Wow am I impressed with this hidden gem. I was In town with family and decided to give this spot a try since we were looking for a Hong Kong style cafe. This cafe did not disappoint! When we arrived, there was a parking structure right below where you park for free and there is a lot of spots available. I liked the interior as it was open and comfortable seating. We were greeted quickly and sat in a round table. There was 5 of us and it was comfortable as the table was spacious. There was quite a large crowd when we arrived at 1145, right before the lunch time menu hit, but it didn't stop them from getting our food out quick! It reminded me of Hong Kong with how quick the food arrived after we ordered. From the congee to the satay beef Ramen is how I remembered it to be. The flavors were there and oh how happy my soul was as I was devouring everything! My boyfriend got the peanut butter French toast and he loved it! It filled him up. My mom and grandma who are tough critics loved the flavors to the point where my grandma was looking to come here on the same day for dinner (next time!) The menu is extensive! There was a lot to choose from. Prices are wonderful too. We ended up spending not even $100 with drinks and food. Since drinks are refillable twice, we got a refill to go for the lemon tea. Tried out Longten Cafe for dinner and it was alright! I've been here before when they were still under a different name so I was surprised to see it had changed ownership. I ordered the century egg and pork congee and felt like it fell a bit flat for me in terms of flavor. The portion size though was great - it can easily be shared amongst 2-3 hungry people. Their honey garlic pork chop is very nice. Very sweet and flavorful. They also gave us sweet dessert soup and it was also just alright. Very sugary and filled with tapioca but the pearls were a bit mushy. The prices here are very good - expect to pay under $15 per person. We went after a football game, wanted to find a place that stayed open to at least 10 pm on a Saturday night. We tried Longten a couple of seasons ago so decided to go back and see if it still fit the bill. It did and we will be coming back! We loved the convenient and spacious underground parking, felt safe and clean. We arrived 45 minutes before closing and had excellent service and were never hurried. We ordered comforting food, Peking pork chops were generous and tasty, Szechuan eggplant, dry fried green beans, and pig's feet with egg noodles, all yummy. The only disappointing thing was that they had turned off the steamer to make rice rolls, so couldn't order that. I'm lovin' these retro looking Cantonese cafes. It brings me back to late 80s, early 90s Hong Kong movies. White dresses, big hair, bright red lipstick, lighted checkerboard window walls in a nightclub and an appearance by either Simon Yam, Chow Yun Fat, Eric Tsang or Maggie Cheung. Longten has an unassuming 2nd floor entrance that is not street facing and is above a recessed parking structure (parking is free). It has a puke yellow ceiling that gives way to a luminescent high ceiling. This is sooo late 80s and so fitting. They have booths and tables. Beef w/ Black Bean Sauce Chow Mein (double yellow crispy style) - This dish is my custom order when I have haven't been to an Hong Kong cafe for awhile. Usually the Beef w/ Black Bean Sauce is served with thick white chow fun rice noodles but most places can easily substitute in crispy noodles instead if you ask. They did up the noodle nice and crispy and there was plenty of tender beef slices to go with the onions, red bell peppers and green bell peppers. Everything was as expected which is a good thing. Pineapple Bun w/ Butter ($3.95) - When they put a pineapple bun on a menu at an HK cafe, it is really hard for me to resist. I know I can buy it an Chinese or Taiwanese bakery. But at a restaurant the crusted crumbly top just crumbles harder. The fat pat of butter seems like an overdone luxury. I'm worth it. The have a lot of the HK cafe staples here. Sandwiches, congee, stir fry dishes, wonton noodles, rice noodles, chow mein, combo dinner platters like pork chop and chicken. Portion size is good, prices reasonable and service was quick. Sure there a number of HK cafes in the area. I like Longten because the food is solid and it's less hectic than some of the more popular places. Hong Kong Style cafe off of Garvey with its own parking underground. It's easy to miss the entrance to the underground parking, so don't drive too fast. Parking is free, so that's a plus. Service is so-so. The female waitresses have this annoyed demeanor. They seem to have low patience and just want to quickly get their job done. The male waiters are a bit nicer. In general, don't expect outstanding, friendly, service. Think more of that traditional fast-paced Asian restaurant service. When we entered, we were seated right away. The tables and seating areas were clean, so they get an A for that. In terms of the food, it was NOT good. We felt everything was heavily starched and excessively saucy. 1. Szechwan Eggplant (2.5/5) Given the name Szechwan, you would think it would have some heat, but it was instead sweet and tasted like ketchup. 2. Beef Pan-Fried Rice Noodle (3/5) This was a very interesting dish that I have not seen anywhere else. It's basically as the name implies ... pan-fried rice noodle (instead of dough) with starchy beef coated in some sauce in the middle. The flavor was not bad, but not memorable neither. It fills you up quick. 3. Crispy Bean Curd with XO Sauce (4/5) It's basically their version of fried tofu. It came kinda dark, so we thought it was nearly burnt at first, but fortunately, it was not burnt. The outside had a nice crisp, while the inside was very soft and not dry at all. The salt/pepper garlic seasoning complimented the tofu well. 4. Bitter Melon with Beef (2/5) Let's just say the melon was definitely BITTER. The dish again, was heavily coated in starch -- excessively thick sauce that coated the beef and the melon. 5. Hong Kong Style Milk Tea (5/5) Very good milk tea with strong tea fragrance. I like that it was not too sweet at all. They have condense milk at each table for you to add to your drink to sweeten it to your own liking. A+ for allowing up to 2 refills. Totally the highlight dish/beverage and worth it. 6. Chicken with Chili Oil Sauce (2.5/5) The chicken was tender and fresh, but the sauce was too salty. We also wished the oil had more of a sesame or fragrance to it. 7. Chicken with Broccoli (2/5) Another heavily starched dish. The broccoli was fresh, but overall, the sauce was bland and it just felt heavy with the thick coat of starch sauce. 8. Lamb Stew in Clay Pot (1/5) The lamb was poor quality and it was cooked in some off-putting colored sauce that was the color of liver pate. It was thick and also lacked flavor. Yuck! I ordered the breakfast special to go, a porridge and chow mein and it came with a hot milk tea. I loved how much attention to detail they put in packaging the to go order. They put take on top of the opening of the to go cup so it wouldn't spill everywhere and there was cardboard to keep the porridge stable in the plastic bag. Food was delicious. Wasn't busy for dinner on a Monday. I enjoyed the food. Got the porridge which was very flavorful for what it was. Portions were quite reasonable overall. Also tried out baked white fish and spinach with creamy sauce on spagetthi which was surprisingly good. It took almost 30 minutes to arrive though but nbd if you aren't in a rush. You pay via a tablet that they bring up to you. Personally don't like that the default tip choices are 18%, 20% and 22%, I feel that is way too high especially with the waiters standing next to you. It has been a while since I've gone here or don't remember the name Longten. However, if you're in the MKP area, this is an iconic place as the building itself has been here for a very long time. I've gone here for two weeks straight on a Sunday afternoon after basketball. Plenty of seating available and very spacious place. First time I had ordered their Chicken Steak with Rice and Black Pepper Sauce. The chicken steak was pretty good. Flavorful black pepper steak that complimented well with the chicken steak. Crispy skin which made it a plus. Second time, I had their Hainan Chicken. The hainan chicken was ok here. I thought the chicken itself was small in terms of the concentration of bones to meat. It was mostly small pieces closer to the bone area. The other dishes here was good though. Their shrimp flour roll and bbq pork flour roll were good here. Definitely a must to get here. The drinks both the ice lemon tea and coffee/tea were ok. I've had drinks that were better elsewhere. Food wise, I'd come again along with the good service. read more

Sadly, this place has definitely gone downhill, or maybe the ladies are especially more comfortable with Chinese speaking elderly (with whom I came with previous times). One of the things that Vegas lacks is HK restaurants with HK breakfast so whenever I'm visiting, I always try to fit an HK breakfast somewhere. I typically go to Alice's Kitchen whenever I'm in town but I saw Longten Cafe pop up during one of my searches and I figured that I'd give them a go. My husband and I arrived between 8-9AM on a Sunday morning. There is underground parking, which is extremely convenient. When we walked in, we were seated promptly and I noticed that it wasn't crowded at all. Maybe because it's still pretty new and there are a lot of competition in the area? We got: Preserved egg and pork porridge (congee) -- it does come with a drink and your choice of Chinese donut, soy sauce fried noodle, soy sauce fried flat noodles, or pineapple with butter. We decided to get the pineapple with butter and for my drink, I went with an iced HK style lemon iced tea. The congee was really yummy. It had good flavor and just the right amount of salt! A lot of places sometimes don't season their congee enough and it comes out incredibly plain. But Longten's has really good flavor! The pineapple with butter wasn't that great. I found the pineapple bun to be overcooked and dry. The butter couldn't even save it so maybe next time, I will get the Chinese donut. The lemon ice tea was great. It wasn't too sweet at all. We also got an order of the BBQ pork rice noodle. It had good amount of BBQ pork pieces and is covered with the sweet soy. It was pretty good! I really enjoyed it. Overall, Longten may be our new go-to for HK styled breakfast. Next time, we're definitely trying their noodles! We looked over at another table and saw something that looked tasty so we ordered it. Turned out to be deep fried ribs for $30 something dollars which was pretty steep for lunch time. We ordered the following from the breakfast/lunch menu. ++(Breakfast) Chicken Steak w/ 2 over easy eggs - comes with toast, pineapple bun + drink Hot Coffee Milk Tea - $12.95 - Yum! Got two pieces of smaller sized chicken steak but they were quite tasty. Not too salty with a crisp on the skin. Flavored simply and not complex but hits the spot. White bread toast was tasty and when you put both butter and jam on it - it's chef's kiss! Over easy eggs were not over done, also simple. I ate the eggs with some chili oil and a little vinegar for that tang haha. -Hot coffee milk tea was okay. I couldn't really taste the coffee and felt like the milk tea overpowered it. They give you condensed milk on the side (like other HK Cafes) so you can go ham on that if you want to. ++(Lunch) Wonton Noodles Soup includes drink Iced Lemon Tea - $10.95 - My husband's choice. It comes with 4 pieces of wontons and veggies. The veggies tasted a little funky (idk kinda like it's been in the fridge for too long?), but the wonton soup had that sweet flavor. Since it was our first time visiting the establishment, my husband and I took a little extra time to figure out what we wanted to order. So one staffber checked on us to order but since we needed more time, we ended up having to flag someone else to come take our order. I did want to add that the staff members are all in a hurry/busy and don't really check on you. However, if you are okay with flagging them down, it shouldn't be too much of an issue for you. Just keep this in mind when coming here lol. Seating: Only indoor seating and it actually looks quite nice and decorated inside. It has a circular window and a bigger space in the middle. Parking: Underground parking is available. It's not my favorite areas to park but there were ample spots when we came. The food came out really quick and there was no wait on a Friday at noon! DON'T SLEEP ON THE PINEAPPLE BUNS! These are a must order. I've driven by this place so many times when I lived in MPK. I finally decided to stop by a few months ago and have chosen this as my go to Chinese restaurant when in the SGV. Not only is the food good, but their prices are reasonable. Not to mention that every time I've gone, I didn't have to wait and the servers have been super nice. I like that their stir fry items like chow mein/chow fun has good wok hay taste to it. Their salted pork chops have consistently been tender and seasoned correctly. Parking is downstairs and you can take the stairs or an elevator to go up to the restaurant. The food took a while to come, but when it did, it really hit the spot for us. I love Hong Kong style cafes and was so excited to try Longten Cafe. Parking was easy because there is an underground parking lot and the plaza didn't seem that busy on a Saturday afternoon. The interior is very spacious and has a ton of seats. Service is so friendly and attentive, and our food came out pretty quickly. Their lunch specials are a great deal and the window to order from it is so big! We got the baked pork chop in tomato sauce with spaghetti and deep-fried pork chop with spicy salt. I also got the HK milk tea. The portions are HUGE and the dishes were delicious. I lovedddd the deep-fried pork chop! The batter is so addicting. I didn't think it was spicy at all (the most I tasted was black pepper seasoning and there were a few fried pepper bits). I would have loved if there were chilis on it because it is advertised as being spicy, but it is also good as is! I'm not really a fan of baked dishes in HK cafes, but the one we ordered was fine! We wished the bits of pork chop were cut smaller, but there are many pieces inside so we were happy about that. The HK milk tea I got was super bitter, but they thankfully had sugar and condensed milk on a tray on the table. I sweetened it A LOT and it helped a little bit. I probably wouldn't order this again.
