A friend and I went here for the first time today. I had the haddock basket. It was delicious. The fish was moist and flaky and the batter was light and not greasy. My friend had the prime beef sandwich that had thinly sliced roast beef with onions and horseradish mayo. She liked it so much, she wants to come back on Thursday! This is definitely a bar and grill type of restaurant without the dankness one sometimes associates with the name. It's clean and open and our waitress Susie was wonderful. It's great for all ages and has a menu that ranges from hamburgers to char grilled oysters. I highly recommend this casual eatery and plan on returning soon. 1/2 price pizza during UFC PPV events. Also, I didn't detect any sours on the beer list, which is a good thing. Because sours shouldn't be a 'thing.' They're gross. You can have kefir and kombucha, then when you grow up, you can go out and have a nice beer. I think their chicken tenders need some work. read more

Last evening, we dined at Litchfield's. We were really blessed with our experience there. I had the lobster dinner special with an additional side of fried onion rings and Barbara had the fish and chips (fried haddock). The food was well prepared and the service was excellent. Horrible service and grossed out. We came in last night mid evening. The bartenders , seemed like there were plenty, ignored us, they were eating and socializing. We are Mainers and understand July is busy, this was laziness. I'm refusing to post the pic my boyfriend took of actual food on the dark haired girl's mouth, eating and serving don't mix. The bathrooms are better where we are camping. We went across the street for our after dinner drink and dessert to the Bitter End, amazing service and was twice as busy. My family and I had an amazing experience at this establishment on Saturday night. My mom and I have gone to this restaurant a few times by Saturday we had Bethany as our server and the experience was even better than ever. The food is is always amazing and the service is always excellent. However, Bethany was prompt with service and personable with communication. She kept us laughing and made sure the food was up to our standards! We will continue to come back to the restaurant whenever we come to our vacation home the only difference now...we will be asking for Bethany. read more

Stopped in for lunch with wife and kids. Ordered fried pickles for appetizer, they were ok. Haddock sandwich, loaded nachos, kids hot dog, and cheeseburger meal. Haddock sandwich was sub par with not enough tartar sauce. Loaded nachos we're not wonderful. My kids burger was cooked to what I would say rare. For a $60 bill I expected better. Went with hubby .. waited hour to get in , which was ok .. it was nice outside . I wish we were able to get a drink at the bar but with Covid it couldn't happen unless we were seated. We took the first available table which was outside under the tent. The tent was nice and warm and they had a guitarist/singer finishing up. I asked for a drink menu and there wasn't one so I ended up with just water. I can never think quickly enough and always like a drink menu to get some ideas. Ordered nachos which were really good. I just had a cup of clam chowder which was very good and my husband had a chicken finger plate and he said it wasn't bad. Service wasn't great it took a long time to find ketchup and get another soda for my husband but The wait staff was very friendly nonetheless.We decided to look at the dessert menu and when we asked the waitress we were told there wasn't one . She rambled off five or six items that they had. We ended up not getting dessert , again I can't think that quickly ..... I would rather have a menu to linger over I will go again but time my visit a little earlier . Everybody was very friendly and everyone was wearing their masks which was great! At here last night. We ate outside which was nice because it's a little quieter. Started with fried whole belly clams,they were very good, and buffalo wings,they were average and could have been fried a tad longer to crisp them up a little more. All the other stuff was great. My prime rib was good my wife enjoyed her burger and one daughter liked her buffalo Mac and cheese. The other daughter is a chicken tender kind of person,she said they were good and crispy along with the fries. The service was fine and not over bearing. Went here one night because everything else seemed to close at 9pm. The menu was pretty basic. I had the clam chowder and a lobster roll. The clam chowder was $4.99 a cup, it tasted good but not tasty. The lobster roll was good as well it came with fries or coleslaw for $20. The service was excellent, we were seated immediately and the food came out in good time. Maybe it was an off night, but the food was average. There wasnt anything that wowed me. read more

This restaurant was meh to say the least. I guess the thing that saves it is that they allow dogs on the medicore patio. Although, seriously, the patio could use some tlc. The service was SLOOOOOOW. We got seated and waited about 20 minutes to get our drinks taken. A member of our party had to chase down a staff member to remind them that we were even there. Food service was quick when we finally got to order. But the food was also, meh. Nothing really to write home about. The cheese cake was good but skimped on the strawberries. We ordered seconds on our drinks and waited, waited, waited. Our waitress asked how we were and we reminded her about our drinks in which she then told us that the keg ran out... Our waitress blamed everyone but herself in the chaos that was. "The bars lagging", "the kitchen screwed up", "the keg ran out"....blah blah blah. Been here at least 3 times.. great place to watch a football game or sporting event.. food is ok.. nothing cutting edge or new.. service was decent.. all in all slightly above average..would love to see this bar try some new food things think outside the box a bit.. We usually go up to Wells each year but haven't been up there the last 3 or 4 years for various reasons. This year we made it up and discovered a few changes, Litchfields being one of them. Seems like we remember it as betting a nice place to go have a quiet dinner, but not any more. It's now a "bar and grill" which should've been the first tip off that it was not the same place we remembered. We happened to be there on a Wednesday, we were seated right away which was good, asked if we preferred inside or outside. Looking through the windows outside I could see that they had a 'corn-hole' tournament out there so we choose to stay inside. In fact we were just in time for trivia night. The crowd was into it which made it very hard to have that "quiet dinner" we thought we were going to have. We had to almost yell to carry on a conversation. In fact the woman with her son at the next table was real annoyed of the excessive noise that they left as soon as they could. Food was ok, nothing great, my wife ordered the scallops with sweet potato fries. They don't offer the malba(sp?) sauce for the fries. In fact when my wife asked for it, our waitress had a real puzzled look on her face as if she had no idea if she even spoke English, then just simply replied "we don't have it" Over all for $25 for her meal, seems like she should've gotten a heck of a lot more than what looked like 6 quarter sized scallops and a small handful of sweet potato fries and a small cup of cole slaw. I ordered a steamed lobster, was a lot of work but it was decent and a good size. I also got a side of onion rings, they were very good. I believe they make their own which is good. Staff was friendly when they interacted with customers. We were actual seated by one of their service stations, was able to see how some of them were annoyed with a few of the customers they had to deal with and were talking about them with each other. Not sure if I'd go back here next trip up to Maine unless I'm looking for a place to just hang out and have drinks in a "happy hour" type of setting. But will def avoid if I'm looking for a place to enjoy a quiet relaxing dinner. Really wanted to give a 3rd star but was hard to justify given the overall experience we had. read more

It is unfortunate how bad the food. I live in Kennebunk and was looking forward to their opening. I thought they would have decent pub food that me and my family could enjoy; but they don't. I have eaten here twice and each time it has just been awful. The pizza sauce is not good. Frozen pizza is better than what they serve. The burger was gross. I'm so dissapointed that they couldn't serve "just okay" food. If you do want to go here, only order beer. read more

Besides being the sit-down restaurant that stays open the latest in Wells, it is probably the best food as well. I can honestly say that the best fish I've ever had was at Litchfield's: the Haddock. Their Haddock was amazing. My girlfriend informs me her seafood pasta was the best she's ever had. The atmosphere was comfortable and they had a live piano player playing. There were some good and bad points. While the chicken tenders were good, they tasted too much like fried fish. While I don't mind fish, the familiar fried clam taste is not something I wanted on my chicken. The fries were good. While I thought the cole slaw was normal, my husband thought it was soggy. The honey mustard is phenomenal! Now, my Caesar salad, on the other hand, was a very big disappointment. More than 1/2 of the romaine lettuce in my bowl was the core. In fact, large clumps of the yellow core was still in tact. As we all know, the core has a more bitter taste. They were all picked out and pushed to the side. I also had many center pieces and could count on one hand how many green pieces of lettuce were in the bowl. I felt like I had a bowl of scraps. They were all pieces I normally throw away at home. The croutons were cute. Cute, because they were so small that you couldn't taste them. They were about the size of plain M&M's. The dressing, or lack there of, was basic. I contemplated asking for more to mask the bitter lettuce, but I ended up resorting to taking some of my husband's honey mustard for that task along with adding some moisture to the chicken I paid extra for on the salad. While it was tasty, it was incredibly dry. Our waitress was nice. Needless to say, I'm not optimistic I would go back, but if they were the only restaurant open and we were in the area AND hungry, we might try, again, but I will stay clear of the salads. As a local in Maine, I will NOT drive specifically there to eat. read more

We enjoyed our time at Litchfield's. The beer was cold and the food was good. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon in the winter to watch the Pats game and the bar was big--plenty of seats for people to sit and watch. The bartender was also very friendly and gave us good conversation. We had nachos which were average, but the fried clams were very good. Onion rings were delicious as well. Tried to give this place a chance three times. Never again. Staff was anything but friendly . Children had hamburg and fries. Burger was overcooked, hard and dry as was the roll. The fries were so few it looked like what you maybe couldn't finish and asked to take back home with you. Chicken wings were not cooked enough and when we asked they be cooked more, we were told their fryer doesn't get any hotter ???? Really ?? . Clam basket had 11 clams , of which maybe 4 were whole, the rest pieces and again the fries didn't even cover the bottom of the basket. Had a Rubin sandwich that was burnt and dry. I have tried to like this place many times and I don't think I can anymore. The drinks are different depending on who is working, being ignored is normal here, starting to give up. The fried food is good, but because the service is slow things are often cold, which I don't mind (fried food is fried food) but my father hates anything cold. They have a nice fenced in area with tables and bean bag toss games. We enjoyed the mozzarella stix. I loved the lobster roll. The onion rings were thin and nicely battered.
