Stopped by Abbot's to grab a slice with my boyfriend when i read about their "bagel" crust. Got a slice of popeyes chicken pizza and my boyfriend tried a spicier chicken pizza. Both were large slices and came with their spicy mayo sauce- almost like creamy siracha. The inside was packed and they only have like 8 barstools so its a tight squeeze if your looking to dine-in. Would definitely recommend to take it to go. The pizza was good, although the crust was more like a sesame seed breadstick as opposed to a bagel, it wasn't soft but moreso a hard texture. This is a super tiny hole in the wall kind of pizza place. We went in with very low expectations and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. They have a great selection of pizzas by the slice, with both meat and veggie options. Seating is limited (2 short counters), but we found a couple of spots after a few minutes. Ordering is quick and easy. They then heat up your slices in the oven. My only complaint is that they heat it up a bit too much. The cheese comes out like molten lava. But it does put a nice crisp on the crust, so it works. Just takes awhile to cool down to an eatable temperature. I got a pepperoni and mushroom slice. The crust is super thin, so it's a bit hard to pick up. The cheese is really good. Overall flavor was fantastic. One slice was satisfying. I personally had a good experience with their slices. My boyfriend and I walked in around 3:30 and were able to get seats. I originally wanted a slice of their wild mushroom pizza but it was sold out and the wait told to me was 30 minutes. My boyfriend wanted to try the salad pizza but we were told it would take 15-20 min. We decided to wait for that one and started with a meat lovers slice and a Greek slice. I loooovee the Greek slice! The crust was crunchy and flavorful and I loved the feta cheese mix with the basil (?) and sun dried tomatoes. My boyfriend thought his meat lovers slice was mediocre and that he's had better elsewhere. When we finally were able to try the salad pizza, we were surprised with how good it was. The sour cream definitely gave it more flavor and we liked how light the pizza slice was in our stomachs. It was a good kind of light. Cool little hispster spot in Venice. Not too hard to find they face the street on Abbott Kinney blvd. most likely you will have some difficulty finding parking when it is busy. We came during the festival so it was even worse. Inside the store, pretty small pizza parlor that lays out the entire menu on the wall to the left and water and sauces are also displayed on the side tables. For the food, we were able to try the meat lovers and chicken BBQ. The pizza itself was a good wow moment so I'd give them some kudos for being able to make me believe that there was still a twist on pizza that you could make. Essentially everything would be the same from other pizza parlor except the size of a slice and the crust they use. It's some kind of bagel crust which is a bit tender to the bite but just as or if more crunchy. The flavors are pretty much the same but that crust difference was able to give me a wow it's some good pizza. Good job you guys for making me believe that there was more to pizza. Overall I'd give this place a 4.2/5 stars. Good food with good quality ingredients. Definitely a lot of people meaning the place is definitely booming. I get that they deserve a few increments to the full 5 stars bc the service was still a little messy in terms of customer service and the amount of space should be slightly extended. I enjoyed my pizza here the first time; I had a Popeyes chicken pizza slice and was impressed by the taste, texture and freshness. Also, even though a slice of pizza cost $5 , I felt that it was reasonably priced as my friends and I each got huge slices. I came back here, two days later, on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm with my husband - a pizza-lover. Sad to say, they ran out of Popeye's pizza and meat-lovers so he ordered a Pepperoni Pizza and I ordered a Mushroom Pizza. They both tasted run-of-the mill, although the texture was nice: crispy and yet substantial. What really made me unhappy though, wasn't the mediocre quality of the pizza, it was the service. My husband got a tiny slice of pepperoni pizza, compared to everyone's else's, his pizza slice was almost half the size of that of others in the shop. I suggested that he return his slice and ask for a bigger piece instead since everyone else's in the shop was much larger. Even the customer next to us nodded and said, "yeah, that's a pretty small slice of pizza." To our surprise and consternation, when my husband went back and asked for a bigger slice instead, the server said "no, some slices are larger than others, it just depends on how the pizza is sliced." So it's just luck of the draw whether or not you get a big slice??? That's ridiculous. Everyone knows that customers want consistency in the product, especially when it comes to food. If anything, the server should have apologized and given us a bigger slice immediately to make up for the inconsistency, without asking for the smaller size back. We've gotten better treatment than this at Popeye's chicken on La Brea - a fast-food store. If this is their policy, I wish them good luck in keeping a loyal customer base, as for us, we won't be back and certainly won't recommend it. read more

Abbot's hits the spot for all your classic pizza cravings, but there are a few caveats to this place. First, I would not recommend getting delivery from here. The timing is inconsistent and the product isn't quite as tasty. They have to use a really thick crust to stand up to their toppings, which gets a little cardboardy on the drive home. Much much more delicious in-store!! But if you dine in, keep in mind they have like 5 stools. It's not really a big deal seeing as you can walk to the beach or eat outside... just something to keep in mind if you're looking for a sit down spot. Overall I have mixed feelings about Abbott's. I'll definitely be back - probably many times - but I moved here from a city that is really known for its pizza and Abbott's would definitely never make it there. My favorite pizza place!!! I drive out to Venice Beach just for it. Sometimes it can be really busy so I suggest calling in if you're thinking of ordering a full pizza. They also sell pizza by the slice with really yummy and different toppings, but they have regular pepperoni and cheese if you like just the simple stuff. My favorite part is the crust (I usually get garlic) which is cool because you can choose the type. The place is pretty small so there isn't a lot of indoor seating, but there's a counter outside where you can stand and eat.
