It took decades for her to reach them, but when she arrived they brought yummy gifts from the sea to a red checkered table cloth. "This table reminds me of one of my favorite tables in Seattle" she mused. Picked up a curbside to-go order for the family, a few 3-course lobster specials with soup (tip: ask for the lobster bisque/clam chowder mix, delicious combo), 1 lb lobster with sides, and dessert, all for $29.95! Staff wore masks and gloves and were able to place the order in my backseat(no-contact). The lobster stayed fresh (and butter stayed warm) for my 10 minute drive home, and it was such a nice treat to enjoy a gourmet meal at home. The food itself was great and the service was great up until the end where the server chased our party out the door to ask for a bigger tip. We were standing outside taking photos with the Lefty's sign when the server came out saying that "there is a line for a suggested tip. Don't worry you can change it". Went to dinner here with some friends. It is a little hidden from the road but on the first floor corner of a shopping center. I started with their crab cake $9.95 which was okay, i hate when places put sauces on lettuce leafs because they get stuck in the creases. I did like their cocktail sauce but nothing special. I had Lefty's Pasta $19.95 for my entree and it was very good. The shrimp still have their tails on but the sauce is slightly spicy and creamy. Good ratio of sausage to pasta in it. I struggle to give this place 3 stars. I think it really deserves 2.5. We were very excited to try Lefty's after I read the reviews. I have to say we were not impressed!! I did not care for the Caesar salad at all. The dressing tasted like bottled dressing and lacked flavor. The crab cake had good flavor, but it was mainly breadcrumbs and very little crab meat. Definitely not worth the price. The fried shrimp was not very good either. The manager greeted us at the door and was very friendly. Our server was not friendly at all and hardly spoke to us. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, Went to this location on Friday around noon, started the experience off by the manager, or owner of the establishment talking badly about the one and only server they had working there, on his phone right outside. Walked in, I was approached by the manager with no greeting whatsoever. He just lead us to a table and dropped the menus down on the table. Unfortunately there was only one waitress that worked there, with little to no help from the two older gentlemen in the establishment one being what I would assume to be the owner and the other is the manager. She was doing the best she could and she was the only polite person there. We waited nearly 20 minutes before even being asked what we wanted to drink, after that we didn't even get the drinks that we asked for. My grandma ordered a water and received a tea, she asked the manager who was walking by if he could bring her a water instead, and he laughed and said "what do you need that for you already have a tea" another 20 minutes go by and they grabbed cold French bread with their barehands, and dropped it at our table. Our server finally had time to get our orders and once the food came out, I had garlic butter pasta with clams and my grandma had the same pasta with shrimp.... We took about two bites paid and left. Food was underwhelming, service was even worse. I hope the only server they have goes to find a new team to work for because that establishment is the WORST! read more

My husband had raved about Lefty's so I was finally able to go with him and check it out for myself. Lefty's is a cozy little restaurant with red and white checkered tablecloths and a pretty bar. We were greeted like we were family and ushered to a booth. The service was really impeccable. The waiter was very friendly and patient with our questions. Our glasses were always full. Our food came out in timely fashion. One thing I did not like was the complementary bread and butter while waiting for our food. It was served cold for some odd reason. Most restaurants serve warm bread, right? We started with a crab cake and also a lump crab dish. The crab cake was tasty and crisp on the outside. The lump crab app was served with avocado slices, tomato and crackers. It was interesting, but it was not something I would order again. I opted for the sea bass special that included garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The sides were delicious, the fish was just ok. It needed more flavor for some reason. My husband ordered the salmon with new potatoes and broccoli. Now THAT was delicious! The salmon was cooked to perfection and was topped with scallions and capers. I would most definitely order that the next time I go. And it was about $10 cheaper than the sea bass special I had! All in all, I recommend this cute little seafood restaurant. We never ate here so caveat that this review was just based on first impressions. Looking for seafood places and seeing Yelp reviews, we checked it out Saturday evening. Upon entry, you get hit with a wall of smoke....the smoking section is right next to the entrance (near the bar). The restaurant is poorly ventilated so no matter where you sit, you get that nice smoke wafting towards your table. We left after we realized that we couldn't escape the smoke. We felt this place was 3-star as far as the food goes and then the horrible service brings this down to an overall rating of 2-stars. Service was slow and the waiter didn't pay hardly any attention to us at all once our food arrived...didn't stop by to see how things were going or refill our sodas. While the place was busy, it wasn't completely full and we saw other tables nearby getting attention. Food was better, but only because the oysters were really good (but not quite as chilled as we'd like). The New England Clambake was bland...lobster was slightly overcooked and didn't seem too fresh...clam chowder lacked flavor even though it was filled with ingredients (we didn't finish it). Lobster bisque was too thick/heavy and the linguine with clams lacked flavor as well (we didn't finish either of these either). I find it hard to believe the comparisons people are making to places up in the New England area -- we visited Maine last year and this place was not anywhere in the same galaxy as even the worst places we dined at in Maine. read more

Well we finally made our discovery Friday night when my mother in law was searching for seafood (but didn't want to drive downtown) so I searched Yelp and despite a few negative reviews came across Leftys. Checkered tablecloths and ocean memorabilia, red lighting, full bar, packed tables or chatty families and couples, and an open kitchen. Boy this looking promising!! I ordered the single lobster (one claw) and it was wonderful. Way too much to eat with the accompanying potato and corn but I focused on the little fellow in front of me and started cutting away. DELICIOUS and our server, Andrew, saw me struggling to crack away some of the shell and gave a helping hand ( such cool waiter FYI) Both hubby and mother in law ordered from the specials and both fishes were out of this world (the sea bass was huge) When it was time to leave I mentioned to the host who seated us how we had never been and would certainly be returning. Turns out he was one of the owners and gave us a brief history explaining how they choose the fish etc This is not a cheap meal. You get the best and freshest seafood so while the interior looks casual this meal will set you back a decent amount if you come for a dinner out but it's so worth the $$ I've seen a few negative reviews here but I just wanted to let you know ours was a fantastic experience. We called ahead and were told there was a 45 minute wait for two. When we arrived we were seated immediately. I started with the American Lobster Bisque. The lobster was really sweet and tender. My wife had the Greek salad and said it was fantastic. We shared the Fried Jumbo Shrimp. It comes with broccoli and a baked potato. Even though we split the meal they gave us each a generous amount of broccoli and gave us each a small baked potato. Everything was really good. Would definitely come back again! read more

Me n my friend had the sea bass n my brother had the redfish my husband had the grouper we all loved our food it was more then enough we had to take all of it home there was so much food. We were really happy with our food and our server was excellent we haven't had such good service like this in sooo long we were just ecstatic about finding this great place. I regularly eat here for both lunch and dinner and I am never disappointed. The staff is upbeat and friendly which makes it an A1 experience from start to finish. I travel for work and even when i'm in the northern parts of the U.S. I still find Lefty's tops them all. I'm usually the kind of person who eats at an establishment and then once I leave I think to myself, "Was that really worth what I spent?". I've never had that thought when it comes to Lefty's and I never will. As a fan of lobster, I was excited to come here. Lefty's is inauspiciously located in a corner of a moribund strip mall, concealed behind the corpse of another restaurant (now a husk with "for lease" signs. Once we found it, we were in a tiny, extremely loud joint with an open kitchen, confusion everywhere, and decor somewhat reminiscent of Pacific Northwest seafood huts. I came for lobster, and they delivered. On the other hand, it's hard to get lobster wrong, so they need to be judged based on other dishes. The lobster was good, fresh , and quite inexpensive - about half as much as any other comparable spot. So they are culls. Still, for the price of one lobster, I got 2. Still only 2 claws total, but two tails as well! Plus one of them had coral roe inside as a bonus! The crabcake was excellent, almost up to Maryland standards. My son had copper river salmon topped with crab and loved it. My wife had a crabmeat appetizer for her meal and was happy. My granddaughter had a kids meal hamburger (I know, right?) and it was amazingly huge. Far too much for her (she is 11) so 2/3 of it had to come home in a doggie bag. Key Lime pie for dessert came with a meringue mountain - I am a key lime buff, and so usually I am disappointed in restaurant versions. Not this time. I mean, I've had better, but not often, and not in Dallas. What was bad about Lefty's? Two things - it was EXTREMELY loud inside. We could hardly hear each other. Second, the service was on the verge of being bad. I say "on the verge" because each time I started getting antsy about a delay, a minute or two later our waiter would turn up. But there were ominous signs - when I tried to flag down someone , i actually got waved off! Guess i wasn't his station. Also they forgot catsup for my granddaughter's burger & fries and i had to signal the manager to get some. But the service wasn't actually bad - it was ever so marginally acceptable. It was our final evening in Texas and it was decided we would go for seafood. My brother used to live near Addison so he made the suggestion that we come over to this part of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to see if we could find a good place to eat. A Yelp search brought us to Lefty's Lobster & Chowder House. It wasn't a tough decision. The weather was cold and once we heard the word chowder, we were all in. Once seated the 3 of us ordered a cup of their New England Clam Chowder ($5.95). It was nice and hot and had some good crackers from VT. Usually the best crackers for chowder come from the New England area. There probably could have been a few more clams, but we all ended up finding them at the bottom of our cups. For my main dish I had the Sauteed Pacific Coast Snapper ($16.95) which came with a light white wine butter sauce. It also came with a baked potato and corn on the cob. After eating so much meat and BBQ on this trip, my body needed something lighter and fish hit the spot. This fish had nice flavor which you would expect from a white wine butter sauce. Seems like Lefty's has been around for a long time. The place had some nice character. Red and white checked table cloths. Pictures of famous patrons on the walls. That kind of thing. My wife and I stopped in tonight for dinner. There was a nice gentleman who greeted us at the door and made friendly conversation taking us to our table. The server arrived fairly quickly and took our drink order. We ordered the clam chowder for an app. The chowder was flavored well however, the claims were super tough and chewy as if they had been simmering for a long time, this is also based on the chowder being delivered within 2 min of ordering it. I ordered the surf and turf lobster tail and filet mignon. My wife ordered the stuff jumbo shrink. The lobster tail was very large and the server was helpful offering to remove the tail from the shell for me. The lobster tail was good as with most large tails they tend to be tougher the bigger they get. The filet was a let down here. When you order a filet mignon med rare you expect it to be nice an tender. However, this one had multiple parts difficult to cut even with a steak knife, about 20% of the filet was inedible due to a line of gristle running through it indicating the cut of meat was on the cheaper side. My wife's stuffed jumbo shrink was very good. She enjoyed the stuffing more than she expected. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The sides for both of us included baked potato and corn on the cob which was also prepared well. There was a gentleman who walked around helping the servers with refilling drinks. I am glad he was there as our server at times was standing at the bar talking when we needed refills. This helper was also the one to take away our empty plates and bring us a to-go box for my wife's leftovers. I think one of the things which disappointed me during this visit was watching several of the servers making real connections with guests. Getting to know them, some even hugging each other assuming they are regulars. However, our server never asked if we had been there before, if we were celebrating anything, how our day was going, NOTHING. When you visit a local establishment like this you hope to get that little personal service. You want to feel welcomed and maybe this could be a regular place to visit. However, with this level of disengagement, I do not think we will be back if so won't be any time soon. It's a real shame considering how long they have been around. However, I gave this place 3 stars because the service was horrible. The server was a much older gentleman who didn't seem to care for us as guests. Hubs and I came here for lunch during the week and it was still pretty busy. We had the crab cakes which were superb and stuffed with jumbo limb crab. Just the way it's supposed to be. Then we have the stuffed lobster tail. It was very creamy and rich. Lots of bread piers which I wasn't too fond of but the lobster pieces were good. It was more of the tail chopped up and mixed in with bread and some sort of creamy shrimp mayo sauce and put back into the tail. It a dark place, so somewhat romantic but it's not fancy. This is a cute tucked away restaurant in a shopping center in Addison. It is unassuming but very cute inside. It has a bar and nice sort of romantic atmosphere. I got the snapper with broccoli and baked potato, my amigo got the lobster bisque because he just had some teeth pulled and couldn't eat solid foods. We loved our food!
