Little Tokyo has always been my go to teriyaki joint ever since I was a kid. Not only is the teriyaki delicious but their portions are crazy generous. I usually always get the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki but decided to try out the General Taos Chicken as well today. The portion was huge! It could definitely feed 2 people. This little south tacoma joint used to be really good. What the hell happened? Ordered teriyaki chicken with rice and salad. The salad was drowning in dressing and the rice was not fresh. The chicken was worst of all. Dry as heck and they tried to cover it up with tons of teriyaki sauce and the sauce was weird, like syrup. The food was so bad we went to another restaurant to get the bad taste out of our mouth, now that's bad. I think might of been first time doing that ever. Ordered a combo plate to go, it literally took 2 minutes! For teriyaki chicken and yakisoba? Everything was pre-made. Rice was gummy, only vegetables in my noodles were onions and a few carrots. First time trying Little Tokyo and I must say I'm impressed. This is some of the BEST Chinese food I've had in a long time !! I got the chicken Katsu made spicy in a combo with sesame chicken and I asked for a side of sweet and sour sauce for my rice- they gave me three packets which was pretty nice, I really only expected one ! The food was made and delivered quickly and tasted fresh and delicious!! It was my partner and I first time dining at Little Tokyo. I had the chance to enjoy honey garlic chicken which I give a 10/10. The portion was huge. The flavor was exactly how you'd imagine honey garlic to taste- Sweet and savory. My partner chose to get chicken Katsu and gave the dish a 7/10. The presentation was nice, the chicken was crispy and juicy, and the salad was refreshing with their house dressing. Service was good. We had to walk up to the counter to order and pay for our food. And then we chose our own seating and the food was then brought to our table with utensils all under 15 minutes. Highly recommend if you love Asian style food. read more

Staying at a hotel nearby and was looking for something quick and easy. The food came impressively fast, but a bigger surprise was that food was really good. I give it five stars on food alone, but the small dining room left a little to be desired. Still, as most of their business is takeout, this place does the job very well. Doesn't look like much when you walk past or when you walk in, but the food tells a completely different story. I don't think I've ever had teriyaki until this place, usually because at almost every teriyaki establishment there's nothing for vegetarians to eat. This place, however, proved different. I knew as soon as I walked in to pick up carry out by the way it was full inside and everyone being a person of color, that the food would be fire. I got the stir fry tofu with nuts. I wasn't sure how it would taste with almonds on top, but I gave it a whirl and I'm so glad I did. The food was absolutely delicious, packed cleanly, and they got the order ready in less than ten minutes. I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in Washington and trying other vegetarian-friendly items. I'm already craving it again. Bless Little Tokyo Teriyaki. read more

The teriyaki sauce that they used was super thick and goopy like aunt jemima syrup, and it didn't taste like the chicken was marinated in it at all, so it was just like eating unseasoned grilled chicken with syrup on top. Let me start by saying the food is always great! but, the person(lady) taking the orders made a mistake while taking my order. So when I came to pick up food my total bill was almost $80 bucks & I only ordered 2 meals. Upon figuring this mistake out when I arrived at the restaurant I apologized profusely but, the lady didn't care & just got upset w/me then started just to give me the evil eye & not say a word to me. Mistakes happen especially sometimes u really shouldn't take it out on ur customers especially ones that have came to ur business to spend money 4 times in the past month... The portions are big compared to the average teriyaki places. Food is seasoned well so you don't need much to add for flavoring. I recommend getting the sesame chicken. Not sure why the sesame chicken is a little harder to bite into then the sour chicken but make sure you let it soak in the sauce for awhile other then that the food was good. read more

This place was so good! Was in Tacoma for work a couple of years ago and normally when I travel I go to a different place each night. This was so good I went back again the next day! RACIST TO HISPANICS My family and I visited this restaurant today. There was not a single customer. The woman at the counter saw us come in, and didn't even greet us and seemed annoyed. As we were ordering our food she was having an attitude, rushing us to order, and rolling her eyes. she just seemed very disgusted to be taking our order. We paid for our food, and sat down at the table. Shortly after that other clients ( Caucasian) came in to the restaurant, and I noticed the same woman at the counter actually greeted them, and provided them good service. When our food came out she literally threw out plates on the table and walked away, as she was walking away my husband asked for hot sauce, and she continued to walk away and said you need to pay for it. My husband went up to the counter to get and pay for the hot sauce, and once again the woman visibly annoyed threw the sauce on the counter. At that point I expressed my dissatisfaction, and told her I noticed the kind of service she gave us from the beginning compared to the other client's. At first I thought she was simply having a bad day which is still not an excuse, but it was pretty obvious she disliked us from the beginning, because not once was she rude to the other white customers. We told her we noticed she was discriminating us, we are paying customers and not asking for anything for free. We ended up taking our food home. Never going to that place again. read more

My best friend and I grabbed an early dinner after work here. She has been to this place plenty of times before but it was my first time here. Parking is a little limited but I was able to find one after a few minutes of waiting for the person to leave the spot. This place is an order at the counter then sit down kind of restaurant. I was standing around waiting for the lady to notice me for a few minutes before I realized it was that kind of place! Once I figured it out, we were quick to order and sit down. I had chicken katsu and my friend had the Mongolian beef combo with chicken teriyaki extra spicy. The portions are pretty big but the price is also a little higher than most teriyaki places I have gone to. The chicken was delicious: crispy and thick but it was lacking in flavor. I felt that the chicken itself was not seasoned well. My friend's food was amazing. She had it extra spicy and it was legit spicy and we both love spicy food. Most places whenever we ask for extra spicy or 5 stars, it still isn't spicy enough. But this was a good amount of spice, I loved it! I should have ordered hers. The chicken teriyaki was so different from every other chicken teriyaki places. It had a good flavor, sweet and spicy but not overly sweet like most teriyaki chicken. The Mongolian beef was also good, nice and tender not chewy. Overall, the food here is great. Even the service is nice. It was a little busy so the lady was a little slow on our water. My friend said there usually is a pitcher on a side table that we would get ourselves but there wasn't one out when we went so we asked her for water. I've been patronizing Little Tokyo regularly since 1996! Yes - it's been around that long! This will be the last time I come here. I asked the counter lady/owner "All I want is chicken & vegetables - no rice. What number should I order?" #2 - Stir fried chicken with vegetables - she pointed to the menu pictures on the wall above her. So I went with the #2 - Stir fried chicken with VEGETABLES. As you can see from the picture I took of my food - there were NO vegetables. I brought this to her attention, and she told me "they are hard to see because they are all chopped up." That's a direct quote. Look again at the picture...no vegetables. I did notice a stray little teeny shredded carrot in my food - I'm guessing from the salads they serve there. Look at my picture. Look at the picture taken from their wall menu that she pointed at. There is a large sign posted behind the cash register that says "NO REFUNDS ON FOOD". Gee - I wonder why that is? Over the years we have eaten here multiple times. The food is usually great with generous portions. Today we were very disappointed. The person taking the order wore a mask and gloves. After using the restroom, I noticed on my way back that the chef was NOT wearing a mask! I had already paid for my food otherwise I would have walked out. As it turned out, our order of sesame chicken turned out to be stringy and chewy. They were not allowing patrons to eat in so we didn't realize how bad the food was until too late. Sooooo I found this little gem a couple weeks ago and I am absolutely hooked!! I took my two daughters and a best friend there last night for a "teriyaki date night" and it was beyond bomb. We got 2 combo plates, 2 sides of egg rolls (4 total) and 2 sides of Gyoza (12 total). Plus 3 drinks, I had water. The bill was $41 and some change. We left with a humongous doggie bag that then got devoured by 3 more people at my other friends house. HIGHLY a recommended teriyaki place!! I really like their teriyaki pork, general tsao's and the rice. Poor that yum yum sauce on the rice and I'm pretty much drooling on the table!!! I used to like this place but now it's dreadful. I ordered a chicken and pork combo and the chicken was dry as the Sahara the pork as tough as Tyson. My wife had the spicy pork combo and there were more mushy onions in it than pork. The pork was covered in this gooey brownish sludge. What they are doing is just diabolical to the food. I'm sure they serve better food in a North Korean prison. I guess the sign outside saying they are looking for a cook says everything. read more
