Not so hidden gem! Was craving sushi and wanted to try this place since we always pass it on our way to Costco and Target. Their Crunchy Asparagus Roll is a winner - love that crispy asparagus. The White Lion roll is also fantastic - fresh fish and avocado with a tasty sauce. And the Tempura Udon? So comforting, especially on a cold day. The vibe is nice and cozy, perfect for a casual meal. Prices are fair and they have tv's so if you want to watch some sports you can! Overall give them a try if you're in the area!

    Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box

I've visited this location a handful of times throughout the years but my last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I ordered the teriyaki beef bento box and about half of the beef was raw, the other half was reddish pink which seemed okay to eat. (Was not able to take a photo before sending the food back) I showed the waitress the beef and she agreed it looked raw. They made another portion of beef as a replacement which wasn't as red as the first one. I ended up just boxing everything up to go. My boyfriend ordered a chicken katsu bento box and he enjoyed his meal. Everything was cooked well and had great flavor. I've been to this place before and have had great service, it was just this last time that wasn't too great. The beef didn't look cooked all the way in my opinion, but that may be how other people like to eat it. I may go back to try this place again in the future and my rating may change next time.

Special Bento (3-piece nigiri not shown) and lion king roll

Dropped by for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The four of us shared the special bento box which includes beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, tempura, gyoza, nigiri, soup, and salad. We also ordered a lion king roll and a California roll. All the dishes were well-prepared - flavorful and tender. Service was friendly and on point, and the dining room was clean and tidy as well, with the college football final conveniently on TV for us to glance at. From the 3-star review I was not expecting to like it so much, so wanted to add my 2 cents and tell y'all to give it a try!

When Hubby and I was in the area the weekend prior we were so conflicted on where we wanted to eat. So we decided that since we were there we would eat at a different restaurant and than the next weekend (since we forgot our item that needed to be return to the stores) that we would come back and eat at Little Madfish. We were craving sushi and again it's so hard to find a good sushi place for us that we both enjoy. Once we got in we were seated. Our waiter saw how small our table was and he offered a bigger table that just opened up. We liked that there are soo many different varieties to choose from for the sushi rolls. We got the chicken teriyaki bento box, Blazing Lion King, Lion King, Mango Lobster Roll, and a few other rolls that I cannot remember (since I'm writing this review about a few weeks later lol). Everything was so delicious! I believe our least favorite is the Blazing Lion King, only because we could sort of taste the liquid that was used to make the Blazing Lion King flame up. We really enjoyed it here and will definitely add this to our favorite sushi spots.

Everyone was really nice. Food came out in good time. Everything tasted great. My youngest (7) who wanted to try sushi and this location was very happy with it all. That is very rare! We will return to Little Mad Fish. Thanks to staff for making our family dinning out night great.

Good sushi! The staff here is really friendly. The portions are really good for the price, I love getting the bento boxes! They offer a ton of different rolls so there's definitely something for everyone!

    Pork Tonkotsu Ramen

Couldn't decide whether to give a 3 or 4 because, although the food is average, the price for the proportions was great. All the food included in the images PLUS a salmon teriyaki bento box added up to about $70, which is cheap compared to many other sushi and ramen spots. Taste wise, I really wasn't the biggest fan of their Pork tonkotsu ramen. Meat was super dry and noodles were quite bland. The broth was very average. Sushi rolls were decent. I actually like their spicy tuna as it has a nice kick. However, the orange blossom and golden gate roll were very very similar which we didn't expect. I think the reasonable prices can be attributed to the 20% off deals offered during their happy hour. So, if you want to have decent food that's good for the price, come here during their happy hour (see menu image below). Otherwise, there are much better sushi and ramen places to try. Service is great! Waiters and waitresses care to check up on customers and are friendly. Parking shouldn't be a problem as there's quite a large parking lot in the plaza.

Great sushi but service could be better. My party of 3 decided to go to the boba shop next door since we had four parties ahead of us and didn't want to wait in the cold. When you add yourself to the waitlist they ask for your phone number, so we thought they would text us when our table was ready. Wrong. They did not text us, and then after waiting what we felt was too long we went to check and our name had already been crossed off the list. So make sure you sit around and listen for your name. Food: the rolls were delicious. My favorite was the baked scallop roll which was more of a bake than a roll. The sweet potato roll was surprisingly delicious and didn't expect sweet potatoes to go to well on sushi.

    hamachi handroll + salmon maki

Came here for lunch with my mom today at around 1:30pm, had an overall really positive experience! I'm actually pretty surprised that its overall rating is a 3 star. Our order: - hot tea for both of us (25 cents each) - for me, a salmon maki roll + a hamachi handroll - for mom (and to share with me): the bento box with CA roll, 3 pc sashimi, 3 pc nigiri, tempura. Comes with miso soup and salad. Total price $35.16 prior to tip Pros: - Pretty fast service, didn't take too long to get seated (granted it's a weekday late lunch) - Pretty decent service, kept our teas refilled - Decent vibes - music wasn't too loud but enough to cover the next table over's conversation, loved the early 2000's music - Pretty decent food!! Loved my hamachi handroll, and my mom's nigiri was pretty delicious. I felt like the portions were pretty decent for her $15 meal - Easy parking in the lot with multiple businesses nearby (Starbs, iTea, etc.) - Pretty extensive menu, something for everyone if you don't like raw fish, a very wide variety of rolls. I used to not really be a maki/nigiri person and would only get sashimi and rolls, and honestly all of them are a pretty good deal. - Very fresh salmon in the maki - Very tasty tea - Bathroom was fairly clean Cons: - None really, overall I felt like it was good bang for your buck if you order the right stuff. I would say the only con is from observing today, it would probably be a little harder to accommodate a larger party - probably the best size would be 1-4 people max.

I'm giving this 5 star for excellent service and reasonable pricing. The establishment is open and clean. They have specials. Today I tried the fish on chips. I didn't know what to expect but it was so good. A great fusion. Flavorful and creative. I really enjoyed the combination of salty and spicy. This is a great dish for a diverse area like Fremont. I highly recommend this place. I think it's underrated.

Crunch California Roll and Spicy Garlic Salmon
    Karishma G.

I wanted to try a new sushi place and saw their menu was quite unique. I ordered their Crunch California Roll and Spicy Garlic Salmon. Both were not to my liking. The California roll was not crunchy or spicy. It tasted sweet, which was disgusting. The garlic salmon tasted like a California roll with ketchup. Nothing spicy or garlicky about it. This place was a disappointment.

I visited with a few friends on the weekend, and the wait time was ~ 20 minutes. It's fairly small inside, so that's fair. Once sat, I made a dash for the complimentary cream soup, which is a childhood vice of mine. Unfortunately, I was left scraping the sides of the metal pot for remnants until they brought out the new pot. I was two bowls in, but I had only caved to hunger and an addiction to be snacking on something. The soup was a bit bland and sour, almost like airplane food. :/ There were also complimentary tea, but these were easy to pass on. For our meal, we had a pork steak and egg, which came with garlic toast and also a beef teppanyaki. The pork steak was way overcooked and tough, not the most fun dish to be chewing on. The beef itself was heavily marinated and way too sweet and salty to enjoy. Overall, eating here felt like a chore, and the best part was... finishing dinner since we didn't want to waste food.

This was my first experience with SOHO MJ and while I didn't exactly know what to expect, I left quite impressed. [[someone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong]] While there is a signature menu and brunch menu listed on the website, none of the items were able to be ordered ala carte during our visit. On the list of 11 offerings, here is what we actually tried: *SMOKE & HI *PINK SUNSET *SOHO 75 *TOKYO MULE *PEACH RICKEY *BLUSHING BAE All were great in their own way and there wasn't a single disappointment for our entire group. Food presentation was A1 and although the bites were extremely small [[ i openly admit that i am a BIG BIG eater, with quite an appetite]] everything was so good. A few personal highlights were the temaki, abalone steamed egg custard, and the assortment of nigiri. I must say, dessert was trash. The lemon vanilla custard had no lemon flavoring to it- no citrus of any kind. This was the only thing that wasn't consumed. All in all, 5 stars. The interior is beautiful, very Japanese-inspired with a clean mix of modern and rustic design elements. We skipped the appetizers and were unfortunately told they were already out of Uni, meaning the Matsu bowl wasn't available. We both opted for the Take bowl instead. One major downside for me was the pricing. The bowls are already quite steep, so discovering that you have to pay an additional $4.50 just for the dashi broth felt a bit off-putting. Because of that, we chose to skip the broth altogether. As for the food, the bowl itself was flavorful and the portion size was decent. However, given the price and the massive reputation, it didn't quite meet my expectations and felt a bit underwhelming. I don't think I would return to this location, but it did make me want to travel to Japan to try the original version!
