I recently met a friend at this coffee shop in the early afternoon ... and I already cannot wait to revisit it in the morning sometime. Because I didn't want the caffeine to keep me up later, I didn't order a coffee drink, but based on the aroma--and everyone else's orders--I definitely wanted to! Download the Coffee Ripples app before you come here so you can design your own latte. My friend got hers with her face on her latte. It ensures a memorable experience. I'm not sure how crowded Local Joe gets in the morning, but it was fairly empty in the early afternoon. There are a few tables inside/outside, and we grabbed one near the entrance. But I liked the more spacious tables that are conducive to getting work done at. There is a great assortment of pastries and baked goods, and it was tempting to get more than one. I can't wait to try more during my next visit. The owners were really friendly and great in giving recommendations. I parked in the nearby municipal lot, but if you're fortunate, you can find (limited) street parking. Here's what we got: Chocolate Chip Scone: I love scones and this chocolate chip one was seriously calling my name. If you get any of the scones, be sure to get it warmed up. Scones are notorious for being dry, but this one was warm, moist and fluffy. And, there were a good amount of chocolate chips throughout. It was a good afternoon snack, but I would order this in the morning and pair it with a good cup of coffee. Paleo Cookies: My friend got some of these to go and I had a small piece of one of her cookies. I know what you're already thinking ... paleo cookies?! But yes, these were actually really good. I appreciated the taste and texture (plus, they're slightly healthier for you). Yeah, it was missing that super buttery taste of thicker cookies, but I still enjoyed these. Carlito's omelette was healthy and tasted delicious. A little kale never hurt anyone. And the bacon on top was the good kind, like the stuff my mom used to get from the butcher. Thick cut, caramelized and definitely local. I don't ever want my food to travel further then I did to eat it. My friend actually ordered his breakfast this morning from here, and he enjoyed it soo much that he doubled his order and sent it to me. I know, I have really nice friends. An amazing place for coffee and some food or snacks. They are known for their "create your art" on foam on whichever coffee you want. They have free wifi which you need to open safari and connect after you select their wifi. Download the app Coffee Ripples and either choose a pre-made saying or art or you upload a picture (can't be huge) and the circle can be placed on a cartoon, photos of your choice. I ordered the Thai Coffee, croissant sandwich and bread pudding which was amazing. I parked at the municipal and only paid $1.50 on a Saturday late morning. I found this place this morning while looking for local breakfast locations. Local Joe did not disappoint! My husband had the breakfast wrap and it was absolutely delicious! Local Joe's coffee is DA KINE. Where else in the world have you found a place where you can get your face or any picture on your latte?! + THE SERVICE: - Charles is the roastmaster and owner of this spot, and made our experience worthwhile! He was very hospitable, as he even offered samples of the shop's paleo cookies which were BOMB.COM - The dopest thing here (aside from the coffee) is the Ripple machine that Charles has. After downloading the Ripple app or AirDropping your desired photo to Charles, he can print this onto your latte! This was a unique experience given we've never had our faces on our lattes, which made us thoroughly enjoy our trip to Local Joe! + THE COFFEE: - We ordered a Chocolate Mocha, which came out to about $4.75/$5. We give five stars for the quality of the coffee because it had us comtemplating whether or not we should order another cup - highly recommend + would order it again! + PARKING: - We highly recommend looking for street/meter parking around the surrounding area - the paid parking lot infront of the shop charges $17-$20 All in all, this is a great shop / experience! Aw man. This used to be my favorite place and I'd have to say the service a few weeks ago was super sub par. Sub par enough for me to never go here again. It has been a long time since I made it there because we always want to eat there on Sundays when they're closed. I finally remembered on a Saturday when they were open. It started from the cashier who obviously didn't know what she was doing (bad hire on their part and she won't last long). In her defense she was new and born without customer service skills. I ordered a roast beef sandwich with gluten free bread as well as a "12oz Almond Milk Matcha Latte," and she asks me immediately after, "what size?" We already waited five minutes for her to figure out the order ahead of us and she apologized for that. Then 20-30 minutes go by and 6 orders of the bacon avocado toast go out. People who, by the way, ordered after us, and I ask the cashier if our food was in the way. She answers immediately that they know about it. Now I actually have to leave in about 15 minutes and had already been there for 45 minutes. I honestly thought an hour was enough time for breakfast at a coffee shop with my husband (I'm being sarcastic because it should be). I ask the guy who seemed to know what he was doing and I think responsible for training the inept cashier, and he apologized as well as proceeded to let me know it's on its way. I watched about 3 more avocado toasts go by and asked again how long it would be. I also had asked for my almond matcha latte to which it was just sitting for five minutes. I asked the other guy working there and he said, "I guess you can have it although I don't know if it's yours or finished." Fascinating. They brought out not what I ordered (I ordered just avocado and egg omelet). It came out kale which I have a food sensitivity to. I just took it. The owner, who is always attentive and nice, apologized and said he could switch it out for me. I advised that I'm not able to do that because it probably will take a long time and as I had mentioned to them earlier, we needed to leave soon. The only redeeming factor was he gave me my money back for the food order. I believe his words to me were, "I am sorry for the misunderstanding." The thing is, I'm customer service, you always take responsibility unless it's some sort of legal thing. I didn't feel there was any responsibility and the bare minimum was done which was a refund. I am grateful for that, yet I would expect a good breakfast spot to not strive for the bare minimum. read more

My wife and I were in town picking up our vehicle from an oil change and wanted to find a cafe that served sandwiches and other wholesome food in the area. Yelp, as always, did not disappoint! Just by looking at the pictures on Yelp, it's easy to see why this coffee house is unique. With an app or airdrop, you can send a picture to them and they'll literally "print" out the picture right on your coffee! For a $1 more, they'll even print out a picture on your cold drink (they have to add froth to it first)! The atmosphere is reflected in the old-timey building that is located at. It's small so I can definitely see a line going outside if it's packed. Fortunately it was the middle of the day and the place was very accommodating. The workers were pleasant and explained clearly the process of getting your picture on your coffee. The coffee itself was delicious! They use organic coffee beans. I ordered a breakfast croissant and my wife ordered the turkey pesto. Both were delicious when toasted (admittedly I took a bite of her sandwich). Then we had their "paleo cookies". Soft and delicious! My only gripe would be the cost. The whole order was over $30 for 2 lattes, 2 sandwiches, chips and a container of cookies (6 total). Could've had a meal with that. All in all, the location has character, friendly service, good food, and great coffee! Been coming consecutively because I was blown away by their coffee! I really like the quality, although some reviews have said it to be mediocre at best, I tried a few other small business coffee shops and their quality of drinks did not meet the quality I expected from their ambiance they try to portray. Local joes gives a modern, local, and mature feel and their drinks deliver! I even received latte art! Be prepared to wait if you order food with your coffee, I've noticed the service can be backed up because it's usually only 3 ppl (cashier, cook, & barista) Not a problem at all cos it does get quite busy, so totally understandable! The only issue I've had was that the service is not friendly or welcoming. It's a very awkward process from ordering to picking up your items. It seems they can be friendly to some and can be completely cold shoulder to others. Maybe you'll get better experience if you match their energy! Otherwise, great drinks! read more

Super cute coffee shop with awesome drinks! Got the Thai latte, which has condense milk and coconut syrup in it. It wasn't overly sweet and the coconut was a nice touch. Also ordered the Vietnamese coffee cold brew which was delicious. You can get a personalized image on your latte by airdropping them a photo. Found this place on Yelp after hearing about the coffee foam photos. My husband and I decided to check it out. I tried the "Kale, Hummus, Avocado Taco" (sorry no photo) & my hubz had the sausage brekkie sandwich. Everything was delicious. I had a cafe au lait & he had a Vietnamese iced coffee. I love small local business. Located right by that open air parking lot by Murphys bar in Chinatown. This spot is kinda tucked away. Great spot to come and chill or just simply stop by to grab coffee and yummy pastry. I got their fancy artsy latte that I had to airdrop a pic to their iPad and they uploaded that pic to a latte machine that made my latte into that picture! Best to choose good quality pic with good contrast cause or else latte art won't turn out that good. Their banana bread is delish! I went to Local Joe by accident today on my way to work, I take the same path everyday but during my walk got distracted and totally missed a turn I always take! I went in to get an iced coffee because it was hot and humid af today. I got the Vietnamese Cold Brew and it was literally the best iced coffee I've ever had! It was a strong cold brew with steamed condensed milk at the bottom I also got a chocolate chip scone which was still fresh after being left at the bottom of my backpack all day. I will probably stop there again tomorrow even though my bank account says no! I'm also thinking this place could use some art or a theme though - the coffee is good enough! read more

I went in the other day to purchase more but they were out and the owner recommended a bag of Papua New Guinea Peaberry and it's just as delicious. My boyfriend and I were looking for a brunch spot in the Chinatown area and we came across this place. We ordered the waffle bites, which is a plate of small pieces of waffle and fruits and a breakfast plate that had a frittata, avocado, and toast. And of course, we had to get a coffee! You can download the Ripples app and choose from a variety of pictures (or upload your own!). It is then sent to a machine and printed into the foam of your espresso drink. I've always seen places that had those machines, and it was super cool getting to see it done before my eyes! Local Joe's has a cool, hipster, laid back vibe. We decided to explore and read about Local Joes on yelp. So off we go, when we got there,the counter lady was super nice,helping us make a choice .I had a Thai latte, new too me, really delicious. My husband chose just a plain coffee. I thought a boring choice when you're exploring. We shared a plate of waffle bites , a neat play on Just plain old waffles, it was bite size pieces covered with fruit like strawberries blueberries and blackberries, it had a little cup of syrup and one of a white chocolate sauce. This place is by far the best cafe I've been to since descending on the island to live a month ago. They have the whole package. The food is fresh and tasty, the coffee is phenomenal and the staff are a top-notch team. Charles, the leader of the pack is awesome. I had an incident where I got the wrong coffee beans because I forgot to ask for decaf. Charles kindly replaced my beans completely free of charge nor did he insist on taking the other beans back. I was totally impressed with how he handled my situation. Amid Covid's adverse economic impact on small businesses, this business owner, Charles, displayed class, great customer service and courage to not think of his bottom line but his customer's satisfaction.
