Litchfield's is one of the restaurants I frequent quite often, being a local and all. I've never once had a bad experience there that was caused by anything the staff could control (just a few rowdy and impolite out-of-towners). The food is great and reasonably priced. They offer quite a few events on different nights, such as karaoke and trivia. This is a place made for having fun and grabbing a bite rather than having a quiet meal. They're great for reunions and parties. They're very polite and if you visit enough, you start to form a great relationship with many of the people that work there. Under new ownership. Reopened about 2 months ago. Don't like the sign - glaringly too bright. Had dinner with wife last Wednesday at 5:30. Only customer in restaurant area. About 5 people at the bar - can hear the bar chatter and TV from the dining area. Hasn't changed too much inside - maybe new light fixtures - no piano bar anymore. Fresh paint. Menu had one strange entry - Ravioli with shrimp and sausage?? Service was good (only customer). Ordered seafood chowder. It is like Campbell vegetable soup with 2 tiny shrimp and maybe 2 tiny pieces of a fish. Very salty. Somewhat tasty - but not even close to being a chowder. They did warn it was "New York" style. Ordered scallop and haddock with mash potato. Warned that the "Country mash potato" had peelings in it. I think that the deep fry oil was old, dirty, under temperature and scallop and haddock were cooked too long. Both had a greasy, bitter taste. First time I ever left expensive scallops on my plate. Mash potato was not very good tasting - did not eat. Haddock was not white meat like I expected. Wife had fried clams and fries with coleslaw. Her slaw was room temperature - mine was OK? Clams were more breading than clam. She did not like them. Fries were excellent. Meal cost $52 total. We won't go back unless they promote that they have a new chef and menu. read more

I went there to sit at the Bar for a quick Burger and Beer , sat at bar on far side first seat I found open sat for about 10 min Bartender did not aknowledge me , Seat opened up closer took it then was served Bartender to my Beer order then I asked for Menu. Got beer immediatly that ws the only plus. Was ready to order Bartender walked by saw menu was down on Bar ignored and went to serve a new cutomer, I saw Bar was busy so Iwas patient ASSUMED I would be waited on firt chance , nope ignored , Bartender walked by 4 time turned Her head everytime to iggnore me. Not sure if it was a Manager or someone sent to help Bartender , but they waited on me only after I said I been waitnig 35 minutes yes I timed it. She rudely took my order it started as " YOU KNOW THE BARTENDER IS VERY BUSY" well all the Bartender needed to do was say I will be right with you never got an aknoledgement. But she did find time to chat it up with her regulars. So in closing will I go there again doubt it. Tried this restaurant while visiting my parents - They have a great outdoor area for relaxing. The location is more of a bar/pub environment then a full restaurant. The service was good. Food was good. I would like to go there for happy hour or to meet friends, not really a place to dine with my aging parents. read more

Not good to say the very least. The best thing I can say is the server had the best of intentions and was sweet serving us the inedible food. We were a large party and none of us had a good word to say. The pizza tastes frozen along with the fried app type thingys, its almost like they empty their freezer and drop it all in the fryer. WORST MEAL EVER! This was such an embarressment. I brought two clients for dinner and I'm so upset with the service and especially the food. The young waitress didn't have a clue. That was the first red flag. I tried to explain to her that I couldn't have bacon or ham on my salad. That was it. Just no bacon or ham. My clients ordered the broiled haddock and the roast chicken with a side of stuffing. As soon as the haddock was set in front of him I gasped. The piece of haddock was the size of a chicken tender. This was 17.00! We all looked at each other and we were not happy. The other plate had a piece of stuffing that was 2" x 2" and as rubbery as a ball. She was not happy at all. Then my salad looked at least salvagable until I put my fork in it and under the lettuce, I pulled out ham. I told the waitress I couldn't have ham and she said I hadn't told her that. The other patron showed her that the fish was a very small portion for 17.00. She said she was sorry and couldn't do anything about it. I told her that I lived here in town and was treating two clients to dinner and this is what represents Wells as a restaurant. She walked away and came back and asked "Are you friends with the owners?". We were so done with this meal. I couldn't believe it. Then some bald headed man walks up to the table and obviosly hasn't been in the restaurant business long at all. He said we tried to help you but you didn't want us to do anything. I asked him what he was going to do to try to make this situation any better. He said he couldn't do anything and kept talking. It was such a bad experience. Please do not bring even family here. Got the nachos and they were terrible. There was no chili or hardly any cheese on them. When they did bring the chili, it was nasty. Tasted like canned chili. The waitress had a personality of an ant and was slow. The clam chowder was like warm and the tarter sauce is weird. Won't be going again. read more

Please folks, give it another chance. A few weeks ago, when we heard that Litchfields was again UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, we decided to give it another try. We had tried it after the big renovation that turned it from a nice family restaurant into a sports bar/pizza pub/arcade/WTF a year and 1/2 ago. The people who have now taken it over have decided to go with the sports pub/family restaurant scene and it works. The bar is very large and the bartenders and waitstaff are extremely attentive and friendly. The pub food is solid...good nachos and sandwiches and very good, reasonably priced drinks. We have been twice, sitting at the bar to watch Bruins games (sniff..sniff go Bruins 2013). Both times, our service was excellent and super-friendly. The billboard sign at the entrance says that the owners were voted as making the best burgers in New England. They really were excellent. Weirdly, I tried the bacon/peanut butter burger (it sounds awful) and it was really awesome. We will be back, particularly when the summer crowd makes the thought of driving Route 1 south unbearable. read more

Food excellent, service better. We were an adult family of 4 from out of town looking for the NFL ticket. We came in at 4:00 and all staff accommodating, Wonderful. We are fans of different teams and was able to watch almost all 4:00 games. Food was excellent, must try chargrilled oysters, fried clams and clam chowder. Food was pretty good. Fries were seemingly homemade. I enjoyed my meal, and so did my gf. It was VERY noisy at one point inside though, so keep that in mind if you're trying to have a dinner and conversation with friends. Good food and decent service though! read more

Pretty terrible experience here. It all started when we walked in for a late bite and some guy yelled a disgusting profanity from the bar. We sat down and ordered fried fish plates, steak tips and prime rib, which you apparently can only order medium. I'm honestly shocked we didn't get sick from the steak plates, as they were absolutely disgusting. Fried fish plates were okay. When we were leaving, we noticed a lot of intoxicated bikers at the bar and outside. Strange place, but maybe a bad night. read more

We stopped here a few weeks ago in July while visiting the area. Food was good, a little pricey. Waitstaff seemed more interested in hanging out with each other than keeping an eye on tables. It wasn't busy inside so maybe that was why. We will return. There were some locals there which is always a good sign. read more

Superb! New owners here...The other reviews are from the previous place (new owners kept the same name). We tried it again for old times sake and it was well worth the trip! Family owned business now and they are on site all the time and really have put their heart and soul into this place and you can tell. We had the peanut butter burger (yes, peanut butter) and it was FANTASTIC! yummm..My shrimp I ordered was fresh and crunchy, right off the boat taste. I also had a martini that was to die for. My hubby had a beer and this was the most difficult decision as there were more choices on tap then we have EVER seen before. You gotta try the NEW Litchfields, you can't go wrong. read more

Has quite a few beers on tap but the food has to be the worst. Pretty stock all around. The house made blue cheese made me wanna blow cheese. There really is no feeling of satisfaction from their cooking. Almost like there is no love. The bar area is cramped and small. HORRIBLE! That is all I can say. Great waitstaff and HORRIBLE food. What a waste of my hard earned money

If there were the option of giving negative 5 stars, it would still fail to sum up how horrible the service was at this place. First, we were seated next to a very loud group who they refused to ask to keep their noise down. Instead, our options were to either relocate and sit at a high-top, which was not a good option with two small children, or to sit at another booth directly in front of the live entertainment. Second, we waited 30 minutes for our food, after the soup and bread was brought to the table. Not once during this wait, did the waitress come by to update us or to refill our drinks, which at this point were empty. When our food was served, most of it was room temperature, except the broccoli, which burned our tongues when we bit into it. The food, speaking of, was best fit for animals who lacked taste-buds. Also, the light at our table was not working and ants...yes, ANTS were parading our booth as we ate. When we told the manager this she was defensive and had a excuse for everything we said. Not once did she apologize. Instead, she insisted that she was not going to argue with us, but continued to argue with us the entire time infront of other guests. When I told her I would not be tipping, because a tip is an acknowledgement of good service, she just rolled her eyes and swiped my card in anger. DO NOT spend your hard-earned money at this arm-pit excuse of a restaurant! We went out at 5:00 last night for supper and we were being served by Alex. We ordered two Prime ribs and asked for dinner rolls and about fifteen minutes went by and we still didn't have our rolls and then Alex came to tell us that they don't have anymore Prime Rib?? WTF. It's 5:00 and there's no Prime Rib..... so we were running out of time and patience so we ordered the Margherita Pizza ($10.99) and when it came out we didn't really think it would be a personal size pizza! The pizza had delicious fresh tomatoes on it but lacking cheese and sauce. We tried to tell Alex this and to get refills and he never came by to check on the food and we needed refills but no Alex so no refills. He only had three tables so I'm not sure why he neglected to check back with us but we wanted to end this nightmare as soon as possible so when he came by with the bill I asked him hey why he didn't come by to see if we needed anything. His reply was " I thought you were all set" . Thanks Alex and Littlefield's for a terrible dining experience.
