Very disappointing. We had an hour and a half wait (drinks were good and had a seat) Once seated, the server was non-existent. Told us how to order and then left until it was time to give us our check. You order your own food..the chef was very rude. When asked what he would suggest, "crab cakes or the broiled seafood", he commented, "we are a steakhouse". I believe for the $30 that they charge for any seafood platter, he should have commented, "either on is great!!" When leaving, I asked the hostess how I could comment about the night and she gave me the website address. Being employed by a service organization and understanding how important customer service is everything, she should have asked how she could have helped. Last time ever!!! read more

My husband and I just love this restaurant. The steak is always cooked just right and my favorite part is the salad bar! The mood seems to fit so many occasions. We can bring our kids and feel as though we aren't too loud or we can go on a date night and feel like we are at an intimate place or you can come with a group for a celebration and have a great time! A gem, I'm a sucker for the ambiance. The bookshelves are appropriately delightful, the landscapes refreshing and the darkness soothing, with a great bar experience. The clientele skews older, masking the pressures of being hip. The menu offers variety without confusion, featuring a proper burger on a brioche bun. This place has a very romantic and intimate atmosphere. The lighting is very low, but the music is loud enough to enjoy without being too much. We were told to make as much noise as we wanted because it wasn't an actual library. There are books lining the walls and on display; you are more than welcome to look around and touch them. The food could be considered a little pricey depending on what your used to, but it is definitely worth it. The steak was huge and cooked exactly the way I asked. It was so nice to not send my food back to be recooked. It was flavorful and tender. The salad bar comes with the meal and is self-serve, as is the bread and cheese. I don't get the attraction. Its dark and dingy, the food is decidedly average, and it is VERY expensive. You could get a much better meal elsewhere for a third of the price, and you probably wont have to leave your table to place your order with the kitchen as you do here. read more

My husband and I used to love this restaurant. The key word being "used to". Here's why... We came here about 6 times, and every time we came we had great experience. But today was a total different story, it's like we were in a different restaurant or something. So my husband ordered his usual prime rib, and I ordered a ribeye like I always do. But today, my steak was very dry, and overcooked, it was well done and not medium like I ordered. So after eating a few bites of the very dry steak, my husband insisted I send it back (I don't usually like to send my food back, I'm afraid they will spit in it or something, lol). Anyway, so our waiter agreed that it looked dry, so he took my steak back for me. After just a few minutes my new steak came, and not only it's only half the size of my first steak and this one was a lot thinner and worse than the first steak, very dry. But what was I suppose to do? Send it back again? Then I'm sure they really will spit in my steak the 3rd time. I think cuz there's an eagles game going on at the time, so all the waiters were too busy watching the game in front of the bar, I guess so was the steak chef, so they let an intern cooking my steak? Oh well after this terrible experience, I don't think we will come back to this restaurant anytime soon. Very disappointed for a patron indeed! read more

Stepped in the culinary establishment and it was very dim and gloomy. As for someone who likes to actually see the acquaintances they came with (which I couldn't) I particularly didn't favor that characteristic. I waited patiently 30-45 minutes for my respected table with my the rest of my party. During that time though I did find a good read in the newspaper left for the consumers as they wait. I eventually got seated and I quickly acknowledged the salad bar. I have to admit, it looked quite scrumptious from a far. I finally ordered and headed over to this said salad bar. I thought the variety of salad condiments was well. As I created my legendary salad and walked back to my table I started to listen to the music playing in the restaurant. Definitely not the kind of music that plays in libraries... I didn't much enjoy the hip-hop music that played as I ate my $13.95 salad, which I found delicious. I also got a roll from this salad bar which I felt was too hard for the common foodie. Shortly going back to my table I received my 2013 Cabernet which tasted average. And for the rest of my party they got soft drinks which was given to us in large glasses instead of small glasses thanks to our waitress Joanne. We received our steaks, I got the 16 oz. filet I found it very tasty and juicy. Wasn't impressed about the rice pilaf though. And for those wondering... I didn't get desert. Ate here last night and was completely blown away! My husband and I both had the filet mignon. Perfect! So tender and seasoned just right. The all you can eat salad bar was fresh and extensive. We ordered baked potatoes (huge) and the sauteed mushroom and onion side to share. Needless to say we were stuffed! The steaks are of good quality and always cooked perfectly. The salad bar is the best, huge selection of everything you could think of to put on a salad bar. The prices recently went up, they were already high. They offer a kids menu but there is no choice of steak. When I asked about it, the server suggested a 6 oz for $25 which I thought was too costly for a child but since 2 of my children wanted steak I got it for them. It would be nice if they had a kids steak option for less than $25. Our check came out to $168 for 3 children and 2 adults, no alcohol, no appetizers and 1 dessert. The place is too dark and run down (maybe that's why they keep it so dark) The clear coating is peeling off the old tables. The staff there can be standoffish. It's no longer worth the price for me to take my family of 5, there are other steak places that have a better ambiance, the same quality steaks, friendlier service and are priced less. read more

Ok, this place rocks!!!!!! I have introduced fam and friend to this place and they travel quite far just to eat here, I'm talking 1 1/2 hr commute. Yes, trust me it's that Serious here! Their seafood makes Red Lobster a joke and I personally like Red Lobster but in comparison this place soars in terms of quality. I usually get the surf n turf or scallops. It's fairly priced, u definitely get what you pay for. The lobster tails are huge!!! All dishes come with a salad bar which is not just any salad bar, it's e real deal complete with all of the fixings you can imagine to create any kind of salad your imagination allows you with breads and cheeses. Everything is Fresh!! They have waiter service but you have to walk up to the counter and order, be advised that if you want a vegetable(baked potato) you must order it for an extra charge, it does not come auto with your meal. The decor is set up like a library with books everywhere, a true geeks delight. My kinda place:). The drinks here are fab, they have a full bar and specialty drinks. It's jam packed on the typical date nights, Thurs-Sat and quite busy during the week. If you want quality food, real seafood, cool atmosphere(you can go cute casual, jeans/nice top for ladies or casual prep for the men), sophisticated but relaxed crowd, top notch salad bar to compliment your meal and really good service, you'll want to experience Library II, I assure you that it doesn't disappoint! read more

This place is really cool. My husband and I went on a Friday night. There was a bit of wait, but a drink by the bar made the time go by much quicker. And it was our first time, we looked around at all the decor -there were books everywhere- and people watched. The food was awesome, a little on the pricey side, but well worth it. The waitress took our drink orders then explained once we decided on a main dish we go to the ordering window. After a little debate, we made our way to the window. The nice gentlemen cut the meat right in from of us (if your ordering steak). That was pretty neat. Then (depending on your order) we had a huge salad bar to binge on while we waited for our main course. It's stocked with everything you could ask for when preparing yourself an amazing salad. I ordered a seafood dish with a baked potato. There was so much food, I couldn't eat everything in one sitting, so I took the leftovers home. My husband ate the rest the next day! He was able to finish his AMAZING sirloin steak. On our way out we saw that a live band was setting up so I'm sure that made the establishment even better. I went here with a party of four for my birthday, expecting and hoping for an amazing steak dinner. What we got was "just okay". First the good: service was top notch, salad bar was delicious, scallops wrapped in bacon were great. Now the "just okay": ALL of our steaks, were completely under seasoned (we had to keep adding salt and pepper, which we never do), my husband's "rib-eye" was really just a piece of prime rib that they throw on the grill and then finish in the oven (the waitress said "this is our version of a rib-eye", which is fine, but we would've appreciated a head's up so we weren't salivating for a true rib-eye), and my daughter's filet came with the chain still attached, which was impossible to cut through (you have to ask for a center cut if you don't want the chain, which I've really never even heard of any restaurant anywhere ever serving), and the crab meat topping on my filet was quite under seasoned as well. The manager was very kind about the chain on the filet, which is the only thing we complained about, and deducted it from the bill ($30 off of a $60 surf & turf platter). Every item is a la carte, so in addition to your $38 steak, there's a $6 baked potato, $5 sauteed onions, etc. (My son ordered a $40 filet, and that's all that came on his plate.) The total bill for 4 steak dinners, 1 crab meat topping, 2 baked potatoes, one scallop appetizer, 3 sodas and 1 pint of beer came to $196 before tip. OK, here goes. It was my first time here. The place smelled like a corner bar and also looked like one. It was dark and dingy. My mother in law had oxygen on and the candles ( the only light in there) was a hazard to her and everyone around her. OK the rest. They actually spend no money to keep this place going. they don't have to pay that much in electric bills because their aren't any lights, second, they don't have to spend any money on printing menus because you walk up and order off of a black board, AND then they have the nerve to charge more than $30 per item and everything else is AL a carte! Third my filet Mignon that cost more than $35 tasted like cat food or something. It was a horrible steak and a horrible experience. I will never go here again even if someone else offered to pay or if they were giving the meal away. I hated this place! I think it's for rich people who want to believe they are regular people. The next day, my mother in law went to get her left over steak to have for dinner and it was almost raw! She said she couldn't belive how raw it was and she likes her steaks medium rare. Terrible, dark, depressing. Fine dining this is not unless you consider an overhead intercom and Aria Grande playing while you eat your 40$ rib eye as such. Filet medallions are nicely tender but soaked in gravy that was so salty and nowhere on the menu do they tell you it comes with gravy. The rib eye was flavorless and actually a prime rib thrown on the grill for one second on each side. The best thing about our meal was the baked potato. If you want to go out for steak in your sweats and a backwards hat or after work in your scrubs and a hoodie, eat overpriced food and stand in line to order your meal then this is your place. read more

How have I not left a review for Library II yet? Fantastic experience -- food, service, drinks and all. The ambience is dark and quirky like you're eating with Madam Irma Pince in the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts library, but that's completely cool for an intimate meal by candlelight. You talk directly with the butcher to place your order, enabling you to see the steak marbling before it is introduced to the grill. The premium salad bar is second to none, fresh and well maintained. We almost ended up too full for the steaks we ordered. The only downside is the price. Their menu does NOT carry prices online but they're willing to tell you the evening market prices over the phone. Dinner for two including cocktails was over $100. read more

I live close to this restaurant and it seems to be always busy. I went yesterday (Tuesday) and we didn't have to wait in line it was like half full. The inside is very cool, books everywhere, even my daughter browse for a minute or too, she likes reading. We have to order the food from a window, very original. It is expensive but my expectations were high due to the nice cars in the parking lot and expensive food might be an unforgivable taste, well it was not. I'm very disappointed, I don't mind paying for good food but this was way expensive and the taste was just bad. I never had seen a Lobster plate for $98 dollars. I'm never leave food behind but I couldn't eat my sirloin, Wife and daughters didn't like their food. Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Kiev; Potatoes over cooked too. The salad bar was ok. My daughter asked me to try my plate, I replied" you are not going to like it", she insisted and she replied, a little bit to load, "Taste like dog food" I didn't even correct her manners because she was right. I'm certainly not coming back again and I'm planning to send this comment to the owner. If they charge those prices at least have some quality food. The service was good waiters were very attentive and they have a good deal for Happy hour, but for food just go somewhere else. read more

Steak, not enough flavor, app shrimp wrapped in bacon, average at best, prices 50 at the bar w tip. 4 drinks, dinner 220 tip 60. Do the math, should have just paid my elec bill instead. it use to be great? Idk what happened. Last time I was here now that I think about it was really good. By myself at bar. 110 dollars, And I had prime rib, same app. 2 mixed drinks and a ginger ale. Again, Still to much for a steak and drink basically. I remember coming w another couple and my wife, say 10-13 ish years ago. Got 42 ounce N.Y. strip ( I wasn't paying) that night. anyway that whole night was fantastic from drinks to service to food to everything. Again not the same now. Mybe im older and got picky? We seemed rushed as well, I had to pre meditate how I was going to make the night a lit longer there, that's why I started at the bar, waited a bit, then got a table, then ate salad bar, then went back to window and ordered, they saw my tactics and finally stopped hurrying us. I came here for my dad's birthday because my parents used to go here all the time back in the day. And my dad really wanted a good steak! I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the books covering the walls. It's such a unique concept with the decorations and how you have to go up to the counter and order. I also really enjoyed the salad bar that came with my steak on a stick. The salad bar had so many different options and looked clean! My steak on a stick was amazing! So flavorful, and the vegetables that came with it were also fantastic. The baked potato that came with my meal wasn't great, but to be honest, I didn't even need the potato because of the salad bar! I would highly recommend coming here if you love steak. read more

OK, in the past had good experiences with the Library II, however went there last weekend with friends who had never been there and was embarrassed. The bernaise sauce was gloppy, and frankly gross. No flavor, and I make better out if a packet. It didn't even resemble bernaise. I was horrified to notice the " garlic mashed potatoes", , were made with jar chopped garlic, which in itself is unpalatable at best. It ruined the dish. They also have it on the salad bar, and I am so glad I recognized it. There was no seasoning on the rib eye, and it was pretty much just a bland prime rib. As usual, it doesn't do any good to complain, the server just stares at you, but I hope the chefs or cooks see this. Use roasted garlic! Make fresh bernaise and use some Montreal, anything, salt on the meat. Your not some mediocre diner! read more

I was highly disappointed. For the money I spent I expected my eyes to roll into the back of my head when I eat my steak. The meat had little flavor and was not cook to my request. In addition, they screwed up the order when they brought it to our table. The salad bar was picked through but was not replenished when it was getting low. The bread tastes like it came from a grocery store. Basically, what I am saying is for the money I spent the quality of the meal and service was not up to par. The steak at the Library is as good if not better than the Mortons, Capitol Grill, DeFriscos of the world. The place is very unique in that you can literally pick your piece of meat at the butcher counter while the butcher cuts and weighs your steak for you. We went here after a weekend soccer tournament. Needless to say, despite a shower and change of clothing back at the hotel (next door) we were all still hot and tired. We arrived without reservations, but were warmly greeted and immediately seated. Never having eaten there before, they had to explain the ordering process (you have to walk up to a window to order). It was kind of odd, but after placing our orders we went straight to the salad bar - that was next to the ordering window and was quite extensive. Our waiter and the manager were very helpful and professional. The food was quite good - I got a tenderloin that was cooked precisely to my request; my husband ordered a steak (can't remember which one) which he simply inhaled, and my son ordered chicken teriyaki . They split a brownie a la mode (which was more than enough for two) and the waiter encouraged me to get some fruit from the salad bar if I wanted something sweet - since I wasn't ordering dessert. This restaurant was exactly what we needed after two long days in the sun - dark, cool, with very good food. Three sodas, one alcoholic drink, three entrees, and one dessert - $109 with tax included.
