Several locals recommended this place, and they raved about it. However, we must have gone on an off night. My Big Juicy started out good, but it tasted weird when I reached the middle. My wife ordered the fish sandwich and only had one bite. My kids took one bit of their burger and said that it was "gross." The onion rings were good but left a waxy/filmy taste. The only good thing was that the beer was icy cold and only six cents more than a Coke; that is the reason for the two stars. read more

A usually reliable burger joint with a fairly extensive list of burgers and more menu with many choices of bottled beer and soft drinks. The big juicy is a good burger and I like the onion rings. Sit down inside and out with a nice space for rambunctious grand kids i have been here many times and notice the wait times for food can get long especially when they are busy . Tonite however the place was half full and I waited 42 mins to get my food . The most objectionable part of the wait was the 7-8 mins with what I thought might be my order setting on the counter getting cold while the staff did other things. Finally someone decided to call out the names so people could get their food. I would have walked out and asked for a refund but I had already gotten my drink so doubted the cashier could have handled the refund. 31/2 stars for the food 1 star for the service. Come on guys you can do better read more

I made the Longhorn Cafe rookie mistake thinking the jalapenos were left off but when I brought it up to the staff they told me that the jalapenos are on the bottom "mind blown" seriously it actually is better on the bottom less chance of it spilling. The onion rings were soggy and not packing a lot of flavor. But the burger was delish!! My party also ordered a full order of "Chili Cheese Fries" it was enough to feed a party of 6 as an (extra side). I cannot wait to go back. read more

Not a bad place. I would call it your standard diner fare. We were a group of 25 folks. We were able to call ahead and place our order. We were seated in an upstairs party room. We were sharing with another group which was slightly awkward, but worked out. They kept the iced down beer coming. The food varied from burgers to chicken tenders to hamburger steak. I will never go here again. They will not tell you when they have long wait times for food. Taking 45-60 min for a meal for 4 is absurd. We have had this happen on more than one time, the worst one waiting 1.5 during a event that happened on main street. If there a going to be this long of a wait you need to be upfront with guests and tell them the truth so they have the option to stay and wait a hour for food or go to another restaurant. I left with hungry children and I am very upset that this has happened yet again. read more

Service on this visit for takeout was inept...I ordered a "chicken tender basket" which is listed on the menu as four tenders with a side. What I got was 3 tenders, and a side (which usually INCLUDES a drink.). That's the "combo". Do they know their own menu? I believe the counter girl made the error because she looked puzzled when she offered me a cup and I told her I didn't want a drink. Just the same I was charged for the "basket" and got only three very small tenders--much smaller than usual. They were cold and pretty tasteless. Tater tots were over cooked and tasted like old fryer oil. I threw the whole mess in the trash. Also, I'd avoid the "buffalo tenders". They are also breaded and the breading tasted oddly foul since it was so soggy with the "buffalo sauce". Very strange tasting. We also pitched those so I basically wasted $16. The kitchen staff seems more focused on chatting and checking their phones than cooking. And I noticed too many of them touching multiple surfaces and orders without changing their gloves--a foodservice no-no. Yuk! I've supported this location since it opened but after many years of ups and downs, it has been mostly downs lately so I think I'm done. A shame. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to the longhorn in Leon springs. My husband and I ordered burgers and a large order of fries to go tonight. We get home and the fries aren't even In the bag. Called up there and the manager was extremely nice and he refunded the whole meal (even though I only asked him to refund the fries). One star is unfortunately the lowest rating I can give this place. The "service" is insanely slow, and the food is mediocre at best. I was very disappointed, not only at the slowness of the service that I received at my first and only visit by at the service (or lack thereof) that I witnessed other customers receive. One of them ordered a salad with no cheese, but when he got it, it had cheese. I watched him bring it back. Then after a long wait he got his salad... which still had cheese! So he brought it back again... this time I watched more intently to see what the staff would do (after all I had placed my order 30 minutes before and was still waiting, so I had nothing better to do). This time the girl in the food prep area took his salad back into the food prep area (a health department no no) and proceeded to pick the shredded cheese out of his salad. I was shocked! Why not just throw the salad out and start over? Do it right! Lettuce is probably the cheapest ingredient in the whole place next to water! If I had been the manager or owner there I would have fired that employee on the spot! Nonetheless, when she was done (5 minutes or so later) she returned the salad to the customer. Guess what... there was still cheese in it. The customer put the salad (that he had already paid for) back on the salad, saying in disgust "just forget it", and he walked out. They lost more than one customer that day ( May of 2022). I can only guess that that customer has never come back, but I am certain that I have not gone back. It is a far better use of my time and money just to go to Whataburger - The food is better and cheaper there, and it won't take an hour to get it. If Longhorn Cafe can't even out perform a fast food chain in any area Service, Speed, or Food quality then by my estimation they are in the wrong business. Save yourself the frustration, Boerne has so many other great places to eat, you will be better off if go to any one of those instead. read more

Don't forget your sweet tooth and get a brownie or shake. They have a huge dining area inside and outside along side a huge play area for kids. I ordered the grill cheese sandwich and a brownie to go. Kristen at the register greeted me with a kind smile. I ordered my sandwich and told her I was debating a shake when I spied fresh brownie they were packing...(OMG!). She said they were pretty good (and they really did looked dreamy!). I caved for one and she kindly hand picked a huge chunky one for me! It took less than 5 minutes for me to get my order. A kind gentleman (sorry, wished I'd gotten his name) asked my name as I sat to wait and when right to the back and made my sandwich and packed in minutes! The grilled cheese was perfectly toasted with the thick cheese gooey and melted just right! The brownie was firm but not dry. Just right sweet enough and chocolatey. Ordered a chili cheeseburger with grilled onions only. When it came out, it had lettuce, two tomatoes, mayo, and tons of pickles! Went back up and told them it em was supposed to only have grilled onions and they made me a new one, this time it came with no cheese. The kid said I told him I only wanted grilled onions...I didn't think I had to tell him I wanted cheese on my chili cheeseburger! Took it back again and told them to just put a piece of cheese on it! The chili was watery like soup and had no taste. The onion rings left a pool of grease in the basket they served them in. The kid at the counter also told my wife they were out of sweet potato fries. We had two people walk by with them on their plates, and then when she got her order, there was actually a sweet potato fry mixed in with her disgusting onion rings! This place is disgusting! I'd never been to a Longhorn Cafe location before, but got to experience it last night for a friend's birthday. It's attached to a gas station with very poor signage, which I ended up driving around for a while until realizing it's on the back side of the gas station. The restaurant was busy and a cute atmosphere. You place your order and then wait for your food and then find a table. The intercom is hard to hear and can't be heard clearly throughout the restaurant. They do have a second floor for parties, which was nice, just no staff came by so you're on your own and sometimes have to go up and down the stairs to get items. The burger I had was great. Guacamole burger and added bacon. The fries on the other hand were cold and not much flavor. I will say the cashier I had was friendly and courteous. Overall, it was a good time. Would I go out of my way to go back, not really. read more

The food was finally delicious after several months of let down. I can tell they are trying! We were thrilled with the female cashier, quality of food and dining experience. It was our date night! Mid conversation about 10 minutes before 8:30 which was closing time, the male cooks on Tuesday 2/22/22 started blaring explicit rap music over the family friendly music playing in the restaurant and forces us to cut our date short and leave because of the abrasiveness and there was an an elderly couple that sadly had to leave also. I work in Boerne and have been going to this Longhorn Cafe 3-4 times a month since the first opened and EVERY TIME you get disgusting soggy half-cooked fries. It's gotten to the point where I even order them "crispy/well-done" yet 4 out of 5 times, they come out borderline raw. I mean come on. How hard is it to cook fries???? Get it together. Being local and trying to support local businesses, one would think these folks would be more accommodating.
