Roast pork with chinese vegetable lunch special with pork fried rice and wonton soup.
    Andrei L.

I've ordered lunch specials from here a few times over the past year or so and have always been pretty satisfied. I read some of the reviews for this place and definitely agree that you can't compare this place to an authentic chinese restaurant of any sort. If you're rating this place it has to be compared to how it stacks up against other takeout places. I tend to think pretty favorably of most chinese takeout places because they're usually dirt cheap, give you a lot of food, and the quality of the food tends to beat the competition in its price range (fast food primarily). So a few notable things before getting to the food. I ordered a lunch special today around 3:30 and it was nice because their lunch special hours are between 11am-4:00pm. This was great because some places only offer lunch specials until 3-3:30. I also spoke with a gentleman when I ordered that provided friendly customer service and even called me sir. I appreciated that because customer service is a lost art these days. I ordered a roast pork with chinese vegetable lunch special with pork fried rice and wonton soup. Total came out to $6.52. I found the food to be really solid. The wonton soup was pretty tasty and the wontons themselves were pretty good. One thing I'm sensitive to when ordering chinese food that is stir-fried is the volume and consistency of the gravy in them. I hate it when there is a lot of thick gravy that overpowers the food and drowns out the rice and other stuff. I'm happy to say that the gravy wasn't overpowering in my food today and was just right. The vegetables weren't too soggy and the roast pork was not spectacular, but very solid. So I have to give out 4 stars for my experience. I live pretty close to this place so I hope it can hold its current designation as my go-to takeout place.

Solid takeout. Got the dragon and Phoenix today and it had a lot of shrimp and chicken. Would order again!

What a hidden unassuming GEM, right in the middle of Franklin Square! This restaurant is family…read moreowned/run and has been in business for about 2 years. The restaurant is smallish and can probably seat up to 18ppl. This is a unique Harbin restaurant (the Capital region of a Providence in Northeast China). This authentic cuisine is hard to find; even in Flushing, Queens! On their store awning, it states "We Make Real Chinese Food".... They ain't kidding!! Note: Closed on Tuesdays! We went for lunch on a Saturday, and the restaurant was full of Asian people. There was a steady flow of Asians the entire 2.5 hrs we were there! (Yes, we had a leisurely 2.5 hr lunch; catching up with friends from out of town. lol) Our menu (shared by 4 adults, 1 child): -- House Special Dumplings ($18/12pcs): we ordered these boiled. Tasty; especially with the chili sauce and vinegar. -- Sauteed Tofu Sheet w.Chili Peppers $18: traditional Northeast China dish. Good but would have been better with more chili peppers. We added chili oil for an extra kick. -- Double Cooked Pork w.Sweet & Sour Sauce $20: Excellent dish! Preparation is very unique! There was no actual sweet & sour "sauce" but rather, the sweet & sour condiments were cooked into the batter of the pork. Loved this dish! Get this! -- Mala Lamb Ribs $28: Another Excellent dish! The spicy and numbing Mala taste was obvious without being overly spicy. Great flavors, Great texture. Get this! -- Pork Fried Noodles $15: All noodles are hand-pulled on-site, with noodle chefs having over 20 years of experience. This dish was made with just ONE very long noodle! Served with a pair of scissors. lol Great texture, and soooo satisfying! Even better with some chili oil! This had limited protein but a good dish nonetheless. -- Northeastern Style Braised Pork Elbow $36: Excellent dish! Huge portion. Perfectly braised, fall-off-the bone deliciousness. It was slightly salty, so definitely eat this with some rice. Get this! -- Rice ($2/bowl): entrees do NOT come with rice, so order on the side. -- Condiments: on each table, there is a condiments tray consisting of chili oil, vinegar, soy sauce, and salt/pepper. Definitely try their chili oil and vinegar. This really enhanced the flavors of the food. But some of the dishes didn't need condiments at all, and were terrific as served. Customer service was so warm, welcoming and friendly! They are happy to answer any questions you may have, and offered great suggestions. So, if you've never had Harbin Cuisine before, peruse the 6 page menu and ask questions before ordering! Lots of great dishes on their menu! Parking: street parking is available (in front and on the side road). They do have a small parking lot in back but spots are limited since it's a shared lot. Looking forward to a return visit to explore their menu. What a treat!! Thanks to Y&Z for a wonderful 1st experience at your restaurant!

There is a certain taste to lzbns which is described as "xian", and this soup has it. The pork sauerkraut dumplings were also great, as a Northeastern Chinese (Harbin) restaurant, the dumplings were as chonky as I expected with great wrapper texture. They give free pickled veg (pickled with Sichuan peppercorns!) and watermelon as well. Staff was attentive, I came on a Sunday dinner 630pm, was quiet, mostly takeout orders. Wonderful restaurant, definitely eat in if you can for the freshest experience.

The wonton soup was decent......wontons were very good but the broth however was a bit bland. Roast pork fried rice was pretty good.....a little dry and skimpy on the pork but the flavor was more than adequate. Hot and sour soup was really tasty with a good bit of spice. Scallion bubble pancake was very light and tasty. The Emperor cabbage appetizer was probably my favorite meal item.....crispy cabbage tossed in a peanuty garlic sauce with honey. It was served cold (which usually I'm not a big fan of, but this was an exception) and had a great flavor. Pork belly appetizer tasted very good but it wasn't crispy (which would have made it so much better) and the buns they were served with didn't taste completely fresh. Dan Dan noodles with ground beef was excellent.... they're served spicy and you can simply request the level of heat you prefer to fit your taste buds. Soup dumplings were of decent size and quite juicy...... unfortunately they lacked some flavor. Mongolian beef dish was excellent as was the kung pao chicken. Overall it was a pretty good meal but there was some room for improvement. The staff was very nice and it did have quite a cool "old school American Chinese restaurant" vibe from yesteryear.

Luckily, there was only a short wait for our party of two at around 12pm...but I suspect the wait can be much longer later in the afternoon or during peak dinner times. Once your number is called, you go up some stairs to the eating/tabled area. There are tables and chairs for 2, 4 and more guests throughout the large space. The pace of the restaurant is very fast...as soon as you are seated, you are given tea and your waiter comes over right away to take any order you are ready to give. Its helpful to ask for a menu while you are waiting for a table so you know what to order when asked. We had some soup dumplings as well as a (large) soup. Everything was very good and out in about 15 minutes...very fast. The soup dumplings were great...but as expected are filled with piping hot broth so be careful when eating. They have some other appetizers and dishes available. There are also some drink options including cold teas, soft drinks and beer. Overall a great experience...despite visiting on a busy Saturday, we were in and out in about 40-45 minutes. Street parking can be tough in the area but there are a few garages around...one of the more reasonable options is the garage at the Skyview shops which currently charge about $6 for up to three (3) hours and is a short 5 minute walk away.
