Lodge Bread is such a special place. I discovered them during the pandemic when I was working from home but wanted to get out, take a walk, and find some coffee. Their mocha is the best mocha I'veever had, hands down. And their breakfast breads are like cake, so decadent and delicious. Such a good spot!! I started working out at the Orange Theory studio next door and every time I go I pass by Lodge Bread making me want to check this place out more and more. I finally treated myself after a 11 am workout for lunch. The photos of the food already on yelp look amazing but let me tell you in person the food looks just as good and if not better! Every plate that came out to other tables while we were waiting for ours looked absolutely delicious. It was a tough decision but we ended up ordering the fish plate and the spicy sausage pizza. I thought both dishes were going to be smaller than they were but the portions were great. My boyfriend and I could have been full just sharing the fish plate alone. I loved everything on the fish plate. The tuna it came with also comes in a sandwich form so I'm definitely going to have to try that next time. I loved the Calabrian chilis on the pizza giving it that spicy kick. You can totally tell they use only the freshest ingredients and the dough was quite tasty, especially the crust. Consistently delicious and filling! I could eat their chopped salad every day and when you get avocado in place of meat they give you a whole avocado. I love the cheese and dressing they use, too. I've ordered the shakshuka every time and it's also great, especially when you soak up the sauce and yolk with the bread they give you. The fat pita is really flavorful and filling despite not having falafel in it. My boyfriend likes their pizza which has a nice charred crust. The breakfast sammie is also great but when ordering with the "crispy bacon" option it arrives with very undercooked bacon which we have to take off and cook more. I've never had a real shakshuka until Lodge Bread. The shakshuka here is a sweet, savory, spicy mix of stewed tomatoes, pepper, onions, and baked eggs on top. The eggs lean on the slightly burnt but very crispy side, which I prefer. On the side, we had three large slices of spongey, seedy Lodge bread for dipping. We were looking for a place to have a quick bite, cup of coffee and study a bit and found this place on yelp. WOW - was impressed! Street parking was limited, but found a spot within a minute. The seating is mostly outdoors, with some seats inside. Outside has a beautiful patio with plants all around. I love the vibe! Inside, there's a huge pizza oven and you can smell all that bread right as you walk in. The pizza was so warm! The bread was a great blend of crunch and softness. Chaos! It was sheer chaos coming here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. If you live in the area I would recommend take-out, unless you like standing around looking lost and hoping somebody directs you to the proper counter to order. There are a lot of counters here. After standing there perusing the menu for longer than was healthy, I decided on one of their delicious-sounding toasts with ricotta cheese and jam and one of their popular wood-fired pizzas, of which there are many. The rest of the menu offers huge "sammies," their term for sandwiches (and that pastrami one was calling my name), salads, breakfast toasts, and a sizable number of drinks ranging from the caffeinated to the alcoholic. No cocktails, though. My toast was disappointingly burnt and inedible around the edges, but the center was soft and topped with an pleasantly enormous amount of ricotta and jam. For that, the burnt-ness is forgiven. The Broccolini Pizza with Parmesan, garlic, and broccolini is apparently one of their most popular pizzas, but I forgot I don't like Parmesan and wasn't a fan. It was super-cheesy, however, and if you want to feel like you're doing something good for yourself by eating your veggies while you indulge in an otherwise unhealthy dish, this one is for you. The flavor is good, and the dough is deliciously-chewy and cooked to perfection; I just don't like Parmesan. That was my bad. The prices are fair for what you're getting and even though it's not the most comfortable dinning atmosphere, it does have a little bit of a hole-in-the-wall feel that is both inviting and exciting, at the same time, from all the hullabaloo. The bread alone is worth a trip if you love your carbs. P.S. If you're allergic to dogs, stay away. There were almost as many dogs as there were people here on my visit. "Community driven humble bakery." Love it. Cinnamon Toast -- on their sourdough. The bread is the real deal, homemade, chewy and soft inside with hearty crispy edges. It wasn't as sweet as I thought it was! Flakes of salt was a nice touch. The counter girl was very friendly. :) Campfire latte - ooo smoky black milk tea + chocolate syrup. Yum though it tasted a bit more plain than I thought. Still good accompaniment to bread. Kumbaya Good brunch combo! The interior is homey and rustic, the place gets busy though. I think that's the only downside -- it's not a peaceful place per se, I felt pressured to leave after you're done eating. Parking: Most likely horrible if you go on a busy day. There isn't a parking area that I'm aware of, and there are lots of one way streets around this location. We managed to find parking on the street, but that's because we went on a Sunday and the area with 30 minute parking wasn't applicable that day. Ambiance: I think it's small, but smart. There's seating outside for a decent amount of people (like maybe 15, 20 at the most from what I can recall). It's also devil ivy city! On the way into the establishment there's a bar top with stools for people to sit, and they have a view of the fire pit inside where they make...maybe pizza's? Inside there's about the same amount of chairs for people, and the line was so long to get to the register that we were squished against the door. Near the line in front of their coffee/latte maker is another bar-like area with stools to sit at. If you're standing in line, on your right you'll see the bakery - where they make all of their bread, cookies, and other pastries. And to your left is the kitchen. There are two bathrooms in the area - I think they are for both genders. It's also very warm inside because of the open kitchens. Food: We got a few things. First we got their cinnamon roll. It. Is. Huge. Like. Whoa. But, it wasn't hard, quite fluffy actually, and the icing on top was more of the consistency of whip cream. It looks heavy, but it's actually really light and the cinnamon flavor doesn't overpower your taste buds. Also, not sure of the price. I thought this was just okay....but I'm not a fan of the roll in general. Matcha Latte with Almond Milk ($5.50 + $1.00 for the almond milk) - This wasn't my favorite - I got it hot and it came in a little glass jar. Normally I complain that the matcha is too sweet and not bitter enough,but this was toooo bitter and it didn't taste very good with the milk. Seasonal Shrub ($5.50) - I don't know why my husband got this! I think this was...rhubarb? It couldn't have been a beet! It was way too bitter and tasted like medicine, and was red-colored like medicine. I took one sip and declared I didn't like it. Then I took another sip and declared I was correct the first time. If you ever want to try this I'd suggest asking what's in it. Shakshuka ($13) - We heard this was good, and it was! There was a bit of a spice to it, if you ask me, which kind of killed it for me in the beginning. But the flavor was really tomato-y, and the dish was really rich and warming, which I liked. I don't know what type of bread they used, but it went really well with the dish. The egg was nicely cooked too, not runny, but not hard boiled. Miso Chocolate Cookie - Not sure how much this is, but it was around the same size of my hand! They put these huge globs of chocolate in these cookies! The batter isn't super sweet, and...we couldn't taste the miso! We know the taste of salt because they had what looked like sea salt flakes on top, but the miso flavor escaped us. However...this is a goood cookie! We spent almost $40 on these items - so, not very affordable to keep going back all the time. I've been to this place a number of times before the pandemic and always enjoyed sitting inside, watching the bread being made behind the glass. I usually order the fat pita sandwich, which is delicious with fresh, healthy ingredients and warm fluffy pita bread. This time I changed it up and ordered the avocado toast. It was a decent portion and looked very pretty with the radishes. It was maybe a touch too lemony for me, but I still enjoyed it a lot. The bread was good, as it should be, and it was a fairly thick slice. The lemonade was very refreshing and I loved the added mint leaves. This time we had time to sit down for a brunch and so we ordered a few scrumptious choices and shared them all. Fish plate - everything was super fresh and pairing with well toasted rye made it such a wholesome dish which kept us full for the rest of the day ! Pastrami sandwich was very scrumptious also. Got the shakshuka and it was very filling! But i think the highlight of this place is its bread. The sourdough bread is perfectly stretchy and chewy and soft on the inside with a crispy exterior. I would also recommend getting any of the sandwiches since it is HUGE. Staff is super friendly as well with a well oiled kitchen, as if the cooking staff was orchestrating the kitchen. will be back often for brunch! I was really excited to try Lodge Bread because the toasts & breads look CRAZY but was unfortunately unimpressed by the food :( The almond butter toast was so heavy and borderline made me nauseous. I felt like there was no balance in the dish. The almond butter itself tasted homemade but it was so hard to eat it LOL it kept getting stuck to the roof of the mouth since it was so thick. If I could eat here everyday, I would! First of all - the staff is extremely kind and accommodating. Their positive energy is contagious, it's really difficult to not feel good after dining here. My favorite dish is the chop salad with turkey. It has fresh herbs and a mustard vinaigrette that really make this salad unique. It is filling and fresh - and pairs perfectly with a fresh iced tea. We also had the BLT. You can really tell this sandwich was made with quality ingredients - each bite is really delicious. The bacon is thick cut and smoked and the tomatoes are fresh heirloom tomatoes. There are a few indoor tables for seating and a handful on the sidewalk. So... Lodge Bread has been in my bookmark for months and months (maybe over a year even?) because I read somewhere that it's one of LA's great bread bakeries." Could this be the next La Brea Bakery?", I asked myself. Then I found Lodge Bread on a "great place to brunch" list... Then I saw that a Lodge Bread is opening up in our neck of the woods here in the San Fernando Valley... And I realized I still haven't tried the OG! Even though I work nearby! So I went to Lodge Bread Company (otherwise known as LBC) right quick for a quick taste... and ended up ordering more stuff to bring home afterwards. I don't always find SHAKSHUKA so I almost always order it when I see it on the menu. I did not regret it. The stewed tomatoes were sweet and there was a heat that crept up mid-meal but it snuck up on me so I really couldn't object. The two slices of nutty country loaf was great great great! The TUNA SANDWICH was giant and was really made for two people with average appetites... or one person with a giant appetite... so we took the leftover home. While I was getting up to get a doggie bag, I noticed that the bakers behind the glass panels were making giant cinnamon buns! So I had to taste it too... the CINNAMON ROLLS as they called them were not cloyingly sweet. The bread may not be brioche but was awesome. The cinnamon and sugar rolled inside was just the right amount. I wish a bit more was slathered on the outside, but then how could anyone possibly do that, really? The glaze was so light it seemed more like whipped cream. Maybe it was whipped cream cheese? Anyway, not as sweet as Cinnabon for sure... but that just made it more attractive to me :) The loaf of SEEDED COUNTRY ROLL we took home was good for several days. Lodge Bread is a fantastic little bakery in Culver City that has grown since I first visited it years ago. If you're looking for wonderful bread and some dishes based around it, it's definitely worth a visit. Food-wise, there's a few items I really like. The avocado toast here is fantastic. Beautifully presented with copious amounts of avocado, the bread really is the main star. Not too burnt but simply delicious - it's one of the better avocado toasts in town I've tried thus far. On the other hand, I wasn't as happy with the baked egg dish which was pretty small in portion and not much in terms of any saucing/seasoning. The bread is good but wish there was something more sauce-y here to mix it with. Also got the match latte (not too bad - has a very pure match taste) as well as the chai latte (much better - love the size and lots of cinnamon love). Cost is pretty nominal for the area - drinks ranging from $4-6 to entrees setting you back $10+ish. Parking is a bit difficult. Look for street parking and watch for signs. Seating is first come/first serve with indoor and outdoor patio seating that isn't too bad. The place does get busy in the mornings but I haven't had a huge problem finding seating around. Make sure to grab your water and silverware yourself. Your food/drinks are served to you and cleaned after. read more

I was here this past weekend for takeout. It felt very safe. The person taking orders was outside of the restaurant, no customers were allowed inside. They had a few picnic tables set up outside for outdoor dining, but I opted for takeout. I went for the pita sandwich, because I read an LA Times review that said their pita is amazing. The review was correct. This is some of the best pita I have ever had, and all of the greens inside were so fresh! It traveled really well too over my 20 min car ride home. The tahini came on the side so it didn't get soggy. When I was ordering the pita, I saw the Cinnamon Roll in the display case and couldn't not get it. It's the biggest Cinnamon Roll I have ever seen!! And it was DELICIOUS. The frosting was super light, not the usual cream cheese frosting. This was more like a whipped cream with hints of orange.
