We always have a great experience at Longhorn. We were there recently and it was great. Service is always friendly and spot on. The restaurant is very clean and the booth was very comfortable. We started with the spicy chicken bites. They were tasty. I had the filet cooked rare. It was tender and just fantastic!! The bread slathered in butter was fresh, warm and great dipped in steak juices. We got dessert to bring home, the caramel cheesecake. So yummy! I'm drooling thinking about it.

This is a regular place that I frequent. Service is sometimes hit or miss but the food and drinks is always good.

I would normally go with a 3 but this visit gets the fourth star solely because these days it's hard to get a steak temp correct and tonight the steak cook was on point (medium rare)! Texas onion was ok but the dip was a bit on the mayo side. Bread and rice were ok and the baked potato was great with big crispy salt flakes all over the skin. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The wait was about 10-15 minutes to be seated on a Friday night however there were a decent amount of tables open and we were only a party of two. The wait for food was about 20-30 minutes. They seemed staffed enough but who knows. Ambiance is ok but the carpet ruins it with a bit of a foul smell, ever time I leaned back from taking a bite of food I could smell an oder coming from under the table of a dirty old carpet. Table light and accents need a good wipe down especially the ketchup bottle that had someone's previous steak sauce fingers all over it.

7/25/24 In our book club we rotate among us a person picks the next book, the restaurant and they drive so we had lunch here at Longhorn! I ordered the 8 oz hamburger and my side was a salad; I cut burger in half from start and took home. We had several who ordered the burgers and the soup/salad combo. Everyone was nice and Kiwi our server couldn't be sweeter!

My spouse and I came here for dinner, April waited on us, I'd give her 5 stars, perfect service. She was friendly but mature about it. No fake smiles, no bored demeanor of some waitresses that just try to get through their shift. She was attentive, helpful, and warm. We couldn't have asked for more. As for the food, we started with the complimentary bread and butter. It was hard to cut but we didn't come for the bread. Everything else we ordered was absolutely mouth watering. My fav salad, Ceasar, was great. The seafood chowder, delicious. My husband ordered the filet and lobster, they were outstanding. I ordered the sirloin and shrimp, both wonderful! Although I do like my medium-rare steak a tad more on the rare side, it really didn't take away from the flavor. The cinnamon sugared and buttered sweet potato was out of this world. Even the rice was good. Needless to say, we couldn't fit dessert so we had to forgo it but we were completely satisfied. It was our 18th wedding anniversary, we are new to the area and didn't know where else to go. I think we chose wisely and will be back.

We had a little bit of a wait in lobby but were happily entertained by another little guest dancing. The decor is cute Longhorn Western themed and restaurant is clean. Our server was great and brought our drinks and fresh bread quickly. We ordered an appetizer and got to fully enjoy it before our salad arrived. Sadly we wanted the Porterhouse that they were out of so we enjoyed a Ribeye instead (my dog thoroughly enjoyed the bone too). We enjoyed our meals and had enough for lunch the next day. They have full bar, house margaritas, wine/beer etc.I rebelled and ordered white wine even though I was eating red meat.

A mega 'side' Salad! It's amazing! Get this!

We came in on a Wednesday evening. We asked about the menu and were told at the counter that it was Wing Wednesday and the wings were $1 each. Well how could we not add those onto our order. We ordered a Burnt Ends platter with mac and cheese, and corn nuggets, a Brisket Platter with corn nuggets and beans. We also ordered a large mac for my son and a side of lean brisket. For the wings we ordered the Cajun ranch. Our food started coming out in about 5 minutes. Firstly, I was shocked at the wings. I love wings, but they aren't something I usually order often as I find them just OK. There are only a couple places that I visit specifically for wings. Well, let me tell you, I would make a visit back just for these wings. OMG, the Cajun ranch was simply amazing, really addictive. They were my favorite item. We devoured them. The burnt ends were very good. I appreciate they are big chunks of brisket with no pull pork filler. The flavor was amazing as well and the bits of fat melted in our mouth. The corn nuggets were fine and the Mac N Cheese was quite tasty. We enjoyed the meal so much, were were trying to figure out somewhere for a family lunch the next Sunday and came back again. This time my sister, son and I brought my dad. We of course ordered more wings and burnt ends and brisket with lots of Mac N Cheese. The food really is something special. The wings are absolutely wonderful and the burnt ends are a hit. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants and will always be on my list of visits to enjoy when I come back to Jax.

The service was steady and I came in around 5ish so it didn't pick up til after I arrived. The staff were nice and polite. It was quiet but had several tables occupied. The chicken was moist and dipped with the spicy bbq enhanced the flavor. All sides were seasoned well especially the green beans and collard greens. Cornbread was good, just note it does have jalapeños. I would say the only feedback was the brisket appeared to be more lean than moist. When we ordered the moist brisket a few weeks ago, it was a lot more marbled, looser and fattier than what we received in this order which was less marbled with leaner cuts. So it appears the staff may had gave the lean than the moist cut... Other than that, everything was good, but perhaps the staff could have additional guidance in brisket cut differences.

Best BBQ in Jacksonville. Period…read more In my 6 week trip to Jax, I sought out some BBQ joints. Now, I'm no connoisseur, I am not from an elite BBQ region and I know that Jacksonville is not a BBQ go to area. But that said, I tried a few places in the region and 4 Rivers is the only spot I'd repeat visit. Service is friendly and prompt, and they were helpful with putting me on their best items. The brisket was moist, tender and flavorful. The ribs? To die for. Best I've had in Florida. The burnt ends are a combination of brisket and pork, which compliments one another nicely. I loved the beans! The corn was the only thing I found lacking, tasted too much like canned corn for my taste. Their nice seating area is big and welcoming and they have numerous sauces for you. We really enjoyed the blueberry bbq over by the fountain drinks. It went well with the ribs! Overall, must visit for Jax! Thanks guys! See you soon!

The food is outstanding, the drinks are great, and the service is always quick, friendly, and attentive. We started with the Fritos Pie and added pulled pork--such a great decision! It made an already delicious appetizer even better. For our entrée, we shared the Texas "Trinity" (the "give me all the meats" option), which comes with ribs, sausage, and brisket. The ribs were unbelievable--fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The sausage comes in two varieties: regular and cheddar jalapeño. The cheddar jalapeño has a nice kick without being overpowering and was absolutely worth trying. On this visit, we upgraded our sides to two fresh salads, but during our first visit we had the baked beans and coleslaw, and they were both fantastic. Honestly, everything we've tried has been delicious. If you're spending the day at Neptune Beach and need a break from seafood, ABBQ is a must-visit. We've already been back twice, and it definitely won't be our last!

I keep trying to give them another chance, so when they invited me to make a reservation for the World Cup game tonight, I took the bait. I should have gone to Mojo's or Strings instead! I stopped ordering a brisket sandwich long ago because the buns were always hard and stale. Lately, I've been going with the two meat plate because the sides are usually very good, especially the potato salad and cowboy baked beans. The turkey is usually pretty good as are the ribs, but the brisket is always pathetic, especially for a guy from Texas looking for perfection. To be fair to the management, the bar and atmosphere never fails to impress me, but when I am missing good old fashioned Texas barbecue brisket, I will be going somewhere else that knows what they are doing. Come on y'all... My summary: over rated, over priced, and over done. Low and slow is the barbecue brisket mantra, but the pit master needs to go back to Texas for a refresher course in Austin, in my humble opinion!!!

My family, the six of us, most who live very close, my wife and I, visiting from CA, made our usual visit to Woodpecker's during an "around Florida" vacation. We visited many spots of my youth between Jax & St. Petersburg while dining at old favorites and several BBQ joints along the way. Without a doubt, Woodpecker's Backyard Barbecue was the best by far. The last time we were there, the turkey stole a show as it was the best turkey I have ever eaten in a barbecue restaurant. This time the brisket was the number one meat, equalling or bypassing any I have had anywhere, even in the many Texas joints we have tried. It was right up there with Franklin's and other top Texas offerings. All of their meats were extremely good. Their sides are very interesting as well as good tasting utilizing a lot of dátil pepper to flavor several and add a little bite of spice. My only wish is that it was closer than the 2547 miles away that it is. If you are anywhere near woodpecker's backyard, barbecue, go. Go. Go. You will not regret it.
