I still love Lemongrass, and while I no longer live in the Warwick area, my husband and I continue to make the drive. A couple of updates to my favorite menu items - the jumbo shrimp with baby bok choy is absolutely delicious, fresh, and light. I've ordered it the last four times I've been. One of my go to places when I'm in the mood for take out Americanized Chinese food with the occasional Pad Thai and sushi options as well. The soup makes for a good home remedy when I'm in desperate need of fluids when I'm under the weather. The place is located on the busy Post Road and they're definitely got good business if the parking lot is packed every night and people are still in the restaurant close to closing time. At the take out counter I would see rows of orders from pick up customers. A very upscale feel to the place complete with a fully stocked bar and intimate lighting. There's a larger sitting area on the right side that I haven't been privy to but I recall hearing people asked to be seated over there when there are empty booth seats at the entrance. The few times I ate here, service was great and haven't had to twist anybody's arm. All in all this beats any of the small hole in the wall typical Chinese take out restaurants and the pricing is spot on. read more

Still 5 stars, I'm happy to report. Lemongrass greatly expanded about a year or more ago. We went once in the middle of the expansion, (we've been coming here for seven years!!) and service was not good. And cuisine not up to par on that one occasion. We love Lemongrass and so decided to wait a considerable amount of time (many months) before going back. We went last night and both the food and service were beyond EXCELLENT! Wonderful and terrific, just as we remembered and we're SO happy. We had vegetarian dumplings, hot and sour soup, salad, sizzling beef and Thai shrimp. Everything came exactly as ordered (no spice for my shrimp dish, please)! And we're too stuffed for dessert. Five Stars, Lemongrass. Your renovation is lovely! You are still our favorite Asian cuisine restaurant in RI! PS. They also have a significant sushi menu, and their sushi is fresh and delicious, not to mention novel, as well. Some Of the best sushi I've ever had. Always fresh, always lite and the spicy mayo is amazing! I've had 3 different rolls today but in all I've tasted at least 7 different style rolls from here and all are yummy. The fried is a mixture of veggies and your choice of meat. Never waited for then 15min for a takeout order and maybe 15 or less for a sit down dinner inside. Highly recommended and the prices average and are not expense. read more

Just ordered from Lemongrass for the first time tonight and we really, really liked it. The crab rangoons were delicious and perfectly cooked, the nime chow was one of the best that I've had in RI, and my Pad Thai was awesome. But there were some things that we didn't like -- the boneless spare ribs were incredibly dry, the general tsao's chicken was soggy, and my shrimp in the Pad Thai were under-seasoned and very dry as well. We will definitely still get food from here again, especially because there aren't very many great Thai places in RI, but not everything is excellent. read more

My husband was craving Asian food Friday, but we both wanted to try somewhere different. He remembered a restaurant called Lemongrass in nearby Warwick, RI- it's one of those places we have passed by for years and always have said we should go there, but never had of course. I am glad he thought of it, because it ended up being one of the best Asian restaurant experiences we have ever had. Lemongrass is an "Asian bistro," but I think the only thing that really classifies it as such is that the interior may be a bit more upscale than a typical neighborhood Asian restaurant, plus there's a full bar. We arrived around 7 on Friday night, and only had to wait a few minutes before we were seated at a comfy booth. Now the reason why our Lemongrass experience was so great definitely had to do with the food, which was good, but more so, it had to do with the service. Our waiter was a young boy, probably of high school or college age, and while he wasn't overly talkative, he was ridiculously attentive. He not only brought out every request of ours right away (things like drinks, extra plates etc. . . ), but he made sure to double check we had our entire order once the food came out. He asked us quite a few times if we needed anything (without being annoying), and I was so impressed that I went out of my way not only to tell him how good he was, but his manager too! Anyway, the food at Lemongrass was great too. It was on par with all of my other favorite Asian restaurants, though admittedly, nothing stood out as "the best" I have ever had. We started with some green tea- I wish it came out in a pot rather than in individual mugs because I had to ask for refills quite a few times. I started with one of my favs- nime chow, or fresh spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce. It was delicious and as tasty as I have had anywhere else. We also had some vegetarian spring rolls (the fried kind), and they were fresh, crispy and full of crunchy veggies. For dinner, we enjoyed some veggie fried rice. Again, it was very good- the rice was perfectly cooked and not mushy at all. I also appreciated how it wasn't too greasy but still quite flavorful. I also ordered their vegetarian pad thai without egg. My only complaint about it was that there was almost too many peanuts sprinkled on top! Pad thai is a bit sweet to begin with, so the excessive peanuts actually made it a tad too sweet. The noodles were perfect though. Ultimately, Lemongrass was a big hit- the food is just as good as anywhere else I have been with a similar menu, but the service really took it over the top! read more

I realized the other day that my review was overly sub-par, so I decided to head over to revisit and update. Since I've been here last, Lemongrass has gone through a major renovation. The new entrance and bar area is very well done. Looks very well thought out and inviting. Their secondary dining room/sushi area is now their main dining and they have expanded another 2 storefronts, adding a new dining room and a function room. The food is still spot on. As simple as chicken-rice soup is... Their is very tasty and still one of my favorites around. Friendly service. Good portions. Clean food. And they always accommodate my adoration of spicy food. Finally, good Chinese food!!! We were recommended to check out this place in lieu of finding any amazing Chinese places a little closer to home. We were immediately seated and asked for drinks. The service was almost slow, but the restaurant manager came over and asked if we've had our order taken and immediately took it. He was on point and came back after our food was brought out to make sure we were loving it, which we were. I stuck to my normal order of egg drop soup starter, she ordered the dumplings, both of which were perfectly presented. The taste was far above other places we've tried in nearby communities. She ordered pineapple rice and I ordered pork fried rice and both of which were perfect compliments to our sesame chicken and general Tso's, respectively. Atmosphere was contemporary and some Kenny G like Muzak plays softly in the background. I found myself loving the food, comfortable and clean booth, pleasant temperature, and a quieter environment than a lot of packed restaurants of similar size tend to get. Ohhhh they have some great sushi and pad thai! Very happy with the quality of food, and price. I judge a place based on their sign (I'm in marketing, I can't help it!) and this place has your typical cheesy acrylic sign with the light behind it. I just figured it would be run of the mill. But my companion picked up our to go, so I didn't see the inside, but he said he was pleasently surprised upon entering their establishment. So we are a chinese food loving household. We have tried many locations all over RI and lemongrass has become our new favorite. We have visited five times in the last two months and have not been disappointed. My faves are the crispy chicken and the shooting star roll. Drinks are also made strong here. First off, I think it's only fair to mention that Seattle is home and we have some fantastic authentic Thai restaurants. I was staying near the Providence airport and wanted Thai food and this place had the highest rating with a large number of reviews. Now let me tell you about my experience... It's not actually a Thai restaurant, it's more of an Asian fusion place. A combo of mostly Chinese, some Japanese, a few Thai elements and even some Vietnamese. When I walked in, I was surprised by the entrance. You walk to to the bar and have to walk past to the host stand/order/pickup counter. I was greeted by a very polite woman who asked me what I wanted to order. I read the order for a few minutes and was disappointed by the number of Thai offerings. Over half the menu was Chinese and over a third was Japanese and Thai and Vietnamese made up the rest. Tired after a long day of work and being hungry, I ordered the fresh spring rolls, broccoli shrimp and a Thai iced tea. I added extra shrimp to the order and they were an extra $0.75 each. I added 10 and the order came to $25. I paid and waited for my order -- she said roughly 10-15 minutes. While I sat and waited, I say across from the bar in the waiting area and watched person after person come in for their phoned in to-go orders. Even if it's not authentic, the place is popular and cranks some serious food volume -- I guess I cannot fault their menu because it's obviously working for the local audience. There was a man and woman who came in while I waited who grabbed a menu and had the same "where's the Thai?" reaction that I did. They ended up deciding to leave in search of more authentic Thai food. When my order came up, a new woman handed it to me and was super friendly. Instead of double checking my order I decided to live a little and wait to open when I got back to my hotel room. I have to laugh. I just examined the contents of my order: 1. Thai iced tea: its simply a cup of iced tea, a small cup of what looks like corn syrup and two coffee creamers. That's a new take on Thai iced tea. 2. Fresh spring rolls: the rolls themselves were pretty tasty and fresh. They lacked a real shrimp presence but they were decent. The peanut sauce they came with was a strange clear liquid. It sort of tasted like peanuts but was way too sweet and watery. Not a true peanut sauce. 3. Broccoli shrimp: its a good thing I paid for the extra 10 shrimp -- because that's all I received -- only 10. It was ok. Americanized Chinese food (meat and veggies slathered in sugar sauce). All in all, it was very disappointing. Maybe this is the norm here but it certainly is not where I'm from. I don't think I'd eat here again nor recommend it to anybody -- especially anybody looking for Thai food. Maybe I should have followed the lead of the man and woman who decided to go elsewhere! read more

Great food but worse service on the planet! Sitting here 10 minutes and still no service or recognition. Wait staff wandering around sipping soda, sitting at sushi bar and just plain ignoring us. 4 of us had dinner here and we all enjoyed what we have. Staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. 2 of us had Combination dinners that came with vegetable fried rice. One had spring roll and veggie fried rice. I had the Chefs special seafood delight that's GF in potato basket. Very good. We all really enjoyed the veggie fried rice. When it comes to Chinese and Thai food I am extremely picky. My favorite Chinese and Thai restaurants funny enough are located in Germany, I have found it difficult to find anything that compares here in the States. There is a Chinese restaurant in Greenville, South Carolina that is comparable to my favorites and thankfully a little bit closer to home we found Lemongrass. The menu is Americanized Asian food but at least it's fresh, flavorful, and cooked properly. We tried the crab ragoons, Thai Shrimp Salad, Beef with Green Beans, and the Pad Thai. The crab ragoons were made with a perfect amount of filling and weren't too greasy, the Thai Shrimp Salad had the right seasoning and spices but it was just a little to overdressed, the Beef with green beans was just too salty but the Pad Thai was spot-on. The staff was very friendly and the service was awesome. We will be back to sample more. read more

We ate at Lemongrass tonight after running some errands in Cranston and Warwick. The good reviews on Yelp are what led me to Lemongrass. I was not too interested in much of what was on the menu but on the last page of entrees I saw some Vietnamese dishes that looked great. We ordered and were very happy with the Nime Chow, Bee Boong with pork, and Bahn Hoi with pork. The Bahn Hoi did not come with chili sauce but on request it was provided and definitely made that dish shine. Our waiter was very nice and politely corrected a mistake on our bill. Our waiter also gave us some tips on places to check out in Providence (we are infrequently in Warwick and are on the hunt for good Pho). I am looking forward to stopping by Lemongrass, again, whenever I find myself in Warwick. read more

I came here this past Friday night. It was pretty crowded so we sat at the bar. Tonia the bartender was great. Started out by splitting a scorpion bowl which was delicious. For food we got three different sushi rolls which were all awesome. One was the Rhode Island roll and I forgot the others. Nice presentation and friendly service. Randomly dined here after a soccer game one Tuesday night. Upon walking in, the hostess was not pleasant at all. We had to ask to be seated and she replied "oh" and then walked us to a table and threw our menus down without even greeting us! The waitress was actually much friendlier and appeared to be enjoying her job. She was accommodating and apologetic when we sent back the edamame...see below.... The food is sub-par here ... WHY NO CHILDRENS MENU??? This is a family restaurant correct?? I stopped coming here for several months when the last two times i spent more on my kids meal than mine. She's 7. It's inexcusable not to have a childs menu, especially when you cant make substitutions on the combo meals. Other than that, service is typical Asian restaurant, hit or miss. Food is good, thats why I continue to give this place another chance. And another... and probably only one more after again trying to get a child size portion of what she wants for under $20 (and failing again). I tried the wonton soup and the chicken fried rice. Both were OK, but nothing special. The soup contained plenty of wontons, but they tasted underdone. I opened one and it was properly cooked. It just tasted odd. In addition there were several snow pea pods. That was it. Basically average. The chicken in the fried rice looked and tasted like it had been boiled. It was certainly not fried with the rice but added as the dish was packaged. Not necessarily bad, but not really good either. But there was a good supply of chicken. I have been to Lemongrass at least a half dozen times in the last year. Almost always for a pick up order. I always follow their instructions for pick up in regards to time. Yet on several occasions I had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for the food to be ready. Just tell me upfront to wait a little longer before coming in. Problem solved. The food is always delicious. The portions are hearty and the price is always fair. On the few occasions I've eaten at the restaurant, the staff were friendly and on point. Everything was hot, which was good. If you understand what I meant. When you go to Asian restaurants, most likely they will serve you hot teas which most likely are not so hot. So when I got my hot tea after a day of flying from West to East coast and driving 2 hours during rush hours, you understand how appreciated I was having a real hot tea. Then came the 3 delight soup, it was delicious and yes, hot too. Pa-thai was good, a little bit on the sweet side. Walnut shrimp was tasty. Chicken wings were crispy and yes, hot, right out of oven kind of hot. The service was great. As my younger son said, his ice water got refilled quickly, no need asking. It also uses real plates/bowls to serve its dishes, no plastic and paper type, which I love. Overall, its a pleasant experience dinning there. Fast service, reasonably priced, pretty delicious food. I shared a black dragon roll and an appetizer with nime chow (I think it's called) and for an entree I had the green beans and chicken in garlic thai style. My friend had a lychee martini and a combination entree with rice, green curry and crab rangoon. I don't have much experience with Thai food, but a good portion of their menu seemed to be what I would consider typical American Chinese food down to the chicken fingers and General Tsos. Not really sure why so many people rated this high. Quality of food reminds me of mall food or buffet food. Ordered Nime Chow, Crab Rangoon, and Beef Teriyaki for appetizers. They came out in about two minutes, and the waitress said they were bored back there because it was slow. The Rangoons and teriyaki felt like they were just under a warming lamp, which was really a bummer. For entrees we ordered Orange Chicken and Sesame Chicken, which were nice and crispy (actually dark meat for the Orange, which is really nice to see) but otherwise bland and one note, barely indistinguishable from one another.
