    Baked Stuffed Lobster
    Spencer D.

Came for my birthday on a Wednesday at 4pm. We were the only customers at this time which is not entirely surprising for a weekday but expected some more folks to be there by the time we left. Food was good, my expectations were really high and they were mostly met. The star of the meal was the crab cake, and my wife's swordfish special was very good. Some confusion with our server however... I asked for a side of scampi pasta (just wanted the scampi pasta) with my stuffed lobster instead of potato and corn. She initially said they couldn't do that, and then came back and said I could swap out the sides to pasta for a $12 upcharge. I said that was acceptable quickly since me and the wife were chatting but after she left I felt like swapping out a side shouldn't also result in a $12 upcharge just for pasta tossed in garlic if I am no longer getting the other sides. When the food came out she brought a half order of the shrimp scampi dish... not what I wanted but it was made so we didn't complain but this explains why the upcharge was so much... but I feel like if we were just adding a dish then I still should have had my included sides regardless. Unfortunately the shrimp scampi wasn't that great... stuffed lobster was okay but I have had better elsewhere. Overall a decent experience, but not sure if we would return.

We were at Lefty's for a team dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Wednesday evening. But the restaurant had nice look, with a good size bar, lots of tables with red white interior look. The menu had some delightful dishes in the menu. We started with some raw oysters, that had good taste. Then I got my entree of giant 20oz lobster tail. It was beautifully cooked, placed on top a lobster tail shell. The tail was cooked exceptionally well, moist soft, layered with butter. There were some baked potatoes and broccolis on the side with this dish. The service was good. Our tables were regularly cleaned after we finished. The dishes were served within a decent wait time. Overall we had a wonderful dinner time together here.

Grilled Salmon with creamy Dijon caper sauce with green onions

Decided to treat myself to dinner tonight and went to Lefty's. It was delicious! I ordered the grilled salmon. It comes with a creamy Dijon caper sauce that is so good it could be a soup! Of course it's just enough and not at all over powering. Steamed broccoli and baked potato. Perfect dinner! Not too heavy and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Everything was cooked perfectly. I also recommend the snapper from past visits and the lobster bisque is divine! The service was great and the atmosphere was upbeat and inviting. Love this place!

Excellent first time. The food was very tasty, the portions very reasonable, the staff very friendly and attentive (specially Gus) and the ambiance simple, elegant and colorful. Definitely coming back.

I just cant say enough good things about our first trip to Lefty's. It was our 42nd anniversary and we wanted to find a new place, great food and comfortable setting and we got all 3 and more. We made an early (4:30pm) reservation as we live south of DFW. First customers in, greeted with a smile and decided to take a booth. Eduardo was our waiter and quite frankly it was more like a friend and we were visiting his house. Food: Only had tea for drinks and had a great crab cake appetizer. My wife had the stuffed lobster, baked potato and broccoli.... I had the pan fried lobster and shrimp, baked potato and corn on the cob. I would say the portion on mine was smaller than i expected but maybe that is because it was so good I wanted more.‍ Each had a desert, I had the chocolate cake and ice cream and she had the Key Lime Pie.. She was telling Eduardo how much she liked it and Chris, tge owner, came over and spent 10-15 min telling us about the history, special off menu items and just small talk. Ticket came in at $135 and we paid in cash.... and admittedly I am not a great tipper but was this night. And if Seafood isn't what you are looking for, there is a large selection of pasta, chicken and steak dishes that I am sure are fantastic also. Just cant get over how comfortable the place was to dine in. casual dress and neighborhood type feel.... Traffic of course sucks going south around 6PM but we plan on going back and I certainly recommend Lefty's

One of the worst restaurants I've ever tried. I ordered a ribeye medium rare $45 which I have no problem paying. They overcooked the steak. I waited 35 minutes just to get it which I asked halfway is the steak ready it's medium rare. It's taking way too long. Asked to speak to a manager, which he never stopped by never offered to re-cook it. Their lobster bisque had no flavor. The bread that they served to the table is cold. Another dead giveaway is the restaurant is empty. Do not trust the rating on this restaurant it's not what it is .

How casual is Lefty's? Would it be ok to wear a ball cap to dinner after playing golf? Thanks!

I would say so. I wore a pair of jeans with a polo when I went. Casual enough I'd say

Our waiter ( guy with braids) was extremely helpful, friendly, and informative. ) I wanted a kir royale ( they couldn't make because they didn't have chambord). However, he and manager came to the table to offer options. I tried a French 76. We ordered calamari which was light, crisp, and fresh. It was delicious and prepared perfectly. I ordered the stuffed flounder ( substituted red fish for flounder) with the Ponchatrain sauce ( shrimp and crabmeat in creamy sauce) which was delicious. I kept the potatoes with peppers ( prepared beautifully ) however, I will try another potato dish that I don't think will compete or overpower the fish. The fish was hot, flaky, light and delicious. They also serve a dish of garlicky, buttery dish of bread and hush puppies as an appetizer.Loved the bread dish. The service, food, ambience are well worth the drive. I can't wait to go back to try other dishes that they offer. We were too full to order dessert. Maybe I'll get one on my next visit.

The lobster tail was a bit tough and overcooked, which is a waste. Mussels were good too. Garlic noodles were not our favorite. Unfortunately, the service was questionable. Our server had difficulty communicating in English, which led to a costly misunderstanding. When we ordered crab, she never asked what type of crab we wanted and instead assumed king crab, which is significantly more expensive than other options. As a result, our bill was much higher than expected. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill without it being mentioned to us beforehand. While restaurants may choose to add gratuity in certain situations, customers should be clearly informed so there are no surprises. My advice: enjoy the food, but be very specific when ordering. Confirm exactly what type of crab you're getting, verify the pricing, and check your bill carefully. Also remember that gratuity should be clearly communicated and not assumed. Better communication would have made this a much better overall experience.I'd rate it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Great food, but the service and communication issues took away from the experience.

Even though I'm a returning customer, I still believe in giving an honest review. One thing I've always appreciated is the customer service. I'm greeted as soon as I walk in, and I've rarely had to wait for my food unless it's peak crawfish season, football season, or they have a guest DJ performing. The staff always keeps things moving, even when they're busy. The only downside for me has been the noticeable sewer like smell inside the restaurant. It can be a little distracting and uncomfortable while you're trying to enjoy your meal, and it's something I've experienced on more than one visit. Now for the food. The charbroiled oysters are the reason I keep coming back. They're grilled to perfection every single time. The oysters stay tender and juicy never rubbery or overcooked and they're served with lightly toasted French bread and fresh lemon wedges that pair perfectly with all that buttery, seasoned goodness. The crawfish is another standout. The flavor reminds me a lot of the crawfish you'd find at the Blue Store in New Orleans iykyk. You can tell they're using more than just Old Bay because the seasoning has depth and a great balance of spices without being overwhelming. Even better, the crawfish are soaked in the seasoning instead of just being sprinkled on the shells, so every bite is flavorful from the inside out. My only disappointment this visit was the catfish po'boy. Unfortunately, the fish tasted more like whiting than catfish. While it was fried well and dressed perfectly with all the right toppings, the fish itself had a very basic flavor that mostly tasted like seasoned cornmeal. I was hoping for a true catfish fillet with more Cajun seasoning and a little more personality. Overall, Tasty Tails continues to be one of my favorite seafood spots. The charbroiled oysters and crawfish alone are worth the visit, and the friendly service keeps me coming back. If they can address the odor inside the restaurant and improve the po'boy, this place would be even harder to beat. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try, especially if you're an oyster or crawfish fan.
