Stopped by for lunch and was impressed with the lunch specials. Had the Cheese Burger and it was great. I love that they patty was the same size as the bun so you got meat and bread in each bite rather than other places you have to get thru the bread as the patty is much smaller than the bun. I great price for the lunch special for the portions you receive. They have plenty of seating as there is inside, outside and upstairs on the roof. They have a pretty extensive menu and I saw the Chicken Fried Steak which took up about 75% of the plate but looked really good. Do NOT eat here if you have allergies. Not an allergy friendly restaurant. Waited almost an hour, which can happen and they messed up our dairy free gluten free order. Instead of remaking it like they should have they tried pick out the dairy and gluten. Lucky for us they did such a poor job that we sent it. They gave my food to someone else. They took what was good in his order and gave it to me. This was 15 minutes before they had to cook my meal which I had placed 30 minutes prior to go on the phone. Got my food, got home, the chicken fried steak sandwich was raw and bloody inside, amd the mushrooms were soggy and cold. The fried mushrooms did not come with gravy or ranch. The original burger was charred to a crisp and black. Won't be going back ever again and I am a local. I have been going here often, so I am just going to keep adding to this review instead of posting an update each time I try something new. I have noticed that they don't add salt to their fried foods, so you can add the exact amount that you like. I am going to view this as a positive since I like controlling the amount of salt on my food. Also, many people are on low sodium diets so this is good for them. I had the fried mushrooms on my first trip. The mushrooms that they use are huge and most weren't cooked all the way through, they need to be cut into quarters. I finished cooking them in the oven and they were really good. On my second trip I ordered the chicken fried chicken with onion rings and fries. The portions were huge! It was enough for two full meals. The chicken was cooked perfectly, as were the onion rings, both were great. I had forgotten to run an errand, and had to do it before I went home with the food. The fries were soggy when I finally got home, so I can't honestly review those because they weren't fresh by the time I sat down to eat. The chicken and onion rings were both still crispy. Their gravy isn't homemade, it's from a mix, it's ok but it would be so much better if they made their own. I had their chicken fried steak and it was fabulous! It was a huge serving that would usually be two meals for me but it was so good that I ended up eating it all in one sitting. It was cooked perfectly, the meat was so flavorful and this time the gravy didn't taste like a mix. The steak was tender and moist. It wasn't as thin as I am used to, but it's the best chicken fried steak that I have ever had. I'm going back for another one tonight! Their queso and homemade salsa are wonderful, it's the best salsa that I have had in years. I am very picky when it comes to salsa, theirs is pretty close to my all time favorite. It needs a little salt, but that's easy to fix. I have gone back for more too many times to count. I am completely addicted to the salsa! I had their original big juicy burger with cheese, it wasn't over cooked like most burgers. A nice size burger for the price. It was good but next time I want a burger I will try their angus burger. Their chili is fantastic! It comes topped with chopped onions and cheddar cheese. it's very flavorful with a nice little bite to it. It is great by itself or as a frito pie. I am so glad that there is another place in Boerne to get chili other than Wendy's, I tried Wendy's frito pie and it was pretty nasty. So I have been craving a good one for months. Their grilled double cheese sandwich is great, it's better than the ones that I make. The bread that they use stays crispy even after reheating it in the microwave for a few seconds. The staff is very friendly. It doesn't take long to get the food. If it is going to take a while to get the food then they give you a free drink while you wait. The prices are very good, especially for the amount of food that you get. Even when they are very busy, you get your food quickly. Went for a late lunch today. Ordered chicken fried chicken and was told they were out so I ordered chicken fried steak. My wife ordered a grilled chicken salad and we ordered onion rings and chicken strips to go for family at home. The girl who took our order had to ask us four different times to repeat our order. Also, each time we were called up to get our order, we were asked again to repeat our order as they really had no idea what we had paid for. The onion rings came out early and were actually quite good. The chicken fried steak came out next which seemed odd to me considering the time it would logically take to make a salad over chicken fried steak. I grabbed my order and then went to get silverware. There were no knives and the forks had a layer of grease on them. I decided to get plastic ware instead. The chicken fried steak was air sealed in fried batter. The meat consistency was that of grade school Salisbury steak. I decided to continue on anyways. I took one bite of the mashed potatoes and found that they were cold. Decided to try another bite, and the same outcome. So, it all made sense. The $13 chicken fried steak is nothing more than a prepackaged meal that they heat up via microwave or some other contraption. That would explain the terrible texture, taste, and temperature. I decided to take it back to the kitchen staff and declined a remake (fool me once). My wife's salad took the longest to make but seemed to have a much more positive outcome. The staff seemed more interested in playing with each other rather than focusing on preparing and presenting a quality meal. The manager was nonexistent and made no attempt to address the fact that we had just returned a meal. This restaurant has a chance of being a pretty good little spot however, due to very poor management, it's likely not going to be any time soon. Not only is their drive thru closed with no signage or indication but the service was horrible! There was a wire rack on the side of the drivethru lane I didn't even see until I was close to it. Very unprofessional. I only ordered 1 grilled chicken salad and it took 25 minutes. When I got home the small container of grilled chicken and 10 ketchup packets were in my bag. No salad! $10.49 for a salad with no salad! ZERO customer service (the teenagers were huddled around the corner as soon as they took my order) and no quality control! My family and I have always loved Longhorn Cafe food, but the Boerne location is disgusting, for lack of a better word. We wanted to sit in the patio area but the majority of the tables still had leftover food on them. We sat inside and the majority of the tables and/or chairs were dirty as well. On top of that, they got my order entirely wrong and when I took it back, my husband noticed the young employees split the sandwich I returned and were eating it in the kitchen! We will never go back to the Boerne location again! We'll stick with the Blanco location instead. read more

We walked in this Longhorn Cafe last night at 7:45 PM on a Thursday night. The service and quality has significantly decreased from the past. I ordered the chicken fried steak and was told that I could only get fried sides. I asked why and they said they closed at 8pm. The young girl at the register rudely and loudly said we've been closing at 8pm for a long time now. I said why was the open sign on and the door says closes at 9pm. The badness only started there. I received a chicken fried steak where the meat made up about half of what showed on the plate. A huge ladle of lukewarm gravy completely covered my batter of the chicken fried steak. Maybe they should have just handed me a hamburger patty that was over cooked and a side of batter that was soaked in grease. We had two plates of food and were given an ultra cheap package of a plastic fork and knife that were so cheap they bend when you use them. The tater tots weren't even done and were cold and the onion rings were done but cold. The bread was buried under the steak and was cold and tough as well. I wanted a sweet tea and it was long gone as well. I regret not taking a picture because it would have definitely been worth a thousand words! In my opinion using the epidemic as an excuse to provide bad service and quality isn't acceptable. We people brave the Covid just like the restaurant does. We have a choice to go to your establishment or not to. This isn't something I've experienced in the past at the location on Blanco or even on IH10 at the Dominion. Nice, clean establishment with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, a pretty large menu of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and fried foods. They had a super entertainer outside (man) singing and playing the guitar and what seriously sounded like a full band. He was great! We opted for loaded burgers and my daughter had the kids chicken tender meal. The food took 35 minutes and it wasn't all that crowded. The burgers were good but the fries were a bit overcooked. We really like the vibe of this place: the kids can run around outside while we enjoy a beverage or two. It's very relaxing and a fun place to go. read more

Burgers large but only fair. A lot of greasy stuff on the menu, hard to find something appealing. This is one of those places where you order at the counter and they call your name. The cashier was pleasant enough, but when our burgers were ready, they were set down on the counter and no one called our names. Other orders were called and picked up while the two burgers still sat there getting cold. So I went up to have a look at the names, and sure enough they were ours. There did not seem to be a manager on duty because when we called it to their attention, we were ignored. Not only did the person being addressed pay no attention, she turned away. I loved this place! I've lived around Boerne for about a year and a half and always avoided this place for some reason. The other day went there for lunch with my dad, it was GREAT! My dad got a hamburger and it was a good old fashioned burger, super good. I got the chicken tenders with gravy. I am the biggest gravy conesuoser ever.. And out of 10 stars theirs was about a 8.5 We also got the fried mushrooms, they were kind of bland and also extremely hot when I bit into them.. Favorite place to take the family for a late dinner...I love the grilled chicken salad, buffalo sauce on the side and lots of homemade ranch. Yummo! Fried Pickles are a must try again with lots of homemade ranch. Chili cheese fries are delicious topped with homemade chili. My some loves grilled cheese and the large train you can play and climb on in the back of the restaurant and we usually join him outside so he can play while mommy and daddy have a peaceful meal under the stars.
