Our party checked in and was told to wait an hour, but the host failed to take a name and only took a number. After an hour of waiting we asked when we would be seated and the host stated she has never "seen any of our faces before" and that we will need to wait another hour. I proceeded to ask to speak with a manager and she said she was the manager, so I asked them to check the cameras because we are being unfairly treated. She said she doesn't know how to use the cameras, while being a manager, and said only her boss knows how to use them. So I asked to speak with her boss and she said she wasn't there at the moment. I felt like I was being lied to and the host felt very disrespectful. If this is how guests are treated before they are even sat, I wouldn't want to know how actual customers are treated. read more

To start off with it's been a while since I've come across a restaurant that I've had to give lower than three stars too. But the wife and I were just recently out on date night and chose something more unique than just the average chain steakhouse so we saw Longhorns and thought it was pretty unique and wanted to stop in. It was about 8 PM in the evening. When we walked in, we thought it was odd that there were so many open tables and boots available but we're told that it would be at least 15 minutes before we could be seated. So we decided to sit at the bar and order a drink before we received our text message letting us know our table is ready. actually, the bartender barely had enough time to give us our drinks before we were called back to the hostess stand. When we arrived at the stand, the gentleman that was going to help us with our table was confused as to why we were there. I gave him my name and told him that we had received our text. He was still confused and said that they did not have a table ready yet. And that they have to rush to get one prepared since it was obviously their mistake today and sent us the text. Their attitudes were horrible they seem like they were grudgingly helping us to our table. They didn't ask us if we had a choice between a table or a booth. We prefer booths. When we told them that they said that there wasn't one available only table was prepared. As we sit down, we noticed that there were several booths actually open and available and this time of night couldn't imagine that they were a whole lot of reservations holding any of those booths, but we went ahead and tried to continue on tonight to enjoy ourselves. We sent for at least 20 minutes before even being approached by a single server, or anyone acknowledging that we needed service. We had no silverware, no menus and no acknowledgment of our existence in the restaurant at all. What's making me write? This review is the fact that I sent and I watched literally eight employees gather around a counter and just wanted to stand around and talk to each other look like mostly just socialization between each other. Not once did anyone of them look up pay attention to us or even feel like maybe they were awkward all standing there together as a group when they were folks like ourselves, and the table next to us, they were obviously not receiving any service. We were finally served with what seem like a very lame excuse, and apology that we had already had drinks in front of us so it looked like we had already been served. We had no menus we had no silverware, and all we had were our bar drinks that seemed very awkward and strange to me. I went ahead and ordered. The New York strip comes with two sides. I ordered a big potato and the loaded baked potato soup. My wife with us much smaller appetite just wanted to share a little bit of my plate and an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms. In conclusion, restaurants don't have very much they can rely on if they lose their service and their food. That is to say that the food was horribly cooked over seasons, and at best resembled some thing that you might order in an IHOP did not stand out as special at all , I was wondering where the value was going to come in since the service had completely failed as well. The only thing I can say that was genuinely good was the bar drinks that we had were prepared efficiently, and they didn't scam to on the alcohol, which is appreciated, because we needed something to ease our nerves after the horrible service followed up by mediocre food. I may try to give this place a second chance in the future but for now I don't recommend it unless somebody wants to try it out for a lunch or take their chances. Perhaps you'll have a different experience than I did but again I don't recommend this particular restaurant. read more

Driven by this "pretender" dozens of times, who cared? Now, I do. It's this simple: a 10 oz marinated salmon, on rice, nice small salad, with a delicious blue cheese dressing (& the white balsamic is pretty good, too), plus a side, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! $19! You cannot beat that! (One disappointment is it the salmon marinade doesn't last. First bite will hit you in the face and then probably never again -- and I don't know why. But, it's still delicious!) One more main point; a main theme to me here is, has, and will be, "owner operated '. I want someone on premises WHO CARES. The "Partner" of this unit has been here every visit, VERY CAPABLE! $19 is a really good deal!!! Bunch of 'em around town. I know this is a Darden Restaurant. I was looking forward to dining at Longhorn Steakhouse since we don't have them in California. We noticed the parking lot was a kinda empty for a Sunday evening. We stood in the front for 5 minutes waiting for a host to greet us. Definitely, not a good impression... They weren't busy so they should of had a host at the door. We were seated about 2 minutes after we were greeted. The waitress came up to the table and took our order for our drinks. We ordered ice tea and water. Then we ordered fried pickles for an appetizer. The waitress brought us bread and fried pickles but forgot to bring us plates. I guess they work a bit different compared to restaurants in California. I ordered the outlaw ribeye with a baked potato and a salad. I stacked up the appetizer plate and the salad plates so the waitress could get the hint to remove them. Unfortunately, they left the dirty plates on the table when they bought us our main course. I had to flag down another waitress to take the dirty plates. Not sure if they just don't care or they don't have common sense. I usually put my empty glass by the edge of the table to hint to the waitress that I need a refill. This didn't work with our waitress even after passing a few times. I had to ask for a refill. My ribeye was nearly on point. It was cooked to my order. The only thing it was a bit too salty which other yelpers also mentioned. I definitely was in heaven while eating my steak. The baked potato was also good. We were celebrating my father n laws birthday so the waitress brought us ice cream with whipped cream. That was a nice touch. We have visited the Surprise longhorn location and did not have the greatest experience. We are now frequent visitors of this location because we receive the best service. We specifically ask for Ana as our waitress because she is kind and patient. She always asks us about seasoning and how we want the steaks cooked. We've never had to ask for refills as she always brings them out accordingly. When we dine in we make sure to ask for Diego to cook our food as it never has to be sent back, the steaks are always perfectly cooked. The Flo's filet should be renamed the Diego filet! We unfortunately will be moving a little bit further but will make the special trip to continue to dine here. read more

On our long drive from Mexico to Canada we stayed near the Longhorn Steakhouse in west Phoenix. I wasn't expecting greatness from a chain restaurant, but I got it! While the food was really good (my filet was cooked perfectly and very tender), it was our server Cindy that made it great. She was so genuine and authentically nice, it made our experience top notch. Kind, friendly, just the right amount of attention to our needs - a perfect server. I ordered a 6 oz steak with some shrimp that came on some delicious rice with a side of crispy Brussel sprouts. It was all good but those sprouts were DELICIOUS! My mans steak was over cooked but they had no problem redoing it for him to perfection and they threw in more shrimp for him too. Our server Liz was very attentive and kind. She kept our drinks full the whole time, checked in a convenient amount of time, and got us everything we needed. She had some sparkles in her hair and I just thought that was a cute addition to spark a little happiness in people (: Only 4 stars because we had to send the steak back to be recooked. By the time it was redone we were full from everything else but it was okay; we just took it in a Togo box. But everything we got was delicious and the service was perfect. read more

We've been coming in on and off since this place opened. In the beginning it was great. But it seems like each year they get new management and new staff. Why do we keep coming back??? Because there are 3 people in our family with hearing issues and if you go between 4-5. It's fairly quiet. That's the only reason we keep coming back. Because the meals are hit or miss as to whether it's gonna come out right or not. They BOLDLY season their steaks which means you have to ask for no seasonings because even if you ask them for light salt and pepper only. It will still be inedible. As salty as a salt lick and just as peppery. This last trip was again a disappointment from the moment we walked in. I explained we needed a quiet table because of hearing issues. They stuck us in a booth right under a speaker. They didn't ask if we wanted a table or booth. We prefer tables as is harder to get out of booths with bad knees but we're given a booth. They really should ask. As there was only 1 to 2 tables with people in them there were plenty of both. But we went with the flow. We ordered 2 porterhouse steaks 1 rare and medium rare no seasoning, side salads and potatoes one no sour cream And one with no cheese. The potatoes were wrong both had cheese and sour cream. BOTH steaks were rare. I mean tartare rare. Which was fine for me but not for the other steak. Of course the waitress never came back to check on us until I flagged someone down. They fixed one potato. But not the steak. We had a coupon for dessert which was good. This was our anniversary dinner. We had not been in for about 4 months due to the last 2 visits going wrong. We should have gone elsewhere. But decided to try again. I should have known better If the steak house down the street wasn't so noisy we would just go there and not come back. read more

We were very disappointed with our dinner tonight. We ordered to go meals on different occasions and our food has always been on point. No complaints what so ever. Tonight we had ribeye steak that was ordered medium temp. It was so rare that we couldn't cut it or chewed it. It came with rice, shrimp, and baked potato with everything. The rice was so salty it burnt our tongue and toppings for the baked potato were missing. Also ordered Parmesan chicken, that was almost as salty as the rice. I've been here quite a few times and usually the service is top notch when I sit at the bar. I usually get the same lady and she's fantastic, however tonight's experience was definitely different than the usual. Sat in the same area, the bar, and the bartender ignored us for the better part of 10 min, until my significant other walked up to the bar to ask for help. She responded with "if someone's not busy, I'll take care of you." Okay? That's rude. My husband and I were visiting friends in the area, and visited this location. I've eaten at other LongHorn locations, so knew what to expect - a really good choice of steaks, fish, chicken and good sides - comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere. And from that aspect, we were not disappointed - the food was great for the most part. I had the 12 oz ribeye, medium rare and it was perfect! One of the better steaks I've had in a while. I splurged on the baked potato, and again - it was the perfect texture and balance of toppings. Salads were cold and crisp, and our fried green tomato appetizer was also done perfectly - I like the drizzle of sauce and goat cheese topper on a bed of lettuce. Nicely done! Friends ordered the smaller filets (to me, they looked a little flat, but my friends enjoyed it), and my husband ordered the chopped steak with everything on the side and no seasoning - he likes to taste the meat. He was disappointed. the meat was a tight grind, and was clearly pan fried, not grilled. Everything else was great. And we all had leftovers. Where they fell down on this trip was service. I'm a very forgiving customer - I recognize that servers can be impacted by a slow kitchen, or big parties, or a myriad of things that are not within their control. And if I can tell they are hustling, and trying to make a difference, then they still get a big tip. However - that's not what was happening. It was Saturday night - busy, but no wait. We were seated promptly, and given menus, but it was at least 10 minutes before our server appeared and another 5 minutes before we were given our teas and water. The server "A" was very nice, but seemed to lack confidence and we had to ask him to repeat himself a few times. Once we ordered, we received our appetizer and salads timely. I will give this location a lot of kudos - three of the four of us had special orders (hold this, extra this, put this on the side), and they didn't flinch, and even checked on us a couple of times to make sure things were to our liking. And - they got it right. But the chopped steak came out several minutes after the other meals. They also lost a point that they mixed up two of our plates - and it wasn't until we took a bite that we realized it. We're good friends, so we just switched plates, but in a different situation, it would have been really awkward. After dinner, it took a LONG time to bring us the boxes for leftovers and then they didn't come by to pick up the dirty dishes - even after we paid the tab. That's a big no-no in my book. So will we be back - probably. But I hope management gives their team members a little more coaching. Because overall the food was good for a chain restaurant. read more

And........all I could taste was Salt and Pepper. It was hands down the saltiest steak that I've ever had in my life. I paid my tab and left a good tip because it's not the waitress fault.
