Box all the food came packed in
    Kevin A.

Visiting from out of town for my son's 5th bday and Father's Day and found this place from Eater's list of best food in Phoenix and it didn't disappoint. Also found out later that it made "Texas Monthly's Best BBQ outside Texas" list. Once I found out they were doing preorders for FD, I knew what our meal for the day was going to be. Ended up ordering 3 different types of BBQ for our group of 7; brisket, beef ribs, and pork ribs. Each one was delicious! Brisket included cuts from both the flat and point which delicious without sauce. Personally, good brisket doesn't need sauce. Beef Dino ribs were super good too! Pork ribs came sauced perfectly and were perfect amount of tender. First place I've been to that did all types of BBQ that well. We ended up doing a pick up order and it couldn't have been easier. They had a long line for dine in but had a separate spot for preorders which was super easy. We showed up a little bit earlier than our scheduled pick up time but once our order was ready everything came packed perfectly in a box. If you're looking for good BBQ in Phoenix this place is a must!

This place came highly recommended, so we decided to check it out. My partner and I did the two meat platter - I chose pork belly burnt ends and chopped brisket and double grits (you get choice of two sides.) My partner got the jalapeño cheddar sausage, sliced brisket and added the other sausage and double mac-and-cheese. We shared our plates with each other and we both agreed that the sliced brisket was the best - it was so delicious; melted in your mouth like butter, the fatty part was so good. The worst thing we had was the pork belly burnt ends- it was super tough, and we skipped on them. The grits were good and the mac-and-cheese was heavenly. Also, the service was really great! Overall, it was a good place to eat at. It definitely doesn't beat Oklahoma or Texas barbecue, but it was nice to check out.

Never heard of this place until a recent mainstream media report they were voted by a rush of Yelp app users rating them number one. So, we made a specific trip to dine here. It's all good, but not the best by any means. If I ever find myself in that area again I'd go back, but it's not good enough to go out of the way. Had the two meat platter with pork short ribs and sliced brisket with beans and potato salad as sides. The potato salad was average, nothing special, but good enough. Same for the beans; yes, there was meat in it, but not much of it. The pork rib was good, tender enough. Now, the sliced brisket was VERY good. Nicely smoked/cooked, very tender. You have a choice of three sauces all in plastic squeeze bottles at your table. I tried them all [spicy, house (sweet) and mustard]. All three were as good as you would get anywhere else. It's counter service only and they have ample inside and outside seating. Plenty of parking.

If you see a long line, don't let that scare you away from this place. We waited about an hour and honestly felt like it was worth it. While we were waiting, someone even came around with samples, which definitely made the line more manageable. When we finally ordered, we got the two-meat plate with ribs and brisket, plus a side of the house sausage. I'd highly recommend adding the sausage, it ended up being my favorite out of everything we tried. There's also ample seating (both indoor and outdoor). Overall, I'd definitely come back again if I were visiting the area.

This is still one of the best bbq I've had west of Texas. They deserve a Michelin Star. The brisket bark is amazing, the meat is perfectly marbled, but not overly fatty, and the seasoning makes the meat so flavorful. The pulled pork is also among the best ever. It's tender, juicy, and has deep seasoned smoky flavor.

This place is The Pits, but in the best way possible. We took home a quart each of beans plus mac and cheese. Kraft is Not the cheesiest. My loyal Food Patrol of regular observers know we spent some days in Sunnyslope tending to family business. Little Miss BBQ was a refueling stop. The last time we stopped in for a meal there was no meal. The goods were gone, eaten by an eager, hungry, horde. March 31, 2026 at 3 p.m. They were open, fully stocked. 1962 was the year my Dad was sent to Oklahoma to teach Air Forces from across the globe how to keep the engines of their nuke-tipped Intercontinental Ballistic Missles prepped and ready in case Boom Moment arrived. We lived to the south in Vernon, Texas where I learned the culinary tradition of Moon Pies and RC Cola, or Dr. Pepper. I also had my first meal of Texas Bar B Que. That set my taste for BBQ Brisket and BBQ beans; sweet, smoky and tender. I've since dined in Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Abilene and Merkel. We hit Mr. B's fabulously delicious BBQ near Harper's Ferry, VA. Another year we went on to BBQ in St Louis; Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Memphis, Tennesee. Locally, Bobby Q, My Mother's, TexAz and others I cannot remember. A BBQ universe of flavor, texture, and squirt-on supplemental sauces. BBQ is a very personal pitmaster production, with very personal diner's tastes. The BBQ firing squad has me against a wall, asking me if I want a smoked rib before I die for not writing much about Little Miss BBQ. I'll take the BBQ shack between Merkel and Blair, Texas. I kept going back by myself, yhen with groups of people, always returning in my memory List of BBQ Favorites. That Hole on the Plains and the town of my BBQ initiation, Vernon. Little Miss BBQ is a very cool place. It is worth a visit for the architecture alone. The pits are out the window as you enter the doors and hook a left to the BBQ ride crowd control railing. Menu is on the wall, on at least two spots. The northwest corner has a takeout counter. We ordered brisket sandwich and beans. The brisket was further flavored choosing one or more of the three sauces: sweet hot ish BBQ, sweet mustard sauce and one more flavor. My top taste of the meal was prickly pear lemonade. Going back for a refill I found 2/3 lemonade and 1/3 prickly pear made my perfect BBQ beverage. The peppery beans with another serving of pulled meat mixed in improved on my palate with sweet sauce added. The mustard sauce was recommended for our sandwich. It was a good addition. Will the family return here to dine? I'll write another review when we come back.

West Texas BBQ. Good. Pricey. Quality cuts. Oh mmmmmmmy. I had smoked turkey and a pork rib. Spouse had the brisket. Sides were jalapeño and cheese grits, cole slaw and BBQ pork beans. Grits was too cheesy and rich for me. The rest, 10/10. Not cheap but worth every calorie and dime.

This place is THE go to for BBQ. Brisket is extremely tender with the perfect amount of smoke evident from the smoke ring. The cheddar sausages are has the right snap from the casing with the cheddar cheese just oozing out. Staff is always super friendly and restaurant immaculately clean. I always recommend LMB as the best in Phoenix anywhere west of Texas.

3 beef ribs and 2 lbs of fatty beef. 220$ wild huh.

Food is excellent. Service was great very welcoming and generous with answering and accommodating all our needs. Ambiance is relaxing and comfortable. Also 250 with one beer and fountain drinks. You decide :)

The sausage with two sides ( jalapeño cheddar grit and cole slaw). Pulled pork with yummy beans and creamy mac and cheese.

Wonderful food choices. Friendly staff. Nice open area for seating. Would recommend! Very popular place. Their Mission statement is to be the best part of people's day. And they are!

This review is after a Saturday afternoon visit. The wait time to order wasn't too long. The line was about halfway to the door. The service was good. Friendly employees while ordering as well as employees checking in while dining in. The sliced brisket wasn't super flavorful nor was it warm. The chopped brisket was at least warmed by the potato bun and had additional flavor due to the sauce it comes in.The lemonades, original and prickly pear, were neither sweet nor sour. For the sides: the mac & cheese has a tangy/ smoky flavor, the jalapeño cheddar grits were fine with just a hint of spice, the ranch style beans were good. Overall, 7.5 out of 10.

    Stephen L.

As someone who has lived in Texas and K.C. I am very skeptical about trying new bbq places. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the food and flavor . The grits were out of this world and had me wanting me food . The Mac and cheese was solid and very flavorful . The brisket was solid and was a nice mix of dry and wet. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was flavorful and made me want to eat more. When I go back o will definitely have the grits and jalapeño sausage with the brisket and I'll get the beans . The bread being provided was nice and I enjoyed making mini sandwiches with the meats . If you have the chu alce get in line and you will enjoy the food you are served.

Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage, pork belly, Brisket Plate, mac and cheese, beans, and Jalapeno Cheddar grits
    Lynnea B.

This was hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. We came on a Sunday and their special was candied pork belly (an absolute must try). We ordered that along with the brisket and four jalapeño cheddar sausages, plus sides of mac and cheese, jalapeño cheddar grits, and beans. I've never had BBQ this good. The meat was incredibly tender, and every bite was packed with flavor. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was oozing and juicy, the brisket was smoky and melt in your mouth tender, and the pork belly was the perfect combination of fatty, juicy, and sweet. The sides were just as impressive. All rich, creamy, and comforting. And the beans, my goodness I've never had beans this good in my life. An unforgettable BBQ experience from start to finish.

When will Central at Thomas location open?

No, they said they can't afford the cost it would take to make it profitable.

When I pre-order do they take the money right there and then or on order date? For example: I…

Is pork belly available everyday at this location?

When it is, get there early cuz they only make limited amounts and once it's gone it's gone !!!

What are the typical wait times for lunch? How early should we plan on arriving mid-week?

If you go right in the middle of lunch (11:30-1:30) plan on waiting in line anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. It's not nearly as insane as the original location.

How early should I get there?

I would suggest close to when they open to make sure they have the full menu available. A few months ago when I went around 2p on sat they were running out of their more popular items and there was still ~ 30min wait.

Am I going to have any problems getting in on a Thursday evening?

    5:00PM - No Problem! 6:00PM - Probably gonna wait for a while. 7:00PM - Waiting and possible…

Do they only sell the green chili burritos on monday or do they sell bbq as well?

Only burritos, no bbq on Monday....

I've been to the Tempe location, but need some tips for the Sunnyslope Spot. If you're going for dinner, do they restock their meats at 4 p.m.? What time do you recommend lining up for a 4 p.m. entry? Is there a good shot at securing indoor seating?

It not as bad as Tempe. You can get in without a line until about 5:00PM.

Planning on visiting on a Sunday. Do they run out of items earlier on Sundays?

Absolutely. They are open earlier hours so they would always run out earlier but if you try to go there around 1pm they won't have much left.

Does this location give out line tickets like the University location?

No, been there a few times now and nothing like that.

If you go later in the evening on a Friday are they sold out of a lot of options?

    Likely so.

I can grab as much white bread as I want, refill my own drink, never have to flag someone down for napkins, and I've had some great conversations with other patrons. The brisket is consistently good, and I always order it moist. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is another favorite, but the baked beans deserve their own mention. They're loaded with bits of shredded pork that add both texture and smoky flavor, making them one of the better barbecue sides around. Rudy's is one of those chains that doesn't feel like a chain. The focus is on the meat, and it shows. It delivers the consistency you'd expect from a larger operation while still feeling like a neighborhood barbecue joint. That's not an easy balance to strike, but Rudy's pulls it off.

Place was very clean and everyone was very nice. We got up to the counter and the guys actually helped make the meal better by suggesting something a little different than I was thinking. I ended up with the 2 meat baked potato. Very good food. Will be back again.

My husband took me to this restaurant after having tried it one time while visiting in Arizona. I…read morecould understand why he wanted me to try the food. It was exceptionally delicious. This what we ordered: Brisket Hot links Pork Belly Pork Ribs BBQ Beans Collard Greens BBQ Spaghetti Hot Water Cornbread Cedar Lane Lemonade Everything was flavored nicely. If I had to omit one item from our order it would be the beans. My favorite was the BBQ Spaghetti, collard greens and the Hot water cornbread. I thought the beans would have a bit more flavor, but I've never been a bean kind of gal. You will need to try it for yourself! The Hot water Cornbread was great. The texture was a little gritty, but still yummy. The shape is what caught me by surprise. It was round and flat almost like a pancake. The service was outstanding. Friendly and hardworking. The food came out in good time. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Has a warm but rustic vibe. I would most definitely revisit this spot whenever in the area.

The whites stayed north because local industry made real estate in the southside less desirable. Slaughterhouses and rendering factories gave south Phoenix a black cowboy population. Sure, there are cowboy groups in California - West Oakland and Compton - but these guys are all LARPing. That is, they're playing the part. Weekend warriors. The afro-vaqueros of Phoenix are dyed in the wool, real deal westerners. So anyway, it's in this milleu you find AT JL BBQ. Alongside said cowpoke, you may, as I did, dine next to a couple 304s. It's an active neighborhood, what can you say? Neither here nor there, but the ephemera that adorns the walls is different than what you might find at a soul food place. It's decidedly more American as such. Speaking of the signage: one of them reminds you that bbq is not fast food and that a patient temperament is of the utmost. Yet, the smoker ain't going. The Cue been cooked. As for the sides, no one does greens and Mac n cheese a la minute. So if everything is prepared, why do I have to wait? I kid. I jest. The girl behind the counter was all by herself. Gave great recommendations. And even gifted me a bottle of water On this visit, brisket was sold out. Late afternoon: makes sense. They had pulled pork. Bites of the smokerd rendered fat therein had the effect of rocket fuel. Pork belly was even porkier than the aforementioned shredded butt. Ribs pretty good too. Mac: ultra cheesy. Pot liquor from the collard greens came in clutch for hydrating the more dry pieces of pork.

That pastrami- I'm an east coast girl--- like someone's mother made it in her crock pot! To put that on some bread would port you to NY or Jersey, STAT! The ribs are perfectly DEELICIOUS and cook out approved. Frijoles, ooooh nice, savory and filled with slow cooked love. The service is FABULOUS! You feel welcomed, it's very down home neighborhood feel. Me and my family went. (The 3 of us probably made too much noise.) but Eric's makes you feel relaxed and kicked back because the food is the show! It was our first time and there's no rushing you through the order process and they explain how it works, happily. It seems that everyone is humble and makes you feel like this is their love language. My family, the 2 of them had a burger and fries, chicken wings, pulled pork and brisket with Mac n cheese and cole slaw. When I reached the table, they both said the brisket was the best they've ever had! I feel like it's priced right! It's family style, so ordering by the pound makes so much sense. We ordered separately, but we each have good amount of food leftover for a day or two for me. We wanted to try SO many foods. We discussed needing to get the banana pudding next time. We all live downtown Phoenix but coming out to the suburbs for this, was A PERFECT TREAT for a Saturday dinner. My colleague suggested Eric's and WOW, she was SO ON POINT with this suggestion. Oh, they brew their own tea daily. Sweet and unsweetened. Oh, how could I forget the MUSIC! OMG, THE MUSIC! 70s RnB, SOOOOO COOL!!!
