    Cobb salad

Lost Parrot Cafe is a cutesy cafe in Pasadena serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner! They offer coffee and alcohol which is always a plus in my book! The cafe is very cozy with big windows bringing in the natural light. You can sit indoors or outdoors. I didn't see a parking lot. But there were lots of street options. The staff were welcoming and very nice. I went with a Cobb salad and hubby got a burger & fries along with some drinky drinks. The salad was delicious! I had to remind them to bring the dressing, but no big deal. Unfortunately, hubbys food was cold. He's very particular with the temperature of his food but he's also not a complainer. The fries were good, they had this lime flavor seasoning. They would be amazing if they were hot. Nonetheless, I would give them another shot. Will most definitely come back to try their coffee.

The BLAT without tomato, personal preference. It's huge!

We enjoy the Lost Parrot so much we keep returning for more! Latin Cobb salad is well done, pepitas sprinkled on spring mix with choice of protein, a nice refreshing dressing that adds a tangy flavor to the dish. We also get the BLAT - bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato on toasty white flaky bread. Order a Lavender Lemonade on ice for a renewed sense of being! Enjoy this cozy family friendly spot. Order at the counter, get a number and self-serve coffee and water, condiments are nearby so you can help yourself to some hot sauce and to go containers.

Cute little spot with decent tacos, good guacamole and chips, and tasty margaritas. I mostly come for Taco Tuesdays, which can get pretty busy, and the experience can be a bit hit or miss depending on the day. They have a convenient salsa and water station, which is a nice touch. Orders come out fairly quickly, and parking is available on the street or in the back. Keep in mind, there is only one bathroom, so there may be a wait during busier times.

This place is a 5 across the board. Great food, amazing service, cool aesthetic, and the music playlist was A-1! Chilaquiles were so good. Crispy chips with a perfectly cooked egg on top served with just the right amount of salsa. The presentation was spot on too. Looked just as good as it tastes. The breakfast burrito was loaded with flavor. Every bite was better than the last. It will definitely fill you up. The coffee was amazing. They really put a lot of intention behind each ingredient used for their latte's. One of, if not, the best coffee + breakfast in Pasadena.

Blueberries pancakes, side of eggs and bacon.

Cute little cafe in SouthPas right off Huntington. Easy to find and has a full bar for all those brunch drinks. I ordered pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon for a total of $30 - pretty steep for a casual breakfast spot so I was expecting some pretty great pancakes. They were really REALLY dry and besides the blueberries, flavorless. The eggs were bland and the bacon was the only thing had a little flavor but then it's kinda hard to mess up bacon. Oddly enough the pancakes don't come with butter - you have to ask for the butter and slather it on the syrup to make the pancakes edible. If you're looking for just ambiance and cute charm, this is the place. But if you want actual good food, go elsewhere.

Fantastic coffee and breakfast! Vibes here are really cute. There's an outdoor area with ample seating that's great for a nice warm summer morning. Indoor is cute too. Food was delicious, portions were generous and prices were, too. Coffee was 10/10 (they use Jones Coffee Roasters). Definitely a great place to check out.

Now this was a find! During my walks, I walked next to this charming place. I'd see people enjoying themselves with the food and drinks they were partaking in. I told the husb we have to try it. I'm glad we did! Although it was lunch time, we opted for breakfast like items. The husb had the breakfast burrito, he said there was lots inside of it and it felt plentiful. The burrito had bacon, tater tots, eggs beans and cheese. He also enjoyed his tasty Bloody Mary. He highly recommends it! I had the classic breakfast, which included eggs, sausage, toast and potatoes. Very plentiful and tasty. Coffee was delicious as well. The ambiance is very relaxing, there's inside and outside seating. People with cute dogs usually sit outside, it's an old charming building. Employees are friendly, ready to strike a conversation if not too busy. We'll make it a regular on our brunch rotation!

    Avocado Toast and Tater Tots

Cozy, little cafe with a wide menu of various breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes. My partner and I stopped by for some avocado toast and tater tots. I really liked the bread used for the avocado toast. It was toasted to the perfect crispiness and wasn't super thick, making it easy to slice through and eat. The avocado spread was creamy and flavorful, while the soft boiled egg added a nice touch of protein. As for the tater tots, they were very crispy, served as a generous portion, and came with a side of ranch sauce. This ended up feeling like a nice, fulfilling meal. I am not sure if this restaurant is always super packed, but it felt very crowded on the day that we visited. The vibes did feel a bit strange, like the employee was trying to rush us when placing our order. The interior felt pretty cramped without much space to walk around, and there is a bar in the back. Luckily, there are some outdoor benches and tables, where we decided to sit. Our order was ready within 10 minutes, which is a reasonable wait time. There is some free street parking available around the cafe, as well as a small parking lot located behind the restaurant.

I came on a Saturday morning and found parking easily right in front of the the restaurant. I am a creature of habit and ordered the Breakfast Burrito without the turkey sausage and got extra bacon instead. It is so delicious with the eggs, onions, beans, cheese and potatoes. I love that the tater tots stay crunchy. It comes with tortilla chips and salsa. So yummy! Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is bright and airy and we were fortunate to get a table by the window.

this spot is nice and easy, everything you want in a cafe- you order your food at the counter and it's brought out to you, if you want or forgot a drink you can order that via QR code at the table- they're very accommodating! i haven't explored too much of the menu because the chilaquiles are so tasty, i keep ordering those and a latte as my go to but my husband has explored a couple other items and hasn't hit a bad one yet

You're going on a stroll or looking for a delicious breakfast/Brunch spot. Look no further than this delicious food spot with consistent food options for you! I have been here 2x and it continues to get better each time. In the peak hours, it gets busy and the ambiance is relaxed and calming and with a great breezy , it's delightful! The inside seating and outdoor seating is a great option . Check this out if you're looking for a new spot! 7/10. Enjoy the recommendation!

Lost Parrot Cafe was good and I'd definitely come back to try other items and drinks. My husband and I tried their chilaquiles and breakfast burrito. Both were good, but definitely nothing super great or delicious (which is okay, not a bad thing). We've just had better so it may be worth us trying out different items from the cafe instead. We didn't get any drinks but some of their coffee menu did really interest us, so we will have to come back to try. We came on a Sunday morning where it was busy but not too much. We found seats immediately after ordering and it seems to move pretty quickly. The service was also great!

My wife found this brunch spot and we decided to take a gander at the restaurant over the weekend and we weren't disappointed. Unfortunately, we visited on a day where they were holding a private event. Thus, dining in wasn't an option so we ordered to go as they were going to close earlier on that day. My wife and I ordered the Avocado Toast & the Tater Tots to share. Food took about 5-10 minutes to come out and was delivered via the back bar area. Service is pretty fast & were pretty friendly, semi-professional vibe as well which is a plus. Avocado Toast Very different from the avocado toasts I've had in the past. Very easy to cut, portions are big, and it comes with a half egg. I could tell that the toast was freshly made and it provides a "healthier" side of the dish. Love everything about the dish and will always be a recommendation for anyone who wants to visit this cafe. Tater Tots This dish surprised me in a good way. Portions are once again, massive. Each tater tot is bite size which is nice, very crunchy & savory. Best part of it is that it's not too salty and compliments well with a drink. Sauce that was provided with the tater tots is highly recommended to use. I absolutely love the interior, very tropical forest type style, outdoor and indoor seating, and definitely the next time I visit again, I would like to dine inside the restaurant to taste their amazing quality of food in a more non rushed way. Perfect brunch spot for dates.

Will you be open Labor Day?

Are you able to purchase the plants/books on display?

    Yes.

    Are they still open?

    Yes

Does this place have bottomless mimosas?

Is there wifi? Is this more of a restaurant/cafe or a coffeehouse/cafe?

No WiFi from what I recall... I would say it's more of a restaurant/ cafe. However, I've seen people bring their laptops to do some light work. The place is very laid back and chill, so it's a unique spot that gives you a little bit of everything…

Is there an option to dine in right now?

They definitely do have dine in option as well as sidewalk-outdoor option.

    Are there vegan options?

For drinks yes. You can always ask for Almond milk as a substitute. As for food options there are little to none and it would be safer to say there are none. Luckily the drinks are really good with almond milk as a substitute. My favorite are just…

Is this the Cook Shack renamed? Same owner operators or different restaurant entirely?

Hi Chi. The Cookshack closed back in 2007. I had actually been working here at that time as an employee. I opened the Lost Parrot Cafe in May of 2018. Different restaurant. Different owner, me. Feel free to reach out at any time with questions.…

Is outdoor seating available? If so, is it spacious?

Hello! Yes! We have a patio space that is spacious and we plan to add more tables soon. Thank you!

Do you have a lunch menu?

Menus are on our website Victoria! Thx!

    Does this restaurant serve alcohol?

Thanks for this question Valerie, because it's a tricky one; We have a limited bar menu for Sunday brunch 9am-1pm (I.E. bubbles, beer, mimosas, wine) and Margaritas on Taco Tuesday 5p-9p…

Is brunch only served on sundays?

Hi there Rayell, Great question. We are trying to let all our patrons know; Sunday is our big brunch…

Are there special hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day?

There sure are! New Years Eve we’re open 8am-2p. Hope to see you there! Closed New Years Day.

Love this cafe, very open and spacious with friendly baristas. What is behind the interesting name?

Food here is very safe, trite, hackneyed California cuisine beaten to death like a worn out horse. It's not really bad and not very good offending no one, but food that is boring and not particularly drop dead flavourful. I wasn't super hungry and decided to order more of the sides. 1) French Fries with some skin on, looking rustic, had a touch of that ineffable earthy potato flavour. Asked for extra crispy, but just got a bit crispy so their default fries must be rather limp. Standard ketchup in a steel ramekin. 2) Roasted Golden Beet & Arrugula Salad had sweet, softer, smooth texture, Arrugula had a fibrous, good green herbal, peanut oil scented flavour. Not too funky, creamy goat cheese. Roasted walnut halves. All napped with a subtle Champagne Vinaigrette. Portion was about half of what would be expected in other comparable restaurants. 3) Bread Pudding: The bread was spongy, moist, eggy almost like a flan but lacked a deeper dairy, milkiness as well as lack of hints of warm spices such as cinnamon, allspice, ginger, cloves. Bland would describe the general overall flavour. Topped with cream rich ice cream. Scattering of blueberry, blackberry, strawberry. At home, I drizzled on Grand Marnier for more citrus cognac aromatics. 1-3a) Iced Tea The food here seems to be the Midwest version of what California cuisine should be. Middle of the road, steady as she goes, don't rock the boat. Our waitress was efficient, helpful, thoughtful in a business-like manner which facilitated our group of 8. The male helper with a moustache and the inked hand was great at keeping our glasses topped off. 3 stars for a safe, not overly effusive food that does not offend. The outdoor optics holds the charm and strength of this restaurant.

We knew we wanted to keep it local to South Pasadena, so what better place than the historic The Raymond 1886. We contacted the restaurant in hopes that we could rent out one of their spaces for our celebration. Kevin, the Special Event Manager, reached out to us and we scheduled a walkthrough of spaces. They have two spaces that can be used for bigger groups. There's the Sunroom, which holds about 15 people, and then there's the outside patio in the back which is able to accommodate 25+. Since we had a smaller guest list, 14 people, we decided to go with the Sunroom. Fun fact it was recently renovated and you can definitely tell as the space was perfect! Kevin was a great partner the entire way through and was extremely helpful at answering all of our questions. We were allowed to customize the food menu and drinks for our guests, plus someone from our group was able to get there a bit before our reservation to decorate the tables. Kevin and our server Chris made us feel like VIPs on this special day! I don't think at any point my wife and I were without a drink so cheers to that Chris! Members of our party ordered the California Salad, a Veggie Burger, the Meatloaf and a Picante Pizza. The California Salad was smaller than expected but delicious. The Veggie Burger was excellent! The Meatloaf was the hit of the table. It was so good that my wife did not offer a taste to any of us. She was in food Heaven. The pizza was exactly as described and tasted wonderful. Since we were celebrating my birthday, our server brought me a delicious piece of double chocolate cake with a candle in it. Nice touch!! We also had one of their Warm Butter Cake's with some excellent vanilla ice cream on top. Absolutely wonderful!. This may be our new "go-to" place. Looking forward to return to savor the other items on the menu. Their drinks looked delicious as well, so we will definitely try those too.

Made a reservation about an hour before, so when we got there we were seated immediately. After a quick glance at the drink menu, had to get the Mai Tai with lilikoi foam on top. So delicious. Had my first lilikoi foam in Maui and I love that I'm starting to see it around Los Angeles now. Adds such a punch of flavor to an after we balanced drink. For food, we started with the bacon deviled eggs and shrimp taquitos. Those deviled eggs were lightly fried, which was different, then had apple wood smoked bacon on top, just a really tasty bite. The shrimp taquitos were also not what you would expect, nice and light but still very good. Entrees we went with the center cut fillet and the prime rib dip with swiss cheese on a brioche bun. That sandwich just melts if your mouth after dipping it in the jous, and the cheese was the perfect accompiament. The fillet was cooked perfect as well, coming out medium rare. Overall, great restaurant in Pasadena. Definitely get the Mai Tai, Devine eggs and prime rib dip. Taquitos were good and, if you're feeling like another hg er appetizer, definitely a way to go . The fillet, also great but I feel you can get it anywhere.

I also got the Ruma Latte, which was delicious--sweet & tasted like caramel in a cup. We shared the mochi pancake after seeing it recommended on TikTok! It's was good but not life changing. We went close to opening, so the atmosphere was peaceful & cozy. The staff was kind & welcoming, though we did have to ask a few times for our table to be cleared. Since the two-person tables are small, a bit more attentiveness would've made the experience even better. Overall, great food, cozy vibes, & I'd definitely come back!

Hubby & I had high expectations for dinner, but we were not impressed by the flavors. Many of the…read moredishes were lacking balance. Yang's fried chicken wings - this was a solid dish. Chicken was juicy. I usually don't eat chicken wings. Even after it got cold, the wings still tasted tender and not dry. Grilled Cabbage with Bagna Cauda - I do like a good cabbage dish, but the cabbage was under charred, way too greasy, & lacked acidity. After finishing the half portion of cabbage, it left an unpleasant after taste. Not a well balanced dish at all. Not my favorite dish. Maybe we should've gotten a simple salad instead. Dan Dan Campanelle - the dish came warm not hot. Good flavors and the Campanelle had a good chew, but not an exceptional dish. Hainan Fish Rice - I was so looking forward to this dish. The fish was cooked perfectly, but again lacking balance. The ginger oil is muted and purely decorative, lacking the sharp, sinus-clearing bite needed to wake up the dish. Without the bright, raw punch of ginger and chili, the dish tastes heavy and one-dimensional. I just wished there were more flavors and not just the taste of oil with each bite of fish and ginger. Good ingredients used, but just too heavy on the oil, too light on the aromatics. We didn't fully enjoy our meal as much as we would've liked. We might come back and try the brunch some day.

We ended up at Magnolia House for a late lunch/early dinner. They also serve breakfast/brunch only on weekends. Walked in around 4:30pm and we were greeted by Brian, one of the managers. Brian was the standout star of the whole experience! His energy was exceptional and he is such a great conversationalist. He checked on us several times throughout our meal and made sure we were doing well. He on his own was HANDS DOWN a five star human being. At first, he wanted to seat us in the back corner but I told him the table was too small and he accommodated us with a bigger table. Our server Kiana came up to the table with a pleasant smile and greeting to take our drink orders. I got a glass of cranberry juice along with some water. My son got the American Dream cocktail along with some water. We skipped on dessert. From 4-6pm, they have a happy hour menu with some of their cocktails and shareable plates. The portions are just a bit smaller and the prices are a little lower. It's a good way to sample different items. I think we got a good variety of food to enjoy. To start, we got the Little Gem Salad. It was such a unique combination of flavors and SUPER delicate/light. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The next starter was the Zucchini and Feta Fritters, which was good but not the best out of everything else we ordered. The zucchini was a bit mushy but the batter it was fried in was crispy. Another starter we shared were the Moroccan Spiced Chicken Wings. These wings are gigantic and very flavorful. They definitely pack some heat, so be careful. I don't think the A/C was NOT working to begin with, so the place was already hot. The wings made us sweat even more. For entrées, we got the burger and the pork belly. Brian said they are known for their burger and after taking the first bite, it's clear as to why. It was absolutely PERFRCTION. So delicious! The bun, the meat, the cheese, the onions, and the crispy bacon...all of it mixed together into the perfect burger. I had wanted to add some mushrooms and avocado to it, but Kiana said they were unable to do it. I also asked for lettuce and she said that would be an extra charge. What extra charge for lettuce? We still got charged for avocado when the bill came, but they took it off once we mentioned it. The pork belly was also very tender, flavorful, and crispy. It's just hard to compete with the burger! We also got an order of the Belgian Fries to share and we were both pleasantly surprised at how good they were. The fries are salty and cut pretty thick. The sauce that came on the side was so yummy. We asked for a small extra cup to-go. All in all, the food was great and we liked everything. The vibe of the restaurant wasn't really all that for me. Brian genuinely made up for anything that was lacking in the atmosphere. He is such a wonderful asset to the restaurant and their company. The restaurant itself has been here for about 15 years now and it used to be a very old house. You can tell when you look around. They did a good job with the renovations, but you can see the different areas/rooms. I think they tried to keep the casual comfort of a home, while making it a slightly elevated experience. It was very clean everywhere, especially the bathrooms. They have one gender neutral bathroom, one for men, and one for women. No private parking, so you'll have to park on the street and put money in the kiosk. They also had an outdoor seating. Pretty BIG, only took picture of one side. They also have 2 small TVs. In the bar area and inside their cute lounge. I normally like to try new places, especially when I'm in Pasadena, so I'm not sure if I'll come back here. Maybe if Brian is working, it would definitely be worth stopping by again! Thank you all..

Magnolia House was the place to go 10-12 years ago. But the last 3 times I've been here recently,…read moreit just really doesn't have the charm or class it used to have. Service is really really slow. You may see 5 or 6 waiters on staff...but they aren't stopping at tables to check up on guests. Alot of them are just hanging around the bar or front desk chitchatting with friends. The food quality dropped tremendously. It tastes like bland bar food now. $19 for 2 meatballs laying in tomato paste....and they were not even room temperature. Felt like they had these already prepared and sitting somewhere, just waiting for the next guest to order them. Got a mojito that may have been mistaken for a "virgin" drink....cause no one at our table could taste any alcohol in it. They all said it was watered down mint with ice. I wish this place would go back 10 years and make it like "the spot you want to go to"....versus the spot you now avoid.
