Cool unassuming shop, very tasty pizza. Living in California, there are definitely times that I am craving different styles of pizza. The one that I am most interested in is the Detroit style pizza. It has the best bread, and crust in my opinion. While looking for a solid Detroit style in Culver City, we found this spot. If you check out their menu, all of the pizzas look amazing, but we were laser focused on the Death Breath. It was so good, we made the right choice. Pepperonis and Italian sausage is our normal go-to, but what we were slightly worried about the whole roasted garlic cloves. But the way they are cooked, they are soft and delicious and not overly garlicky when you bite into them. I still wouldn't go for this pizza if you have to talk in close quarters with coworkers, but for a dinner with the family, it was delicious. We ordered to-go, and they had it ready right on time, and the workers were very nice and got us out the door quick. My husband and I had heard about this newly opened pizza place not far from us, and decided to check it out one weekend. We placed an order early, around 5 pm on a Saturday night, and waited about 15 minutes for our pizza. The ambiance here is very casual, with a few counter seats inside. There is no outdoor seating. There are a few parking spots behind the pizzeria, but there is also a lot of street parking available nearby, as it's around the corner from a residential area. Staff were friendly. We ordered the death breath and the little stinkies (garlic knots). Both the pizza and the garlic knots were very good. The pizza here has a thicker base, so I felt very full just eating two pieces. You can easily feed two people and have leftovers with one pizza from here. The pizza here is Detroit-style, which has become very popular in LA as of late. Since our original visit, we've been here one more time. It's become one of our go-to spots. Would highly recommend if you're in the mood for Detroit-style pizza on the west side. read more

Sigh, I am so disappointed. You have no idea how badly I wanted to crown this place the King of Detroit Pizzas in LA County. Back in the Covid days, I would go to Bootleg 1-2 times a week, despite it being a 3 hour round trip. And, back then, Detroit Pizzas were still a relative novelty, especially ones with this level of fermentation and dough preparation. It was the holy grail. Finally, nearly 3 years later, despite my advancing age and declining strength, I finally mustered the courage to do it again. I am pretty heart broken. I'm not sure what has happened--whether my palate has matured due to all the healthy competition from newer entrants since then, or whether the quality has subsided. The crust of a great LA style Detroit Pizza should be light and airy accompanied by a great chew, sourdough kick, and crispy bottom. I ordered three pizzas, and none of them had those traits. The crusts of my pizzas were incredibly dense. A comparison of the crumb shots to my previous pics years ago confirms this as well. The crusts were also a bit dry. I recall the crust of Bootleg to be better hydrated and better lubricated--these crusts were dry on the bottom. Lastly, there were barely any hints of sourdough, I had to really be searching for that taste profile. As far as the pizzas, I ordered the Death Breath, Sick One, and the Pep'd Up. I am glad they are expanding their menu, but I think they should stick to the tried and true original trio. I didn't find the new offerings added much. The "Sick One" was particularly disappointing--the ranch dust got in the way. The Death Breath was ok, but the Pep'd Up was the best of the three. I also ordered both the regular Panzookie as well as the Halloween Edition Spookie Cookie. These were fine. For my tastes, I thought these were better than BJ's. Pricing is pretty cheap. I'm pretty desensitized to LA Style Detroit Pizza pricing by now. I figure most of the $$ goes to labor/dough prep. They can only sell so many pizzas in one day, so the price of each pizza has to go up accordingly. Unfortunately, since it's a 3 hour roundtrip, it is very unlikely I will be back. The pizzas I had cannot even stand up to local offerings such as Pie Trap Pizza. Quarter Sheets firmly remains the undisputed King in my book. Sigh, I am so sad. Not a lot to add since I still consider this place as one of my favorite pizza places in the city, especially for pan pizza. Most recently, a few friends and I put in an order for three pizzas to feed a bunch of folks during a front lawn beer share. One of the pizzas we ordered was a special at the time or the cheeseburger pizza (Massive Rip). I have to believe that this pizza was In-N-Out inspired because it really did taste like an In-N-Out burger with fries. Delicious. The ordering process was easy enough. Since adding the round pie, this may be top 2 New York style in LA. The sauce is outrageous, honestly the best balanced, tangy sauce I've ever had across New York. Chicago, LA or SF. It's so good I just keep it simple and get cheese every time. Although from the website you can see they get really creative with monthly specials . What really irritated me, though, was the prepackaged dressing for the Caesar salad. The point of going to a restaurant is to get something made from scratch. I live literally a block away from here and only have tried this spot for the first time just last week. Being born and raised in LA, I really never tried Detroit style pizza. Been to Detroit a couple of times but I haven't got to experience the sourdough and crisp edge masterpiece until now. Little Dynamite Pizza has crazy names for their pizzas like "The Mom", "The Dad", "Death Breath", and other random names. But the one that grabbed my attention and had to try was "The Dad". Honestly, it was good. Definitely not used to the sourdough crust. Very pillow-y with an extra crispy edge. I loved the Italian sausage and green bell pepper toppings with a shaving of parm on top. The texture was quite chewy. I don't tend to like chewy pizzas but in this case the chewyness and the crisp edge of the pizza worked well together texturally. Chewy pizza with crispy bits is my jam. The ambiance is very pizza kitchen-like. There are stools to sit on and enjoy your pizza over a counter and there are also tables outside the shop but the aesthetic screams take out. The service was okay. Friendly staff and really nice people but I haven't been here enough to analyze their customer service trend. Pizza by the slice is usually $8-$9 here. I think it's reasonably priced due to todays standards. If you order a sheet, it will run anywhere between $25- $35, give or take. Since I live super close, I will be definitely coming back here to try the other varieties. read more

Been a long-time fan of Little Dynamite when they went by a different name (Bootleg Pizza) and were in their food truck at different locations. Those were the days! Now that they're open again in a brick-and-mortar restaurant, I had to stop by and get my favourite and try something new! They're open Wednesday thru Sunday, with - 12-3 p.m.: For slices & pies. - 3-8 p.m. For pies (whole pizzas) only. What's so special? They sell thick sourdough crust pan pizzas, with the whole pan pizzas contianing 6 pretty big slices that very easily serves 2 people for two days for sure! It's filling! Here's what I got - they were whole pizzas that are 10x10" and about 1.5-2" thick: - Hot Jimmy: Whole milk mozzarella, ricotta, hot Italian sausage, roasted whole garlic, black pepper, parm, hot honey. $28. This is one of two absolutely flavours I love from them (the other one being Veg'd out that is not a menu option under the re-brand, but hope it comes back). I have a bottle of hot honey at home that I squeeze on to the slices because it was worth it (and there's not enough hot honey on the slice - but I like it extra like that, so again not a reason for a star reduction as part of this review). Get this - sooooo delicious! - Sick One: Mozzerlla, provolone, parm ranch dust, pepperoni. US$28. My partner liked this, but it was a little heavy and oil-y for me - probably because of the pepperoni (same reason why I didn't like the Pizza Knots), but it was pretty flavourful enough that I scarfed down an entire slice. I wasn't a massive fan of this as it left me feeling a little oily (just personal preference, so no reason to deduct any stars here). - Stinky Uglies (Garlic Knots): 4 decently sized garlic parmesan knots served with crushed tomato sauce. $6 For me, this wasn't garlic-y enough, but I love bread anything, so I devoured this with some extra garlic-olive oil mix on the side that I made myself. Congrats to Little Dynamite (formerly Bootleg Pizza) on the new brick 'n mortar! I'm thrilled to find the pizza is as good as ever. Maybe slightly less dense than previous versions? Nevertheless as tasty as when they had the former shop on Pico or the old truck they used to operate out of. The style of pizza is what the pizza maker recalls from his New Jersey days, it's similar to a Detroit style pie, pan baked with a thick and chewy dough and crispy edges. I don't recall ever having pizza in NJ, but I've been to Buddy's in Detroit. This is definitely one of the best of its kind in LA. My fave is the Pep'd Up, with crushed tomato sauce, mozzarella, a ton of pepperoni and parmesan plus basil. The Hot Jimmy is back, along with a tomato and the Cheese Louise pies. Eventually they'll have a few more items like a salad and maybe the garlic knots. Congrats again to the owners and lucky for us that Little Dynamite is now open! read more

They sell whole pan pizzas (6 slices) that easily serve 2 people, with slices available from 12pm to 3pm. I tried the Cheese Louise and got a slice of their special pizza of the day. The dough is super fluffy (I wish my pillow was this soft) with a nice tart tomato sauce. The special had hot Italian sausage, roasted tomatoes and ricotta - my only gripe was that it was a little light on the toppings. Next time I would probably try the pepperoni, which seems to have a better ratio of toppings to crust. The pizza was deceptively light and I scarfed down 3-1/2 pieces before I realized that I was quite full. Oops. Tip: Definitely place your online order for a whole pizza in advance, so you don't get disappointed by finding out they're sold out for the day! Free street parking out front. read more

Been eating Little Dynamite since it was bootleg pizza. When bootleg shutdown I was scared this pizza was gone forever. When they reopened as Little Dynamite I made sure I was the first customer on the first day of reopening. I'm sure they had a soft opening but on the first day of their actual opening I got there about 30 min ahead of time and waited in my car until right before opening, wanted to ensure I got the first pizza. I have not tried their round pies but their Detroit style is a thing of beauty. Crispy bottom, soft a pillowy, great sauce to cheese ratio. A thing of absolute beauty. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant that's easy to miss. The pizzas are deceiving, they're a lot bigger than the pictures show. 1 is enough for 2 people since it's deep dish. We got 2 different pizzas. Both were delicious. The crust is crispy on the edges and soft and fluffy in the middle. The pizza sauces are good and toppings are fresh. We got to try the tomato sauce and a white sauce on our pizzas. Overall, good deep dish pizza. I do wish there was more sauce as it was really spotty and lacking in some areas. Pricing is a bit on the high side. Almost $30 per pie and some over $30. I'd give it a try if you're ever in the area. read more

A decent selection of Detroit style pies and some other options. Small joint, that you'd expect to have a bigger bang but the pie itself was less than. It's a bit discouraging when you spend while over twenty (plus +) dollars on a take out pizza joint and find yourself with burnt crust. May have been a one time thing, but you'd think they'd at least check the crust before boxing it. Service was efficient. The char and chewiness of the meat, sweetness of the sauce and doughy but crunchy pizza texture. This is the standard! Kale and bacon (special) - Trust me! Just order it! Pro tip: get their honey and ranch. The ranch is dill forward - which I normally don't like but they did it right. It's more on the artichoke dip taste than too much dill. The owners and staff were super nice. Felt like family going in and you can tell they care about their product. You can literally taste the love. They also sell slices at certain time of the day. Also, you can preorder on their website. I got the tomato pie pizza with added kale pianos and sausage. It always hits the spot. The pizza dough is chewy yet crunchy at the same time. There is a strong tomato sauce taste which I love! It's a 10inch pizza so it is smaller than traditional pizzas. However, it is pretty filling. Garlic knots is great. It actually has real garlic taste with cheese on top. One order comes with 6. Service is so friendly. I ordered to go and decided to eat outside w my dog.
