Though I never tried eating here I always call for their Goi Ngo Sen. I love lotus root salad and this place, per my opinion, makes one of the best lotus root salads. I always call a day or 2 days ahead of time before buying. Their lotus root salad consists of, of course, sliced lotus root, onions, vietnamese herbs, sliced vietnamese cha gio, carrots, jelly fish and shrimp (good portion of it too). Anyways, called in my order at 8:20pm for two bowls of Mi Quang. The lady has a very heavy accent so it was a bit hard for me to understand, but she was telling me that I need to come soon because they're closing soon. I checked the Yelp, and it said they closed at 9PM so it was a bit odd that she was rushing me, but I told her I'd be there in 10 min. Came in at 8:30pm and they were already starting to pack up their food and clean the restaurant. When I went to the front to pick up my order she just pointed my order out to me and said it'd be $15 (two large bowls of Mi Quang). They must've been really trying to get of there since I waited at the register to pay but she wasn't really budging from her cleaning so I just left the money there and said thanks. Anyways onto the food: Mi Quang - huge portion of noodles but veggies were old and turning brown. The broth was loaded with meat but tasted pretty watery and definitely lacked flavor. While I sit and wait for my bowl of deliciousness to come out; I go my normal routine and clean my pair of chopstick and spoon. While I clean my first set of chopstick; the sticky residue would not come off. I try for a second time and it still feels like the stickyness is still there. I decided to try another set and this one wasn't as bad as the other one. When my bowl of bun bo hue came out, the portion size is has big as "ngu binh" and the meat to noodles is on point. I used my chopsticks to stirred the noodle and realize that that my think vermicelli is breaking apart. It indicated that my vermicelli is old or overcooked. I would come back here but not as a regular. I do not dare to test out the broth because of probable of MSG and wod get me sick. So this place is basically a catering pick up spot with the option of eat inside if you like. This location offers a wide variety of "Hue" food, which consists of some of my all time favorites including Bun Bo Hue, Banh Beo, and Banh Cuon to name a few. The Bun Bo Hue - Very economical. For a 6 or so dollar bowl, you get a very generous amount of meat in a fairly large side bowl. In terms of flavor, I don't think it had the depth of flavor and spiciness as some other best Bun Bo Hue such as Ngu Binh's soup, but it's still good nonetheless. If I had to make a comparison, it reminded me of the Lunch Lady's soup in Vietnam. Light for bun bo hue standards, not overly oil or spicy, but still flavorful. In regards to the catering pick up, it's your typical Vietnamese food catering joint. They have a pretty extensive menu, so I suggest you grab a togo menu if you go here. I picked up food here 3 times. They did not disappoint in terms of the quality of the food, but if I did have to make a slight complaint, it would be about my food being ready on time. All 3 times I had to wait about 15-30 minutes even though I had requested the food to be ready at a certain time. If you ending up waiting, I suggest you go next door and pick up a sugar cane drink next door - it's bombdotcom. So if you don't feel like waiting at Ngu Binh to be seated, and want to try a more light, but meaty bun bo hue, try this place out. This is more of a 2.5 than a 3. The bun bo hue here is on the sweeter side. It didn't have enough of the spice and lemongrass taste to it. Banh Canh cua - also on the sweeter side. Not sure what they did with the udon noodles but it was sooooo oily. I wonder if they blanch it in oil water or something. It was dripping with oil when I got home. I HATE this place! They're so stupid! This is my second time here. The first time I went, I ordered Bun Bo Hue to go and they gave me the wrong noodles. I hate going to eat pho and there are only two slices on meat and then I'm forced to slurp noodles and soup for the rest of the time. Lien Hue does not skimp on the meats. Yay. Their spring rolls are pretty darn good as well as their egg rolls. Lets just say... everything is good and as authentic as it gets. It's essentially a Food To-Go place with tables. As we sat to eat our Mi Quang and Bun Bo Hue we noticed the brisk traffic of patrons picking up their large trays of catering items. What makes me feel good about eating their food is that I got to personally " inspect " the kitchen when I asked to used the restroom . It was located in the back and one had to walk through the busy and cramp kitchen to get there. At first I had some trepidation about using a publicly inaccessible toilet but I was pleasantly surprised to see ( and smell) how clean the bathroom was. To me , a well kept toilet reflects well on the general good hygiene of the whole place. The kitchen utensils , pots & pans, grills and food assembly area are well kept.
