Wednesday 5:57pm. 1. Love 1/2 price cocktails at happy hour (3:30-6) for FULL size drink. I also love that the bartenders are pros. PRO TIP...if you are sitting at bar sit between the lights. Edison bulbs are annoying if you are sensitive to that. 2. Salad bar is my bag. Caesar with option of whole anchovies. The other options are just solid choices (large green olives) and multiple bread choices with option of ice cream scoopers of butter. 3. Switch to a glass of red wine. Got a taste before I committed. Solid move by bartender. Wine glasses are perfectly matched for red. 4. $55 Wednesday 10oz filet special. Just wondering if you can order 2 X 1/2 side? Plenty of mashed for 2. 4. Trying to figure out if there is a perfect way to end a close to perfect meal. Amaretto? frangelico? Scotch? Actually I may need to find a cigar on the way home.

I have been searching for a great happy hour and I think I've finally found my spot (3-6 M-F and half off all drinks)! We were craving a good salad bar and decided to try Library 2 for the first time in years. We went right after work on a Friday and the bar was empty around 3:45pm. By 4:30 the bar was crowded. When we first arrived there was one bartender working but by the time we left they had 3 bartenders making drinks for the bar and for dinner tables. I started with a dirty martini and finished up with a chocolate Manhattan. I loved both but especially the Manhattan. The bartender that made my drinks was great. Super personable and made her rounds often to ensure nobody was waiting for a drink for too long. My dad ordered a few margaritas and my mom had a Cosmo and an espresso martini. Going by what my parents said their drinks were decent but well worth the happy hour prices. Our drinks were between $5.50-$7 each on happy hour which is a great price for martinis and specialty cocktails. I just did the salad bar which I loved. Lettuce was fresh, not wilted, and was constantly being refilled. There were lots of different fresh toppings to choose from and a handful of different loafs of bread that went great with butter. My dad got a NY Strip and my mom got Steak on a Stick (10oz of cubed and marinated filet Mignon and NY strip served with vegetables and baked potato). All of the steak was very tender. The cubed filet and NY strip had great flavor, but my dad said his NY Strip was good but was a bit under-seasoned (still a very good meal though). We will definitely be back and I can go as far as saying that this will be our new happy hour spot. The price we paid for drinks, the salad bar, and two entrees was very reasonable. The service we received was great. The atmosphere was what I envision in a bar when I'm not feeling like sitting in a dive. Overall we had a great experience.

What is the dress code for this restaurant?

Casual attire is fine. It is a steakhouse so it's recommended you dress a little bit nicer, but it is by no means a requirement.

I just wish there was something fresh or crunchy to balance out all the soft textures from the bread, beef patty, and cheese. I also added beef bacon to my burger, even though it's not listed as an add on the menu. I really wish more of these newer smashburger restaurants had lettuce and/or tomatoes as an add on topping. That would help cut through the grease and make the burger feel a little lighter. The restaurant is very clean and bright, I liked the atmosphere while I was in there and the staff were nice!

Oddly enough there is an ordering kiosk at the counter right next to where you would order with staff. I guess that is for if you're feeling anti-social. Sitting area upstairs, so it is not wheelchair or elderly friendly for the sitting area. No outdoor seating. A very hustle & bustle kinda deal. We had the double patty smash. Overall was it "WTT?" Worth The Trip....YES! Absolutely!! The burger was amazing. It tasted like the smashburger in my mind. Perfection! So even at 30 minutes from my house and horrific parking, I would definitely come back. Grades: Double Patty: A++

Stage House Tavern 1719 Amwell Rd…read more Somerset, NJ 08873 Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast The restaurant entrance looks like the front of a house surrounded by grassland. Not actually has a full size bar, indoor dining area, and an outdoor patio. This is a slight variation from a traditional chicken Parmesan entrée. The cutlet was prepared differently. The edges were pounded thin and had a crispy texture. The center of the cutlet was thick and chewier. Hidden beneath the cutlet was house made spinach linguine. It's different from typical pasta, but it has an acquired earthy taste. The appearance of the vodka sauce isn't the most appealing, but it tastes a lot better than it looks. The sauce was thick and creamy and had chunks of tomato. I highly recommend requesting an additional cup of sauce for full flavor. Overall, I enjoyed this plate. The minor drawback was we arrived while our server was ending his shift during our meal. We were assigned another server and it lead to miscommunication. #stagehousetavern #chickenparmreview #parmesancrustedchickenbreast

The restaurant was not yet crowded, yet my husband and I were put essentially in an "alcove" seating area away from the main dining room. Absolutely no ambiance, right next to the beverage area where the servers gather and also where the high chairs and booster seats were stored. When I noted my displeasure, I was met with, "Sorry, we're really busy today and we can't seat you elsewhere." There were many other empty tables in the main dining room and also empty hightop tables in the bar area. The buffet food was overcooked and cold. The coffee tasted like it was made last night. Total of our bill was $157.00 (and we paid an additional 3% on top of this for credit card). Yes, we knew what it was a head, but they also added an automatic 20% tip and the bill still suggested that we give our server a tip, who we had to follow up with for another cup of coffee, milk and water. Extremely disappointed. We won't be coming back here for a holiday meal.

I'd avoid going here on Valentine's Day as it was impossible to get off that waitlist! I've gone in the evening but their brunch menu is definitely better. Service is great and you can scan the QR code for their menu. For brunch, they have a lot of options from crêpes to omelettes. This place is not a BYOB but they have plenty of non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails on the menu. Decor is modern, airy, and of course - pink! They also have a separate café and pastry counter if you're just stopping in and want something quicker instead of sitting down. On our most recent visit, I had the Dubai chocolate pistachio crêpe, and it was really delicious, not too sweet or too rich. And I also had the strawberry Matcha, which I enjoyed. I think this is a great spot for a weekend date, girls brunch, or just an every day indulgence. Looking forward to my next visit.
