Shrimp cocktail (I already ate one b4 taking the photo :) - 6/29/2024

Le District of the pristine North Cove Marina, along with its fantastic views and luxurious yachts is prime real estate and Liberty Bistro has the perfect spot for dining. First you are greeted by their charming staff: we were looked after like precious jewels, or was it because I was accompanied by my handsome husband and my gorgeous friend? Delicious appetizers and entrées. To begin, we shared the Herbed Hummus with Goat Cheese & Charcoal Grilled pita bread. My Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with Mustard Remoulade was exactly as I like it. The gentlemen n enjoyed their Liberty Charcoal Grilled Burger with Fries and Crispy Fried Cod Sandwich respectively . ++ Add good wine, good drinks, along with very good company. Five Easy Stars. Now let's sail away on that yacht...

First off, immediately order the frose. You will not be disappointed. We love frose and this is probably one of the top ones in the city. There is nothing like sipping a frose on the water with amazing sunset views. Menu is pretty basic but great. Sounds ridiculous, but shrimp cocktail is amazing (never thought I would leave a review on shrimp cocktail!) and with the burger, you can't go wrong.

I didn't know there was a French version of Eataly in NYC, although after I came to this location I realized that it's quite far off from the Italian supermarket. There were a lot of restaurants inside but not as many shopping places and it didn't look super cohesive. Either way, came to Liberty Bistro and had a dinner reservation although it didn't look like we needed it as the place was a bit empty. The interior design was super cute with the green sofa dining tables. I ordered the Moules Frites which is always so interesting to me that you would just serve up a bowl of mussels. Either way, I thought that the portion sizes were huge and that I liked the flavor that they drenched the mussels in - very buttery. I also appreciated the green onions in the mix although wish that they had put some celery or carrots in there for some more variety so that you're not just eating mussels. The fries were okay although they tasted very bad when I reheated it the next day. Overall, Moules Frites was not so bad, but I felt like the menu was a bit limited and I don't know if I would come back again for that reason.

My friend and I stopped here as we approached dinner time walking around Tribeca, but we weren't particularly hungry. We just wanted to enjoy the beautiful sunset and take in the scenery of the Hudson. My friend works in the area (though now mostly WFH), but she knows all the Tribeca's little gems. Liberty Bistro is part of Brookfield Place and being late in the day on a Sunday, we weren't able to go inside the mall to check it out. We also were seated outside, so being my first time here, I wasn't able to see what the inside looked like. From what I could see vaguely from outside, it looked absolutely stunning and very beautiful. We ordered a round of cocktails (so beautiful and delicious) and some soups. They didn't disappoint and were very yummy. The staff were very courteous and friendly. I enjoyed it here very much and I can't wait to come again - to be seated indoors and enjoy the extensive food menu!

Came here for dinner and got to watch the US Open women's final which was a great experience, especially with them serving their signature cocktail, the Honeydeuce! Definitely a more unique experience than watching the US Open at home. Service was good and the food came out relatively quickly. We ordered a half dozen oysters, moules frites, an escargot dish, and a pasta dish. Everything was delicious and savory. I would recommend the moules frites, as the broth was rich and perfect for dipping bread or fries into.

Came here for a Sunday dinner with family and thoroughly enjoyed! For apps we split the oysters, tuna tartar and the crisp shrimp. All were spectacular. For mains we tried the salmon, soup of the day, moule frites and steak frites. The sauce that came with the salmon was impressive and the portion of the mussels was very large. The only reason for a docked star was the service - we seemed to always have to be hunting our server down and seemed ignored for a good portion of the night.

What an amazing place. Came here for my birthday and the staff was so friendly and attentive!!!! We sat outside by the water and it was so nice. We came for brunch and The food was so good. Also their frozé was so good! Will definitely be back!!

After walking along the Hudson River, found our way to the Liberty Bistro. We sat outside which we loved the weather and the views, the wicker, high top stools aren't entirely comfortable. Having said that, didn't stop us from spending a couple of hours here. Their house sparkling is delicious + the mojito was well done. We shared the shrimp cocktail and the hummus + goat cheese dips. The kitchen accommodated one of being gluten free, so in addition to the pita, they brought out some taro chips. Always appreciated. If you're looking for great service, excellent atmosphere and delicious food and drinks, this is a perfect stop while in the area.

Liberty bistro was a great experience. The food was delicious, the service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was a beautiful place to eat at. It's a nice place eat by the water on a nice day. It's a bit pricey for the portion size of some items, but I guess it's considered more fine dining.

Came here for lunch. The lobster roll was pretty good, it's cool how it came in 2 mini rolls. But for ~$40 it didn't come with fries which is crazy, so I had to add it on.

    Ally W.

Like many other reviewers have said, the French Onion Soup is very good. It's salty and cheesey, with lots of caramelized onions. For the entree, I had the Whole Branzino, which was just so-so. The branzino had a nice sear initially, but the ratatouille it came with was piled on top, so made the sear no longer crispy (1 star off). It would have been great if the ratatouille was placed on the side. There were also several tiny bones left in the branzino (1 star off) which made eating a little more difficult. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was not bad for dessert, but seems to be one that is available at any bakery. The decor and ambiance makes you feel like you are in a cute Parisian cafe. I can see how outdoor seating here in the summer can be quite nice. Maybe I'll check it out again when the weather is warmer and the fish is crispier.

    Christine H.

Beautiful place Easy to get to Yummy food and drinks Pricey but worth it Service is pretty good the hostess could fix her face Tyler our server was great and very attentive The outdoor area is beautiful just missing the heaters There's live music The French onion soup is perfect The tuna tartar is delicious could use a little more chips The truffle fries can be crunchier My husband said his burger was well made and tasty. Will definitely come back for Brunch

On a gorgeous Saturday evening, 9 of us stopped by here at around 6pm with no reservation. And you know what? They had enough space to accommodate us. Granted it was indoors. But we wanted indoors. Air conditioning, you know? It's a bit too dark indoors, but I'll take that over dining in a pool of my own sweat in the lovely but sweltering patio area. Our server was great, and despite our large party, got every one of our orders correct and delivered on time. Standouts were the fresh Market Oysters and my homey Bistro Burger. Maybe skip the Seafood Salad if you're hungry, as it's a tiny portion for the price. Drink-wise, the Summer Daisy and Stress Reliever will have you happily sipping and 'gramming in equal measure. Bonus: Hunt for pastries and/or ice-cream in Le District marketplace that's attached to this bistro to top off your meal.

The French onion soup she got as her first course was delightful! So rich, beautifully done!!! That was the high point. The branzino when they brought it out they spilled a decent bit of the sauce on my wife's foot (she was in sandals). No real apology and no one offered to give her anything to clean up. Unnecessary confrontation over a 5-minute early pickup…read more I'm a regular Too Good To Go customer and have picked up bags from Maman before without issue. This visit was a frustrating exception. The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly.

I snagged a seat on their upstairs patio, surrounded by the kind of older, well-heeled UES regulars that give the place such a quintessential NYC vibe. I went with the $35 lunch special, which gets you an appetizer and an entrée. For my app, the Escargots de Bourgogne- absolutely the star of the meal, I could've eaten a second order. The Crêpe Forestière for my entrée was lovely too, and I washed it all down with a lemonade. Everything was genuinely delicious. My one small gripe: I got charged for two lemonades, which stung a little given that (a) it's lemonade, and (b) the glass was on the petite side to begin with. Minor quibble, though. Other than that, it was a perfect NYC lunch, exactly what I was hoping for.

While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. I didn't notice during my first visit if there were multiple servers, but the first time I did hear the waiter advise another table that the kitchen was behind and there would be a wait for food. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.
