If you enjoy coffee, this is the place. The prices for coffee is a bit pricey, but worth the money if you are splurging on your daily cup of joe. My favorite is Royal Hawaiian Mocha iced with oat milk which comes to about $7 (they always check if I am okay with dairy). Best place for a stop and go for coffee in downtown. read more

Stopped I'm because I needed some fuel to take on school assignments and working an overnight shift. I saw this place while driving on my way to Ala Moana and thought I should try it! Love to support local and small businesses. So glad I stopped in! Small but so effective. I saw caramel macchiato and I knew that's what I wanted to try. Although the photo coffee seemed cool, I really wanted something that would help me concentrate. I definitely made the right choice. The flavors in the macchiato was perfect! Not too sweet and strong! I wish I had time to stop and sit to enjoy my coffee. There is metered parking further down and there is the paid parking lot right across. I was just dropping in so I stopped in the front and got my drink and went. Overall. Would like to come back and get my fix! I used to go after work but it will be out of my way now that I moved to another location for work. I still would stop by. It's that good. Yay for my first review for 2018! Anyhoo, Local Joe is located across a parking lot near Murphy's. Kind of a random spot for a coffee shop but this would of totaaally been awesome when I used to work in downtown literally across the street from Local Joe. I've been meaning to come down here to try their oh so cool coffee art and finally had a chance while I ran some errands with my bf in downtown. We were greeted by a man and a woman who I'm guessing were the owners? The coffee shop is small but theres a few tables to sit. I decided to order the thai latte with almond milk and of course I had to have the special coffee art. I was excited to know that you could pretty much put anything on your coffee as long as you had a picture. But make sure the picture is kind of clear and contrasty so it's easier to see. I knew right away that I wanted to put a photo of me and my bf on my coffee. How sweet right? :) I also decided to surprise my girlfriend who was working nearby and surprise her with latte with a photo of her dog. Unfortunately the picture was hard to see because of the background of the photo but the owner was nice enough to use another photo I had of her, her bf and her dog. Sending it was easy.. just had to airdrop it! I was pretty blown away with having a photo of me and my bf on my coffee. Not only did it look cool, but the thai coffee tasted really good. It wasn't too sweet like how some other thai coffees are. It was literally perfect. I was amazed. I had to drop my friend's coffee at her workplace which was a bit of a challenge as I didn't want the foam to move around (which would ruin the coffee art). Thankfully it made it safely and she was so amazed with her coffee art that she almost didn't want to drink it. If you want to make someones day, this is definitely the perfect place to go and get them coffee with a special photo. It also will make me some bullet proof coffee if I was too lazy to make it myself. When I'm hungry I tend to go for the power wrap with kale, avocado, and hummus in a pita wrap. I LOVE IT. I get my hair done at a salon across the street and this place always seemed busy. Finally tried this place out one morning and wow. The menu is minimal but I think that's always better because (IMO) they focus on perfecting what they offer. There's different breakfast foods but I just got coffee. Tried the white chocolate mocha and OMG, LOVE! This is my go-to drink and any coffee place that has it and I'd be so bold as to say this is my fave white chocolate mocha coffee. There was flavor without it being super overpowering and too sweet. It complimented the coffee really well. They were roasting the beans when I was there so that coffee aroma was very strong and I loved it. The prices were also reasonable across the board. Will be back again. LOVE IT! The Ripple coffee app is so neat! It's downloadable on iOS and it is so simple to create your own design or choose a pre-made one for your coffee (AT NO EXTRA CHARGE!! There's not a finer cafe in town. Its the only the coffee shop my wife and I go. Amazing selection of caffeine forms (try the Foggy Bottom!) and it has all my all east coast comfort foods and including a outstanding pastrami sandwich and an ono bagel and lox. Local Joe's is a rock solid local business that blows the franchise coffee shops out of the water. It attracts an eclectic clientele on the border of Chinatown and Downtown. Don't be surprised if you see a former governor and the mayor in there cause that's where they go. Its a heap of fun. BTW we use the dirt cheap city parking lot across the street, avoid the more expensive parking lot in front of the place. I am obsessed with their "Joe's Cold Brew." It's the BEST cold brew I've had, I swear on it! I typically ask for a splash of mac milk + I'm set for my day. A few of my coworkers have tried their iced americano/teas and also said great things about it. + I did get the chance to try their lox bagel and it was pretty good! I'm excited to try the rest of their selection. + A few peeps have told me their Kale tacos are "to die for," so I suppose I'll try that soon! They also have awesome customer service. An unique coffee experience with the best baristas! It was definitely a fun experience... After hearing from several yelpers and friends about a place where you can print an image onto your latte, we finally walked over to check it out. Upon walking in, the staff and atmosphere was welcoming and bright. As a seasonal option, they were offering a pumpkin latte so I decided to try it after getting good feedback from the barista. My friend on the other hand excitedly ordered a hot honey latte and proceeded to show a ridiculous unmentionable photo off of his phone(I will be posting the image with the review). After a few back and forth laughs, the barista printed his provided image onto his latte. As absurd as his image preference was, we all had a great laugh with my friend's image choice and we definitely enjoyed this unique coffee experience. This place is legit!!! For two months now, I've been telling hubby how nice it would be to get some coffee from here. Parking is a headache with a vehicle that surpasses the 6 feet height limit lol. So 86 the Chinatown municipal parking lot for $1.50. If your lucky to score a spot without having to pay 18-20 buckaroos at the parking stall in front of local joe, then the coffee gods applaud you. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. I knew I wanted a picture of a turtle on top of my coffee. They print whatever image you would like from their digital magic machine for an extra dollar. I had trouble locating an appropriate honu since the colors were not able to distribute evenly with a dark background. That was ok, because I still ended up with an awesome picture from their clip art! We ordered a 12oz Mac nut latte, egg and bacon croissant, and Mac nut cheesecake. I was fortunate to be invited to have a cup-O-Joe with her and find out what all the hype was about. I knew nothing about LJ beforehand except a text that said see you at LJ after I was done with work. So being the good Yelper that I am (not), I searched for LJ on my Yelp app, but only to find the directions. LOL never mind the reviews and photos!! I was on a time crunch! All I knew was that LJ was located next to O'Toole's. I decided to park in the Chinatown Municipal Parking Lot on Smith Street and walk over to LJ. As I walked into LJ I saw one thing that immediately got my attention... LJ SERVES AFFOGATO!! Unfortunately, my friend informed me that Affogato is a little harder to put a photo on. That's when I realized what this coffee shop's niche was!! Note: For $1 extra, you can get extra foam on your Affogato, or any iced drink, in order to put a photo on top... But me no likey foam to begin with! There was no way I was going to pay $1 extra for it!!?? LJ will upload photos from the internet or your own personal photos (via text or Air Drop) and create coffee art out of them! I decided to give 4 stars to LJ because it is fun to see how each photo comes out. My friends Hello Kitty came out beautifully! The result varies depending on the clarity and resolution of your photo. The coffee art is NOT in color just so you don't get disappointed like I did. :( Damn these expectations of mine... I was warned before I ordered my drink that my photo may not come out very clear... So I'm not blaming the staff in anyway. Salted Caramel Latte - $4.95. (4 stars). Recently, my bb and I have been going out to have coffee dates before I start work. I've been searching on Yelp for new places to try out other than Starbucks. Local Joe caught my attention with all the pictures of the beverages they serve. Most of the beverage pictures on Yelp have a design on the top of the cup and it's so cute! They also serve food here so I was sold on coming here. We arrived late morning and there was no street parking. The parking lot in front of Local Joe had stalls but the parking rate there was very expensive at $22! It would cost more for parking than our beverages! We decided to park in the municipal parking to the side because the rates are reasonable. The long awaited moment arrived and we walked through the doors of Local Joe. It is a cute and cozy coffee shop. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. She was patient with us and walked us through the process of have a design printed on our beverages. They even have an app for the machine that prints out the pictures! I chose a Hello Kitty design and my bb ended up choosing a Spider-Man design. The drink I ordered was a cappuccino and my bb ordered a black eye. My Hello Kitty print was included in my drink but my bb had to pay $1 to have the Spider-Man print on his. The cappuccino was good and complimented the croissant I ordered. I really enjoyed my experience here and would come back more often if parking wasn't so difficult.
