the last 2 years and I've enjoyed the ample portions, courteous staff, delivery time was exactly what they said within 5 minutes and usually 30 minutes or less. I usually am ordering for multiple people so I have 3 or more dishes to choose from (which more variety of food ads to wait time as they have to make it fresh for me). The taste of the food is just good, as you might expect from any decent restaurant. I don't know what the problem is with people, if they have one bad experience it ruins their "life" and have to bash (libel) a business and never give them a second chance (which I suggest).
