Bagels are good but overpriced. I always ask for my bagels extra toasted because I find NYC bagels shops never toast your bagels when you just say "toasted." This place is no exception, but just be aware they charge AN EXTRA 75 CENTS for extra-toasting. WHAT?!!! It's so ridiculous to me given a bagel with cream cheese here is $6.51. I understand these people are overworked and understaffed, but they gaslight you and make you feel like an asshole when you ask the status of your order that was supposed to be ready 30 minutes ago. I understand you have one guy in the kitchen making bagels for 40 people, but if that's the case give me a realistic ETA and don't yell at me for inquiring. This has now happened 2 days in a row where 3 different members of the staff have made me feel bad because i simply asked about an order that was well past its pickup time. If you're the manager reading this, hire more people and incentivize happier staff. This place has potential but many of me and the locals are starting to really be put off by the way we are spoken to. Think soup nazi Seinfeld vibes. There's long been a bagel shop-shaped hole in this neighborhood, and I'm so glad Leon's has arrived to fill it. My bacon egg and cheese was perfect: it had a buttery flavor without being greasy, the perfect amount of saltiness, the bacon struck that balance between crispness and still having some flexibility. They also have a delicious lox cream cheese. The bagels themselves are perfectly chewy without being rubbery. The establishment is small (to-go orders only, ordering is electronic, and pickup is at a large walk-up window). The menu is limited. I think these are both fine things, since it means they're focused on doing what they do well, and without passing the cost of lots of real estate on to the customer. Pretty bad experience. Hot Chocolate was lukewarm, so I let them know and kindly asked if they wouldn't mind making a new one that is hotter. The second one was only mildly better. I had also ordered a Classic Lox sSandwich, and I waited, and waited, and waited, and I eventually gave up and they refunded my money. When I initially went to check to see if it was coming soon, they said "oh yeah, it's almost ready." So I waited a little longer and then I checked back in again to let them know that I needed to catch a plane. I must've stood there for another 10 minutes after that, for a total of nearly 25 minutes. The girls there glared at me because I made some comment about the situation. They already felt like they've been sitting out too long at 8am. it does have convenience if you are around the neighborhood. nevertheless even though I got here early and I was only the second person online, the prep time was unusually long (to smear butter on a bagel).
