Lured in by the raving reviews. First impression was that this is a popular restaurant suitable for families and dates. I mean they've been around for like 50 years now. I'm not too adventurous so I can only speak for the pizza. The pizza was heavier on the crust, which made it just a little bit awkward to fold. The overall pizza itself was still kinda thin. Flavor was decent. Price was a bit on the higher end. Love the bread though. Fresh out and went well with the olive oil. Not sure why they offered me a second one then didn't bring it :( maybe it's one per table but oh well.

My friends and I were craving for some yummy Italian food. With a quick yelp search, we found this restaurant. The place was full but the server was gracious enough to get us seated in the outdoor area. We ordered the michelangelo pizza and the pesto ravioli. The ravioli was filled with sheep milk cheese and we couldn't wait to try it out. They offered some complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was delicious. The food came out pretty quickly. The pizza was cooked to perfection. The flavors were bursting in the mouth. There were adequate vegetables on the pizza, which was appreciated by us. The pesto pasta was tasty too. The pasta itself was super soft and tasted fresh. The sauce was not overpowering and was well balanced. All in all, we had a great time! The food was authentic, yummy and fresh. We will definitely going back again.

This may be my favorite Sicilian restaurant in Berkeley. The bread they serve is warm. That's important. The house red wine in a carafe is most pleasing. The mixed vegetables are the best. The vibrant colors and cooked to perfection! When is the last time one got excited over veggies. The meatballs are a must. You get two although they may of seemed slightly smaller than last time I was here. Again if it's to be served warm it better be and it was. I chose the tortelli Campagnola. I was not expecting this to be so wonderful. I've never experienced this entree before. The tiramisu not only was enormous but darn good. Service was good. Who I perceived as the owner was in hyper drive. I love this place. On the smaller size for interiors but well worth patronizing. No reservations accepted.

Overall, I have no major complaints and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. I was just not very impressed with the food, given the prices. I had the Fettuccine Alaska ($28) that was just very...basic. Both in appearance and taste. The cream sauce wasn't very flavorful, and adding parmesan cheese on top didn't make too much of a difference. The smoked salmon didn't taste that high quality either. Not that it was bad, but it was simple enough where I feel like it would've been easy enough to just make at home for a fraction of the price.

We came here on a whim around 5pm on a Friday night. They were so welcoming right off the bat! Our food was excellent, the free bread was a nice touch, and the attentive staff were great. The spaghetti noodles were perfectly cooked and the gnocchi was soft like little pillows. We can't wait to come back. The kind and family-like staff really made it so nice.

Insanely authentic and delicious Italian food! Very much family owned and super cozy inside. Our waiter was so friendly and gave us great recs for our dinner! He also threw in a full bottle of wine + extra meatball on the house. The meatballs were the best I've ever had! And the pasta was absolute perfection. I will def be back!

Prefect spot for great Italian food! Food melted in my mouth - Pasta was amazing, with perfect sauce and perfectly soft meatballs. Lively environment, with many customers so make sure you get there early. Waiters were friendly and answered my questions about the menu.

This is such an amazing Italian restaurant I've been going here for so long and I really love the pizza and the Linguine con sugo is great. I know people who work there and it has a great atmosphere.

Truth be told, Jamie W. and I have walked by this always crowded spot dozens of times, and while I knew it would be good based on my historical pizza gluttony at the Piedmont Avenue location, we also knew it would be carb central, so we kept walking, that is, until we were feeling in dire need of familiar comfort food on a cold, brisk evening. Go early. It opens at 4PM, and I'd suggest getting here before 5 unless you're willing to wait in the small side room that looked like the elevator for the Empire State Building. We started our dinner by sharing a Focaccia Bread (photo: https://yelp.to/OP-Jkb54NO) the $18 Sautéed Seasonal Vegetables straight from the farmers' market - broccolini, cauliflower, mushrooms, romanesco, and cherry tomatoes (photo: https://yelp.to/jWTfA8IZAt). A nice healthy start that segued to our individual pasta orders. Jamie had their signature dish, the $17 Tagliatelle al Sugo with a couple of their huge Meatballs (photo: https://yelp.to/npYLdmdog-). It was a simple fresh pasta, very thin, covered in tomato sauce. Light but given heft by the moist meatballs. I went for the more luxuriant $27 Pappardelle Bolognese (photo: https://yelp.to/4z7SAfimVU). Famous for the eight-hour stewed beef and pork shoulder ragu that coats the noodles, the pappardelle was velvety good providing a highly carnivorous delight. You would think we would've been fully sated by now, but we decided to indulge in the $13 slice of Tiramisu, a delightful housemade confection, surprisingly light (photo: https://yelp.to/tuk4dJFmUt). The crowd was out the door when we left. Yeah, go early. FOOD - 4 stars...true homestyle cooking, good size portions AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...constantly crowded SERVICE - 4 stars...attentive server TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely need to stop more often...but early RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? They told us it would be about 30 mins and they'd text. When it had been about 45 minutes, we headed over. While we didn't get a text, they did seat us outside around the corner within a couple of minutes. It was a beautiful, sunny evening and they have outdoor heaters. The olive oil and bread are so good! Our friend recommended the stuffed beef shank pasta, the duck pasta, and the burrata pasta. Instead of ordering apps, we went ahead with the three pastas: Agnolotti Di Lidia, Bigolli Al Sugo D'Anatra, and Spaghetti Pomodoro E Burrata. We also got a bottle of wine. Everything was delicious and Melissa was amazing! Can't wait to come back here to try other dishes!

We really enjoyed the tagliatelle as well- the boar was very aromatic. Desserts were delicious and the olive oil they used for the complimentary bread was some of the best olive oil I've tasted. The restaurant is small but beautiful with additional patio seating with heaters. Service was good, food came pretty quickly. Free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood streets.

I'm ready to take this street and head straight into the heart of Rome, or Berkeley so to speak,…read moreespecially if the food is this deliciously prepared as it is at Via Del Corso! Located in the heart of Berkeley's trendy North Shattuck business area that covers most of the northern part of the busy thoroughfare of Shattuck Avenue, Via Del Corso comes from owner Peter Chastain, a local restaurateur who made sure to save a longtime favorite local restaurant that was known as Corso, in a prine dining destination. Chastain did so by assembling an amazing team that guaranteed authentic cuisine that could be found not in just one but throughout many regions in Italy, much in part thanks to Chef de cuisine Massimo Orlando, who brings his heritage from northern Italy into all of their dishes. What brought me and two other diners here on a busy Saturday evening was the buzz that has been constant ever since they opened Via Del Corso in the summer of 2021 and we wanted to see what it was all about. Reservations on the OpenTable even a mere two days out were actually easy to make, as we arrived a few minutes late and they were still gracious enough to take our party and seat us with a view of their open kitchen, where no fewer than five chefs were cooking up a storm all evening long. The dinner menu at Via Del Corso is separated into categories including Spuntini, which are little bites; Antipasti e Insalate, which are their Appetizers and Salads; Primi Piatti or first course dishes; Piatto del Giorno or Dish of the Day; Secondi Piatti or second course dishes; Contorni or sides; and Dolchi or desserts. To start our meal we decided to order their Insalata di Polpo, which was their poached octopus served with Yukon gold potatoes, Gaeta olives, celery, sweet onions, and topped with lemon and extra virgin olive oil. Served with the perfect amount of umami and flair this starting dish was the perfect starting dish and made us eager for more of what Via Del Corso had to offer. As for the second course in our meal, we knew we wanted to share in their deliciously handcrafted pasta entrées, and it was recommended by our server Mike to order their signature pasta entrée, their Ravioli con Spungnole e Fave, which were their fresh pasta raviolis filled with sheep's milk ricotta, served with fresh morel mushrooms, fava beans and topped with Parmigiano cheese; and then we ordered a half portion of their Tagliatelle al Ragu which is their fresh egg pasta topped with Emilian meat sauce and Parmigiano Reggiano. For our main courses, we decided to split two entrées, their Petto d'Anatra con Ciliegie e Balsamico, which was their seared duck breast topped with their balsamico condimento, blistered cherries, and sautéed spinach; and their Bistecca di Manzo alla Griglia which is their Grilled Prime New York Steak served with rucola, lemon, and shaved Parmigiano. We also opted to have it served with Lardo which was a film of buttery garlic and cost an additional four dollars. The pastas would be presented to our table first and they were two of the most lovingly crafted pasta dishes we have enjoyed in some time. The real star recommended their ravioli as the were a meal unto itself with beautiful triangle shaped pouches filled with fresh cheese topped with unique mushrooms combined with an unbelievably tasty sauce. At 60 dollars our Bistecca was a wonderfully composed dish that was served with an elegantly composed arugula side dish and would have been a wonderful solo entrée to enjoy. The seared duck was a nice heavy dish that I most likely would not order a second time, as we saw the halibut being a nicely composed dish from a table far away, and nothing but good things about their signature pork chop. With a total bill of $194 for five dishes, a return visit would be a must to Via Del Corso, as we found this restaurant lively, in a good way, the service attentive, and most importantly the food prepared in a way that would make us come back for many more return visits. A neighborhood gem that everyone can enjoy!

It's a good place for a laid-back atmosphere. The restaurant is fast casual. When you enter, you can look at the menu and place your order. It's pretty much self-serve aside from them bringing your food. With that said, the limited interactions we had were pretty mediocre. What's fun is that it's a build-your-own spot. You choose your own pasta and sauce. They also have items such as sandwiches and salads. My best friend and I got the same thing--Rigatoni with Bolognese. I opted for no cheese on top. The pasta was al dente, but I definitely wish there had been a bit more sauce on the meat. The portion was decent for the price, but I do feel like I could make this at home. So if I come back, I'd opt for something else. The Italian Homemade Company has a few locations throughout the Bay Area. This one-off College Ave. is great for a quick pasta pick-me-up.
