On my visit, I tried the iced chai with a shot of espresso, and it was perfectly crafted. The chai tea, brewed in house, had a wonderful depth of flavor, and it was expertly balanced with the espresso shot. Often an espresso shot can overpower a chai, or get lost in it, but here it was neither too strong nor too faint just right. While Antigua Coffee might not be big on elaborate decor, it more than makes up for it with its extensive menu of coffee and tea options. All I had was the iced horchata coffee and it was delicious. The service was great and the ambiance of the place was mellow. Although there was a teacher training so a few teachers came in so it was a little bit more loud than I assume it usually is. The cashier that took my order was friendly and emphasized that they make all their ingredients from scratch and I believe home. My horchata coffee is delicious, and I can truly taste that they make their horchata from scratch. I interacted with the three people here for no more than two minutes each and each was enjoyable. I've been making my way through their wall of loose leaf house blends, today I think I had my favorite - their green jasmine is exceptionally good! I had it iced, but I bet it would be amazing hot, too. As far as food goes, I do wish they had more options for vegetarians, but their lone veg sandwich is spectacular. I've had it on both wheat and sourdough, both are winners. The dressing (chipotle mayo?) has the perfect kick to it, and normally I don't like green peppers, but whatever they've done to the pepper in this sandwich... I crave it. This is a local coffee shop that is very particular about their ingredients and even have their own coffee bean farms. The barista was very accommodating and very informed about all the items in the menu. He even showed the steeping process of a chai latte that I ordered. Their most popular items are their americanos but likely for good reason because of the quality of their coffee beans. Diamond in the rough! It's conveniently close with friendly staff and delicious food First of all, I bought their groupon deal (pay $14 for $28 worth of food) and was crazy excited to use it. It was surprising close to my home (by nightingale HS) and this place is a gemmmm. It was a hipster atmosphere and surprising clean compared to the other shops around this location hahahh My groupon was confusing (it was the 2 for 1 deal that needed to be used desperately) but the lady at the counter patiently solved my problem. My bf and I ordered their mayan chipotle sandwich, breakfast sandwich, mayan moch and organic horchata. It was ALL recommendations and it was delisious! We also bought a blueberry scone and lemon poppy muffing (my fav) which totaled our bill to be exactly $28! I'm extremely glad they didn't charge tax hahahh My bf's breakfast sandwich was AMAZINGG! This place is amazing! A big supporter of the art community, Antigua coffee serves some of the best coffee and sandwiches I ever had in a coffee shop. Service is always amazingly consistent. We have tried the lattes, mexican mocha, americano, and a few sandwiches (breakfast and BLT). I love coming here before visiting the Southwest Musuem or Lummis Home. The place's vibe makes me feel very artsy, I can pretend for a few hours. I love how the two staff here treats everybody the same. Me and the honey are sort of coffee snobs, and we really do not have anything negative to say about this place. I will be back to buy some coffee grounds for home.
