Came in Friday night to celebrate my birthday dinner with some friends and it was bumping! Even though we had made a reservation, we still had to wait for a little while but we didn't mind. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and it felt cute and quirky. The menu had ample of pastas and pizzas options and we decided to get a salad, two pastas and a pizza to share amongst the three of us. We ordered: 1) Locanda salad: mostly salad mixes with some watermelons, which was underwhelming. It tasted like something one could easily make at home so would not recommend ordering. 2) cacio e pepe: we heard this would be really good and we decided to order because we wanted to see the table side performance. But to our disappointment, they didn't even do the tableside service next to us and instead, becuase two tables down from us, there was someone else ordering the dish, they simply just did it over there and simply just brought us the dish after. We were waiting for them to bring the cheese wheel next to us but that never happened so we were all very disappointed that no one even told us about that. I don't think this was worth the price after all. 3) la Golosa pizza: this was pretty alright and you could actually taste the truffle which we thought was good. 4) we also got this other seafood pasta with tomato sauce and that was also pretty tasty. I forgot the name and can no longer find it on the online menu. I think every other table had a birthday celebration that night, and so the restaurant was singing Italian songs all throughout the dinner. We were it was a bit over the top and very disruptive when we were trying to have a dinner conversation so we weren't fans of it (in fact, we actually decided not to tell them about my birthday for fear that they would sing next to us!) but if that is your thing (the table next to us seemed to enjoy it!), you might find that super festive and fun! read more

We had a delightful first time at Locanda Sorrento in downtown Campbell! We enjoyed our starters with the burrata cheese, prosciutto special and the fritto misto. The fritto misto did not have as much calamari and shrimp as we had expected but it was still delicious with the side of creamy sauce (I don't know what's in it but it's good!). I love my pasta al dente and this was perfectly firm to the bite. I especially appreciated the ratio of clams in my spaghetti del golfo. It was plentiful and flavorful. It was a special occasion for a birthday and anniversary dinner and we very much enjoyed the caramel panna cotta (with a sparkling birthday candle surprise)! Had some great and some mid-experiences here. The cons - The place was catered towards Instagram influencers lot of champagne bottles and fake lemon vibes decorated around. The cacio e Pepe wasn't traditional - it was heavy with bechamel sauce, it was very hard to taste the Parmesan and pepper in the spaghetti. The fried zucchini was a little oily and heavy from what I was expecting. The pros - great, attentive and respectful staff. There was someone in there for a birthday and a waiter sang opera style! I met a friend for lunch. She is a frequent customer so they greeted her in a warm friendly manner. We got seated outside since the restaurant was hot inside. I appreciated that they let us talk but it seems like our waiter kept forgetting us. I ordered the lobster ravioli with prawns. It was good but nothing extraordinary. Visited Locanda Sorrento for dinner on Saturday night. I'd say the visit was a 3.5 stars. Atmosphere and Service: The atmosphere at Locanda Sorrento is a festive one, with lemon garlands lining the ceiling and the walls, dark blue teal and white walls with gold trim, white tablecloths, and scenic paintings of Sorrento. When we arrived at 6:30 pm we had to wait some time to be sat for our reservation. It was already crowded, and we were sat at a table sandwiched between two other tables. The environment was so loud and chaotic we could barely talk to each other. The noise was so distracting that it was very difficult to focus. The service was okay, nothing stellar. We were sat with a couple of other tables at the same time, ones that were located on either side of us. So, the service was often sequential and awkward at times. Food: We ordered Prosecco to start, which was good. No issues there. I went with the Branzino, which was served with sautéed peppers and other veggies and roasted potatoes. The Branzino was fine, but the skin wasn't at all crisp and there was no color on the fish, no caramelization. The veggies were plentiful and well seasoned but the potatoes were a little dry. My partner said the lasagna was okay, but nothing spectacular. After our entrees, we did have the lava cake for dessert and some espresso. The lava cake rich and chocolatey and gooey -- everything you want when you order a lava cake for dessert. The espresso was also high quality and excellent. Overall, I'd say that Locanda Sorrento had more misses than hits. I don't expect to be back, but I don't regret giving it a try. read more

It's my first time dining in Downtown Campbell because it is about an hour away from me, but I'm so glad I went. Locanda is very popular, so I gave it a try. I sipped on "The Wrong Way" cocktail, it was a bit strong but I'm in my early 20s still adjusting to the flavors I still loved it, I never knew Vermouth and Prosecco would make a nice pairing. Also ordered the bread basket expecting regular bread and butter, but this was much better. Twisted crackers, fresh Focaccia and a basil dip, ate it all! I ordered the Gnocchi but with Pesto, and my friend ordered a seafood pasta. He absolutely loved it, finished it in 5 minutes. I took my time with my gnocchi to enjoy the cheesy sauce and fresh pasta. I loved the gnocchi, 7/10 compared to other ones I've tried. Hailing from Cinque Terre, the trofie al pesto is as legit as it gets and brought me back to our Italian holiday. Homemade short twisted pasta with a pine-nut forward pesto: this was delicious. Celebrated my birthday at Locanda Sorrento last night. My friends and I enjoyed the special appetizer of the day, Beet salad with arugula, pistachios and chèvre. We also liked the truffle fries. I don't care for truffles, and was glad that the dipping sauce was served in the side. For entrees, two of us ordered the Spaghetti Al la golfo--Al dente pasta with Manila clams and a couple of shrimp. Very tasty! My other friend ordered the branzino. He pronounced the pan-fried fillets moist and perfectly seasoned. A server brought a panna cotta with caramel sauce and a candle for us to share, accompanying it with a nice tuneful rendition of "happy birthday ". The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive to three friends who had much catching up to do. Living only blocks from Locanda Sorrento, I imagine this establishment will become a go to place for me--there are many things on the menu I'd like to try! read more

We came in on a Monday night with a reservation and were seated right away - no wait, though it wasn't a full house. Because of that, the ambiance felt more warm and familial. However, I have been there on a beautifully sunny Saturday evening as well (as opposed to a rainy Monday) and the ambiance was more lively; just be cautious that lively tends to encompass a higher noise level, which I saw some of the comments complain about. That didn't bother me at the time though; just depends on preference. The service, food, and alcoholic beverages we got were great. The restaurant staff is all, if not mostly, Italian which we felt added to the authenticity of the experience. We got arancini to start and lobster ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, a mushroom fettuccini, and their Casio de Pepe which is what they're known for. My only complaint is that we didn't get to see them do the Cacio de Pepe in the cheese wheel in front of us at our own table. The table across the room had a show of it though, and the bigger party room did as well, so I guess they figured they didn't have to with us. The side streets had signs , no parking. We ended up going across the street about 1/2 blk away in a city parking lot .( not so bad, some walking) Food was delicious , I had the eggplant pizza, others had the pesto, lobster ravioli and clam linguini. A large group of us had the private room reserved to celebrate a friend's birthday this past July. There is a small parking lot to the side of the restaurant. After we were all situated in our seats, the manager, Davide, came to greet us and assisted us with ordering starters and wine. Although there was one vegetarian in our group, all of the dishes were shared family style. The standouts for me were the Bruschetta, Lobster Ravioli, Carbonara, and their Caramel Panna Cotta. As a bonus, Davide, sang us some Opera, which pleasantly surprised everyone at the table. I was really surprised by Locando Sorrento! I've never had a *really good* meal in downtown Campbell. I love the vibes but the food has always been mediocre. Not the case here!! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and fueled me right for the SJ half marathon I was running the next day. We ordered Brussel sprouts, ravioli di aragosta, and truffle fries. However the star of the show was the linguine del golfo. The seafood was so fresh and they did not skimp on the clams! Cute Italian restaurant. It was really busy so highly recommend making a reservation in advance. They have a tiny parking lot so you will most likely have to find street parking. The ambiance was a little all over the place. They have two dining areas and we were seated in the room where the bar is. The loud music and lighting was giving club vibes, which we were not expecting lol. Also, it was extremely warm in the restaurant. My friends and I were all borderline sweating while eating our dinner on a December evening. The service was great. All of the staff were helpful and very attentive. Our food came out super fast! Nice wine and drink selections. My friends and I shared the truffle fries and they were just meh. They were thick and flavorless. I would skip on these. For my entree I ordered the gnocchi. The pasta tasted fresh but the texture was a little too mushy for me and the red sauce was a little bland. For sure recommend having a reservation and getting a table inside. The truffle fries (4/5) were really good! The fries on their own are basic but the truffle sauce really is what makes it good. And I love that they don't skimp on the sauce. My bf got the lasagna and he liked it, doesn't stand out much. I also liked my carbonara (3.5/5), it was fine. Saw some videos of Locanda Sorrento on TikTok and decided to make a reservation for my birthday dinner! Went on a Monday at 7:15pm and there was lots of street parking available. The restaurant was not too crowded either. We were promptly seated as soon as we entered. We each ordered the Cacio E Pepe and split the Pizza La Favorita amongst the 3 of us. Cacio E Pepe (4/5): Big portion size! It was very creamy and cheesy. I prefer red sauce over white but this was still pretty good. If you like white sauce and/or want the table side experience, order the Cacio E Pepe! Pizza La Favorita (2.5/5): Nice presentation, but the flavor missed the mark. There was not much seasoning and the pizza was very floppy. Caramel Panna Cotta (5/5): Delicious! This was complimentary for my birthday and it was our favorite dish of the night. We didn't get the birthday opera experience but regardless we appreciated the dessert. The sweetness caramel and fruit nicely balanced the panna cotta - amazing! Overall, the savory dishes could have been more flavorful and it's a little pricey to frequent often, but the dessert was delicious and I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion as the ambiance was charming. read more

Oops, Pecorino Romano. What a treat! Came here for the Cacio e Pepe which was the real deal prepared at our table with a wheel of Pecorino Romano, toasted pepper, and fresh homemade pasta (very al dente). Creamy, to the tooth, and so delicious. The Locanda Salad was huge (we split) and so yummy. Our secondi was the short ribs on a bed of whipped potatoes which was cooked for a very long time and tender and tasty. The spumoni desert was a perfect ending with a rich chocolate coating of very strawberry, pistachio and chocolate ice cream, strawberry swipe and rich whip cream. I normally like this restaurant a lot, but our last visit was less than perfect. The restaurant was extremely loud, I mean, deafening with multiple parties dining. We know it's the holiday season , but it was really loud, to the point that our ears were ringing when we left. The food was good, The truffle fries were the high point of the evening. We also enjoyed the short rib special. It would've been nice to have a bit more mashed potatoes on the plate, but otherwise it was tasty. My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful lunch today at Locanda Sorrento in downtown Campbell. The restaurant has such a bright, welcoming Amalfi Coast vibe that immediately puts you at ease. My wife and daughter both ordered the halibut and they were very happy with it. Kicked it off with an Aperol Spritz (good life decision) and some foccacia bread, grilled artichoke hearts to start (always good decisions). Opted for the Locanda salad and added grilled prawns. Refreshing, satisfying flavors and came away feeling pleasantly full but not so full that I resembled a baby whale off the Amalfi Coast. Went for a corporate dinner with a reserved section. They are located in downtown Campbell area with no designated parking, so you'll have to find street parking. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. Service was attentive and kind, but this could have partially been due to our corporate event. Regardless, we appreciated the service that we experienced. They gave recommendations for shared appetizers and made sure to differentiate those that were vegetarian or any other dietary restrictions. We got a charcuterie platter that may have only been offered for private events.. however the grilled octopus was a true standout, with delicious sauce and juicy large chunks of octopus. I was already partially full off of appetizers. For entree I got the lobster ravioli; it was absolutely delicious although a bit small portion. It came with about 4 pieces of ravioli and 2 pieces of shrimp. The sauce was amazing though, and I recommend not putting too much parmesan, as my friend got lots of parmesan on top and commented that it was too salty. I think if I had just gotten this and nothing else, it wouldn't have been enough to fill my stomach. They mix their cacio e pepe in a giant barrel of cheese before serving, which is a great show. We loved every bite! We sampled 3 cocktails, 3 appetizers, a pasta dish, and a pizza (see photos with labels), and it was the perfect variety for our party of 6. I especially enjoyed the Espresso Martini, Pizza San Daniel (yummy crust), Brussels Sprouts, and Cacio e Pepe. The ambience was super cute with a lemon motif and decorated for the holidays, and the service was great. Free parking lot had many open spots at 5pm on a Sunday.
