Came here to kill time while my car was getting serviced nearby. Location is great but parking can be tedious because of its proximity to other great eats and bars of uni heights. This place has a very strong neighborhood community presence. Many locals that came by and one brought by treats for the barista and server. I've always loved their Yerba mate tea here. I can't believe they are open 24.. air of a lot of focus and studying going on or friends catching up. Asked barista if there was a bathroom code and he made a joke that he wish there were with all the action it gets! 0_0 at 2 pm they seemed a little pressed for the sprouts of rushes they get but they seemed unbothered by the line and moved at their own pace. We were looking for a place where three adults and three teens could hang out on a rainy night without closing down the shop. This was my second time at this location. After driving around the block, I lucked into a parking spot about a half block away. We ordered a few pastries to share (rice crispy treat but with Froot Loops, a lemon bar, and a peanut bittersweet/chocolate bar), and a couple of drinks. Love their Italian sodas (we had cherry vanilla). We put together a few tables in the back for the six of us. After an hour, the teens got bored and decided to move to another table to play some games. I love that this place is open 24 hours. Nice central location. One suggestion (which I made to staff at a different location): please write up a list of the flavored syrups available for Italian sodas. It's way too hard to read them from across the counter, and time consuming for staff to let us know what they have. read more

I don't think that 24/7 coffee/study/conversational spots are given enough credit, because for what Le Stat's provides is really more than a lot of people realize. For me? It's all that and more! Coming here several years ago during the start of college, I was essentially scouting out a place to just come and study, after all, watching all those Disney movies taught me that when you go to college you study at a coffee shop! LOL! Off the recommendation of some colleagues I myself sitting down with my computer and books at 10pm with a pastry and a glass of water simply studying it up like it was no ones business. Now several years later, after I've graduated, where do I find myself on a late weekend night after a huge productive week at work? Sitting down, with my computer and a book at 10pm with a pastry and an iced americano studying it up like it was no ones business. And THAT'S why I come back, because of the consistency this coffee shop brings so you can also bring consistency to the shop. The baristas are helpful and quick, working a menu with plenty of beverage choices and food items to keep you going strong. They have power strips around the floor so you don't have to fight anyone when you're in need of juice. During the week it can get pretty busy especially around lunch and in the afternoons, not to mention any midterms or finals weeks. Aside from that, it's a solid choice to go when you have things to take care of. I would also mention that if you need to use the bathroom, they have two conveniently located for you. Now it's not always the cleanest, so let them know when you can, because it's probably due to the high influx of customers. Lighting is darker in some places so it's good that there are plenty of seats to choose from. The vibe is chill throughout the day and through the night, I've been able to study on my own or with groups, and it doesn't feel like I'm ever being intruded on and this is due to the amount of space available. There are two rooms, one connected with the barista, and another with more tables and and royal chairs you can sit in while getting work done or just cozying up with a cup. What others would call strange, I'd say the character has always been, and God willing will stay, curiously unique! Furniture from different walks come together here and create a community of things just like the people that come in daily. Overall? I continuously come back whenever I want to focus on some reading or work. This is my current #1 coffee shop in SD. Fave of all time is Old California but I moved out of San Marcos. So out of everywhere in the "down south" area from La Jolla to the border I've been to Lestat's on Park the most. I think it's open 24 hours? I've spent some late nights here for work and school. Pretty consistent crowd from the workers to the regulars. Better than the other two Lestat's in my opinion. I think it's gone downhill a little bit since the pandemic but I know all places have to save costs and cut expenses. The coffee is always good. Food is usually good and you'll always find a seat. Can't say the same for parking though... read more

Food is ok as is the service. Convenient, walkable location with lots of indoor seating and outlets. Good for studying. Biggest complaint: Staff at register talking loudly with each other dropping the F-bomb every 30 seconds. I have my son here with me reading. I do not recommend this environment for young children or those that take offense to a constant onslaught of curse words. Wouldn't mind as much if my son were not here, but the staff seem unaware of young customers and use of language. read more

Came here for the first time after a workout class with a friend. Sad to say I will not be returning. We witnessed the wildest interaction between staff and customer that I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot because I've worked in dive bars... First, I see the "manager on duty" follow a female patron outside, where she attempted to sit down with her coffee mug, dog, and books. The "manager" starts yelling at the lady telling her she needs to leave, the lady tells her she wants to stay and drink the coffee she paid for. Not sure what caused the issue as the manager was overcome with irrational anger and couldn't explain why she needed to go. The whole situation becomes escalated by the "manager" who try's to wrestle the coffee cup out of the woman's hands, splashing hot liquid everywhere. They continue yelling at each other and the lady sits down at the table...at this point the "manager" starts towering over her, attempting to intimidate her while continuing to yell/argue and further escalate the situation. She continued standing over her for literally 35 minutes. It genuinely seemed like she was trying to provoke her. They had a crowd of people standing on the sidewalk watching and a few even jumped in to participate in yelling at the patron. Finally some guy shows up claiming to be the owners son. He joins in yelling at the patron with the "manager on duty" and proceeds to grab her chair and DUMP HER OUT OF IT. I could not believe my eyes when I saw what happened next... she stands up and HE THEN SHOVES HER! It was giving major nepobaby/micro p energy. I witnessed (what looked like) a lady go from minding her own business to being assaulted. To put the cherry on top he then TOOK HER BOOKS AND THREW THEM ON THE SIDEWALK!!! We were in disbelief. While the customer may have been wrong, this handling of the situation was absolutely disgusting. I hope she presses charges. It's pretty simple what should be done when asking someone to leave your business. Tell them to leave and explain why calmly. If they refuse, let them know you will call the authorities. If they still don't leave, walk away, and call said authorities. Boom! Problem solved. But, I guess it's bold of me to assume someone with bleached eyebrows has good decision making skills. So Lestats, thanks for the free entertainment, but I've had better coffee from a used car dealership. Save yourself the $8 and use that Nespresso you've been neglecting because the hot bean water they serve ain't it. read more

Recently my drink has been tasting weird and after ordering it for the second time, it still tasted weird with a bad aftertaste. The perfect study place. I used to always be here late at night studying. 4 years later I decided to come and see how it is, I wanted to get work done. I absolutely love the amount of space there is here. The coffee is good and they have so many selections. Customer service was 10/10 honestly much better than I remember. The woman who helped me was really sweet. It looks like most people have forgotten about Lestats because it's not as busy at used to be but I definitely recommend it. It's the best one. I don't think they're open 24 hours anymore but they are open until midnight which is more than any other place. Definitely coming back! read more

The water here was excellent! It is cold and comes with ice. I noticed that I received a different type and size of cup than other customers, so there may be a lack of consistency in cups. Let me start this off by saying the coffee was mid at best and the avocado toast was even worse. When I ordered, I was the only person waiting for an order and they waited at least 8 minutes to start making my toast. The three workers were doing other things. When they finally decided to make it, the manager on duty (she had bleached eyebrows) walks into the kitchen let's out a huge burp and then throws her phone on the workstation... hello unsanitary? Then leisurely makes my order. To top off the circus that is this place... there was some altercation with a customer. I can't speak to exactly what happened initially but I witnessed the middle and aftermath. While the customer may have been wrong it was completey mishandled. The manager on duty (bleached eyebrows) was trying to kick the customer outside, proceeds to follow her and then attempts to rip the coffee mug with hot coffee straight out of the customers hand, splashing it everywhere. She then towers over her, intimidating her for around 30 minutes while attempting to call the authorities. Eventually, the GM (he said he's the owners kid) comes and he and the manager on duty start to crowd around this woman, further escalating the situation. He proceeds to take her chair and pushes her out of it and as she gets up lady he physically pushes her body. He then takes her things and throws everything on the ground. Even if this customer was crazy, she wasn't physically assaulting these people. As managers you should be able to deescalate the situation but they did the complete opposite. I cannot believe the GM pushed the woman. I am in complete and utter shock. I was excited to come here as I've never been but have lived her for years. Regret buying my $8 coffee and $10 avocado toast. I would be embarrassed as owners to have people on staff who escalate situations like this when there are customers around... not to mention they were on the sidewalk bringing even more attention to themselves. The food and coffee is decent. It's been a LONG time since I've posted up here, but I used to frequent this Lestat's all the time while in college. It sucks when you make it to your fav little coffee shop after finally finding parking, only to find that there is not a single open seat... but thankfully that doesn't happen too often here, especially if you come before, say, 7 pm. It's a big place - plenty of tables, plenty of chairs, a few comfy couches, and lots of outlets. Street parking isn't usually too difficult to find around here. I guess it was busy and they wanted to keep a steady rotation of customers, but I didn't like the aggressive attitude he showed me. All tables were mostly taken with single patrons on their Macs so it was hard to find a spot to sit and eat, but luckily we found an open table. Smoothie: California Sunrise is their most popular so I got this and it was good! The berries blended well together and tasted delicious! Artichoke and Tomato Panini: this sandwich needed something more, it tasted bland and was not appealing at all. Maybe adding pesto sauce or a garlic aoili, or mushrooms, spinach, or sun dried tomatoes, something needed to be added in there to make it more flavorful.
