Solid lunch buffet. I love lunch buffets. They are fast, and I like being able to sample a bunch of things. Add in the reasonable price of less than $9, and this place is a winner. Whoever is frying things in back is a gem with a great hand for deep frying. The chicken "wings (often cut up chicken breast on the bone) were crispy but not too oily. So were the tempura veggies. The red curry chicken was very decent. You can add more pepper if you want it spicier - they set up a spice station by the salad dressings. The green papaya salad was forgettable. So was the salad bar. Service was fast and pretty attentive. They cleared my dishes and brought me more water as needed. Was craving Thai food, but the restaurant we usually order take-out from is closed on Sundays so we decided to dine at Lemon Grass Thai Kitchen instead. We've ordered take-out a few time from Lemon Grass, but this was my first dining-in experience with the restaurant. The service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly. We never once had to ask for drink refills and the staff immediately offered us take-out boxes when they saw we did not finish our meal. We ordered the Green Curry with chicken and the Prik Khing with chicken. Both dishes were great, but the Green Curry was my favorite because the coconut and basil in the dish is so fragrant and the sweet coconut flavor balances so well with the spice. In my opinion you receive a generous portion of chicken and vegetables for $13. For dessert we had the Thai Donuts. The hot fresh donuts were simple, but tasty. The donuts were served with sweet peanut sauce. (I was hoping for a chocolate dipping sauce, but the peanut sauce was good too.) I don't think I would order this dessert to-go. This is a lunch time regular on our list at work. Occasionally we go for the buffet but we usually get take out. The buffet is very popular and the place is always packed at lunch time. There is a good variety and they are continually refilling with fresh food. One bad thing about the buffet is if you like spicier food, the spicy items aren't that hot. It is also less than 10 bucks a person (cheaper if you don't get a drink.) It is even better for takeout. Our Thai member of our team usually places the order so when she orders something Thai Hot, it comes Thai Hot which is good for me because I am the one who gets it Thai Hot. When I have called it in, the Thai Hot is not as hot. We always have a big order and they always get it right. Most lunch items are 7.50 and they come with a small soup and a spring roll. Everything is great. The one bad thing about this place is that the dining room and parking lot are both too small! If they had twice the space, I think they would still always be packed for lunch. If the parking is full, you can go around the back and park in a grassy area. That parking area also fills up because this place is just that good. read more

Lemongrass Thai Kitchen is located off Kennedy, across from Renzos Grill in South Tampa. We came on a Monday night and this place was packed. Luckily Lemongrass still had seating available on their patio without a wait. We got the steak pad Thai and red curry chicken rice bowl and both came out with incredible huge portion sizes. We both could eat only half our meals and had another meal for later. I have to say both dishes came out perfectly spiced, well marinated, and were very tasty! The interior decor and furniture seems a bit dated but the food and portion sizes are great! Perhaps some nicer chairs, tables, table clothes, booth seating, or paint on the walls instead of mirrors would go a long way in giving the place a more classy upscale and festive feel. No booth seating is available at this restaurant. Since Lemongrass was pretty busy and they only have 2 servers, service and the speed of food coming out of the kitchen was a bit on the slow side but that is undersranable. Since it was during the week, I can only presume it will be a lot more busy during The Weeknd so I'd definitely encourage management to hire more staff if they're regularly that busy. I heard their lunch buffet is a great value for only $9 during the week 11am-215pm! Yeap 5 stars! This review is for their lunch buffet. I'll start with WOW! I was floored when I saw the lunch buffet, lots of yummy Thai favorites to choose from. They have 2 stations along the back of the restaurant. One had salads like green papaya salad and cucumber salad, different kinds of sauces and chutneys and 2 desserts. The other table had 3 different kinds of soups, 2 kinds of rice, 3 different kinds of chicken dishes like Panang curry with chicken, minced chicken with basil and veggies, green curry with chicken, Pad Thai, tempura veggie, fried chicken and spring roll. All of that for $8.95. You can also order off the menu but I would really recommend the buffet. The restaurant itself is quite small, not many tables available. Lunch times are very busy, it's the best deal on Kennedy Blvd. There's also outside seating available. They don't take reservations during lunch hours. Finding a Parking is little challenging, there's parking available in the front, side and back of the restaurant. Back parking is unpaved so be careful with your tires. I usually order my stuff thai hot and I took a bite out of it and said it was spicy. My friend nicely told the wait staff that the pad thai was spicy and could they decrease the spice.
