My family and I have been searching for decent Chinese food in the area for years. Have tried many and always wind up disappointed. Decided to take a little drive to Loomis and so happy we did. Found this small family owned joint. Food was delicious!! Fantastic flavorful won ton soup, pot stickers with yummy dipping sauce!!! The fried rice was flavorful for a change and we all loved the orange chicken which was sweet with heat!! Can't wait to go back to begin to work thru the menu !! Seriously, we have yet to have a bad meal. The service is wonderful and they are really good with our 4 kids...which is super important when going out to eat with a large family. You can get any item on the menu with your lunch order which is super cool. Most places limit you on your options for lunch. We visit regularly! read more

Well... we ordered the family dinner with two items... barely ate any of the garlic chicken (mostly onion and other nonmemorable veggies) and the breaded (ick) sweet and sour prawns. The egg rolls were stuffed full of cabbage and carrots and nothing to break up the long shreds. Seemed cheap and just wasn't good food. With the heavy 3-day holiday weekend traffic, somehow we made it to the city of Loomis to get some food. This restaurant is off of the I-80 and within distance of the exit. Matt and wife went here for dinner, and had a craving for a rice-plate and greasy noodles. But this restaurant don't serve any of the popular lunch dishes for dinner. It's no big thing...we went for Plan-B: Healthy route!! (Scary,huh?) We ordered the Steamed-Chicken and Steamed Gai-lan with Oyster-Sauce. The $10.00 sliced Steamed-chicken was very tender and complimented very well with the special sauce on the side. The $6.00 veggie side was very crunchy and tasted well with/without the Oyster-Sauce. Also, rice was served with the meal, but the restaurant charged $1.50 a large bowl which was plenty for the both of us. The restaurant gave us potent-tea and a warm and soothing red-bean soup for dessert. A good solid dinner for us!! Just by coincident, we were on our way to watch a Hong-Kong singer in concert in Reno, and this restaurant plays some Hong-Kong music, including some slow-jams. This is my all time favorite Chinese food restaurant. I grew up in Penryn, CA, which neighbors Loomis. My family went here often. I haven't been in a while as I now live farther away, but I miss it dearly. Your meal starts off with egg drop soup, crispy won tons, egg roll, and sweet and sour. They also have an upgraded version with shrimp, but I'm allergic. This is probably my favorite part. The soup is the best egg drop I have had. It has a great broth with chicken, vegetable, and egg. Their egg rolls are the best I have ever had, they're pork. Everything is so flavorful! I feel like so many other places are bland. For entrees I love their Mandarin chicken, Kung Pao chicken, Mu Shu pork, General Tsao chicken, and their chow mein. I am a huge fan of chow mein, and theirs is the BEST! Their tea is also so good. Most of the time Chinese restaurants don't even bring you tea any more and if they do it is bland. Theirs is flavorful. I highly recommend this place! read more

My wife and I live just up the street, and have partaken in their fare multiple times. The first time we ate there we chose to dine in which was a mistake. It was dinner time in which we ordered Chow Mein and 2 additional sides. None of our items came to the table together, and seemed to be delivered over a span of approximately 10 minutes. However, the food was simply amazing as everything was fresh and very tasty. Delicious Sesame Beef, Sweet n Sour Pork, and Lemon Chicken BTW! Oh and the Cream Cheese Wontons. Since then 90% of the time we choose to order take out in which we are always told it will be ready in 10 minutes. We have never had an order turn out to wrong and it has always been ready on time. If you are in need of a quick lunch, they offer wonderful lunch specials that include Fried Rice/Chow Mein and your choice of a side for around 6 bucks. I've been coming here since I was a little kid, so I don't know how much of my love for Loomis Chinese comes from good ol' nostalgia. But with that being said, it is wonderful. It's a tiny little restaraunt in a blink-and-you-miss-it shopping center, so it may not look like much from the outside - but believe me, it's much better than you would think. Their servers are very friendly, and if you go there often enough they begin to remember what you like and will sometimes bring it to you without being asked; when I was younger they'd always set out a Dr. Pepper for me almost as soon as I'd walked into the building. Things like that are what make small town places such as this so great. As for the food, it is delicious. You get a whole lot of it, too, and at an incredibly reasonable price. My suggestions: chow mein (or chow fun), wontons, sesame chicken, spicy crispy chicken, egg flower soup...oh, just order the whole menu and call it a day. read more

My first time here I called in and ordered take out. Couldn't find a menu online so choose items that were highly recommended on yelp reviews. Would have been nice to see a whole menu first. I ordered the chicken chow mein and the general chicken. Both were delicious. The worker was helpful on answering my questions about my concern with added MSG. And informed me that dishes containing soy sauce do contain msg because soy sauce already contains it. He said that they are more than happy to make it without the soy sauce or substitute a different sauce for a healthier alternative. I was very impressed with the taste of it all. Very good chinese food. Orange chicken was very good and had bits of orange peel in it, way better than panda express. We also had kung pow chicken and it was just right- not too hot and had lots of veggies to accompany the chicken. Let me tell you, this place is over priced for the "quality" of food they serve. The food was completely bland and didn't taste anywhere near traditional Chinese food. The food was saucy and messy and they add more vegetables in place of actual meat. The residents of Loomis don't know quality Chinese food based on all the previous good reviews. I can honestly say this was the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. Panda Express is actually better. Come on Loomis! Get a grip. read more

So I've totally been here twice. The first time was 2 years ago when we first moved here. We tried dine in, we didn't like it. Nothing impressive ... We didn't go there for 2 years. I spent over $2000/year on Chinese food, I usually go further to another Chinese restaurant in Rocklin: a lot more authentic Chinese food. Today, I decide to give them a second chance because they are a lot closer. This time I placed a to go order. When I went there, the whole lot was under construction so there was very limited place to park, in fact, only 4 handicap spots open. I drove around about 5 min, no place to park, so I stopped right in front of their door, and called them, asked if my food is ready and told them I can't get in. I was hoping they can take the food out and I would pay right from my car. The lady picked up the phone first told me she never received my order, then she said oh wait, here is your order blab la..I listened, no, that's not what I ordered. So I double/triple confirmed with her, she finally found my order. I told her I can't come in because no where to park, she said: everyone can come in, why you can't? Seriously? How about I am the unlucky person that when I come the last parking spot was taken?!! So rude and I thought: I am leaving...go ahead waste your food (i know my food was ready to pick up) I hang up the phone, thinking: first I didn't plan on other food and there is not enough time for me to get a different order from a different place during my short lunch break; second, I don't want to be as rude as them. So...I break the law, parked on handicap spot, bear the risk of $251 fine, picked up my food and left. The food, taste better than what's in my memory. So I give it a 2 star. The service, 1 star or 0 star or -1 star if I can. And we won't go there ever again. I'd rather drive far and spend my weekly $50 Chinese food budget happily on another Chinese restaurant. PS: when I leave, I looked around, except 1 handicap spot is open, all others are occupied by non-handicap cars. read more

Decided to give this place a try before going to see a movie. It was Martin Luther King day and there was only a couple other tables with people dining for Dinner. We ordered the Family Dinner with sweet and sour shrimp and Mongolian beef. The soup and appetizers were both very tasty! The entrees were both good, I think I'd try something other than the shrimp next time- as they were very similar to the shrimp appetizer that came with the dinner. But the Mongolian beef was very good and the service was great as well. Would definitely come back! read more

I think they used MSG as I had my usual reaction of extreme sleepiness from years ago lasted hours. Thought restaurants had stopped using it years ago. Female server was nice, male server must've been new, he picked up one main plate with food still on it without asking. We had mu shu chicken; and lobster shrimp (which had chicken in it too) but not any flavor in the sauce. Also they only offer white rice no brown or jasmine $ upgrade.
