It was my first time to try this place. Since it's my first time I just order a Al pastor taco. There were about 4 to 5 jalapeño which I took them off the taco. Then as I bite into it, it was so spicy and it tasted salty, and no pineapple. I was glad I only got one taco.

When in California it's hard to get bad Mexican food; there's good, better, and great. I'd put this place in the great category. Here's why: freshly handmade tortillas, home style food presented beautifully, and the family is just nice. I had the chilaquilles with steak -- a must-try. My friend had the menudo and said it was spot on.

Come here every so often and each time I am never disappointed. The place is small and the parking lot is also small with a bunch of potholes. However the food is worth it. So full of flavor. They have lots of food options. They are usually pretty quick with making the orders or packing to go. I love the option of calling over the phone or ordering online instead of making orders to go in person. Prices are decent. Portion sizes are good. I will definitely continue to come here

A local business and a family favorite, you can never beat the feeling of community like Los Potros. I went with my partner's family on a Saturday night, and there was just enough space to seat everybody. I was told that this was their all-time favorite restaurant, compared to the other two Mexican taquerias (Jorge's and La Mexicana), so I had to experience it for myself. We began our meal with a refreshing glass of horchata. The quality was impeccable, capturing the perfect balance of sweetness and spice -- it wasn't too sweet neither was it too watered down. It tasted really creamy and rich, and the cinnamon-infused flavor were a testament to the care and traditional methods likely were used. It was the ideal accompaniment, setting a delightful foundation for the rest of our culinary journey. The camarón a la plancha, which was my main dish, was presented with artistic flair, exemplifying sufficient plating that was both appetizing and aesthetically pleasing. Each seafood element was grilled to perfection, offering a delightful medley of textures and flavors that danced on our palates. The slight char from the grill enhanced the natural sweetness of the shrimp honestly, making each bite a flavor-packed experience. A key highlight of our meal was the tortillas--both corn and flour. The tenderness of the tortillas was noteworthy, likely crafted in-house with attention to authenticity and freshness. The corn tortillas were soft and subtly sweet, complementing the savory dishes perfectly, while the flour tortillas were equally tender, providing a light and pliable option to accompany the meal. The cleanliness of the restaurant was impeccable, reflecting a high standard of care and consideration for their patrons. Each table was spotless, and the ambience was calming and inviting. This attention to detail extended beyond the immediate dining area, imbuing a sense of safety and comfort that underpinned our entire experience. Overall, not only did we enjoy a delicious meal, but the environment and service collectively ensured that our visit was memorable. It was evident that this establishment takes pride in offering not just good food, but a comprehensive dining experience for everyone

Found this place, although it looks interesting from outside , it's very clean and cozy once you walk in. We were a party of 12, they got us table right away. Nice servers, if you're expecting like fast food style ( taqueria ) , it's not, we did wait a little bit for our food, but you can tell,they made it from fresh, the ingredients are fresh & tasty.

Simply the best carnitas and pastor I've had full stop. Driving to Yosemite from the Bay Area, I wanted to include a few stops along the way. Tracy was a logical location to search out some local traditional Mexican food. I love Yelp! The Guzman family at Los Potros have created a restaurant that is the perfect palate for their passion and creativity. Their Carnitas and Pastor are the best I've had not only in Tracy but in Northern California and that includes the Mission in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. My street tacos with traditional Carnitas and Pastor were so simple, but full of flavor and texture. I was so impressed with the street tacos that returned from my trip to Yosemite 4 days later to try their Enchiladas de Mole de Pollo. The lovely lady that served me was incredibly proud when she placed the plate in front of me that included 2 mole enchiladas with chicken, rice and beans - all for $14.00! The mole - an old family recipe was complex, chocolaty with deep flavors of roasted peppers and almonds. I savored every bite. Matt says if you find yourself near Tracy, or maybe on a road trip to Yosemite, think about a stop at Los Potros for a culinary experience you will never forget.

I like getting food here but ordered an asada breakfast burrito today and wasn't real happy with it. It was all meat and a little bit of cheese and possibly one egg. It was a real meat bomb. It's really hard, it seems, for restaurants to get the portions right in a breakfast burrito. The ratio between eggs cheese meat and potatoes needs to be correct. This one was not even close.

We've always enjoyed this restaurant. All the food we've tried has been great. This time we had street tacos, kid's enchilada plate and a bean/cheese/rice burrito. All the meats were awesome. Our favorite was the al pastor, although it was slightly greasy. The chicken was shredded and flavorful. The carne asada is also good. My daughter enjoyed her enchilada plate and my burrito was great. All the servers were friendly and fast. The dining area is small but has several tables that are clean and cozy. They also have good drink selection. Overall it's a great local place, and we will definitely be back.

Yum! We just moved to the area and based our choice off of yelp reviews and YELPERS!!! You did not disappoint! Tiny little place - we actually drive right past it - but my steak and shrimp burrito (plus avocado) was absolutely delicious from the first bite. My only complaint is that I couldn't finish it! This place is amazing!!! Tight fit the place is a literal hole in the wall. Homemade corn tortillas are absolutely delicious. We had the menudo w/hominy. You have to ask for it with hominy of you like it. And I had the whole large fish. Next time I'll be getting the medium or small or was so much food. The chips and salsa also had a lot of flavor. The staff was in a word AMAZING. From the moment we walked in to the time we left every one of the employees had a smile on their faces. The restaurant was at capacity and all the guess where served in a timely and friendly matter. Was constantly asked if everything was alright and my drink was never empty. The smells of cummin, onions, garlic and other classic Spanish food ingredients lofted in the air as sizzling plates of stake and seafood pass around the dinning room. Wow,never been so disappointed.., you definitely get better service if you order to go. Last time we went ,the door dash,food to go orders were given priority and if you were unfortunately seated at a table,the service was ridiculously slow. Decided to try again.., sorry ..,it was even worse. We sat for 8 minutes before we even got a menu while the "to go" and "door dash" food kept going Don't know what's going on, but the cocktail de camaron,1 soft taco came out after 12 minutes .My order of Chile relleno ,and carnitas tostasda took another 8 minutes, mean while watching the" to go" orders steadily streaming out.., Don't the customers dining inside deserve the same efficient service? Apparently not ,because the cheese in the Chile relleno was cold ,and unmelted. I motioned the server ,pointed to the cold unmelted cheese ,and said it was not edible. The plate disappeared, and another 8 minutes later the server said she's making another plate now. Meanwhile the "to go" orders continue to go out the door. Amazing tacos and even better service! Called in a order for 20 tacos and the service was fast and friendly. The food was packaged very carefully in aluminum containers. You can just tell that they take a lot of pride in their food. The quality of the tacos was so good that it doesn't even need salsa. I'm not sure if the tortillas are homemade but they definitely tasted fresh. The meat was flavorful and juicy. They have also set up a covid friendly operation. Everyone had masks and gloves. I ordered a carnitas burrito, 2 enchiladas rice and beans and a order of chips and salsa and it was $57! After she rang it up I asked if she could re ring it up because there's no way it was that expensive I never payed that much come to find out they gave me a jumbo bag of chips when I just wanted a side of chips and salsa and she gave me a whole damn cup of salsa when I just wanted small ones but even then I think that's ridiculous for 2 people way over priced carnitas were dry and had no flavor I was very disappointed wit the overall experience last time I will be going here. read more

I've been to place a total of 3 times (all for takeout), and was definitely a fan the first 2 times. It was recommended by hard-core fans of this place to order the wet burrito, so I did. Both times I ordered, the wait was about 15/20 minutes, but well worth it. The third time, I ordered over the phone and was given the wrong item, was overcharged, and there was still a 10 or 15 minute wait once I got there despite having called it in well before. Will continue to get my burritos from here but will make sure I order in person. Would have given it five stars if it weren't for the unfortunate phone order experience. read more

I went with the web burrito and everything in it was very bland. The beans, barbacoa, and the rice had no flavor. The red sauce tasted watered down and almost no taste. I think their food is geared towards people who are not Mexican and grew up eating Mexican food. Maybe I just ordered the wrong item as well but I've had this experience with their breakfast as well which I had previously chalked up to being just a simple breakfast. I won't say the name of other restaurants in this review but if you head west on eleventh, their is a sit down restaurant that is miles more authentic and flavorful than this place. read more

Good food. Bad parking. When it gets busy and there isn't a lot of parking in the lot next door it can be hard to find a spot. Kind of "a hole in the wall" place. Semi fast service depends on how busy it is but the people who work here make sure you get everything you need for your order. Eating here and finding a table is kind of like the parking. When it gets busy, it's hard to find a table. More tables for groups then couples or single diners. But most importantly THE FOOD TASTES DELICIOUS!! They offer a variety of Mexican food that you don't typically find on other menus. More choices and old favorites. read more

Food not good, really disappointed with the quality of food. Chicken in burritos, tacos and nachos look like boiled undercooked chicken with no flavor. Wait staff was friendly & efficient. Food was fresh & delicious. Everything made from scratch and made to order. Table salsa was very good with a nice bite to it. We had the cartinas plate and a chili relleno burrito, wet. The carnitas were well prepared, moist and flavorful. The chili relleno inside the burrito was yummy and the rice and beans and sauce just enhanced the fresh poblano chili they used. Both dinners were delicious. Food was like mama would make; it felt like we were eating love on a plate. This was our first visit and we will make a point to stop by again when we are in the area. The horchata and jamaica were also really good as well. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anybody who visits the city or wants another option.
