    Seasonal jam toast

I've reviewed this lovely little cafe/eatery before, but on my most recent visit, I ordered the breakfast sandwich, and I HAD to come back & rave about it! Y'all, it's a HUGE sandwich piled high on a yummy bun. And I'm not certain how they prepare the scrambled eggs...but they were legitimately some of the best I've ever had. Not wet, certainly not dry, and definitely fluffy & cheesy goodness.

Everything they make is delicious. I've been going to this location for 11 years. It helps that I live just a few blocks away. The Pastrami sandwich is delicious. The salads are great. And I can't forget to mention all their wonderful pastries. The staff is always nice and friendly. When you order, they give you a number to put on your table, and then someone will bring out you food and drinks. There's plenty of indoor and outside seating. Just writing this review is making me hungry. I'm going to have to pay them another visit soon.

Got a late takeout breakie on the weekend and Lodge Bread is definitely doing in rotation. Only bummer was they were already sold out of their famous cinnamon rolls and I was told if you want one on the weekend you have to get there early before they sell out! Otherwise the food was absolutely delicious. The quality of the ingredients (thick cut bacon, eggs, delicious fresh bread) is unmatched for most breakfast spots in the area. The restaurant was packed but the staff were still super friendly and extremely well organized. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating for the sunny weather days. And it's situated in a cute little neighborhood with lots of free street parking nearby.

This is a long-overdue post, but Lodge Bread has been my favorite bakery since it first opened back in 2015. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and what's most impressive is how consistently high the quality has remained since day one. That said, there are a few standouts I always find myself coming back to. The avocado toast is a classic for a reason, and the shakshuka is one of those dishes you crave long after you've left. The cinnamon sugar toast and the ricotta jam toast are also incredible--simple, comforting, and executed perfectly. It's been really exciting to watch what started as a small neighborhood bakery grow into what it is today, without losing the heart, care, or craftsmanship that made it special in the first place. Still a must-visit, still a favorite, and still worth the hype.

Seriously super TASTY veggie sandwich + add turkey. O?n their sourdough!!!
    J'aime K.

Neat little bread bakery, cafe, etc. Kinda pricey but worth it for quality ingredients that are super tasty. I got two items this am: - On sourdough, their veggie sandwich + ADD TURKEY (all the ingredients were so fresh, sandwhich was big, I ate it for 2 meals) * Avocado, sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, gem lettuce, some kool kind of chilis crushed in mayo, etc. * It came with a large dill pickle spear (DELISH) - Almond Croissant (It literally was the best ever); get it warmed up The lady who brought me my food was so kind and accommodating. The front counter clerk was ok, a little aloof and gave perfunctory service. They have self service water, but it is at room temp, no ice. Would be better with ice/chilled. There was another diner that got a sesame bun sandwich with a knife stuck in it vertically (which looked delish), I would like to try that next time. If you go in the late morning, there is street parking and it's not too crowded. Would like to go back to try more of the menu.

Super casual indoor outdoor bakery and breakfast/lunch spot to hang out with friends. Dog friendly. Street parking. Food comes out really fast.

I frequent the BH location about once a month. This is my first visit to the Culver City site. Very different layout. The BH location is very spacious inside, lots of indoor seating and a enclosed patio with ample seating. This location has two sides, one side has a small indoor dining area and outdoor sidewalk dining; and the other side of for pick-up only with a few tables outdoors. Not as personal or relaxing vibes as the BH site, feel like you need to dine and dash to make space for others. The food, bread, and baked goodie options are the same high quality. Same menu. We ordered two sandwiches (Tuna and Ham/Cheese) for dine in. Both were excellent, the bread! I ordered two sandwiches (Turkey and Turkey Pesto), lattes, cookies, and baguettes to go. All items traveled well and gobbled up quickly with smiles. Service was good but not amazing. At he BH's store they are very friendly and check on you while you are in person dining. They make you feel special. At the Culver City location, definitely missing that! Parking, all I can say is good luck! Some street metered parking but scarce and may only be 1 hr limit. There is parking for the retail stores, but few if any spaces. Most of the neighborhood streets are permit only or just 1 hr limit. I still think Lodge Bread is a great business model with great bread and food. Definitely gping to stick with the BH location. I know where to park and enjoy relaxing while enjoying a great sandwich or breakfast with friendly service.

My husband and I ended up coming here for lunch on a Saturday in October after seeing a crazy line at the first place we were meant to get brunch. We were both hungry and just wanted to get food somewhere we knew we wouldn't have to wait long. Unfortunately we ended up regretting our visit here. There was a staff member at the cashier who looked like we'd ruined her day by coming in. We ordered and went to a table outside to sit. Since our last visit, they've remodeled slightly and have a separate entrance for ordering takeaway and dine-in orders. Aside from the bigger entrance for dine-in orders, they don't have any indoor seating, all of their seating is outdoors. Our food arrived within 20 minutes. My shakshuka was good, but my husband's tuna sandwich was just ok. They serve the sandwiches on cold bread, which ruins the entire thing.

I've visited a handful of times now and they consistently make me happy! The bread is scrumptious. The chew is on point, packed with flavor and aroma. The crust is crunchy but not tough and the inside is chewy and not elastic. Has a light tangy flavor. Ugh! It's perfect! If you love bread it will not disappoint. Paid about $11 and some change for the loaf and they will slice for you if you'd like. The coffee is great! I usually go for a latte. I've had it hot and cold, and it always tastes great. It's not super strong, I would say it's medium and well balanced when mixed with milk. They have other baked goods, like cookies, coffee cake, croissants as well. Cookies are a must. My favorite thing to order so far has been the cinnamon sugar toast. Perfectly toasted, has delicious pool of butter, cinnamon, sugar and hit of sea salt on top. It's a must have. The BLT and the turkey pesto sandwiches are yummy! I can't even say I would prefer one over the other they are both that good. These sandwiches are everything but dry or bland. My compliments to the many hard working people whose hands make this happen. The service is always great. I've visited when they are busy and not, and the only thing I would say is different is how quickly you'll receive your order. But their staff is always on it and acknowledging you. The have dining inside and outside tables. More of them outside. The place is always looking very clean and organized. There is meter parking available but on weekends you might have to find parking a little further.

    Chocolate Croissant

This place is very popular and busy on a saturday morning! They have an extensive selection of baked goods and some drinks available. Chocolate croissant: very layered and a generous amount of chocolate. super buttery and flakey! ham and cheese croissant: delicious and well balanced. again, very buttery and flakey. pear morning bun: did not really taste the pear, which I think was a jam spread inside the bun. But it is a delicious morning bun overall There is some seating available, but I did not notice outlets for working/studying.

Ricotta Jam Toast, Shakshuka, Jambon Beurre
    Sarah A.

Every dish we tried here was excellent!! A relative had brought some of their bread down for our wedding and I thought it was so incredible and finally had the chance to visit and try the other food. The shakshuka is some of the best I have had! Very flavorful. All of the food we will had was wonderful. I would absolutely come again! The food was prepared very quickly and there was a really nice open patio. It is really wonderful for a beautiful day.

I got the Fat Pita - really enjoyed it! Fresh pita bread generously filled with tons of veggies, served with what I believe was a tahini sauce. Service was prompt, casual ambience , seating options inside and out.

Breakfast Sammie with sausage. It's so, so good.

It's a smallish bakery in Culver City with a lot of really good freshly-baked bread, plus breakfast and lunch sandwiches, pizzas, among other things. I wanted to try and baguette and the ones they offer are very good-sized. However, it was a harder and crustier than I had hoped. If you have ever been to France (and who among us hasn't?), when you order a baguette at a boulangerie/bakery, you get a very warm, just-out-of-the-oven baguette that has a crust but still melts in your mouth. I realize Culver City isn't Paris but a guy can dream, right? Make sure you get cultured butter with your baguette. It's very good. The breakfast sandwich (we ordered it with sausage instead of bacon) is an absolute knockout. It is massive and comes on a pillowy soft brioche bun with two delicious sausage patties, eggs, and melted cheese. It is an absolute winner. The ricotta and jam toast was very nice. It comes on a thick piece of bread with a huge slather of delicious ricotta cheese and strawberry jam. I really wanted to love this place but the baguette should have been softer for one that I purchased at around 9 in the a.m. I still would return, though. This is obviously high quality stuff. The pastries looked amazing but we didn't try any on this visit. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Street parking only.

I've visited Café Dulce in Little Tokyo before, and I usually enjoy stopping in, especially when…read moreI'm in the area with my two kids. The drinks and pastries have always made it an easy place for us to grab a treat, so I'm not writing this based on one random first impression. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing enough that I felt I needed to say something. When we came in, the trash cans were overflowing, and the floor looked like it had not been cleaned in quite some time. I understand that cafés can get very busy, especially in Little Tokyo, and I never expect a place to look perfect every second of the day. However, the dining area felt noticeably neglected. With two children, cleanliness is something I pay closer attention to, and it was uncomfortable trying to find a clean area for us to stand and sit. The overall atmosphere also felt disorganized. We waited at the register for help, but it took a while before anyone acknowledged us. A simple "I'll be right with you" would have made a big difference. I have had better experiences here in the past, which is why this visit stood out so much. I'm hoping this was simply a bad day, because Café Dulce has always been a place I was happy to visit with my family. I'm sharing this because I would genuinely like to see the cleanliness and customer service return to the standard I remember. Private Feedback for Management I did not feel comfortable putting the full details of this experience in a public review, but I believe management needs to be aware of what happened. While I was standing at the register waiting to order, the male employee working there was engaged in a conversation with another person and appeared to be openly gloating about drinking while on the job. Based on what I heard and observed, he also appeared to be impaired or intoxicated. He continued the conversation while ignoring me, even though I was standing directly in front of the register waiting to place an order. The tone of the conversation was not subtle or professional. It created a much darker and more uncomfortable atmosphere than what I would ever expect from a family-friendly café. I was there with my two children, and hearing someone behind the register casually talking about drinking while working was deeply concerning. Someone who appears intoxicated while operating a register and handling customers' money creates a terrible narrative for the business. It raises concerns about judgment, accuracy with transactions, food-service safety, and the overall professionalism of the workplace. Even if the employee was exaggerating or joking, it was still completely inappropriate to have that conversation openly in front of customers. What bothered me most was not only the conversation, but the fact that I was being ignored while it continued. I was waiting to spend money at the business, yet the employee seemed more interested in talking about drinking than acknowledging a customer. As a mother standing there with two children, the situation felt uncomfortable, disrespectful, and honestly a little disturbing. This is not my first time visiting Café Dulce, and I have never felt compelled to complain before. I understand that employees are human and that businesses have difficult days. However, the combination of overflowing trash cans, a dirty floor, being ignored at the register, and an employee appearing impaired while discussing drinking on the job crossed a line for me. I am sharing this privately because I believe management should have the opportunity to address it directly. I hope the situation is taken seriously, not only for the reputation of the café, but for the safety and comfort of the customers and employees.

I tried the Tropical Mango ($11) and Framboiselle ($9.50) for the first time and they were really good! They have both become a new favorite of mine and I will order them again! Service was great as well. I just wish that they would carry more savory croissants at this location.

We tried the nikuman and curryman, and both were outstanding! The nikuman had a meat (chicken?) and veggie filling that was crunchy and slightly sweet and salty, while the curryman had a traditional Japanese curry filling that was tasty with the perfect amount of spices. They perfectly warmed both body and soul on a chilly LA morning. If I lived nearby, I'd eat these every day! We also tried the yuzu cream pan, which was also pretty epic. The topping was a little crunchy, complementing the soft bread and creamy and smooth tart filling. This is definitely my new favorite Japanese bakery in the US! I just wish I lived a little closer to it.

There were so many options, and everything in the display case looked fresh and tempting. The pastries I tried were really delicious -- soft, flavorful, and not overly sweet. It felt like the kind of bakery where people actually care about quality instead of just making things look pretty. The vibe inside was cozy and relaxed, which made it easy to slow down for a bit and enjoy everything. It's definitely the kind of place I'd come back to whenever I want good pastries and coffee without going somewhere overly trendy or complicated.

They're also very on-trend, whenever a Korean dessert goes viral, they usually have it here. Recently, they even started selling butter tteok, and I heard it was one of the first places to have it in K-town. I highly recommend the salted bread. Honestly, I think it's even better than the famous spot everyone talks about. My favorite is the corn cheese, it's especially delicious when it's warm. I also tried the Korean chamoe (melon) smoothie, and it was very refreshing. It tasted like they used real melon, since there was a slight natural tanginess that made it even better. There is free parking, though the lot is a bit small. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating, but the seating area is somewhat limited too

I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off. I'm not going to pay for food that skims on ingredients and shortchanges customers by charging more for less, so this will be my last visit.

And I know that vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting is pretty easy to make, but sometimes I'd rather just buy baked goods than make them for myself, especially when I'm driving past what I thought was a popular (and presumably good) bake shop. I expected a high-quality cupcake. The cupcakes looked cute, but they were as dry as the Sahara. They should have been labeled as white cupcakes as I didn't detect any vanilla in them. I suspect that the "buttercream" was made with milk and margarine and powdered sugar.....so much powdered sugar. It was sickeningly sweet, and it was dry too. And a true bettercream doesn't even use powdered sugar. So not only were the cupcakes terrible, they were not even what they purported to be. This is like calling a cut of meat a filet mignon and serving a hamburger. Von's, Ralphs and Albertson's make better cupcakes than this for a fraction of othe price.
