First time for dinner. Let me start by saying the star of the night which was our server. I wish I had gotten her name but she was so busy I never had a chance. We were a nightmare group: a chatterbox toddler and a hangry 1 year old. Not to mention the grumpy parents and the a accommodating grandparents. Clam strip appetizer: yummy. Salmon dinner: on point. Rueben sandwich was very tasty but super messy ( fell apart as the bread was not very toasted). Burgers: yummy. Fries: delicious. Server: outstanding. I love this place. Lester's is a staple in the Sunrise area near the Sawgrass mall. It is south of Sunrise on 136th minutes away from the BB&T center. It was established in 1967 and was there before the Sawgrass corporate park which it sits on the perimeter of. If you are planning to go there after reading this review, look for the sign and use GPS because it is really easy to drive right by it unless you know its there. The food is great. I have been here a good 10 times, always for breakfast. My friends have told me they are great for lunch and dinner as well. Since they are open 24 hours, this would be a great spot for late night eats when you need your food fix after a night of drinking and dancing. read more

We are traveling from Texas (Houston area) & have been here 2/3 days now. Lester's by FAR my favorite place we have been. First let me start by saying we were greeted by ONLY kind smiling faces, and our server Brian(sp?!) was just completely amazing. He was so kind, warm and patient. Not only was he amazing with us, but he was running ALL OVER helping a ton of other patrons and never once did he seem put out. I'm so impressed by him and his service I don't even have the words to say enough great things. All the other staff members were amazing too, the hostess, the gentleman I'm assuming was the manager on shift, even the guys working back behind the dessert bars and in the kitchen. For diner food after midnight, this is probably your best bet. It's a little off the beaten path from the downtown Fort Lauderdale area, but worth a trip if you want to eat an inexpensive meal. Lester's has been a So Flo establishment for as long as I can remember. They have two locations. I know they've had a change of hands at the sunrise location and the interior looks gorgeous. They have the same menu as the other location to keep the continuity. The staff is always super friendly. Work in the area and this was definitely on my list to try. I had been many times to their location on State Road 84 in Ft. Lauderdale and always thought it was good. So Friday what to do for lunch? So me and my work colleague come here. Plenty of great parking in their lot out front. The sign when you enter asks you to wait to be seated. So we complied. Once we were seated we got a comfy booth. Since it is a large restaurant you are not seated on top of anyone else and there is lots of distance from anyone else. Ie since Covid this is definitely needed. I looked over the extensive menu and decided on a Shrimp Salad on rye bread. It came toasted which is great and preferred especially if the bread is not baked fresh that day. Also had a pickle and Cole slaw with it. What can I say? It didn't knock my socks off. So I ordered a Black and White cookie for the road. It was big,good but not the best. My colleague had the French Toast it came with crisp bacon and cinnamon was infused in the butter. She was very happy with her pick. Will I come back? Probably and I will work my way through the menu until I find the one that got away. Our waitress basically ignored us most of the meal, was brusque, tossed things on the table and walked away as fast as humanly possible each time she actually made her way over to us. Wanted to order dessert and asked if they had blueberry pie, came back threw the bill on the table and said no without offering any alternatives or asking if we wanted something else. No refills offered throughout the meal, and had to be flagged down for anything. I simply paid for my meal in cash and left. I called the day after to speak to the general manager and I got the same argument. In fact he claims that he has video of me getting a second cup of gravy. When I asked for him to supply me with that video he denied my request and denied my request for his name as well. He also complained that I had a service dog with me. I've been there several times with my service dog and not one time has it ever been brought up to me about any regulations that they may have about service dogs. It looks like I'm going to have to report this to the American Disability Act as well as report this to the Better Business Bureau about the way they treat their customers. read more

Hadn't been to this Lester's location in several years, but it fit our criteria in meeting a family member from out of town for brunch. We had great service and great food at a great price! They tucked us away in a nice corner round booth, which was really nice for visiting. Everything was perfect! A couple of us had breakfast skillets which were really good, one had eggs Benedict, one had an omelet and others had biscuits and gravy. The portions were plentiful and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had high hopes for this restaurant however I was a bit disappointed with my first order. I ordered a French dip sandwich, took a couple of bites and couldn't eat the rest. The meat was chewy , I dismantled one half of my sandwich to look what was going on with the meat. It was springy and not very tasty! The server came over and I told her I could not eat the rest of this so she asked me if I wanted something else. I told her I would try the patty melt type sandwich instead. The manager came over and said I had eaten half of my sandwich which I hadn't and said if I ordered something else I was being charged for the half sandwich I supposedly had eaten. He didn't even bother to ask why I didn't want to finish the rest of my meal or even apologize for the food. He just wanted to make sure we knew we would be charged for the half of the sandwich. Apparently needed to ask the manager's permission to remove it from my bill, as if i need permission to simply walk out, or have any charges reversed on my CC. Comes back and tries to get to verify what it was that i didn't like. Poor little waitress got her feelings hurt because she thinks returning poor quality food was an attack on her. What was a simple cook's problem now turned into a server problem, thus, a restaurant problem, because apparently she doesn't understand the law, that no one has to pay for food they haven't eaten if they're dissatisfied. Foolish service approach plus kitchen mediocrity equals lost transaction money, lost food money, lost returning customer money. Cashier/hostess is the poster child for rudeness. Better to go go to Dennys. While there wasn't much for me except for the Greek salad sans feta, I thought her intentions were sweet :) Btw, the Greek Salad had a very tasty dressing. I had gone to Lester's the other day and the food very good, it caught me by surprise! I wasn't sure what to get so my server, Melanie suggested the hot open Turkey sandwich and it was definitely a good pick. Then I got a blueberry pie with ice cream for dessert and when my server started asking me all these questions about how I wanted it I got confused, but when she came back with it it was absolutely gorgeous!! Lester's is one of the best diners in all of South Florida. I love the family environment. All of the staff there has been there awhile and they treat everyone great, from the regulars to those dining for the first time. Their food is always hot, fresh and tasty. We love going for breakfast. My husband always gets the same thing and won't change up his order because it is so good. I believe it is the Broward County special. My kids love their pancakes and bacon and I have gotten a few of them omelets before, country fried chicken but my ultimate favorite is the turkey club (even for breakfast) not to mention the delicious black & white cookie I can get to go and eat as a snack later on.
